Hello.
Galaxy Gear is not turning on! I clic the power button and nothing happens. When i put it to charge all i can see is the battery icon with a circular loading kind of icon. It immediately disappears when i first plug it in. That's the only thing, i'm not able to know if battery charges at all.
I have not used my GG since April because of this. My GG has never been dropped or stained with liquid. It had null rom and i was using it perfectly with my GS4. Perhaps pins are not clean? They look like they are clean and pristine but maybe something is happening? My charging cradle is bad? Or can i try to turn it on any other way without pushing the on button.
Really it has not scratches, i have never dropped my watch or hit it with anything. It seems dead as not being able to turn it on. I don't know what to do, would like to revive it.
Try plugging it into a computer and see what happens.

Thank you so much, i think it fixed. Right now i'm seeing the charging icon. Charge at 0% and battery green. I'll leave it plugged into the laptop.
I kind of tried this before, but i don't know why it didn't worked. But now it did. I'm so glad i do not have to dissemble it.
Hope it works.
For some mysterious reason, a computers usb power source magically repairs power issues.
Glad it worked!

Yep i charged it, and it's running
I've been away. With all these new galaxy gears. How does the original Gear compares to the Gear 2 and Live Gear.
What's the difference between Gear 2 and Live Gear?
So far i think original gear is more or less same in specs than these other 2... and i think Gear 2 and Live Gear are very similar, but Live Gear doesnt have a camera.
I've been living a cave, called college.
Help me

Take everything out of the Gear. Connect usb cable to PC. Connect cable to the cradle without the Gear. Then place the Gear in the cradle with the connected cable.
That it what i did, it worked at first try.
Leave them connected 2-3 minutes (i think) if i remember well, and you'll the charging icon changed. It will display 0%.
Leave it connected to PC around 10 mins more to make sure, and then immediately unplugged it and plugged it on a wall charger. It will normally charge and you'll see the % increasing.
That's exactly what i did. Hope it helps.

Can you use someone else's battery to try. Your battery may have just died, some do from time to time.
mmm
I'm not sure, but I don't think it's a battery death problem.
When I turn off it, I CAN CHARGE IT with pc.
I've noticed that if it's turned on, no charge.
If it's turned off, from 15% is now 36% of charge.
WHY???
So if you leave the phone turned off and connected to the PC for a few hours does the battery recharge to 100% and then the orange light change to green? If you then turn the phone on does the light still go out after a couple of minutes? The current draw will be lower when the battery is 100% charged (as it will be when charging while the phone is off). Some PC's can be flakey with high current draw devices on the USB port.
In the situation you described when the light goes off, will the phone still remain connected via Active Sync (or Vista equivalent)? I'm trying to weed out whether the USB connection has anything to do with it. As for those mains chargers, my one (which came with the PPC) worked about 4 times and the first time I had to recharge the PPC from a totally flat battery it died about 3 seconds into the charge. There was a loud click from the charger and it's light extinguished so I dont have much faith in the mark 2 chargers supplied to UK customers. I'm currently waiting on a different warranty replacement - hopefully like the original type with interchangable 'head' to suit different countries.
now it's not fully recharged, but I've just now turned on the phone and the % is growing.
I've always recharged my phone via pc because I left it connected to my pc at work every day during the working day.
only sometime I recharge it via wall plug at home.
dunno why but from yesterday the wall plug works 2 (or less) minutes and the pc is not anymore able to charge the phone.
now, with all the phone switched off (so, also activesync connection closed), the pc can recharge it.
ARGH

Take batt. 10m out, i had this problem long time ago.
Do you use a other AC loader.... use only the org. AC loader !!!!
Install batt. status and take a look... you must wait a few min. before the batt is charged.

Hey I have the same problem... I am on the original HTC Rom.
All of a sudden today the batt is not charging on the wall socket or the PC USB cable.
There is no light whatsoever, The active sync is also not connecting.
I have hard resetted even then the same problem, I am guessing it is a hardware & not a software problem coz I didnt install any new prog/app since last time I charged.
Now I have removed the Batt, will reattach and check in about 15 mins lets hope it works...
Shall update soon.

