Seeing as there is no best ROM, what are regarded as good ones? Thanks
As I consider the most stable,SMOOTH and feature rich is CARBON ROM, combined with elementalX kernel... THE BEST!!! "FLIES AWAAAAY... "

Please do not spam the forum. If you're too lazy to flash Roms, just stay on stock.
Paranoid saberdroid/aospal, liquid smooth, and vanir are all heavily optimized, fast, stable, and have lots of features.
Carbon, pacman, and aicp are also good feature rich ROMs and stable enough, though I feel like those listed above are faster and maybe more stable. Candykat is a nice one too.
Rastakat and purity are excellent if you're wanting lightweight, straight aosp ROMs with some basic customization features.
Of course there's also the bigger names like slim, cyanogen, and paranoid android as well.
Obviously i'm a bit of a flashoholic and can't seem to stay on one for long, but it all just depends on what you like. Try out a couple and get the feel for what you like!
Multirom is awesome too for checking out different ROMs without having to wipe your daily driver.

Nothing wrong with a discussion about different ROMs in the general section. Isn't that the point of a forum? No need to be so negative.
Edit: on second thought maybe q &a section would have been better

Hey folks,
the title says it all - I'm looking for the best ROM for daily usage for my wife :cyclops:
Right now she owns a HTC Sensation with CM 10.2 from Albinoman (20131028), but it's always a bit laggy and buggy.
So I need a ROM which is really smooth and - the most important thing - has a really good working camera!
Otherwise I know I will run into really big problems
It mustn't be the newest ROM, but the most stable and smoothest - nothing less and nothing more
Any recommendations from you ROM-freaks?
Best regards and thanks in advance for your help

Okay - thanks for...nothing?!
I agree to AndreiLux' answer to the OP of the linked thread.
Why it should not be allowed to ask people about their experiences with one or another ROM
I clearly stated what I'm looking for, and stability and a working camera are truly hard-facts for which I can get recommendations.
Not to bother you...but this really doesn't help anybody.
Best regards

I can advice you to go for The Galaxy Project v11.anything for the Galaxy S3 LTE. (I'm not sure which is the latest version of v11). This is a nice rom based on stock android 4.1.2, very stable and everything works. Do not go to 4.3 yet if you want stability and everything working smoothly.
The reason "Best Rom" threads are not allowed, is because it's "subjective". It can also lead to arguments between devoted fans. Understand, not everybody at XDA is civil. Mostly, but some folks take "fan devotion" to another level and cause serious problems. I won't mention any "Team" roms that frequently troll each other. For this point, "Best Rom" threads get closed unless there is a formal official thread monitored by the moderation team.
My advice is to read the popular threads starting from the last few pages. This gives you an idea of any recent bugs in the recent releases.
Then try a couple.
Although the recent CM. Paranoid Android, AOKP and PacMan roms are nice, they are not for everybody as they can get complicated with options. I myself prefer a more stock based, odex'd ROM. With Xposed mods, custom kernel and some necessary apps.
With that said, this thread will be closed now.
Cheers
MD
I guess its pretty much self explaining
A poll (google forms) to determine ROM/Kernel combination xda-members use and how satisfied they are.
Only ROMs/Kernel from Original Android Development Subforum are/will be added
results will be published immediately!
Mod edit - links removed
If you find bugs, want a ROM/Kernel to be added or anything else, please use this thread
Thanks for participating
Changes:
2014-04-09:
added "Don't know" option to ratings
added links to overview
various typos

I thought the same too but I followed his link. It's setup really nice and it's not just any regular what are you running thread. Pretty cool to see the info being displayed like that. There's way too many roms though so I'll keep an eye on this thread.

I don't know... its a result of a long travel by train
Maybe for users who want to try something new but don't know what to choose.
Or ROM/Kernel devs want to know what users think.
Does it bother you that much?

He he yeah not your fault at all. They need to be moved by the moderator team into android development along with xenonHD. They simply are not doing anything other then the 1000 of android development ROMs....kanging. No original work at all. Nothing bad but hammerhead moderators decided at the beginning to clearly differentiate it...which is IMO a good idea...but this 3 silently added their ROMs threads into original and I think that's not fair for the other android development ROMs (like carbon aicp madhi etc etc) that user think this three mentioned above do original work.

