I have the Xperia Z unlocked bootloader, have used both CM Roms and Custom stock roms on 4.3
Lately I was using a 4.4 custom stock ROM, I wanted to change to a CM rom again, so I backed up everything, did a nandroid backup, and cleaned everything from my phone.
I installed ParanoidAndroid, worked well.
Then I cleaned again and installed DirtyUnicorns ROM, worked well as well.
Then cleaned and installed PAC ROM, it also worked well, however at one point my phone froze (randomly), and I had to force-reset (Volume-UP + Power- one vibration)
And now my phone doesn't boot, SOMETIMES i see a red LED
I cannot go into fastboot mode, no blue LED
I cannot go into flash mode, no green LED (i think)
Flashtool says device connected though, without USB debugging
If I connect the charger, I get the red led + 3 vibrations, sometimes it keeps going on in a loop
Battery was at 97 percent when phone froze
Is there any way to get it working? At least so I can access recovery
Some help please!
The phone is connected as USB input device :/
I regularly use fastboot, and also have flashed ftf using flashtool in the past, so I'm sure I have the correct drivers.
So you're tried flash mode or you just noticed that the led doesn't light up?

It doesn't go in flash mode or fastboot mode, just normal connection without adb

Before posting that I'm idiot and I should have searched for the solution myself I want to say that there was no actual solution to my problem!
A month ago I decided to install CyanogenMod 10.2 because of more camera options so I backed up my TA partition, then unlocked my bootloader and installed CyanogenMod 10.2 that was perfect for me, but as official 4.3 is going to be released I decided to migrate to stock android and ran into a problem, I downloaded many FTF's for my C6602, downloaded new flashtool also all drivers are perfectly installed but when it came to loading phone into flashmode it refused to do so, I'm holding Volume down button and connecting USB into the main USB port on the PC, first I see red LED then suddenly it changes to GREEN for about half a sec and then turns off, as for Fastboot mode it works perfect I even tried flashing different kernel but it did not help, I also tried and successfully installed Android 4.4 KitKat OmniRom without problems but I still can't get into the flashmode, also I was unable to use EMMA because I did not receive confirmation e-mail. Please help... Thanks in advance.
I managed to reflash to stock .67 firmware with new flashtool but the led was not green during the installation it was off but it still got flashed, now when I reflashed my phone, I rooted it and restored my TA partition , so now I want repair it with SEUS but the problem still exists phone wont go into flashmode !!!!
Once green led goes of and screen is black, you ARE in flashmode
Make sure flashtool prepares files BEFORE pressing volume down and plugging usb cord in.
There is no persistent led or visible screen in flashmode.

Yea you were correct for some reason when I started updating phone with SEUS it just restarted and started update, so it seems that it really was in flash mode, but what's wrong with the led? It was always on once in flashmode ...
Forget SUES. Just flash a stock FTF for your region. Sony won't know the difference. There's plenty out there. Which one do you want?
Edit; In flashmode, Led stays on until flashing starts then it turns off while system is being flashed.. In the case of PC companion or SUS, it will take considerably longer while files are downloaded, but with flashtool, the files are already in place, so it goes off almost instantaneously

Thanks again, no I just wanted to get BE back Thanks to guy who invented TA partition backup : )
+1
That's a brilliant tool.
Just be sure to be on stock, rooted, with USB debugging on, and superuser accepting adb shell command while restoring:thumbup:

Just wanted to say I was a bit worried my xz was not in flashmode the first time I flashed un-branded firmware as the led did not stay lit..
When I used to flash my old Arc S the light would remain on until flashing finished...
Thanx for confirming this !!
Different Problem with Flashmode
Can someone please help me, When I unlocked my bootloader (Xperia Z) I didn't use flashtools. I used SE Bootloader Unlocking, this software worked well for my Tipo and S. What happened is that my bootloader got unlocked but my flashmode got corrupted. Fastboot works fine. But when I try to get into Flashmode, the green LED blinks for like a second and nothing happens. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Please Please help me? I can't update my Baseband to go to 4.3.
I wouldn't mind relocking my bootloader to go back to stock, but I need flashmode to this as well!
That's how it works on The Z. Nothing to worry about
Just let flashtool prepare the files , then plug in to pc holding volume down

