Hello Andrea72,
What has happened if that you have torn though the flex cable going to the buttons contact pads this can only be fixed by replacing them. To do this you'll need to strip down the phone and remove the old and replace with a new one these can be found on such site like ebay, all sounds great, however to remove this part is more difficult has it's stuck down with some pretty impressive glue. I'm in the some situation as your self good luck.

Just a quick update i have finally received my part form china and going to attempt to replace it at the weekend, I'll try and document this and post if I am successful.
Did you manage to replace that part? My microphone is broken, so I want to replace the same part as you guys. Did you use a guide? If yes, can you post a link?

[Repair Guide][New Method] How to replace dying sim/microsd/volume/power buttons

Hello, Today I will show you how to replace a problematic sim/microsd/volume/power. The reason why they can be fixed together is because they are all on the same PCB that we will be replacing.
I made this guide because I went snowboarding and I dropped my phone in the snow. I tried the rice trick but after that my power button was still dying. I looked up prices for getting a professional to replace it and it was around $60 for a part that costs $10 MAX. So i just bought the part off of ebay and documented my process
EDIT: if the pictures don't show up, just right click and open in new tab for now
EDIT: There is now no need to remove the motherboard to solve this issue

New "easy" method
6) You DO NOT need to remove all the connectors, only the ones in red
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5cgxcq2ocm7fkwi/IMG_20140414_151844 - Copy.jpg
Take note that the electronic above the sim card slot just needs to be peeled off gently, It is NOT a connector but it does rest on top of the PCB.
Also, you'll need to pry off the vibration motor (the circle to the right of the Sim card slot) as it is glued in
7) This is what the PCB looks like when separated from the motherboard
Note: your motherboard will still be in your phone, i just wanted to shop you what both parts look like

If The PCB you ordered did not come with the shielding then follow these steps
Note: Your motherboard should still be in your phone
8.a) Remove the shielding from the back of the original PCB, be careful of the glue to not damage any components

Time to backtrack and see what is not seated properly
14) After all that is done and is properly fitted, Put in your sim car, micro sd, and battery
(Do NOT put in the screws yet)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/it26v6h7763flzs/IMG_20140414_154143.jpg
15) Now power on and see if it works
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fumzxsuewnqqgn4/IMG_20140414_154158.jpg
(Mine did, I was so happy I could cry!)
16) After it power on, test all your buttons
17)Test Cases:
Press power button once to see if the screen turns off
Press the power button to see if the Screen wakes up
Press the volume up to see if the volume increases
Press the volume down to see if the volume decreases
Check your sim connectivity, should have bars
Check your micro sd card by going to Setting>Storage>SD Card
Check your cameras
check your sound
If something does not work, backtrack and check all of your connections.
If your power or volume buttons don't work, check the PCB connection. If it still doesn't work, you might have received a defective PCB like I did (My volume buttons didn't work). Contact your seller and ask for a replacement for your defective item (I got mine for free and now everything works).
18) If everything works, NOW screw in your remaining screws and close her up and enjoy your day!

No do not yank it, the wires are sensitive, I used a soldering iron and heated the contacts up enough to the point where the wires were able to be pulled out. Then I soldered it to my new one. (Remember which wire goes to which contact)

Its honestly really easy and a good skill to learn, but there are PCBs with the motor already attached on eBay if you ever need it.

Awesome walkthrough.
I might use it one of these days as my power button is pretty much gone.
Thank you. I'm having weird SIM card reading issues. Flash the same ROM twice, and once it will detect the SIM, the other time it won't.

That doesn't mean anything is broken.
Try flashing a stock ROM and if it works then your sim tray is still working

So if I flash SlimKat 8.9 which I know the SIM card would read on before, and now it doesn't that doesn't mean it's a hardware thing?
Also, no custom ROM will now read the SIM. I've tried probably 5 since it started not reading. I'll try the stock ROM before I tear into it, I guess, but it seemed logical to me. IDK.
Radio is extremely crappy on this device. Custom roms don't implement all stock radio features so there can be (even randomly) broken things.
Hmm. Well, I tried to go back to stock. It just won't. Even got to a point where the LG update tool would flash in and out of being connected to the phone, and it would never settle on one or the other, so it can't do anything. Flash tool also reports no connection to the phone no matter what I do. I'm just about sick of this thing.

Probably a silly question but have you tried a different SIM card in the reader to see if it could be the SIM card itself that is a problem?

