I went to flash a new rom and everytime i try to do the set up wizard it force closes when i hit the arrow from the language. I try to reboot into recovery but it either boots to the bootloader and i tried recovery from there and I get nothing or the device just reboots itself.
What can i do to fox this?
I will give you some advice when starting into this ROM scene. What I learned along time ago was always know how to FXZ back to factory with your phone. We have all been where you are and as long as you can get to bootloader there is a way out. So I would fxz back to stock if I were you.

Try this:
First, unplug the USB from the phone. Now, turn the phone off.
Next, Hold the VOL DOWN button, and turn the phone back on. You should boot into bootloader mode. The screen should say "AP Fastboot Mode".
NOW, plug the USB cord into your computer. It will probably "search for drivers" and then recognize the phone.
Let us know if this helps...

OK, are you able to use fastboot commands at all? You must have flashed custom recovery at some point if you are able to "flash roms"...
There are some reports where people for whatever reason were unable to use RSD Lite, but the manual restore method worked fine for them.
Assuming that you are able to use fastboot, follow the instructions in this thread (Under MANUAL METHOD):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-moto-x-return-to-100-stock-using-t2446515
Also, if you need help with the manual commands, let us know what your carrier/model is.

Yes did everything manually and it worked like a charm im back up and running installing all my apps now!! Thank you so much!!
Hey everyone I'm looking here as my last resort before sending my phone back to Motorola.
Bought a Nexus 6 from motorola uk which was delivered yesterday, switched phone on and all the Google apps on the phone updated, then had a notification OTA to download and install android 5.1 which I did, towards the end of the install process I had an error with the green android and a red exclamation mark.
I powered the device off with the power button and it turned back on and ever since it says "Android is starting" "Optimizing app 1 of 125" once it goes through all the apps it gets to the android boot screen then just goes back to the "Android is starting" "Optimizing app 1 of 125" over and over and over. (Infinite bootloop)
Pointers: The phone is not unlocked or rooted as I'm a noob its just fresh out the box, also I never opened/unlocked the developer options.
I have tried various recovery mode fixes, wiping cache and wiping all data and then rebooting the device with no luck.
Is there anyway I can hook my N6 up to my computer and fix this with a tool kit etc? I'm willing to try but I'd need basic instructions and reassurance it wouldn't muck up my warranty if it didn't work as my only other option is to exchange for a new device.
Any help, advice etc would be hugely appreciated. Thanks

Read the guide on how to fastboot flash a factory image. No toolkit necessary.
Would you mind posting a link to a guide? I forgot to add that I don't want my phone to become rooted by trying to fix this issue, I want to keep it stock like it was, also does not have developer options enabled stop me from going further.
Sorry for the questions I'm a noob to this and quite anxious.

I presume this is because I didn't enable developer options or USB debugging?

When in bootloader mode type : fastboot devices
-Edit- just read that your bootloade is still locked so i`am afraid there is nothing you can do to fix the issue as you cannot flash firmware with a locked bootloader. Best is to claim warranty because of a software issue while updating.

Thought this would be the case, I went into adb fastboot and typed in fastboot devices and its showing some letters and numbers next to fastboot on screen if that helps.
In the future I presume I should make sure to enable developer options first so I can get out if this mess?
Also would it be best when I get my new n6 just to sideload the latest update marsmellow by getting the factory image from the Google website? Last question can I skip from 5.0 straight to 6.0 sideloading or do I have tobdo it one at a time?
Thanks for trying to help matey

Next time enable usb debugging and ENABLE OEM UNLOCK, both in developer options. You can flash the latest firmware available directly in fastboot by flashing the individual img files.

