I use Plantronics Bluetooth ear piece, works great, also there is a free app that allows for ALL audio from the SGT to be forced out the BT.
agreed very much possible. BT headset im using is Hisense HB200S connected to 2 of my phones at the same time.
Not really what I was thinking of. I'm saying use the tablet as a bluetooth headset. So when i jump in the car phone calls are automatically routed from my phone into the tablet which is hooked up to the audio system of my car.
so it would essentially function as a really nice car stereo but have all the added functionality of a android tablet.
data through bluetooth would be super awesome, but this is kinda shooting for the stars.
Did you find any solution?

I'd love to see this too. Basically have sms and calling features on my tab, going through my phone via bluetooth.
anybody found a solution?
i have a carpc an since androidX86 (4.0.3) is out it would be great to use this as bluetooth handsfree.
i agree

I 100% agree, I need this feature as well. We clearly are not the only ones. This essentially is centered around someone with development skills using the Bluetooth Headset Profile to have the tablet show up as bluetooth headset or handsfree to the phone.
With that it'd be great for it to pull contacts (if you dont sync contacts with google), receive texts, receive calls, dial, voice dial, etc. Out of all those, i really just want to be able to receive calls and have them routed to the tab. Everything else is a bonus.
Should we start a bounty?
Let's do..whatever, to make this happen! I would pay!
Pioneer navigation in my car can do it but I want to replace it with android. This is the only reason why I can't do it.
Closest thing i've been able to do for this is my phone is connected via bluetooth to my cars head unit. My tablet it mounted and connected to the head unit with 1/8" - 1/8" This way i can use my tablet for music and navigation and if i get a call my system will auto switch over for the call.

thanks for that info, but in my case I won't have a headunit to act as the "middleman". we really need the option of the tablet itself being able to exploit the Bluetooth handsfree profile

Tablet Talk 1.3.3.1 was released on 4/15 with a Call Sharing option over Bluetooth or Wifi. The feature is still in beta, but from my limited usage in the past 2 days, it seems like a viable solution to this problem. The app can be found in the market with a reasonable price tag of $2.99. For those of you looking for a carputer solution - you found it.
i actually use Tablet Talk and fully support that developer for his work, BUT the call answering feature requires either the phones speaker phone to be on or a bluetooth handsfree kit or bluetooth headset in order to work. It's not the same as the subject of this thread but it is the closest we have so far.
I've been in talks with him and he's still working on the BT stack in his spare time but makes no promises that it'll work or make it into his app.
Hi,
i 'm looking for the same possibilities, but from my iphone=>Tab=>Car-audio
TabletTalk doesn't work with iphone
What would be great is a full application on the Tab with Dialing, Contact List from the phone, the same as every caraudio BT sold nowadays...
I don't understand why it 's link to the Phone OS, because a Pioneer Car Audio BT doesn't care if it s a BB, Nokia, iphone, or an android phone : it's just A2DP/Handset server mode...
I succeeded in sharing my iphone music librairie and 3G to the tab, there 's only the phone part left :/
correction, i can't acces my iphone music lib from the tablett
i can only acces to a itune on a PC, but not directly to the iphone
I don't understand why there is no Car Audio App available, the developer would be rich !
Thank you guys, I've been looking for this for my – project for some time. Can't wait to try it out this weekend.

I'm also on the hunt for the same thing, please report back if anyone finds a solution.
Same here i have been wanting to do this but with my cheap pos phone
Lg VX9200 has bluetooth and works fine with my headphones with music and calls
Android only sees it as a internet source i just want to use my tablet as a speaker phone with a big key pad
Or maybe even use google contacts and have it dial my phone

Bump to keep this thread going I'll be attempting something similar in the future
This would be amazing, but unfortunately the tablet talk app will not work because it requires your car audio to be wired through your phone which would defeat the purpose. I hope the tablet talk developers can figure something out!
Just wondering whether there is any fix for the bluetooth issue on 4.3 roms. I can connect my phone to car without any issues, but cant syn contacts or answer/reject calls via steering wheel. If not, is it possible perhaps to copy bluetooth related files over from 4.2?

Quite the same problem here. I can pair the XZ with my Car's device (ego flash), but I can't synch the phonebook.
I already deleted the Bluetooth setting on both devices, nothing helps
if somebody has a solution??

sorry for my bad english...
I'm having exactly the same problems.
And it seems as if every android update on my xperia z fixes some bluetooth bugs and brings up some new ones. After each update, my phone behaves differently in my car.
I had the exact same issue, (to give a little more detail) it causes you to either drop wifi connection when on bluetooth or vice versa and i had just bought a sony smart watch that ran off of bluetooth.I never found a fix from sony. What i did do to fix it was flash myself the latest eXistenZ rom, it worked perfectly and both my smartwatch and wifi could work at the same time
Same song different dance
My issues with 4.3 update are related to the poor performance of the bluetooth driver on audio connect.
I have downgraded to 4.2 because i use bluetooth headphones and i have 2 bluetooth speakers, that with the 4.3 are almost useless because:
Low volume output over bluetooth, quality of the audio is a bit down, and most important for a heavy sleeper, the bluetooth speakers are working only with music/video soundtracks, they are not ringing anymore on phone calls, alarms, notifications.
Please, anyone, put the 4.2 bluetooth driver somewhere, flashable or i dont know, i tried everything, but i guess the best option is to install the 4.2 bluetooth driver on 4.3. Is it possible?
Now I found an workaround for me. I deleted all the photos inside the contacts ( about 8 or 9 contacts of 331 had a photo inside). Phone-Book sync and sending contacts separately is working now. Not perfect, but OK for the moment.
Could this be a problem with Android 4.3 ? I never had that before with my Defy, Razr i, Wiko Darkmoon or Alcatel OT6040D.

