Hey guys I have a little problem with my One (and only ). Yesterday I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it but didn't S-OFF... So I searched for tutorials on xda and found tutorials for S-OFF'ing using exploits like firewater, revone etc. But the thing is that revone isn't working on 4.4.2 and firewater won't to work with the stock HTC kernel. I searched for an another tutorial how to get firewater working and it said that I should install Android Revolution HD... And the problem right now is that it won't install because it gives me an error set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed... And now I don't have any ROM installed on my One, just TWRP... Can anyone help me installing a ROM? Please :crying:

yeah download a rom first , then you need to install it through the usb-otg cable or by sideload . its not difficult at all , but first you need a rom of your choice , dont worry thats no problem.

Yes I'm doing wipes
EDIT:
So... I did it, I installed Android Revolution HD The key to success was TWRP 2.6.3.3 (this one http://techerrata.com/get/twrp2/m7/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img to be exact). Then I sideloaded the ROM, did a reset and BANG! I saw the HTC One logo

Yep the 2.7 causes a lot of issues, I do believe the latest version of twrp is solid now though.

Hello.
Your bootloader is unlocked, so S-OFF or S-ON is not that important (though you cannot downgrade the hboot with S-ON, so you are stuck on 1.54 untill a tool for S-OFF on HBOOT 1.54 is made - im in the same situation by the way).
1. Flash custom recovery (TWRP or CWM)
2. Install a custom rom (im running with this one, based on android 4.3, GE (Google Edition) of Android.
3. Done
EDIT: No, S-OFF is not required, unless you want to flash CUSTOM firmwares or a few other things. Custom rom and custom recovery is doable as long as your bootloader is unlocked.
Kind Regards

This is good if he will only have the GE rom, if he will do a fully convert he need the s-off
Couldnt he flash the stock GE rom as a zip? Why is S-OFF needed? Because it must come as a RUU?
And thank you for the assistance in my earlier thread! :good: Recognized the sig instantly!

I think if your at 1.54 you can't s-off without some decent work. Have you tried some of the GE ROM's? I've been using the SinLessROM 4.1 GE and its better then stock GE if you ask me. Good luck with whatever path you take.

S-OFF is not avail for 1.54. Not without java-card and and only proof is a YT video - no tools: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF1CxtbPhV4
Thanks all for these clear and quick responses!
I would prefer the full monty: having an OTA updateable Google Edition
but for now a (as little as possible customized) GE-ROM will do fine
Which ROM can I flash, and what's the best way to do so?

Backup apps and settings with titanium backup. For the 3 dot menu there is an xposed mod for that. Note that installing xposed on the HTC one is different than usually, due to the system partition being protected in some way (changes are lost on reboot).

Hello,
I'm using HTC One which was initially locked by 3 network (UK) and i got it unlocked last month. I have unlocked my boot-loader and rooted my phone recently. My phone got updated to android version 4.3, after the upgrade i tried performing S-OFF using REVONE but i was not able to S-OFF my device. To install a custom ROM i have to be S-OFF. I have HBOOT version 1.55.0000

1- relocking was not the wisest decision, better unlock again
2- to install custom rom, you only need unlocked bootloader and custom recovery. S-Off is NOT needed
3- to get s-off on hboot 1.55, use http://rumrunner.us/ (with compatible ROM, I think ARHD 31.6 should work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023)

use latest TWRP (2.6.3.3 or above), i believe CWM hasn't been updated for 4.4 ROMs yet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173870
verify MD5 of twrp before flashing!!
TWRP should work, maybe need to format. I always use the HTC One Developer Edition RUU zip that can be found on HTC Dev site as well as the numerous threads around XDA.

Good Day!!
Last week my phone is running normal and fine(Just recieved 4.4kitkat), having absolutely no problems at all.. I'm just curious ...why do you think it's so necessary to have s-off ?
you don't need it to flash roms and you don't need it with your current firmware.
all you really can't do is flash old firmwares and RUU's but why would you care if your phone works fine ?
