Hi,
I'm really stressing out right now because my HTC one is stuck in bootloader and i think i've tried everything.
Basically i thought it would be fun to root my phone (first time), i used the cyanogenmod installer. But i really did not like the looks of thing and actually wanted to go back to sense 6. Although i can't really remember what i actually did to remove CM, but i managed to. And now all i get is the fastboot/bootloader screen.
Adb won't recognize my phone, USB-debugging is turned off, S-ON, and bootloader is RELOCKED.
I have not flashed a recovery even though i did try to but failed.
I really have no clue what to do now.
Please is there still a solution or did i screw up my phone for good?
Thanks in advance, Giagi

first thing is first, get your bootloader unlocked again, you cant do anything to fix your phone before you do that, and that is why the recovery failed to install, once that is done, download and install TWRP recovery 2.6.3.3 from here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7 it has the best success rate, and flash it.
Fastboot commands are for when you are in the bootloader, ADB is only for when you are in recovery and in a ROM.
Once all that is done you will be able to push and flash any custom ROM.
ps, put USB debugging out of your mind, it has nothing to do with what you are trying to do.
Thanks for your respond. But as far as i can tell i either need to enable USB-debugging in order to unlock bootloader, or i need to do it via htcdev for which i need adb to recognize my phone. Or did i miss anything?
I did not use the htcdev method the first time so i do not have a token.

Do you have your USB drivers installed on your computer, can you post a screen shot of your device manager whilst your phone is plugged into the PC ?
USB debugging is only for when you are booted into a ROM, and as you don't have a working rom on your phone, it doesn't apply.
Are you S-OFF ?
If not then you will have to goto HTC Dev and follow their instructions on how to unlock your bootloader
Put your phone in bootloader mode, plug it into the PC, it will then say fastboot USB, not ADB USB, ie fastboot commands not ADB commands.
post your fastboot getvar all please.

I downloaded Android Revolution HD 71.1 and installes the zip via CWM but it does not seem to work.

It doesn't work because you installed CWM, I said install TWRP recovery 2.6.3.3, most custom rom's require that recovery, it should also mention that in the original thread of the rom you flashed.
I will need your fastboot getvar all output in order to know what your stock rom is.

I did not put developer edition on my phone knowingly.
OS-5.11.1540.9
It used to be something else 5.11.401.10 i believe.

yup 401 is your correct version for your CID, the strange thing is, you can only flash firmware if you are s-off, or if you had a lower firmware first.
this is your correct stock reset file, but I wouldn't flash it myself as your firmware doesn't match anymore: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_3-62-401-1-zip/
Stock ROM version for these types:
modelid: PN0710000
cid: HTC__001, HTC__E11
HTC__102, HTC__203
HTC__405, HTC__Y13
HTC__304, HTC__032
HTC__A07, HTC__J15
HTC__016
im sorry but I don't have any experience with dev edition firmware and not sure which ruu's etc you can flash, maybe one of the other senior members can guide you from here.
But if I was to be up front with you, especially with you being s-on, I would say you were stuck with custom rom's only now, as you cant back flash or flash the correct firmware without s-off.

And this one?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023
I believe it's a custom ROM but i've not been able to get it to work.
Do you know of a way to revert back to the original OS? (preferable with S-On)