kbert

I have pioneer car stereo with Bluetooth connected to my Z3 Compact but sometimes it WILL NOT auto connect. Most of the time Bluetooth connects as soon as I put car on but sometimes it doesn't!
Any advice idea's why this should happen?

I even can not connect to my Pioneer DEH-P700BT with BT Audio profile. My Z3 compact connects only as phone. While I have 3 phones working perfectly as BT audio with my car audio. My Z3 Compact also connects by BT with Sony Home Theater system w/o problems. As for car audio issue I have tried to clear all paired devices in pioneer and z3 and reconnect, car audio and z3 see each other and z3 asks for pin (pin is correct) but fail on connection and pioneer shows "Error" on display. It looks like some sw incompatibility. Though pioneer has BT SW upgrade function only one very old update (issued far before I have purchased that unit) is available so probably SW update will not help...
I have a pioneer head unit, http://www.pioneer.com.au/au/products/archive/AVH-X3500DAB/page.html
Mine seems to be working the same as any of my other android phones, if not better. I use it to play Spotify and it seems to always auto connect.
I'm happy to help test any scenarios you want for comparison.

Were pioneer thoughtful enough to include details as to what exactly the SW update addressed? just thinking maybe they pre-empted the problem your having with the update. **just a guess!**

Yes - "This update enables you to connect to Nokia Nseries with software after October 2007".
I managed to connect to my head unit with BT Audio profile, but it connects only if I manually initiate connection from both phone and unit. I.e. in unit there are 2 modes - 1. unit searches for previously paired phone 2. unit waits for connection from phone. In my case only second way works. Auto connect does not work.
Just to confirm. I am also experiencing this. Even my buggy LG g2 on g3 fw connected without issues and now the z3c does not :/ I have to always go in the deck connection and select it.
Starting this thread to see how prevalent this bug is, and if it's something fixable or just a bug that will need to be fixed in the next update. It appears to be affective at least a few other users as well (https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/5g89wa/oos_beta_8_bluetooth_issue/)
Much like in the linked thread, I have been having issues with BT connectivity with my car, such that BT audio plays but voice search feedback on android auto doesn't play. also noticed that BT subsettings are all unchecked for all paired devices (phone audio/media audio) despite that both work. Anyone else seeing other bluetooth issues on this build?
Yeah, I can no longer even pair my phone to my car (Mitsubishi). It just won't work no matter what I do.
It worked just fine before.
Tested mine tonight, device paired and everything was working well.
Had no problems using various bluetooth devices like speaker, gamepad and BMW car unit

Only issue I am having is with the mi band 2. Notoriously awkward when it comes to BT at the best of times.
Wife's Audi took two attempts my MB worked without issue.
Bose stuff working perfectly.

Got the same issue, pairing well but reading sms function doesn't work anymore even on stable version!
Having problems with vivoactive hr and the Garmin Connect app. Not getting notifications, and have to toggle Bluetooth off and on to sync.
Sometimes having trouble connecting via BT to my JBL sound bar. One time it doesn't connect at all, sometimes my phone connects, but no sound. Now testing again, all works fine. Using Deezer as I type.
Hey,
is there someone who can explane, why I don't get a ringtone at incoming call in my car (Skoda with navi Columbus), when my OP3 (using Havoc latest release) ist connected via bluetooth and / or usb?
It's so strange that I even don't get the menue item for chosing the ringtones and the ringtone-volume in the Columbus navi.
The OP3 is well connected, contacts sync works fine, voice quality is perfect and (see the next point) Android Auto is also working
It must be related to rooting or something else, because my Samsung Galaxy S4 (Resurrection Remix (7.1) latest release; rooted) shows the same effect. Also I tested a non-rooted Sony Xperia - and I could find the menue items for incoming phone calls ringing.
I just tried different kernels, because Caesium doesn't play with Android Auto (it's not possible to establish a connection to Android Auto but meanwhile connected via bluetooth). With HolyDragon, Mady and Bluespark everything seemes to be fine. But it's all the same - no ringtone menue available.
Thanks in advance!
Not much help but I've read somewhere (google product forum for Android auto???) that there is an issue with some change in respect of changes to "bluetooth" to allow a phone to send its own ringtone to the car.
Is this the change ? https://www.xda-developers.com/android-pie-bluetooth-in-band-ringtones-default/ and it's not just Pie?
ok, thanks, this could be the answer
I read the article, but I didn't understand what to do exactly
I'm no developer, only a simple "user"
In AA settings try "Turn Bluetooth on when AA is running"
That's standard of course.
I do have a BT connection, this is not my problem
