I have the Gummy 4.4.4 PA ROM and can't figure out how to get VZW visual voicemail to work, did some searching and saw some possible build prop changes that could possibly fix the issue, has anyone had any success getting thus to work on the VS989 G2 rooted with a custom ROM.
Thanks in advance

May not be what you're looking for, but have you tried Google voice? It has the ability to transcribe to Sms and replay voice mail (among other things). I've never used Verizon visual voice mail; is there a feature other than voice mail transcription?

I wrote this on the moto forum also. I have a moto droid og and I would like to use a different ROM but I can because it is a work phone. I need email,Exchange to work. My question is there a way to take the email app from the nexus 4.2 update and use it on a ROM on the moto droid. The email app did not work on 4.1 and under so Google has fixed that issue and that's why it does not work on the ROMS I have tried.
Any ideas guys be cause I am out of them. Thanks for any help in advance

This has been stated to the point of over kill. Read the threads and you will have your answer. And NO it doesn't work on ANY Jelly Bean ROMs and most likely NEVER will.

Just download one from the play store if the rom doesnt have it. Cant wait til google adds g voice To the new hangout app find it much more useful
Than talk.
I was gonna say Google Voice + Groove IP is your best bet.
Yes the Google Voice app will be merging into the Google Hangouts app sometime soon. Maybe even Wifi calling too?
As of now. Your best bet is G-Voice and either Groove IP or TalkaTone for VOIP calls.... $20 to port your T-Mobile number to G-Voice or get a new number for free if you don't care.
G-Voice app can set the default number to be your G-Voice number too.
Good luck! The T-Mobile Wifi app sucks IMO. As it uses your calling minutes. What a waste. The idea is good but execution is terrible.
In these days you can use Facebook Messenger, Skype & Google Hangouts to make VOIP calls if your Friends and Family use to those apps too. Slowly becoming the norm. The days of dialing a 10 digit number to reach someone is slowly going away.
Plus many people usually send text messages with SMS, Facebook Messenger, E-mail & Hangouts (Google Talk merged with this) too.
Hope you find a good Wifi calling solution that works well for you.
Fongo work on AOIP Team Insomnia [Linaro 4.7] ROM.
I don't test with others customs roms.
Nettalk work to on AOIP Team Insomnia [Linaro 4.7] ROM.
Just updated my AT&T Moto X to 4.4 last night and I was wondering if anyone knew how we could get the business search on our dialer like the N5/N4?
It would be great if a developer could take the phone app that includes the local search and make a flashable zip or something.

I second this! I was hoping it would have been in my 4.4 update
This works on the Aosp builds on the One, maybe worth a shot. Make a backup if you do

Hello,
I just switched from a Nexus 4 to the Moto X (on T-Mobile, running stock). I noticed that my dialer in the Moto X is missing the Google Now functionality (it's not searching local businesses, etc)
Is this happening to anybody else? Is there a setting that I'm missing that turned the feature off?
I found a support entry from Google (Use caller ID by Google) but the option listed (Menu > Settings > Caller ID by Google) is not available on my phone.
I'm going to go home and check on my Nexus 4.
Never mind, I figured it out. Please delete me
Thanks!
Just what did you figure out?

Probably that it's a feature only available on Nexus devices.
Yeah, That's what I came up with... which is why I asked.
Ya I read in an article it didn't make the cut, but all you have to do is install it, it's posted the forums

Has anyone figured out how to get this working with the stock launcher? I'd really like to use the Google Dialer but I don't want to have to use Nova.
Use one of shortcut creating apps in the store. See thebdialer tread in Apps forum.

Hey all-
With the while exchange email issue with kitkat how is everybody accessing their mail? I am using the lite version of touchdown for my email but I do not love it, is there a better app out there? Or better yet is there a non-rooted work around to use the default mail app?

I'm using cloudmagic. It's OK, but I prefer the stock app. I don't know of anyway to fix the issues with the stock app.
Have you looked at Aqua Mail?
delete
I have used EE (Enhanced Email) for a while. It allows you to skip the exchange enforcement rules, and is based off stock android client.
I will try out EE I gave aquamail a test drive and did not love it

What Exchange issue are you talking about? There is some issue with pushing but if to change in setting to poll every 5, 10, 15 or whatever minutes instead of push it works OK. Definitely is not necessary to use 3rd party email app for this.

How does this work if the Moto X has Email.apk and Exchange.apk instead of EmailGoogle.apk and Exchange2Google.apk?
I was following another thread but it hasn't been updated with a non-flashable set of files (I don't have a custom recovery).

I just used root explorer to copy them over and set permissions.

I just deleted the stock moto email and odex files and copied the ones over from the nexus 5. I did however fail to mention that I have a developer edition device. Sorry if that confused anyone.

your talking to users who are likely NOT rooted (such as myself). This method doesn't work unless you're rooted. The manifests don't line up between the two installs, which prevents EmailGoogle.apk from installing on the X (without root).
The only way around this issue is to use a third party app or keep an eye on your account settings and if something is stuck (syncing now), uncheck sync and re-check.
I just stay on 4.2.2 until they release 4.4.2. It's not worth the effort.
Try MailWise (beta) from the Play Store. It's replaced the default email app to access email from Exchange servers. Pretty impressive app for stability, features, and developer responsiveness.