Sorry, to bother you again, but it seems as if my problem is not completely resolved.
Every time i shut down my phone it goes into a bootloop, where it boots up, stay on for about 2 mins where it just works as normal, and then shuts down again. After which it reboots again and so on.
The first time this happened i did a factory reset and this seemed to work. But after i shut down my phone for a second time the problem appeared again. And i really don't want to reset it again.
Hello community,
first of all i want to say that i am now trying to fix my problems since the past 10 hours!
So here it is:
I bought a new HTC One M7 on last saturday. After i done the first steps i checked if there were updates available. So it was. I updated it and after it was done i checked if there is another update. But it wasnt.
So i thought this was the latest and newest firmware and i started to use it.
After a few days i wanted to have sweep2wake. I rooted my device and flashed the Bulletproof 14.2 kernel which is close to stock but with sweep2wake.
Btw i flashed the TWRP recovery.
All went perfect on first try.
On saturday i ordered a case for my HTC One M7 from ROCK with the window on top (which came on monday). I read that i need Sense 6 in order to get it work. But i was on Sense 5.5. I wondered at this point because i updated it on saturday to the latest version. So to make sure i checked it again. And yes there was actually a update to sense 6. But now the problem was that i rooted my device and got custom kernel/recovery. This was a problem.
So first i tried to get back to Stock recovery and relock the phone before updating. (Btw i forgot to get the stock kernel back on). But as i relocked the device, it got stuck in bootloader. Always booting in bootloader. After many trys i got it back to unlock and than i tried to install the update (still with custom kernel). It failed!
Than i thought that i just could restore my backup ( backup was made before i rooted my device with adb) but this doesnt help to install the OTA Update.
I also tried to restore my nandroid backup from TWRP but the problem was, after i restored the ADB backup the nandroid update wasnt on my device. But i saved it on my PC. Now the problem was that i couldnt copy any files over to my HTC M7! :crying:
I tried so many things to get it back to work but its still not working. So i cant copy over my nandroid backup or other things.
Adb push doesnt work too.
Next problem is that i cant find original RUU for my device.
Here is what my bootloaderscreen says:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
M7_UL PUT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-4A.26.3263.18
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Apr 21 2014, 15:48:24. 0
My firmware (looked up in settings) is: 4.20.111.21
CID: T-MOB101 DE
And there is NO RUU for this device on the internet. This made me sad. Btw after the restores the Bulletproof kernel is still on device.
So i hope you can help me get this Sense 6 OTA Update on this Phone and help to get back the ability to copy things from my pc to my phone.
If you need data from me just post the needed ones.
Now the only thing i can do is wait for your helpful answers.
Sincerely YaaOmo

Follow this post on what to do when you don't have an OS. This will help you get your phone working and talking to your computer. When you get this up and running, we can then address updating your phone.

The thought on the ROM was to put your backup that is on your PC onto your phone. You say your system is running but is it communicating with your phone? If it is then you should be able to run both ADB and FASTBOOT commands. If not, then you might need to install new HTC drivers.
@djtrex If you have a nandroid backup of your stock rom 4.20.111.21 could you post it for Yaaomo? Thanks!

When you plug your phone to the computer, in Device Manager you should see Android USB Devices -> My HTC. If you don't then you need to re-install your HTC drivers. If that doesn't work then you will need an OTG cable so you can hook up an USB drive to your phone to put files on it.

To take OTA's you need a couple of things
1. Stock ROM
2. Stock Recovery
3. And I believe a locked bootloader.
You cannot have anything custom at all.
If you didn't take an nandroid backup of your stock rom you will have to try and find one on the web, or maybe via GURU1.
Install stock ROM, flash stock recovery through fastboot.. once flashed fastboot erase cache, relock your bootloader then you should be back 100% stock and should b able now to get OTA's.
good luck

WIth all the conversation above, I think its now simple. Just do this in the order.
1. Copy the nandroid backup you did before rooting on the Phone, in the exact location.
2. Now boot into recovery, and restore the backup. I suppose this will also restore the stock kernel. reboot the device and check in the settings ->about. If not, find the stock kernel in the forums and flash that through recovery.
3. flash the stock recovery. (you'll easily find in the forums).
4. lastly lock the bootloader.
reboot, find for updates and update your phone. It will happen smoothly.

Hi, first of all thanks for your answer. I know the required things to do OTAs. But again i dont know why, i can see my phone in device manager and i can go on sdcard but i cant copy things over. It says "Copy pprozess canceled".
I tried to restore my nandroid backup with OTG. It was successful but i got the custom Bulletproof kernel. And yesterday i searched (like i said) for Stock ROM/Kernel but it doesnt exist for my device. So thats a problem.

I think your only solution at this point is to extract the boot.img file from the International (4.19.401.11) firmware. You can find stock firmware packages at this site. I would think your phone will boot up with it since lot of the custom roms use this as their base. If that doesn't work or you don't want to try it, then I would try to get S-OFF. Then you could change your CID & MID (if necessary) to flash the Int'l RUU. Then you will be able to get the latest updates a little quicker.

You need to get S-OFF first or the RUU will not run. Here is the site for firewater S-OFF, read the instructions and prerequisites very carefully. If you follow @nkk71 Guide for Going Back to Stock on how to flash a different branded RUU. Just stop following the guide after you flash the RUU and start receiving the OTA.

Give rumrunner a try. Some S-OFF schemes work on some phones and not others. If you can not get S-OFF, then you will have to install a custom rom unless someone can get you a stock nandroid.
Could you post a fastboot getvar all with the imei and serial number blocked or erased? Also, update your recovery to twrp-2.7.1.2 there are changes made to this version which would have eliminated the missing OS.