I agree that soldering is indeed a useful skill but I am not sure that a relatively expensive (and I am sure in everyone's eyes, precious) phone is the best place to start practicing; heat damage from a soldering iron can do irreversible damage to sensitive components as well as the copper tracks on the PCB.
Also, I may be a good idea to edit the guide a little to mention the possibility of needing to desolder/solder if the appropriate parts require it?
Yes, tried multiple SIM cards. None work on a custom ROM now. My first flash with SlimKat 8.9, was golden in every way but the camera. Then nothing but trouble with everything else. Even the "stable" CM 10 wasn't stable for me. I just managed to get a pure LG 20d ROM installed, and everything works fine. Battery life is even great. I started flashing custom ROMs to get a better device, but now with a rooted, Xposed, and stable stock ROM, I kind of wonder if it's worth bothering. It would be nice to have KK, but I don't really miss it TBH. I still have root, I still have "most" of what I liked about KK, and there are no more bugs.
Same with my original Nexus 7. Both had been flashed to KK of one sort or another (MANY times before I gave up), and both developed issues from it no matter how I did it. Went back to stock JB on both devices, and everything is fine.
If I flash any more custom ROMs I'm def going to keep a solid JB backup ready to get a stable device back if need be, and so far need be indeed.
Hello,
My LG Phone on KK stopped reading my SIMs a month or so back. I tried different SIMS, but still wont work. I flashed KK again and then later Lollipop AOSP, but still wont work. I thought maybe the SIM Reader was faulty, so ordered a new one. But even after changing, same problem. Don't know what the issue is. Can anyone suggest any further solutions / ideas ? Thanks.

Does not seem to hard to do from the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAtMGlRx_Po
If you don't feel confident about doing it your local repair electronic shop should be able to that, but if you take your time and with some patience it should be fairly easy to do and inexpensive.
GL !
I replaced the slot in my mums X98 Tablet on the weekend, this part was compatible:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/291347212625?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Wasn't that hard, just cut the old socket off the board so it's flush with the pcb and use some solder wick to remove the solder from the pins (gently, I had a small part of the track lift off and glued it back down with some epoxy)

Cannot switch to rear camera, Help.

Switch from front to rear camera camera doesnt work, i even tried to replace camera module and it doesnt helped. when i try to Third-party camera it says cannot connect to camera so i think problem is not in Cam module but maybe in motherboard. Does anyone got same experience or know how to fix it ? I even cannot turn on flashlight... Recently i installed Treble rom so that maybe fu*ked up my phone idk.

Is it the case that your phone was dropped off and then this issue started. If this is the case then you need to repair the camera from Huawei authorised shop.
I really don't know how Huawei built this phone but did you change the flex cable if it's separated from the module?
Maybe the issue can be the flex cable connector on the Mainboard.
If you're a bit skillfully handed than you can try to heat the Logicboard with a hot-air gun. But don't too hot, max. 200°C and only for a short time, and also only at the connector area. This helps to resolder cold solding joint. No warranty with this. Don't hold the hot-air gun on microchips or other parts made of plastic.

You cannot separate flex from module. Yeah maybe it is motherboard connector problem, but it stopped working after i accidentaly touched cam when phone was disassembled, i didnt unpluged connector when it broke. But thanks for suggestion.

Where did you touched the cam exactly? Did you disconnect the battery? Why did you open the phone?

Touched main Colour Cam, battery was disconnected. I opened it because i needed to install board software through testpins because i bricked it when i tried to install stock EMUI rom through HWOTA
But i think it doesnt work because i edited Vendor to install Huawei cam on AOSP rom
I don't believe that this is an issue with the module if you just touched it ... Theoretically you can knock it off with your bodies static charge but this would be the first case I've ever heard as an electrician.
I think you broke the cable or the connector. My heat solution can help but it can also destroy your phone. Without circuit diagrams and testing methods it's really to figure it out. It's too small and not made for quick and easy repair.
Maybe a professional can help you if you know one.
Maybe there's a fuse on the logic board for the camera which cut the circuit because of static charge or maybe you shorted something with fat or water of your fingers...there are so many factors.

note 5 hardware question.

Hello, my note 5 screen broke. Can I take the motherboard out and stick it in another note 5 to recover my files? Also the usb port is broken too, Going to use wifi if I can swap the boards. Thanks for any info on this.

It is hard, but possible. But perhaps you can try to copy the files and migrate to a new Samsung device instead with Samsung's Smartswitch app. If your screen is totally broken to the point you can't operate the phone, use Sidesync app on both your PC and phone, then control it from there to use the Smartswitch app.
Yes. This is 100% possible and relatively easy.
Step 1: Use a heat gun to soften the adhesive behind back glass (hairdryer on HIGH works as well). Then SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY use a razor blade to separate the back glass from device.
Step 2: Remove all 19 screws from the back of the device.
Step 3: While gripping the frame of the phone, gently apply pressure to the bottom of the battery below the wireless charging pad. This will allow the motherboard and screen assembly to separate from the frame.
Step 4: Separate the motherboard from the charge port flex cable. (Start at the top of the motherboard and work your way down.)
Step 5: Repeat process in reverse for assembly into host device.
Please note:
If you want cellular capabilities to function properly, you will need the EXACT SAME model number Note 5. The cellular antennas are connected to the charge port. Each carrier Note 5 has a different has a different set of antenna. (i.e. You cannot put an AT&T board into a Verizon device and then attempt to access the AT&T network. The antenna accept different bands of signal.)
I am a former Cell Phone Repair Technician with an extensive amount of experience. If you have any other questions, message me.
Thanks for all the info and replies.
Knowing that this will work, I'm going to search for another note5 on ebay that is beat up. I'll place my motherboard into it and try and get the files off.
Watched some youtube videos and while it looks fairly difficult I think i can do it. Will post results.