Nope, Removing the battery and waited for 30 mins reconnected the batt still not working.
Nor is my kaiser charging while the phone is switched off.
The problem is notof the USB port coz the USB headphones are working fine..
I got a battery problem as well. Problem started 3 days ago (20/12-07)
My problem is that the battery drains to fast.. disconnected it around 02:00 when I was of to bed, (battery 100%) but when I woke up again around 09:00 the phone was dead. Thats only 7 hours.. and in standby mode!
I'm on the original HTC UK ROM and I have only installd a couple programs like the Kaiser Tweak, Handysafe, Wififofum, Sprite backup, Citrix client, puTTY, PocketRAR, Total Commander, TCPMP, Flash player, PK NewWarningColorBatteryClean3G, HTC GPRSmonitor.
So I'm guessing one of these programs drains the battery even when the phone in on sleep.... the ones I installed since 20/12-07 is PocketRAR, TCPMP, Flash player, PK NewWarningColorBatteryClean3G.
Has anyone had battery problems after installing these..
Any help is appreciated.
it is a hardware problem
when I hold the cable of the charger and push it against the usb port it does charge. when I stop pushing it stops charging.
I've seen several threads about this in the past month on other websites with no solutions so it seems to be a common issue.
The problem I'm having is that after not using my gear for a few days it refuses to charge or turn on. Not even a flicker when the charger is attached. Tried two different cords. Pins are clean and lined up. Left it plugged in overnight several times. Anyone else having or had this issue? Thanks
I don't have an answer for the problem at hand but I would like to stay updated with this thread. I'm looking into getting one very soon.

Yes but since the unit is completely dead it has no effect
Here are some other threads where users are having the same issue:

After trying a third cord for a Samsung blue tooth headset I finally got the gear to show it is charging and states 60% battery. Very strange. Tried turning it on and resetting it several times beforehand too so even though it had charge it was temporarily bricked. Hope this doesn't happen again
I had an similar experience the other day, the clock wouldn't start/charge or react to the power button. After i repeatedly tried to hold the powerbutton i finally rebooted. I suspect the gear was actually on, but that the system froze. Was about to do the surgery to remove the battery to check when it booted up

I recently had this issue with one of my gear.this problem comes when you leave you watch on and battery drains and you don't charge for couple of weeks.I think it has something to do motherboard.only way to fix this is to replace battery which has juice in it.that's how I got mine working.I replaced the battery from my working watch and it started working and the dead battery I took out put in my other watch also started charging and working.this is a factory defect and Samsung should replace it free lifetime of watch instead of one year.

I found that if you take the Galaxy Gear apart and disconnect the power from the motherboard then plug back in and put the gear back together has got them to turn back on almost every time just give it a charge for a few minutes. This will fix it as long as the issue was not due to rooting to trying to put a custom ROM on the Gear. There is a few videos on YouTube that can help you take it apart.
- I work for Samsung experience shop and i have run into this issue often and just about every time this has fixed it.
- sorry for late response hope your back in the business with the Gear.
I've had this issue with wall chargers and did some reading online. Someone suggested to plug it into a computer/laptop usb port.
I plugged it into the laptop and walked away and guess what? It's charging. I tried many different chargers varying in ratings but nothing worked
Try leaving it plugged into the pc for a good while. After two days of trying various chargers, my gear is back up and running
Had this issue as well. I tried a series of taps to the power button followed by a hold and it eventually turned on and has been working fine since.
tap - hold
tap tap - hold
tap tap tap - hold
eventually it will come on, i cant remember how many taps it was when it finally reset.
Hi had this issue also spent 3 hours trying to figure it out as had just got gear out of its box at very first plugging charger in a quick image appeared on screen then off after that nothing. Eventually being as carefully as possible while gear was in charging dock still plugged in i opened the lid not once did i move gear off contacts but did give sight wiggle then it came to life appears to me its a docking problem of some sort. of course I DON'T RECOMMEND opening lid while charging but thought id pass on what i figured out do at your own risk, I hope this helps others with this issue
Thanx

Gear Watch Charging FIXED!
Thanks to this thread I am very happy!
Just bought a 2nd hand Gear Watch at auction. No idea about how they work and wondered why it wouldn't switch on or respond when charging. Just a black screen regardless of which charger or cable was connected. Read above about disconnecting the power from the motherboard so watched this youtube video on tear down ( won't let me post the full link but this is the video number... v=5WzGC0786U0 )
Luckily had a small 'star' toolset available. Pulled the watch apart... disconnected the power...reconnected the power...reassembled the watch... plugged into the charger and voila! Instantly showed up on the screen with an orange timer and then went black (held my breath) then came on with the battery symbol with 0% charge. Looking at it as I write...touched the screen and now has 10% charge (only been about 5 minutes).
Looking forward to playing with it when fully charged Thank you to the contributors to this thread. I thought I'd been ripped off...but now it seems I'm the one who has scored a working Gear Watch for £20 )))
mine started working on its own... strangely enough.
taking the advice from this thread, i looked into alternate ways to get my Galaxy Gear up and running. I tried cleaning the metal tabs that connect, tried opening the holster while it was plugged in, nothing. i didn't have a star kit to take it apart, so i left it on the charger while i could go find one. thing is, i completely forgot about it, since i've got the Gear 2 for my S5. i was cleaning around my desk and bumped into the gear which fell over and showed that it was at 100% charged capacity. beforehand, it was completely dead, despite the fact that i left it on the charger for a solid 24 hours and no response. maybe it just needed a little more time on there, who knows. but i powered it on, and it's fully functioning. the only drawback is that it needs a factory reset since it was without power for so long. i could connect it as an accessory to my S5, but i couldn't use it in the place of my Gear 2 as it's been rooted/running a _null ROM, and the Gear Manager software has been updated a few times. i'm going to factory reset it and pair it with my Note 3, and see if _null has an updated version of his ROM out there. but i figured i'd let someone know my experience in case it might help in some way.
Fixed it !