I flashed the new recovery but there is still no OS.
EDIT: I now got a custom ROM on my phone. ARHD. In some formus they said the combination of Bulletproof 14.2 and ARHD 71.1 can make the phone to S-OFF. Didn't work for me. So my last question is if i can get S-OFF with another tool or is it atm not available for my phone?
look you original cid o T-MOS101 and roms *.**.111.* so you cant intall roms HTC_001 *.**.401.*
try this one Guru Reset M7 2.24.111.3
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-111-3-zip/
in aroma instal also stock recovery and radio
good luck
ps also read that http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/
Hello, as title says, I need help with going back to stock. I bought this phone super cheap (120€) from some german guy. It works like a charm, but my native language is nowhere so I decided to root and use morelocale2. But when I root I can't update. I already relocked bootloader.
Now I need to pick up right (RUU?), but I just can't understand it.
Radio-4T.27.3218.14
HBOOT-1.57.0000
OS-5.11.401.10
I wondered if I can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2753631 , but it's called firmware so i don't know if it's ota or ruu, or i need to use that stock firmware downwards or am I completely wrong?
Thanks for all responses, cheers
There is no RUU available for your phone version If your phone is S Off then you can flash 4.19.401.9 RUU
If not then you have to restore nandroid backup or flash stock Rom reset according to your software version

unlock bootloader
flash twrp recovery 2.6.3.3
download and save the zip from method 1 in your adb/fastboot folder
with your phone in recovery, push the zip to your /sdcard either by using adb push or adb sideload
install the zip on your phone using twrp recovery
choose yes to wipe/stock recovery/stock radio
reboot phone
download and install ota
enjoy your phone
and btw there is not much difference between 4.4.2 and 4.4.3, only some security fixes and a crappy file manager.

Just what do you want to do? I see you relocked your bootloader. Do you still have a custom recovery installed? Post a fastboot getvar all (except imei and serialno).

You should be able to download the OTA from the phone. However, you may have some missing files that the OTA will be looking to update. In the post where you got the ROM towards the bottom is a preload file zip. If you need them this is where you can get them to complete the update.

I don't think I'm missing some files. I didn't install the aroma zip with TWRP, I installed them with CWM. Successful. But when I tried to install software update, my phone reset, I didn't watch the installation, but when phone booted, it had setup screen on it. I'm currently downloading a 4.4.3 OTA so we'll see.
EDIT: Downloaded OTA, put in sdcard, trying to boot into recovery, phone automatically boot to ota install, instead of green, it's red and after a while back to android. Im hopeless guys, I think i'll live with 4.2.2 and let someone more experienced and more skilled let this do.

you can not apply ota manually from stock recovery with s-on. go in settings --> about --> software update
First time you did, your phone performed a factory reset right? This happen sometimes when re-installing stock recovery. just apply the ota again from settings --> about --> software updates.
then if you get a red triangle with an exclamation mark inside, hold vol+ and press power then release both and you should see some text in yellow. post the text if it fail.

Hello Everyone,
I have read multiple guides from here and want to emphasize what a great community this place seems to be!
I am a proud owner of an HTC One M7 with Miui installed.

I don't know how to choose the correct RUU. The only thing which comes close to what I have in terms of software version is this:
RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_4.19.401.9_R_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353069_signed_2-1.exe
Should I use it?
Also, most of the guides start with the assumption that your phone is S-OFF (not really sure what that means exactly, but that's a different conversation).
Does that mean I can skip the steps for getting it back to S-ON from those guides and continue onward or I should get it first to S-OFF, do whatever needs to be done and then get it back to S-ON and continue with the RUU?
Thanks a lot, guys!
Best,
Wisher

That RUU will work for you, but it won't do any good for reinstating your warranty. You need to be s-off to return to 100% stock.
As you will need to set the bootloader back to ***LOCKED*** which requires s-off. With s-on the best you will get is ***RELOCKED*** and that's a sure sign the device was tampered with.

Thanks for your replies.
So how do I go about getting a newer RUU?
I am currently trying to get S-OFF with rumrunner... hopefully it will work.
If I get it to be S-OFF, what should I do from that point on?

