Hi guys, you might not be familiar with me, so to cut it short, I'm a Dev, and I'm trying to help some of the users affected by the root released before. To be able to do this I need the files, which were erased from the post, and the "Dev" have not responded to my pm to share them with me.
Real users where affected by this, soft bricks all around, there's a good chance we can repaired this devices. But without the modified script there is no way of telling what happened to the device.
Anyone with the files please feel free to pm me.
Side note: maybe even on the process of fixing the device we could discover the needed root.

I sent him a PM, he either ignored it, or does not want to share with me the files. and as you can see im trying to see if anyoine at all has the files. We have a rare opurtunity with you, cause your device ran the root, and something did change, i just wish this "hackers/dev" dint run and hide each time they caused a booboo
I have to apologize to you termiti, the few devs here do not collaborate. They are territorial and a bit psycho. For that reason in between others I won't be able to help you. Now my friend, if you find the files, you know where to find me on IRC. and don't worry soon enough a sbf will come out and you might be able to restore the device.

When you've read these two, come back and edit your post. You're very unlikely to get any sort of help if you post stuff the way you did.
So helpful in this thread, cheers

Hey guys. My XDA pal built me a MIUI test build. I'll be perfectly honest with you guys, I'm a little gun shy after some people bricked their phones while on AOSP. I kind of want someone else to be the test dummy
If you understand that this is only a test build that has never been tried before AND that the maker of this test build does not have this phone AND if something goes wrong with the flash I or the creator of the test build will not be held responsible.
Ok, that is the first disclaimer I have ever had to write over here. Without further delay...here is the link:
Hopefully one of you guys is more courageous than myself. Logcats would be appreciated. If this build is actually somewhat functional and we provide LOGCATS I'm sure he will continue working on it.
EDIT: I forgot to mention this point: He told me that before flashing this I should delete the NFC.apk. These are the steps:
1. download the test build and confirm MD5.
2. using WinRAR or similar program navigate to SYSTEM>APP>NFC.APK
3. right click and hit DELETE FILES
4. the MIUI Test build zip should now be w/o the NFC.apk
Update: Link has been temporarily pulled until kernel issue is resolved.
Was this built for the Sprint One specifically?
This looks sweet...make sure befpre everyone downloads to check to make sure its actually sprint. Build.prop boot.img updater script etc.
Lemme download n check
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
Yes, it was built for the Sprint HTC One. However, he does not have this phone. He based his work off of one of our CM builds. I would imagine that any bug we currently have on CM would be present in this test build.
EDIT: I should add this to the OP but it may be overkill...please make a nandroid before attempting to flash this.
Does he think it would boot because im friekin excited then

Well he wouldn't have made it for me if he thought there was NO chance of it booting. He banged it out pretty fast though so I don't put too much faith into it. If I wasn't such a big wuss I would just flash it...but alas, I am a wuss so I'll let someone more savvy than myself give it a shot first.
Maybe ill wait too. It looks pretty good for the most part. I downloaded it. Well ill wait and see i guess.

At least you had an idea of what things to look for in a possibly working build. I wouldn't know where to start. If you decide to flash it please keep us posted!
You'll want to pull the link. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but it seems he had an issue with the kernel. I have yet to come up with the time to fix it, as I just had a long day with the kids. I'll try to look at it when I get home.

I couldn't get WIFI to successfully turn on ? I rebooted and wiped cache/davlik cache and still no success. Everything else seems working really good to be so early !
So I am newer to the development for custom recoveries for LG phones. Knowing that the loki is still locked it doesn't mean we can't start working on some new ROM's and the custom recoveries for the phone. So I thought I would open this up so that we can start working on it together on what we are all waiting for: custom recovery with a cool ROM and modding some of the features and apks that came with the phone (quick remote, q slide, etc.).
I am starting with the TWRP and CM that have been made for the G2 in the hopes that it won't take as long to develop. Would making a repo on github be the easiest way to host the code and have source control? I look forward to working and learning from those who choose to participate.

