Will we get a recovery that can flash ASOP ROMS? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

I know we have Safestrap, and I am very thankful for that. However, I was wondering if we will ever be able to get the recovery's I remember from the Galaxy Nexus, and the EVO?
...or is the Galaxy S5 doomed to never be able to unlock the bootloader? I'll stick with the phone, it's a beast....I'll just be sad if we'd never be able to flash all kinds of custom ROMS.

We can flash custom roms.

Custom roms are making their way to the s5 and the s5 active. For recovery you want to go with safestrap. As far as the bootloader goes it's up to a highly skilled individual to get this to us cause I doubt AT&T or Verizon is gonna get off their duff and do us justice.
All that aside I really enjoy the phone. right now I'm on stock awaiting the next release of koolkit rom for the s5 active. There is however a bounty for the unlocking of our bootloaders for both AT&T and Verizon. I do believe it is around $8,000 for AT&T and $9,000 for Verizon(not exact numbers just estimates). Hopefully we will see it happen till then enjoy your phone.

AOSP Roms? NO is not going to happen. We only have 'Safestrap' and the only thing we can flash are TW Roms since we can not touch the Kernel due to the locked bootloader.
Honestly I'm almost 100% sure the bootloader is not going the get unlocked ever. So if you like AOSP you will need to swap your AT&T S5 for an international version or TMO version.

Ok. Good to know. One question, is it possible to mod the stock kernel for uv/oc or does the encryption process hinder this?

[Q] My exhibit 4g is not acting up correctly

Hello guys,
This phone is giving me headaches. Once I rooted the phone is not allowing me to to flash CWM and nothing at all but continue stock. Im looking like a paranoid for the Pit file and the flash rom for me to go stock 100% but there is nothing in the forum to well organized I guess that I have missed looking for it or getting lucky to find it.
Im on 2.3.3 right now and the more I do factory reset the more the superuser stays installed. Pleas advise how to successfully flash my phone from scratch for me to install one of the custom ported roms we have in the forum.
I came from Samsung Vibrant with an experience of more then 1000 flashes. I think the bad thing about this phone is that we have to navigate over 7 different forums to get the info correctly and is very confusing.
Guys I also dont have Network Signal meaning I cant use the phone.
Thanks guys very much for any help

No forums, but there are threads. Just Google xda t759 stock and read around. I know that a stock Odin flash able package is available, but I don't remember where. Also post in their forums because although our phones are very similar I don't know the exact steps/files for your phone.

Now that I am rooted what sorts of things can I do? I have had an iPhone for 5 years and jailbreaking was really simple. I want to get a better understanding how flashing roms and where I should start off at as to getting so more cool stuff on my phone.

Well you can't flash anything cause your bootloader is locked. You can do some pretty cool stuff still with xposed framework and the wanam module. Theres a thread about it in the ATT themes and app section. You can do a lot more with root, xposed and wanam than you could ever dream of with a apple device.

Just be very careful not to get into an unrecoverable boot loop. There is no way to get back to mj5 right now.

Kingoroot alway says root failed for me after I got the update and lost root. Is there any trick or anything I'm doing wrong to get it to work?
Kingo root. Its literally the easiest thing ever. This is my first android device and I haven't seen a single problem with it or the Roms I've flashed.
I'm having issues with Kingo root -- can someone explain what MJ5 stands for?
When I use kingo I simply get scriptError

To getting so more stuff is now available via OTA and gained around 27MB in size to download. If your device was rooted with ‘root de la vega’ then you must see to it first on how to kepp your device rooted for you are about to end your root privileged once you took this update.

[Q] I bought an AT&T Moto X, trying to flash it to Telcel's ROM and got stuck.

I recently bought an AT&T Moto X, 32GB (XT1058 me thinks). But I don't like AT&T's stock ROM due to the bloatware.
I'm trying this tutorial, but I'm getting stuck at this part

For some weird reason I can't flash the phone with the Movistar's ROM, but the flashing is working with the AT&T ROM.
EDIT: It won't let me flash it with Telcel's ROM either. Is there a way to get around this or should I just install AT&T's ROM (Which I hate)?

It's NOT recommended to flash other carrier official firmware. Custom ROM's are a different story.
If you want to try anyway, at the risk of bricking your device, you could try the Rogers official ROM IF AT&T is also XT1058. I can confirm the Rogers firmware has ZERO bloatware. Source: I own Rogers unlocked Moto X and run stock ROM.
Mine is a XT1058 AFAIK, but then again, just to confirm, where can I double check?
EDIT: Nevermind. It didn't let me. Only AT&T's version seems to be working.
Is there a way to uninstall the bloatware without unlocking the device? Perhaps by rooting?
Ah too bad.
For future reference, model# is on the back

Did AT&T do something to these phones so they wouldn't work with other stock ROM's?

You can't root if you are on 4.4.2 already, unless you have an unlocked bootloader. Which you can't do on motos site. Not with an at&t retail phone.
You can look in general section for the China unlock thread, and can pay for an unlock code....if your phone is on his list.
Otherwise, you can't root.
And flashing other carriers firmware is not a great idea as said above....especially since your bootloader is locked... Limits your options for fixing issues.

Galaxy S5 Device Nickname?

Hey people, so I just ditched my galaxy s3 for an s5. I noticed a few things.
1. There are no AOSP based ROM'S for the Galaxy S5
2. There isn't a device nickname, my galaxy s3 was d2att what is this one called?
3. This phone is easy to root since June 2014 so why such low development?

Wrong section but whatevs.
1) correct.
2) the nickname is AT&T Galaxy S5
3) Such low development because there's only so much you can do with a device with a locked bootloader. Only ROMs using then stock kernel, which only Touchwiz ROMs can use. AOSP and such require a different kernel, which cannot be flashed with the locked bootloader.

Thanks, I guess I am okay with touchwiz for now. Samsung usually slow down when they update the OS. I'm thinking I will want to root when they update to 4.4.4 or L.
If you think you might want to root "ever", you may want to do it now. The latest OTA kills root and ther is no fix yet.

Downgrade flash via Odin to the stock image will allow root and safestrap recovery....
No worries getting back to a rooted device if needed....g
I highly doubt they will keep the bootloaders locked when the 1 year warranty is up.
Looks like petitions for unlocking the AT&T variant are just two votes away from actually getting noticed by AT&T.
I doubt they will budge though. The hacking bounty will get it done.

Is my bootloader locked? and is there a way to tell?

is my bootloader locked?
i just bought a Galaxy Note 3 sim unlocked at&t 4.4.2 sm-n900a
""""""(this question is the most important to me even if my initial question gets answered) is there a way to check like through a app or adb or something like that to see if the bootloader is lock or not?"""""
i already rooted it and want to know for sure before i throw on Safestrap so i don't brick my new phone.
i want to flash a rom.
Also my note 3 is asking me to update the firmware if i do will that lock it or unlock the bootloader if it is or isn't?
The bootloader on the att note 3 is definitely locked and cannot be unlocked which also means you must use safestrap. Twrp is not an option with a locked bootloader.