Hello Friends, I have made a mistake.
I have rooted and flashed my droid 2 and droid 4 phones perhaps 100 times but when it came to my XZ it was not as happy sailing.
I started in a tutorial from unlocker on the method of rooting and installing recovery in a XZ without unlocking the bootloader.
theunlockr.com/2013/07/23/how-to-root-the-sony-xperia-z-without-unlocking-the-bootloader-video/
but because I could not find my firmware specified with doomLord I chose kingo for my root, rebooted and everything was happy. I followed the rest of the tutorial to a 't' from the DRM keys to the recovery. Rebooted and everything was good.
This is where I should of spent time unlocking my bootloader
I downloaded pacrom and installed it through TWRP after clearing cash, system, and dalvik I think.
I also installed Gapps
When I tried to reboot it was all I could get was a flashing red light where the text indicator would normally be. My screen does not alter, if I hold down power it will vibrate every 4seconds, if I hold power up and power it will vibrate three times but nothing happens after.
I am able to get into fastboot mode, and the mode that works with emma(i am drawing a blank right now) using the volume rocker and plugging the usb in while holding them. Both apps (emma, and flashtool) recognize there modes.
Simply plugging the phone in will cause it to be seen by the computer but it will just connect and disconnect every minute or so.
In flashboot if I try to Hotboot it will give me a message about the command not being aloud remote.
I feel like if I can get all this to recognize there should be a way to get it back. Does anyone have an idea as to a way to unlock the bootloader or return it to stock using the limited function I have?
Get a stock rom from the general section and use Flashtool (not emma) to flash it to your phone. That is the solution to 90% of the problems people come here to ask about.

Hi guys,
Probably game over for me but just thought I'd ask. Got C5303 with locked bootloader but had rooted, installed the recovery and flashed cm11 on. So tried to update, cleaned device from recovery but ended in a cyanogenmod bootloop. Tried again but crashed in recovery, not sure if it's possible but seems like I have deleted the recovery and there's no rom installed at the moment. Any way of getting it working again?
Can you get in fastboot modus?
If yes flash a kernel with recovery. Boot into recovery, factory reset, and flash new rom.

Finally flashed a generic 4.3 after trying for the third time after installing all the drivers. Thanks for getting me to persevere. Much smoother than I remember the branded firmware it came with at the moment, might stick with it now.
hello. I was using an xperia zr with a ported slim rom which was working just fine except for an earphone problem related to roms above jeallybean 4.3. So in order to give the phone to a friend to use i tried to revert back to stock rom using flashtool which i have done a lot of times. There was no error. i booted into jellybean stock rom and the factory startup service message kept popping up so i went with the use the phone option. The phone was working fine for about an hour then while i was updating apps from google play it just switched off.when i rebooted it the phone would boot up till the sony logo and then power off. The phone gets detected in androxyde flashtool and i tried to flash other stock roms but i am facing the same issue of booting up to the logo and then switching off.
Anyone ever faced similar problems ? ANY IDEAS OR SOLUTIONS ?
Did you tick wipe data and cache in flashtool before flashing the rom?

Use different rom(Kitkat/lollipop)
take the battery out from phone and connect the micro usb to the phone.(do not plug the usb cable to computer now)
start the flashing process .
when it says to connect the phone by holding volume down button
insert the battery and plug the usb to computer by pressing vol down button.
I was using CM12 for quite a long time. Then I received an OTA update to CM13. After using it for a few days the device suddenly crashed and wouldn't switch on since then. Whenever I try to switch it on, it vibrates three times. If I connect a charger, it vibrates three times. If I connect to my PC, it vibrates three times.
Sometimes suddenly it boots up and then again crashes in the middle, and vibrates three times.
Is it some kind of hardware problem? :crying:
Try flashing fresh ROM in fastboot. And flash new gapps too.

Any other way to flash a rom, when the device doesn't boot or go into fastboot/flash mode?

Hey there! I think it's some infection from the CM ROM. The same happened to me.
The best you can do is submit your phone to the centre, that is if it goes into flashing.
I think it's some ram problem or CM's internal boot file corruption, after the latest OTA.
Search for bricked xperia phones on google and XDA, you may get something helpful.
