How can I hide the notification cards so that they only appear when I swipe up to see them? When I look at my watch, it turns on, but with the cards present, it blocks half the screen, so I can't see the full watch face. Any ideas?

There might be an app for that, but stock I do not believe so. Once you swipe away a card, its gone...well until it decided to pop up again

It's just to the left of the 4G. Looks like an N made of wires. There is no way to pull it down. I have tried to attach a screen shot.

As already said, that lets you know your NFC tag reader is turned on. Just pull down from the top of the screen, tap the gear, and scroll down to NFC to turn it off if you want to.
If you use NFC a lot. And hate the extra icon, you can disable the icon using wanam

The stock 5.0 notification screen in nice, but kind of pointless on the Moto X since the Touchless controls do a much better job.
The problem is that it now takes two touches to get to the home screen where once used to suffice. Anyone figure out a way to bypass this yet?
On Verizon, so no root unfortunately
If you swipe up on the lock screen it will go to the homescreen with one swipe.

In Lollipop, you can set your security level to "none" instead of "swipe" as long as your guest account is disabled. If guest account is enabled, the "none" option isn't available.
You still have to swipe past the notification screen every time you hit the power button....

Huh? I'm talking about how to remove the swipe requirement. Just click on the aqua colored avatar in the upper right corner in quick settings. A dialog box appears and in the lower left is the option to "remove guest" account. Once you do that, "none" appears as option, in addition to the others (swipe, PIN, pattern) as a means of unlocking the device.
But I want to have PIN lock The Smart Lock setting will turn the pin off at home, but doesn't remove the need to swipe the Notifications screen away.

Annoyance
I agree with the original poster. This is unnecessary and annoying added step (swipe) to access the homescreen from a pattern, pin, password locks.
Is there any way to just swipe up notifications like sms, whatsapp msg, email etc that show up for a while on the top. Its annoying to wait till the notification goes away by itself and I cant seem to figure out a way to simple swipe up to hide like in iPhone. Only way I could figure out was to disable it. Any other options or something that I am doing wrong ?
Try HeadsOff. No more floating messages
Umm... This is in stock Android. Introduced in 5.1, I think. Maybe earlier...
Or am I misunderstanding something?
it started working again and I can swipe it off. Worked after I reset my phone. Still wonder why they used to get stuck up there for awfully long time.

To dismiss notifications swipe them left or right. If you swipe up you are only clearing them from the screen.

Am I the only one having problems with the Nav bar when the keyboard is on? Like if I am on a screen to type and I want to back out and I swipe up for the nav bar but my keyboard comes up? So I have to hit it a couple of times.

I think it's because I moved the back button to the left maybe.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Nope that's not it I changed it back. Guess I am just going to have to get use to swiping up further down to get the nav bar to come up.

No issues here. Tmobile variant in case that matters

I think it's just me not swiping far enough towards the bottom of the phone.

I noticed this too - and it wasn't like that on my S8+
I think the time the nav bar remains after pressing the back button is too short, causing problems in apps that have buttons at the bottom like Facebook (damn gif button!), Messages, Relay Pro, etc
Wasn't like that on the S8+ because the nav bar hung there for a half second longer allowing me to back out all the way before disappearing.
I was going to make a thread about this, but you beat me to it. Rather annoying honestly

Damn I thought i was the only one. Hope they do something about it.
I'm having issues too. Especially in BlueMail where the delete email button is right where you hard press for home. The hard press always goes home... but simultaneously deletes the email I was reading. Was getting so confused when I couldn't find emails I was sure I'd read!
If the nav bar is locked open its fine as its squishes the screen up, but its tedious constatly locking and unlocking it. A feature to lock the nav bar on a per app basis would be awesome!
My Samsung Pay launch widget is gone (the one you swipe up from the bottom of your phone to make a payment). Anyone else have this problem?

Are you using an adb command to hide the nav bar? Can you still swipe up with the screen off?

No, hadn't used any adb commands. I can swipe up from my lock screen as usual, but that's never been on that screen. From the always-on display, that's a 'no', but again that widget doesn't appear on that screen.
Just two days ago I saw this and enabled the feature. As you can see, this setting is now greyed out! That's not a good sign. I've tried toggling the setting off and rebooting, but no change. I can still use Samsung Pay, but I have to open the app itself.
I've also toggled all the of these off and on, no change. In gonna turn them off, reboot, then see if I can enable them again.
Well that didn't work either! Grrrrr...does not show up!!!
That is super weird. Yeah I dunno, I had a similar issue but it was because of a gestures app hiding the navbar
I remember the Samsung pay thing at the bottom of my screen also. I think it disappeared or I disabled it. Forgot which .

You have to have Home Screen access turned on within Pay to use the swipe up fingerprint gesture

I had that same issue and I believe the fix was to add your card to favorites in the Samsung Pay App.