If you use that ruu you won't be able to get s-off, there is no working method to s-off hboot 1.60. You'd be better off finding a stock Rom to flash and get s-off with rumrunner. Once you update past hboot 1.57 you will have to pay $25 for sunshine to s-off and as I mentioned if you go to hboot 1.60 you will ha e to wait for a new exploit that will work with that version. No doubt that will also be an updated version of Sunshine
What's wrong with paying for S-OFF? Gotta show the Devs some love
So the current option is to find a stock 401.11 ROM?
Any ideas where to look for one?
I have found the original/stock OTA zip file for the 401.11 update from an article by Android Revolution HD.
Also the 401.11 stock firmware zip from the android revolution collection.
(sorry, I'm too new of a user and can't post the actual links but they can be found by googling "4.19.401.11 ruu" and seeing the android revolution blogspot article)
Am I correct in thinking that I should do the following:
1. Flash with this firmware (since it is the stock one).
2. Install the OTA zip with fastboot (I think there is a tutorial on how to do this). Will this work the same as installing a RUU?
3. Run rumrunner while still on hboot 1.56
4. Go to S-OFF
5. Return everything to stock
6. Apply latest OTA (lolipop etc.)
7. Pay the price if I want to have S-OFF later.
Best,
Wisher

No RUU, flash this inside TWRP recovery just like you would with a custom rom, only this will make your phone stock.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358545524
you cant manually flash OTA's whilst s-on, also you shouldnt need to flash firmware that you are already on.

get s-off as long as you can, do not accept any updates.
after s-off you will need to flash HBOOT 1.44 and a very early RUU, then get rid of the flags and s-on before updating.
removing the flags and then going s-on with anything higher than HBOOT 1.54 and the flags come back on the next reboot.

Important Thanks
Got the following with rumrunner:
ERROR: looks like device is not rooted AND lacks an unsecure kernel. su or FU!!

However I can do "adb shell" and then "su" brings me to be a super user.
What is different to what the situation was when I was with MIUI is that now when I type "adb shell" I am not automatically root (don't have # but $ at the console). When I do "su", the $ changes to #, which basically means that I am root.
I guess rumrunner has a requirement that you are root by default when logging via adb shell.
Any idea on a fix?

There's nothing wrong with paying for s-off. I have purchased Sunshine myself when necessary, and made regular donations to other devs. but it's only fair to inform people of there options before you land them with a $25 solution not everyone has money to spare for that sort of thing. :good:

You should try rumrunner with the Rom @Seanie280672 posted to gain s-off. Not guaranteed to work as HTC started patching firmware at this point but if you need 100% stock it's your best chance to s-off without Sunshine.
If rumrunner won't work Sunshine is still cheaper than paying for the repair, and when you get your device back you can use Sunshine again for free, as long as it is the same device and not a replacement :good:

Thanks for the info.
I did select to have the phone rooter.
However, I remembered that I forgot to switch fastboot off while testing rumrunner with the ROM from @Seanie280672.
I have now disabled this and am trying again. If it doesn't work, will reinstall the ROM again with CWM and *make sure* to have super user privileges (although I do have the Superuser app installed now just after flashing.)
I also remember that I had some super user issues when I was trying to install MIUI and had to install some zip via CWM. I still have that zip so will try with it.
Again, thank you VERY VERY much for helping me out!

your better off using TWRP recovery to flash the rom, there should be an option to root during the installer, but if there isnt then TWRP will ask you if you would like to root before leaving recovery.

Did it via CWM, made sure to select to root the phone. Still, I can do "su" when in the phone shell via adb, but it won't be directly with root access after "adb shell".
Now will try with TWRP (since installing the guru reset rom also resets the recovery to the HTC stock) and report back.
Good thing is I still have the MIUI backed up to use with CWM.
I will write soon.

Hello guys! Ive been reading you all for a couple days now because i bought myself an used HTC One M7 from AT&T. Now, as soon as i got it i saw it was running android 4.1.2 and i can't live with that. I found a way to update it thru RUU up to 4.3 (before, i S-OFF and SuperCIDed) and now i'm trying to run a 4.4 RUU but it doesnt seem to work. It keeps on getting stuck at 5% even when ive followed some people comments as installing all versions of windows Visual C++, disabling usb debugging, also ive relocked bootloader because of it but nothing seems to work.

Do any of you guys know how to proceed?
My goal is to get Lollipop STOCK.
Thank you!
If i remember correct u cant install a ruu while you are s-off, but the easiest way to update your device would be just flash twrp and than install a newer backup from here (in the forum you can find every Stock System as a twrp backup).

