It seems here that it could be the .118 update. I'm not quite sure. Haven't got the prompt yet. Mine is C6903 Singtel - SG.

Hopefully. But I won't be flashing it immediately if it does. I rely a lot on stock-based kernels. So i'll wait for either DooMKernel or F(X)TrinityUltimateKernel to be updated. Maybe those who already got the update could share with us any changes or improvements?

The kernel should be the same, I doubt a small update like this will have major kernel changes
When I get home I will update and install Doom's advanced stock kernel to gain root again.
I will let you know if it works, but I imagine it will be fine

BTW, I've posted latest FTF in main thread, it's from Vodafone DE.
Just checked PCC but it's not online for me yet! Now I wait.....
Hi Greg,
Have you tried the .118 ROM yet? If so, any difference from .108?

Hot Hot Hot!!
Hi Guys and Gals,
Been running this on my C6903 overnight, and boy is it hot. In fact my device was so hot too the touch that it was almost unbearable.
Because of this I've had to revert back to the '108' build. Is it just me, or is anybody else experiencing this?
Also, on every boot there is a notification relating to mobile data, is this specific to vodafone?
If anybody has another ftf aside from this German one, I would be extremely grateful if you can post it, so that I test and compare, thanks in advance.
Very strange, I finally got around to flashing this and I stayed on the same version, same kernel, same baseband.
Pccompanion said I was up to date now but nothing changed.
Oh well.

Hi,
I just checked p970 firmwares and i saw this :
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGKU5900/AKTFTL/V20t_00/V20T_00.kdz
It seems to be a new version of GB, but maybe the battery drain from v20Q is corrected...
Could anyone test it (I can't due to my immediate need of my phone)
but basically, Q version is not an asian fw. so maybe this new T is the same as Q but for asia...
Yes maybe,
But what i've not seen is that this firmware is made for KTF, so i doubt it is open for other SIM cards...
if a device is unlocked, a branded FW shouldn't affect that

it's device related, FW version doesn't matter

yea, if you would, you may flash a sfr branded FW over your orange FW

If you look in v android development there is an unsecure kernel, but this is for older firmware, maybe it works
Edit: you must unlock bootloader for custom kernel, i do not think bin4ry method works for newer firmwares

There may be a way to root without unlocked bootloader
Try this well-known way of rooting Xperia AX in Japan.
I guess it's also possible for V to root.
1. Here is a Xperia VL's old rom and you can flash this kernel.sin and system.sin with V's loader.sin.
I can't post the link, but you can find it in uploaded.net. The ID is 3gvvv3w6.
2. Then, Root.
3. Create /data/local.prop (ro.kernel.qemu=1).
4. Flash V's system.sin without wiping.
5. Replace ric, install Busybox and Superuser.
6. Flash V's kernel.sin without wiping.
7. Do Factory data reset to easily delete unnecessary apps.

this version is not rootable right now, so if you count on root to do anything, avoid this one.
but if you are pure stock person, go for it, IT IS AMAZING, damn fast, damn smooth, never felt JB like this, NOR ON MY ASUS TF300T!
go for it if rot is of no importance to you

if it you could do it over the air, you MAY keep the root using ROOTKEEPER, but this way, using PCC or SUS , it's not possible to keep root...
as i said, if you don't care about root, go for it bro, it's easy to update, and the new firmware is just amazing
hope you enjoy your TX
or if you have unlocked the bootloader just flash a custom kernel with root.

You didnt understand. I said I cannot update it through Wi-Fi. Its saying "your device already has the latest available system update" but in PC Companion or PC Update Service says that update is avilable. Why my TX didn't got update notification?
or this update can only be done through PC?
by the way which method u used to update? Air or PC?
Maybe because it just realease a day from now.. So maybe.no OTA for now maybe a week or month will be available via OTA.. my brother accidentally update my xTX and i was pissed because i cant root it.. But the update has noticeable changes on performance.. Battery improves too.. But wifi thetering has its issue as i read someone posting it.. But for me i dont bother by that i dont use.it.. What bothers me is i cannot have root.. without root i feel my phone is less usefull for me.. But as the previous.post if your not rooted user definitely this update is good for you..

i DID understand bro, and what i said was just an explanation, for ANY condition, i meant under ANY condition, in future, it is impossible to keep root when you update through PCC or SUS, but you MAY keep the root using rootkeeper if you update via OTA.
it's normally usual that new firmwares are first available through PCC, not OTA, it's not weird..
I myself, downloaded the FTF file from Hong Kong, then flashed it via flashtools, you don't need to unlock bootloader if you want to flash a Sony Official Firmware
don't worry about anything, this update is just fabulous even without root, it's a BIG BIG performance improvement
let me know what you do, will help you as much as i can

seems like flashing the old kernel, having root, and then flash the new kernel won't do us any good, it keeps rebooting
and if you stay on old kernel, i mean Doom Kernel v07, so you are using the old kernel not the updated one which you actually looking for
it seems that there is still no way to have root with the new kernel righ away

Hello guys,
I've been reading, but have seen different opinions about how to do this. One person said flashing over a different base would brick the phone, another said it was safe to flash back to 434 (or whatever the current UK stock version is) if one did a full wipe factory reset first.
It would be good to know.
Thanks,
Mark.

Hey guys quick question, i am currently living with my long suffering firmware that is jellybean...the phones needing a good clean out and update!
So i was wondering if there is a UK regional FTF for the latest kit kat?
BUT ALSO! i have seen generic ES (Spain) Regional FTFs for Kit Kat and i will be moving to Spain in September.. so should i just go a head and flash that? i don't know the difference between ES & UK (not that i have managed to find a UK version, maybe someone could point me in the right direction)
Also are these FTFs available for rooting? my phone is currently rooted with CWM and will most likely want to re-root after i have flashed with flashtools..
sorry to ask such nooby questions
Thanks

I had rooted using the old school method because towelroot was not availabe then
Towelroot will work to root and its the easiest way at the moment.
After rooting just download and install SuperSU from play store.
After flashing firmware Bootloader wont be locked again
Kernel and Root are two different things
You will have to flash recovery again though as flashing firmware will remove the recovery
You can get the recovery from here
Dont follow root instructions from the link as you will be rooted after using towelroot