Just to share my experience, I left my gear about 2 months discharged, today I tried to charge it and nothing. I tried everything, clean, connect, disconnect etc, so, I pulled the watch apart and disconnected the power etc and everything is working fine now, charging as usual.
Here's what worked for me
I read on another site to try a piece of paper folded and put next to the on button so when the charging cradle is snapped closed it pushes it down. I just tried it and after many days of a dead gear watch....ta da! Success. Now it's on and charging. Take the paper out once it starts to reboot otherwise it will just cycle over and over. Hope this helps someone else. It's tricky to fit just right...i folded a tiny piece of post it note ...good luck. Penelope

I had the same problem: the gear is dead and not charging with a wall charger after leaving the gear for more than 1 month unused. I followed ph00ny's advice and tried to charge it via usb and it immediately started to charge. So before taking it apart I suggest try it out with usb charger.
Cheers
Stopped my gear update by shutting off my phone and now gear wont power on
I have been trying everything to get it to turn on.... (holding down the power button, tap and hold, charging with USB) nothing is working. Don't have a star driver to open it up, but may have to invest in one.
Anyone have the same issue? This is driving me crazy!

Oddly enough this is nothing but the truth. Funny enough. I lost my charger dock thingamajig recently and not one hour ago i started making my own out of a 2x4, and a few bits laying around. Was sad to see gear wouldnt charge or boot. tried different chargers and nothing. I read everything and saw this and didnt think to try as im only running two wires to charge my gear, as those with homemade chargers know. Plugged it into a laptop and boom. charging... please someone explain to me the theory behind this. and dont say the current as i even tried 500ma and 250ma chargers to no avail. how does a pc usb magically do it without data lines connected.... so confused..
I tried severals usb outputs and wall chargers but nothing! also my usb cable is not defect because I meαsure the output with a polymeter and the cable works perfectly!
Any ideas?
thanks in advance!

Pebble not charging issue - fixed
Just in case anyone else hasn't sorted this out yet, if your pebble is still on, do a factory reset and let the battery run until it goes completely off, then plug the cable and wait it will come back in a few minutes just like the first day.
If it went off before you were able to do the reset, unplug it and let it rest for an hour and plug it in it will go on, as soon as it does, do the reset "DO THE RESET" then let it charge for two hours and sync, your apps will be gradually restored from your phone.
In case you were thinking you got a faulty device, think twice! This will eventually happen to all pebbles out there! I have 5 of those gizmos in house (from wife to children and mine too) all suffered from same!
Hope this helps!

Hopefully very much helps! But how do I factory reset? Thank you
I had a cable go bad. New ones are $15.
Sent from my Xperia Z Ultra using XDA Free mobile app
After having the problem of it not charging, tried everything, factory reset, still not charging, different USB ports etc.
After it went flat it still wouldn't charge and was dead. There was voltage on the charging pins so the cable seemed ok.
I gave up on it a month or so ago.
Well I just got it out in a vain attempt to get it working again after reading another post I found and I now have a watch that it charging again!!!
Initially, same problem after an hour plugged in, watch was dead.
Then I squeezed the plug while holding in the middle button on the other side of the watch for about 60 seconds then the battery icon' came up on the display!!!!
A few minutes later, the watch has booted up!!!!! yay!
I am guessing it was a misalignment of the charger pins inside the watch which has somehow been corrected by holding the middle button firmly in, or maybe holding the middle button in for 30 seconds was a full reset which allowed it to charge again. Who knows but its working again.
The same problem here, no solution yet. It is really frustrating. After a year of using the pebble.
I had a problem with the contacts on the watch being dirty prevented charging.
Try your cable with other Pebble watch. If it is charging then there is a problem with your watch or charger pin otherwise problem with your cable.
This worked!