It says this on my Nexus 6 phone screen.
Unlock bootloader?
If you unlock the bootloader, you will be able to install custom operating system on this phone.
A custom OS is not subject to the same testing as the original OS, and can cause your phone and installed applications to stop working properly.
To prevent unauthorized access to your personal data, unlocking the bootloader will also delete all personal data from your phone (a "factory data reset".)
Press the volume up/down buttons to select yes or no. Then press power button to continue.
Yes (Unlock bootloader, may void warranty)
No. ( Do not unlock bootloader and restart phone)

Hello people.
So i got a custom recovery (TeamWin project). I disabled OEM Unlock on purpose, because i thought it wouldn't show the red line up in the bootscreen.
After trying to reboot, it wouldn't reboot, and i can't go into Recovery mode. I can't install any custom firmware too, because i've got the OEM Unlock set to "off"
Can someone please help, i can't find a topic similiar to my case, where i've bricked my phone and have no idea what to do.
Thanks to all those who are tying me to help <3.

Right! As I haven't got the phone yet, didn't find out that new OTA have different boot.img. So as for now, rooting means just firmware on website is usable.
In the future if there is an update you will need to unroot, flash the original boot. Flash the rom update and then extract the new boot, patch it with magisk and flash the new patched boot to enjoy root again.
Personally I would rather stay on stock enjoy the timely OTA updates and keep my warranty.

There is no such option with the stock recovery. Any way why do you need that. You don't need to use ADB commands to flash the patched boot.img.

There used to be a fastboot mode on the ROG phone on Android Oreo, i am not sure if things changed with Android Pie.
Anyway try the hardware method to connect, turn your phone off and connect it to the PC using the side port make sure to hold the low volume key when connecting the phone to the PC. See if a fastboot mode black screen shows up.
If not:
On the bootloader screan the second one you showed. On your PC after going to your platform tools and running the cmd window from there type the command:
Fastboot devices
Does it recognize your device?, if it does run the 2 commands stated in step 8. But do it on your own risk if something goes wrong you might brick the device and if you are not able to flash back the stock boot i am afraid you will end up with a bricked device until a solution is suggested.
I can't get into fast boot mode. Tried all options, volume up, volume down, usb, no usb, debugging on, debugging off...

You need to explain what you mean by that and what things you did before this occured. Have you tried getting to download manually? By that I mean turning the tablet off and then holding vol up and down while plugging in the USB cable to the PC. Also, what happens when you try to boot to system?

Ah, so your problem is only that you can't use fastboot. Have you installed TWRP? This model doesn't support fastboot by itself. You have to first install TWRP to use fastboot.

You need to read this thread to install TWRP. You do it with Odin and not fastboot. Odin is what Samsung uses INSTEAD of fastboot.
I cannot install TWRP,..
1.I Shut down
2.Press power and Vol up button
3.Gets in Recovery
4. I scroll to Reboot to bootloader
5. Goes into download mode. Freezes
6.Press power and Vol down buttons
7.Goes back to home screen
8. Rinse and repeat

Do you have Odin running? Do you get the "added message" in Odin? That is the only way to tell if it is connected. You say it "freezes" but that is normal. So long as you get the added notice in Odin, you are ready to flash. If you don't get the "added" message, then you have to enter the download mode manually and NOT from the recovery menu. Also, have you unlocked the bootloader? That has to be the very first step. Nothing will work till you do that.

I think I know what your problem is. You've had other tablets and have always used fastboot for rooting, unlocking and flashing. FORGET EVERYTHING YOU KNOW. Samsung doesn't work like other tablets. The ONLY time you use fastboot with this device is AFTER you have unlocked it, installed TWRP, rooted and want to install a GSI ROM. You DO NOT use fastboot to unlock the bootloader, root the tablet or flash TWRP, stock ROMs or custom ROMs. You can find instruction for unlocking the bootloader here. It is for the A7 but the A8 unlocks the same way. Then use the other link I posted for installing TWRP.
ONG he was using fastboot.

I think I know what your problem is.
Spoiler: hidden

My understanding is different. The problem is that the download mode can't be started because there is a hangup. So how can you use Odin, which requires a working phone in download mode?