Thank you very much for your quick answer. I have applied the 4.3 RUU while being S-OFF, but i think ive read the same as you... Now, is that possible? I mean, just restoring a nandroid backup to update to 4.4 then to lolli? I mean i am not that noob regarding messing with phones but HTC ones are too darn complicated haha @saturday_night

Sure it is possible, i always did the same until HTC stoped updating this device. It is the esiest way to install Stock updates while you have done changes to the system and OTA Updates dont work. You can if, you want to, also install a MM or a N Rom (N Roms are still in development and not bug free) i´m using XenonHD (7.1) at the moment and looks really stable, just flashing the latest update from today now haha.
OMG thats so awesome! It looks like a silly thing but theres too much information around this forums and everything is so messy, even more for a someone whos not an english native speaker haha since im new to this device (i had one in 2014 for like a month but forgot everything i did to it) i just want to get it to the top it can be to try out sense 6 and all its features then ill be messing with it much more. Now that you're here and you're too kind would you recommend a lollipop rom that you liked the best? ill be trying MM but in a week or two when i get bored of these! @saturday_night

I just read that you dont need to be S-On to flash a ruu, just the bootloader must be relocked. You can easily download the first file in this thread and follow the instructions there in the first post and you should be done. http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/lollipop-ruu-zip-small-collection-t3053944

You can flash RUUs with s-off without any problems, and you don't have to relock your bootloader. That is obligatory only for s-on devices. Why don't you download RUU.zip instead of RUU.exe, and flash it via fastboot?
Edit: Sorry, wrong post quoted, but everything applies to OP

I believe I am not? That's lolli update and as far as I know I should be going by steps because of the hboot. I'm now on 3.x firmware, I shall go to 4 then 5 and then I can go all up to 7 isn't it? That's why i was so surprised regarding the nandroid information you gave me.

Well as said in other posts information is too messy with discontinued guides and stuff and I just find hard to do anything without compromising my phone just because of messy information but sure I will if I can't find any other solution to this matter I just hate downloading big files since my net speed goes up to 200kb/s lol

To flash RUU or Firmware on a S-ON phone:
Bootloader must be locked or re-locked
RUU or Firmware must be signed (Official ruu or firmware)
To flash RUU or Firmware on a S-OFF phone:
Bootloader locked/unlocked doesn't matter
RUU or Firmware can be signed or not (custom firmware/ruu or official firmware/ruu)
the "incremental way"to update apply only if you're flashing firmware.zip extracted from an ota update
If flashing a RUU you don't need to flash them all incrementally, just the latest one
BUT
to install a lollipop RUU, your phone must be running at least hboot 1.57 (firmware 6.xx.xxx.x) (there was no requirements of this kind before lollipop)
Since your phone is S-OFF, you could simply update your firmware to at least 6.xx.xxx.x and then flash the latest RUU (7.xx.xxx.xx)
And time to convert to another version if you don't care about the at&t bloatware (i.e developer edition which is basically the exact same rom as at&t minus the at&t' bloat)
Make sure to flash a complete firmware.zip (not one from an ota update) if you're going to do this.
btw +1 for using fastboot instead of ruu.exe. At least when someting goes wrong during the process, you can have some detailed info about the problem unlike when using an ruu.exe where you'll only get a generic error code.

Thank you very much for your quick answer! I understand that now very well, thanks! Now just another question before i proceed.... I know i have to upgrade my firmware up to 6.x in order to flash the RUU but my doubt comes to finding the 'complete firmware.zip ( not one from an ota update)' Ive found something done by mike1986 but there are no firmwares for 502 (AT&T/Cingular) devices. Else than that i just found pieces of firmware that just weight 20-30mb and i don't think thats what you mean... Also have found just lollipop ones like the one on your signature. I don't like to be begging for links but i can't seem to find it even on htc1guru.. Thank you very much and have a great day! @alray

You can use this one, its not .502, its .1540. It does not really matters since after that you'll be flashing the RUU and the firmware will be updated again to match the RUU.
If you don't want at&t bloatware you should flash the 7.17.1540.51 ruu, you can find it on htc's wesbite (google search for "HTC rom download", the first link should be the right one). Otherwise if you really want the at&t version, flash the last one from at&t.
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip Firmware_6.07.1540.2.zip
fastboot flash zip Firmware_6.07.1540.2.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
(flash command must be done twice)
then launch your ruu.exe or if you'll be using a ruu.zip:
Code:
fastboot oemrebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip <filename>.zip
fastboot reboot
(flash command to be done only once and using htc_fastboot.exe not the normal fastboot.exe)