That would be the way to go!! I would love to help out but unfortunately my knowledge is nill when it comes to custom recoveries and such!! But count me in if a tester(guinea pig) is needed for testing! Whatever gets us closer to having a working recovery!! Count me IN!!!

The custom recovery is not possible at the moment with a locked bootloader, and unless it gets FreeGee or Loki a custom recovery won't be possible, unless you have safestrap. Which you'll need @Hashcode for that.
But as far as modding APKs, that's easy, pull them using adb or copy, decompile, make your mods, compile, and push back to phone. Adb might be best, and I suggest a shell stop if pushing framework or systemUI.
While its awesome your wanting to contribute to the community however, this thread should be moved to general.

I've been using XPosed for the time being. I was hoping that maybe we'd get lucky and somebody would be able to find a way around the bootloader with Safestrap.. I will just keep my toes crossed for the time being. Thanks for the info though..:good:

I can definitely move it to general if that is the rule, but I am doing this in anticipation for either an unlocked loki or boot loader. I'm sure it won't be that long before one or the other is unlocked.
Thanks for the info on the apks I appreciate it. I've been doing android development for a while now but haven't really gotten into the ROMs more than modding some of the CM and PSX ROM s on my rooted development phones and tablets. I was hoping to start this thread to get some people in on the Flex development so we could figure out an exploit or workaround on the boot loader or loki. The more we know about the device itself The better to understand how to work around the vendor's security right? And if there is development being done then you would want it in a development thread right? If I am wrong then I will apologize and move it.

I have been waiting patiently for this and am so excited at how quickly things are moving for this device. It really shouldn't be too very much longer but in the meantime I will continue working on my ROM and patiently wait for those that are working on this to make it so we don't brick our devices trying to unlock what LG doesn't seem like they want unlocked. And to be honest I'm not that impressed with the LG ROM but I do like aspects. The quick remote is nice and the quick slide has proved useful so I would like to keep those but get rid of all the bloat and that LG keyboard.

As to who is working on what I will allow them to tell you. This really wasn't a thread to steal the thunder from the developers that are working so hard to access what we currently can't. I put this thread up to start a dialogue on ROM creation in anticipation for the unlocked loki or bootloader. Having said that I will keep everyone updated on what I hear but I am going to let the people that are doing it post if first so as to not steal their thunder.
What do you guys think, as we wait patiently for news :/ would be the best base for a custom ROM for the Flex? CyanogenMod, AOSP, AOKP, or maybe PSX? I have started two different ROM projects; one CyanogenMod and a vanilla AOSP ROM which seams to be easier to work with if you are newer to the ROM building process. I'm interested to here a why and how from those who have built a ROM from compiling to posting. So what are we thinking for the Flex because it is going to be interesting because of the screen size and native resolution.

great choice, cloudyfa is a very great developer. i just wish he had a flex so we would be moving in some sort of direction.
@Cloudyfa he does some great work for the g2 i was using his cloudy g3 port on my g2. but our device doesnt have that much a difference flex we would just need people to test lets hope he has the time to spare to even work our device
It would be great to get the port for this phone because there is almost no development for it. This must be the slowest development out of all the phones I've had.

Developement is slow, because, Lg has locked down our devices and just recently we've finally gotten TWRP with much thanks to those bump guys. We have all been in your shoes complaining of no developement, but, have all settled down, because, we only have a couple devs, such as playfulgod and mattwheat. We do not have much people working on our device so its going to be a while before anything stable is released.
What i do is, root, install TWRP, grab a few things,.zip files from the g2 or g3 forums i find attractive and flash it. Install xposed and tweak my system a bit. After all a custom rom is just tweaked a bit with visuals.
If you are too lazy, learn developement and contribute to this community.

Well first we need to push development on our kernel whats the point of adding this patch if we can't get our kernel to work properly. Also it won't be a bad idea to have some g2 devs helps us out with the kernel; but yet again they(g2 devs) still use loki instead of bump so if they decide to jump on the bump wagon we would benefit alot. Nice find doe.
