I'm thinking about buying a Gear Live to develop a heart-rate related app but not sure if the sensor data is available to developer.
I have a Gear 2 (running Tizen), they used to let heart-rate sensor available in Tizen sdk 1.0.0b1 but now removed it in b2.
Any tip? thanks.
I am running Tizen SDK Version : 1.0.0, Build id : 20140411-1445, and have no issues accessing Heart Rate Sensor.
IMHO, there is no point in buying Gear Live if you have Gear 2, just install android wear on it, and it will present itself to apps as Gear Live

Does the Gear Live have a workout mode like running and cycling on my Neo 2? I use it everyday and have to have it on there.

I am sure it will eventually have apps like Runtastic and such that will work. Just curios if it has any out of the box.
Does this watch have built in GPS?
Gear Live actively tracks your steps & heart rate on-demand; no workout mode currently available. GPS data obtained from paired device. Fitness apps are forthcoming, for instance Viewranger is releasing app with Google Wear support http://www.viewranger.com/en-gb/abo...offers-active-navigation-through-android-wear
Ok thanks for the info.

I'm sure this will come very soon after release. I see it being a main focus with these devices.

Runtastic has now updated to support wear fully. It has cards (displaying the usual summary info you get on phone, or something similar to what it does on sw2 already). And actions such as pause, start, view map etc. In fact iirc they have updated their screenshots on google play to show off wear functionality.

Yup...it appears that apps are starting to receive AW updates. Another fitness app recently updated with AW functionality is RunKeeper - pretty cool app; it integrates voice control.

it has to use the smartphone to tracking the activitys. can't use the android wear it self alone like fitbit, or gear neo.
Is there any way to get S Health to connect to and android wear device?
Nope... S-Health is only compatible with Samsung trackers and a select few from Adidas, Garmin and Timex.
It's not even compatible with Samsung's Gear Live watch.
Hello!
I saw there was a thread for Note 4 / Motion Controller already, but it seems to have stalled because only people who know NOVA Launcher, perhaps can help, but won't know it; So I put Nova in the title. The problem: Oculus DELIBERATELY DEPRECATED the Motion Controller from working on note 4 (which it was working on fine, and destroyed my ability to finish Apps in production). So, we Note 4 deveoopeds of Gear VR apps, need to reinstall the older setup. All the APKs havd been located, but The closest anyone has come to making it work is a guy who says this:
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
"Hi everyone! So glad I can contribute to XDA!
you want to use Nova launcher activities (google it) and something like Aptoide to download the following:
Oculus VR apks (Home, App framework, etc.) as many as possible
More important still : download apps of Samsung's "Gear VR" service, setup wizard, system, input service, etc.
No need to root.
Once downloaded, create activities in Nova launcher widget on touchwiz or direct on Nova or custom launcher. Create them esp for Input Service to pair that VR controller that's the best $30/30€ you'd ever spend...
Better news still, all this is DPI free so if like me you are using a low setting for extra space on your Note 4 screen esp with the docking station HDMI that gave us D'ex before Dex, it does not screw with your stock VR apps."
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
While it's cool he suceeded, and nice of him to mention it, it is a little vague, it has however I believe ONE PERTINENT CLUE = This 'NOVA Launcher' mention. Perhaps a dev familiar with NOVA can discern what he means? How could NOVA sta din for Wifi and install apks instead? Gear VR auto installs all the apks over WIFI, and manual install, doesn't work.
I need to find how to (use NOVA?) to get OCULUS installed manually with downloaded APK's. ( https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&page=2&s=Oculus )
This guy who wrote the above did so almost a month ago, and people have since asked him for some details, but after 30 days with no further word, I don't think he'll be sharing anymore about his mysterious process.
Please help if you can, I will endeavor to pay it forward in my 5 technical specialities.
Samsung Phonecast don't work anymore since the Update to Android 10 on my S10.
Before that i could use any App on Phonecast qhile the Oculus App Store s bery limited.
My Phone was fully Usable in Gear with Phonecast.
Now it ist nearly Useless with the Gear. The only Apps i can use in Oculus on the Gear are Youtube and Netflix. Phonecast starts but when i start an App on Labs, it will not start and leeps loading without sucess.
Since the Update on Android 10 My GameLauncher is now difficult to start too, because i can not use it from the Buttom of the Screen. The Gamelauncher has no Link on its Quickpanel and i have to go over the Quickpanel of the Phone on the Top of the Screen.
I can not use my Linux App anymore since the Update on Android 10. Samsungs Linus on Dex Beta worked fine before, even qhen Samsung stopped supporting it, but since the Android 10 Update, i can not use it anymore.
And last, but not least, i can not go back to Android 9
Obviously Samsung did that intentionlly to force to dissaude us from the Gear VR like they did that with Linux on Beta.
Therefore to keep your will and to self-determined, you have to prevent the Update. But even that Samsung and Google want to enforce by announcing to force automated Updates in the next Future.
They want to dictate us how to use Equipments.
Wasn't it the Reason why Android was developed?
Now they use this against us.
But back to my first Problem:
Wgat is going wrong with Samsung Phonecast on Gear VR, when using it with Android on S10?

Has anyone been successful in using Sleep As Android with this watch? When I try to add the watch in the app, it opens the Play Store to the Galaxy Wearable app and says "this app is not compatible with your device". I already have the modified Galaxy Wearable app installed on my phone (Pixel 4 XL). I can't seem to get it to work.
I would appreciate any feedback.
You have to add companion app to the watch. I think it's Gear Plugin for Sleep or something like that.
Yes, it does work with Sleep as Android. Although it won't use the SPo2 reader. I'm anxious to see if it will on the GW4, but that sensor is wildly inaccurate on the GW3.
