HI,
For some reason LTE i not working in my country (israel)
my carrier told me that i must have 4.3 rom which is not available by regular update.
Is there any way to solve this?
i read something about updating the baseband.
Thanks
update the software using flashtool, you don't need to wait for your carrier to update the firmware

If your phone is unlocked and is not carrier branded then you're free to install any (good) Jellybean firmware...
But if your phone is carrier branded (like Claro, Sprint, Verizon, Vodaphone, Orange, etc) then you have to flash their respective Jellybean firmware...
Sent from my GT-I9070
Yes you can use firmware from another country buy only if your phone is not carrier branded, you can flash a JB firmware or rom if you like.GB is kind of outdated
i think my phone is unlocked cause i can use it with indonesian carrier...i bought my phone in HK...
thanks for your respond guys...

WHY did you flash Honkong - he told you not to flash it.
arffrhn told: Just don't flash it with China/Hong Kong firmwares. They caused hardbrick and imei lost in some devices.
Now you will probably have problem when you try to use another firmware...,
Use this to downgrade: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195673
But people said that Honkong version can't be downgraded: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516926

As I know we can downgrade just with those files in that guide I gave you. And you can't use other Firmware to downgrade.
Try with that guide, if that fails - I have no idea how to downgrade HK FW.

My country Serbia Firmware. I use it since it was out. Once I made mistake and I flashed GB over JB - I got that bootloop. And I reflashed JB.
So after you go back to GB you go to JB just like you did now.

Hello!
Everything is in the question. I usually keep my firmware up to date with the ROM I am using, but I am just wondering, what exactly does updating the firmware do? How I see it is that the firmware is the layer between the hardware and the kernel, anyone can expand on that for me please?
Thanks!

firmware can be found by looking at Settings-About phone-Software Number
Currently, the newest international unlocked firmware fr the One on Android 4.4.2 is 4.19.401.8
Updating the firmware ensures optimal performance of the ROM. Installing an OTA updates the firmware and bootloader version.
The latest bootloader/HBOOT version is 1.56 on KitKat
Hello
I'm going to flash the official 4.3 firmware but not sure if it's non-banded firmware

Hi,
I'm using Paranoid Android 4.5 Alpha 2 and I wonder how to update modem baseband to latest version without losing my actual configuration and ROM.
Is it possible?
If so, can you tell me how and what do I need.

why do you want to flash baseband?
Because I have issues with phone calls.
So I would like to take advantage of the latest baseband that would maybe fix those.

it might be an operator issue/rom bug.
dont fiddle with the baseband
It's not an operator problem.
So I suppose the problem is from my side (phone).
I used to have a Nexus 4 and ROM and baseband are 2 different things that you can flash independently.
Are you sure it's not the same with Xperia Z?
I already saw some topics with titles like Baseband Generic US something. But I did not find any Generic FR at the latest version.

You can download the french firmware and just flash the baseband from flashtool
Edit: Why dont you try EU firmware
I found out one topic for generic FR latest firmware and I used your trick flashing only the baseband.
Thanks!
Now I will see with the time if it's making my phone work better.

I just bought my second I9305 (first one was stolen) and it doesn’t connect to any network band. It is the same International model I had before that worked perfectly. I’m not sure if it has some country code limitation, but the frequencies and bands should be the right ones.
The phone is stock version. Baseband version XXUEMK1.
I’m not sure if I should flash to another Baseband. My cellular service provider works LTE at 1800 frequency and Band 3.
Any clues about what I should do?
Thanks
Henning

Hi,
Which is your stock firmware version JB 4.1.2 ? JB 4.3, or ?
Rooted or not ?
If you want to be sure your phone is OK, just reflash via ODIN your stock firmware from your country (and if you want from your carrier), it includes PDA, CSC and MODEM . Be sure your phone is an internationnal model i9305 and download your firmware HERE or HERE. I recommand this GUIDE from MaHo_66 xda member.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm not sure where to find these JB numbers tou are asking. The BuIld number is JSS15J.19305XXUEMKC. In Kies appears: PDA: MKC, Phone:MK1, CSC:MK2 (VDI).
The list of firmwares in the Samsung Updates page doesn't have the specific country/carrier I use. How do I know which one is equivalent?

I've made some googling but I didn't found which modem version you have to use. I guess you have to find a latin america modem version but it has to be compatible with your current Android 4.3 build.
Did you previous stolen i9305 was running Android 4.3 as well ?
Do you know some ways to remember which versions you had on your previous phone ? Do you know someone else with the same phone ?

So try do a clean install by wiping all and flash latest build I9305XXUEML9 from italy (TIM) with Odin. It's Android 4.3 like you currently have.
You can grab it here for exemple : http://samsung-updates.com/details/24460/Galaxy_S_3_LTE/GT-I9305/TIM/I9305XXUEML9.html
Follow MaHo_66 guide.
Don't forget to backup.
I hope it will do the trick.
Hi,hbergold, why not flash the version firmware 4.4.4 Stock. Here you have two versions of 4.4.4:http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9305 So you would be clear if the problem is the modem.I use the version DBT Poland, I live in Spain and everything works great.Version 4.4.4 also includes again the possibility of entering service mode and choose the bands. You can flash it with Odin.Pasate por aqui:http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=920004

Gracias viktorak, but does this modem work with LTE band 3 (1800) ?
I can`t confirm, but with the the Service Mode you can force the band you will.Have you read the post I linked?Your partner, also from Venezuala wanted to force the band 5 -3G, and according to reported- it works. Then, using Service Mode you can force the band you will.
You need to first install the 4.4.4 Rom and then if it doesn`t work normally use Service mode.

@hbergold, about KNOX, you told me you have an Android 4.3 build, so if it's an official one, you already have a KNOX bootloader (the one from sammy Android 4.3).
About bootloaders:
- if you ever flash 4.3 or 4.4 via Odin or updated from OTA you have new Bootloader from android 4.3 or from 4.4.4.
- if you bought your device and you dont know what bootloader you have, turn off your phone, reboot to download mode (hold power + volume down +home buttons) and when is there Knox flag 0x1 you have new bootloader and you are warranty off. When Knox flag is there 0x0 you have also new bootloader, but you are still in warranty and when you'll flash any custom recovery or unofficial firmware via Odin, you'll have then Knox 0x1 and you will be warranty off - so it's on your deciding. When isn't in download mode any records about about Knox, you still have old bootloader (from android 4.1.2).
- since the new sammy Android 4.4.4 bootloader, now there is also a line in blue color saying ´´SECURE DOWNLOAD : ENABLED''
About @MaHo_66 's opinion, please read here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56506775&postcount=12. I hope he will not find any problem of sharing his post
I also recommand to upgrade to an Android 4.4.4 build but it's your choice and it depends on what you want to do with your phone (install custom ROM or not = warranty stuffs / if you want to sell the phone later, ....). Also I think you will not be able to flash any older official build (Android 4.1.2 or 4.3) if you upgrade to 4.4.4 because of the bootloader. I recommand it mainly because there is no more this random ******* stuck mdm_hsic_pm0 wakelock issue appeared since sammy Android 4.3 and which was a big problem for battery life. And also because it's smoother and faster.
I hope for you that @viktorak service mode trick will work for you if you decide to upgrade to android 4.4.4 official.
