When I receive a notification of SMS/email, a picture of the contact appears behind the card, which is a nice feature. However, these pictures are always horribly blurred, whereas they appear clear on my phone. Is this a common behaviour or is it just my set-up? I do recall previously having issues on android with contact pics being blurred due to the way they synced between android phone/facebook/google so I am wondering if this is related.
Thanks
This is because it uses the picture that is in the notification. This picture is low resolution on the phone, hence it is low resolution on the watch.

Thanks - but the pictures are not low resolution on the phone as they look fine when there is a call etc and that is on a 1080p display. I think it is maybe because the watch is pulling the picture from the gmail contact (i.e. on google's cloud as opposed to my phone) which is why it is happening?
It's pulling the photo from the notification. Not the contact information.

Ah OK - so there is no fix then - that's just the way it is?

When I took some photos on my OB, I noticed that the quality of the pictures in my OB were far more worst than when watched on my laptop.
Tell me your experience, has that happened to you ?

Can you give us an example of your taken photos?
And what would that help !? When the picture was watched from my stock gallery.....zooming made it very blurry but when i watched the very same picture on my laptop, the quality was flawless.
I hope u get it now

The stock gallery is shi*. Try out another gallery app like QuickPic, you'll see the difference man.

Because I don't have that problem. My OB stock gallery was fine...
yup that is a common problem with most android phones, not just ours.
HTC modded their gallery app to overcome this problem.
That's not a problem first of all because this way the images load a lot faster and don't lag because of the 3d effect. The gallery doesn't make them blury just resizes them, who would need it at 5 mpx?also you could always try another gallery app.

very wrong point of view. looking to blurry pictures is sucks. i hardly see small details like faces. we spent hundreds of dollars to this machines. i want best music quality, best picture quality, best gps quality, best call quality, etc. if possible.
btw, quickpic is great. thanks for advice.

Don't believe your camera result by viewing via your phone screen. 5MP jpeg sized into your 800x480 4" screen, of course it will look nice.
professional studio photographer usually using macbook (which is using IPS panel), to direct preview photos instead of their SLR's built in LCD.

He also said viewing at pc better than viewing OB.
I think you will find NO mac book even the pro series has IPS display.
No profesional will use them in studio if choice is given, they are mainly on location solution.
Saying that the p970 screen gives good colour acuracy compared to my CALIBRATED IPS screen. This was the main reason for me buying it as I can't stand the i-junk.
And coming to the point.
Yes the gallery doesn't show properly the pics, but shows them reasonably and provided you do not zoom does the job. My main gripe with yhe galery though is the structure and controls. Too slow and controls are just dumb.
If 100% zoom is required there are plenty of programs in the market that will do it nicely.
QuickPic is indeed fast ,options are easy to sortout. I like functionality instead off visual candy

Hi everyone,
I have an xperia SP (5302) bought in hongkong, and using it in France with Orange operator.
I'm facing an issue with MMS pictures (before in FW.257 and also now flashed in FW.284)
When I receive an MMS with a photo, the little picture preview inside the MMS thread is fine.
But when I click on it to see it full screen, or when I save it to my albums, the quality is extremely low.
The picture saved weight is only 2,5ko
Basically it seems that the little preview is simply stretched to fit the screen size, and the full size picture is not really downloaded.
Bottom line, the picture is terrible and I trash every message..
Has anyone seen the same problem ?
Is there any patch around from that, a quick search on google, xda, and sony didn't give me anything, for xperia SP at least.
thanks for your feedback and glad to see the XDA community so much alive after all these years.
Not come across this myself as I don't really send our receive mms.
Could it be the quality of the picture sent is not very good and then it is made smaller to fit in side MMS?
You could try sending yourself a MMS with a PIC set to HQ and see if this is the same.

Yes that's what I did.
I tried sending from different phones, different pictures size, different sources, and the result is always the same : BAD
Sorry I don't have any other ideas....

Has anybody else noticed that you can zoom only up to a certain extent i pics, I guess only to 100% of thr pic size. Sometimes the photos are very hard to view so I need more zoom. I searched a lot and the only thing I found out is changing accessibility settings and tripple tapping to zoom. This isn't a real solution to the problem, as it's very ugly and not practical. Does anyone know any mod to enable more zooming?

Thats a good question! i was never impressed with the camera on the HTC One and let alone the zoom. I had to pull the photos off and use Adobe Photoshop to zoom to the level i needed for detail. Doubt this is what you want to do but, if worse comes to worse.
FYI - HTC work on a better camera on these phones
The way HTC handles zooming in the gallery is by it's resolution. In order to zoom in to a photo more is by using a 3rd party gallery

It's not only in gallerg, it's also in FB and other apps. Any way to change it?

Doesn't anyone understand there is no zoom? The so called zoom is the same as cropping, which is limited by the resolution. Lower megapixels = lower level of cropping before pixelation

I'm pretty sure he's referring to zooming to photos he has saved on his phone or photos he is viewing on Facebook. I realize these phones don't have zoom and only digital zoom which is essentially the same as cropping. What he is trying to do is trying to bypass the limitations that HTC implementated to the zooming level on the photos he is viewing

Did you ever read my question? I was pretty clear I am talking abour SAVED photos, not camera app. I have had many phones, but this is the first that limits the zooming so much, it's absurd. My old Sensation can zoom up to 300%. I think HTC had done this because of the ****ty resolution of the camera

This limitation was set even before this phone with its ultrapixel camera. I believe it was implemented starting on the HTC one X series including the evo lte but I could be wrong. You can try aosp the zoom limitation isn't there

Am i totally missing the option in the Samsung camera app for raw settings? Or is it gone? I use that a lot at work to tweak sharpness and structure.
Suck to not have the option of super big pictures without the use of third party camera app. I use my double click to launch camera all day.
I'm not at work to really check if I need to tweak...but I assume so, since same camera as my s7e

I believe you've missed it.
In the Camera, go to the Settings then under Rear Camera, click Picture Size.
The very last option has the checkbox for Saving Raw files.

Just noticed when I try to use effects like Vignette, stardust etc in the gallery app that there is no adjustment bar for the effects intensity. I'm sure in previous models they were present.
Just wondering , did I overlook something?