It does, yes. It is against XDA rules to make Best ROM or Best Kernel threads for the reason that "some" devs don't like to be compared to others. It is against the Spirit of XDA. Even though your results are not technically what is best, it is still comparing the work so should still be against the rules.
I will leave it in the hands of mods. If they decide to allow this thread, fine. If not, also fine.

Yeah quiet difficult to decide here agree and something in a gray zone I think lol. On the one hand it is a comparison on the other hand very anonymous and it shows specific stats as well for the different ROMs and kernels (like which version most are running etc). And stats about quality speed etc are not ROM specific and only shown as overall impressions about all ROMs and kernel....difficult lol.
Whatever yeah mods need to decide.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Definitely a grey area.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Unfortunately comparison threads are not allowed on XDA, be it a poll or just a thread. While it is anonymous that is not the point, as mentioned some ROM/Kernel devs do not like seeing their work being compared to the work of others. As this is as outside poll (and a nice one at that) I must remove the link from the OP as members could still vote and view it otherwise.

Hi,
I'm currently looking for a nice stable KitKat rom. In testing asylum right now. I really like the dark interface. Looks pretty nice on amoled. I have some wlan and camera probs though.
The original omni and slimkat seem to be good choices, too.
I want a fully working nice rom asap and not test for days or weeks. Unfortunately I have other stuff to do
Can someone give me some pros and cons of those or other roms, pls? Which one delivers the most stable build atm.
Thanks a lot

If you read the rules and have browsed a few of the headlines you should already know that BEST is not allowed and in violation of the rules. Try them yourself!
Sorry, didn't know that this is not allowed. Just wanted to know which rom runs without any issues

Unless stated otherwise, each Rom will have their full description in the OP including known bugs. Of course individual hardware condition also play a part in generating issues. The best solution is to always do a full, clean flash whenever flashing a new rom.
And to answer your enquiry, all developers who cooked the roms have made the roms in accordance to survey, latest updates, and mostly from personal preference so again what might be an issue to you might not be to many others. As a weekly flasher, the best way to know how good a rom is of course to try it ourselves, it's all the fun of flashing cusrom about.

I think everyone already stated the reasons why this thread is being closed
The BEST ROM is the one that works BEST for YOU. Read the ROM threads...it is full of members who think THAT ROM is the best.
You need to find out what works best for you, your phone/apps/usage/signal/setup.

In addition to what Kenny said, please do not use the mention system to "summon" moderators, I have been at work throughout the day so wasn't online, meaning mentioning me is useless (at weekends at any rate). Please use the report system for matters concerning forum/thread moderation.
Thanks.
Any one have any reccommendations on a custom ROM and kernel setup for good battery life? But still has quick performance..I'm not very good at setting up a custom kernel it always seems like my battery dies quickly on custom Roms and kernels any help would be greatly appreciated

When we can expect Custom Roms for Asus Rog 3?
Its been a month now, Asus send ROG 3 to some developers for testing device with custom roms but sadly no news till date. Despite of Unofficial TWRP & Few Great Kernels, development for this beauty is very slow!
Hopefully soon:fingers-crossed: (good things come to those who wait)
I would love to try a stock-based ROM with a plethora of enhanced features and options.
This is a good but not a popular phone. So I guess it'll take some time before we get a custom ROM. It'll come but if the community isn't big they will not be huge support on those ROMs. I know that Asus offered the phone to some devs as Lineage OS and Dirty Unicorns, but nothing is sure they will develop anything for this phone.
Here the list of developers who got the phone

I doubt this isn't a popular phone.
Anyone who's into mobile gaming knows this kind of phones.
It's just that these gaming phones are highly not for everyone.
I mean, they probably saw in the mall, but:
~Mostly marketed at the same price as flagships = Expensive
~Too focused on gaming (both looks & specs), this will feel heavy to use for someone who just want a decent smartphone
Basically, these phones have its own community.

Yes, it is a niche market. So not popular as this is only for a limited amount of users interested by this kind of phone. I just look around me and nobody know this phone.
I have no doubt it is not a popular phone like a flagship from Samsung, Huawei or OnePlus. I am used to have non-popular phones as I choice my phone for it's spec and not for the quantity of bloatware offering useless options to me.

It is all I hope, but I just looked at the rog phone 2 forum yesterday and there were not that many, the support wasn't really here.
I am not in hurry to get custom ROM, as I use air triggers daily. But if one day there is a ROM developed especially for this phone with specific options dedicated to the rog phone 3.