Hi all, this suggestion fixed my charging issue. Thanks!
Just like the original Pebble having an internal issue with the display cable getting loose resulting in a corrupted display, I believe the Pebble Time has the same problem with internal connections, but this time it's the charging port. I too have run into this issue and bought new charging cables and continue to have issues getting a charge to start so I do not believe the cables are the issue. If you look at the iFixit teardown of the Pebble Time, you will see the power port connects via pass through charge pins that contact the back of the Pebble Time motherboard inside. I believe the motherboard is not making good contact with the pins. Some have noticed if you squeeze the charging cable to the watch it starts to charge and if you let go it will lose connection again which supports my theory. This temporarily fixes the internal connection issue. The only handsfree method I have found to work for me involves using a strong clothespin (or some kind of clamp). This holds it long enough to maintain full contact inside to get a full charge. I believe Pebble is throwing replacement cables out because it is cheaper to do this than to admit there is a problem in the watch design causing the loss of ability to charge and issue recalls for repairs.
Hello,
I have an original galaxy gear that has worked problem free. It never drains completely (is at about 60% every night i put it on the charger) and I wear it daily.
This morning (i work nights, so it had been on my wrist for about 12 hours) i got a text message and felt the phone virbate. Look at my watch and got nothing. The watch wont turn on wont reboot wont do a damn thing!
Most people reporting this issue had a dead watch that lost all battery juice.... this was over 50% charged. I have checked the prongs on the charger, pressed and held the button for 10 seconds to 60 seconds, plugged it into a computer, tried to reconnect manually.... nothing.
Any idea on how to get this working? I feel odd wearing a 'real' watch now, but am extremly dissapointed that a 300$ watch will just stop working for no reason.
I need another watch... but it wont be samsung if this is what i can expect.
Any advice would be appreciated

this is a major problem with the galaxy gear 1
there is a thing you can do but in involves opening the gear up ,taking the battery off and then putting it back on
there is a video on you tube showing an easy way to do it
it will come back to life

I cant seem to find the video specific to this issue - do you have a link?
If it is really simple enough ill just do it... was going to try and send it back to samsung otherwise.
Thanks in advance

Questionable Charge
Ok so I got this from Amazon today and it has yet to power on. I researched and found that if i take it apart and unplug the charging port then plug it back in it should fix it. I did that but when i plug it into the charger i get a battery icon with a circle inside it. Does anyone know if they can help me? https://www.dropbox.com/s/5et4nv9dxxjt52x/Screenshot_2014-05-16-18-36-03[1].png

So i took the watch apart twice with no success after putting it back together.
Do i need to physically take the battery out? I disconnected the screen from the entire watch and then re connected it. This should have sufficed no?

no that's not the part you need to do
take out the battery totally, unclip the battery from the main board,,
if you disconnect the screen, the battery is still connected to the Brains of the watch
So my galaxy gear one did not turn on this morning! No idea why! Any idea what to do? Odin and kies won't find it. Is it possible to get it repaired and how much would something like that cost me!

You need to charge it internally, This issue is mostly a battery problem, i had the same issue the Device it dead, or you can tell a store that the battery is dead, and if they can jump start it once again.
Just Charge it with Positive 1v and negative 1v cables to the pin sockets inside it, if you do not want to go do this, see if there is a Repair shop nearby.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
Regards

Can I buy or make me a cable like that?
Would it be ok if I cut a charging cable and switch the wires?
Plug it into a computer, somehow that works when my gear fully drains and wont charge with the normal charger
Mine went dead last week also, I've been researching threads and most say charging via USB from laptop or desktop (USB 2.0 seems to be preferred) will bring it back to life. I've also read about hair dryers being helpful. None of that worked for me.
I read earlier that separating the motherboard from the battery could be helpful. I just did that (literally 20 minutes ago) and while the screen isn't on, nor do I see any indication of charging, my computer let me know that a USB device was connected this time.
I'm leaving it sit overnight (I still haven't screwed the back back on yet) to see what happens.
Well I left it overnight and still no life. I've gone even further and completely removed the battery now and will leave it out of the watch for a while and reassemble it later tonight and then leave it overnight again fully assembled in the charger connected to my PC via USB.
Another day of charging via USB after completely removing the battery and still no sign of life. I think I'm giving up. The computer still recognizes something is attached but that's as far as I get.

All you need is two telephone wires the same type you would typically use in the USB Cable and Insert on the two copper sockets inside
Let me know if you need anymore assistance.
Mine completely overnight and then I didn't feel like charging for a few days. After a few days I went to go charge it and I could not get it to charge. I tried roughly 5-6 different chargers/cables and all sorts of different usb ports on laptops, car chargers, and nothing work. In middle of moving I took my chromecast off of my tv and remembered it was a microusb charger. Plugged it into my watch cradle and it came back on.
Connect your gear watch to USB port on your Notebook , after 5 min open charging cradle , while pressing gear watch to charging cradle try to turn on watch from power button with plastic card. After several attempts gear watch will turn on , close charging cradle and continue charging.
It seems to me there is a problem with the battery. Maybe you battery is dead. You need to remove the battery from your watch and keep it in the sun light for 15 min then try to charge it. If it doesn't work properly then contact with service center.
