Hi All,
Last time, i was using Swiftkey keyboard as primary. Yesterday, I noticed that my keyboard automatically switched to Google Keyboard.
I tried to change Swiftkey under input method and it stayed there for a moment. After that automatically switched back to Google Keyboard. Other keyboards are also having the same issue. Any solution to solve it? Thanks....
My device is XT1053, Stock 4.4.3, Faux008u kernel
Absolutely no idea why! Maybe a Tasker profile? Maybe some other app doing the automatic trigger? Don't know, all I can say that just uninstall the Google keyboard if you don't use it at all. I hate that keyboard.
If you're rooted, try enabling swiftkey.....then use titanium backup to freeze Google keyboard.
Had that issue once, and this solved it. ?

Bluetooth (Null) Keyboard
Hi my fellow XDA-Members,
i would like to tell you about my little app.
I'm happy about any feedback and open for suggestions.
Nullkeyboard/0Keyboard or empty Keyboard (what ever you want to call it) adds an extra keyboard to your device, which will not show when selecting text fields.
It is intended to be used with hardware keyboards (i.e. bluetooth keyboards), to stop the software keyboard from opening and taking away half of the screen.
Additionally it improves system performance as it frees up resources that would normaly be used by a software keyboard (layout, dictionarys etc.).
This app is handy for people who regularly use an extra keyboard with their android tablet. While they cannot uninstall the system keyboards, they can unload them from system memory by choosing Null Keyboard as current keyboard.
A widget is included to allow easy switching between Null Keyboard and others.
This is not a driver and will not make your bluetooth keyboard work and neither will it break anything. Don't complain that it doesnt make your bluetooth keyboard work, because that is not its purpose.
MARKET LINK
Downloaded and installedthis app but can't find the widget. The app is running according to the CM7 app manager.

Okay never mind problem solved! Great app!
Why didn't you call it software keyboard disabler or something like that? Thats essentially what it does

The idea came from a similar windows mobile application which was called "Null keyboard".
Still SAMSUNG KEYBOARD appears!!!
I bought this app from the market.
SAMSUNG KEYBOARD still appears once after that it disappears.
Is it possible disable this also?

I'm not sure what you mean?
What device and ROM are you using?
On-screen keyboard
I'm on GALAXY TAB 10.1 + OVERCOME ROM + DROIDBASEMENT Kernel.
First time it onscreen keyboard appears and then it disappears.
Is it possible to disable PERMANENTLY ON-SCREEN KEYBOARD?

Sorry, but i still don't understand it.
If you turn null keyboard ON, the onscreen keyboard should never show.
I have no indication that this no longer works.
See the enclosed screen shots.
It happens very FIRST TIME I start using the BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD.
And RESETS to SAMSUNG KEYPAD.
Hm, are you sure you selected Nullkeyboard as the active keyboard before?
I don't think i can prevent the system from switching keyboards, the question is rather why it is switching them.
Dark3n,
This issue happens on my Galaxy Tab. I've installed SwiftKey X ('cause, as a Brazilian, that was the only way I found to add accents to my words), but every time I turn on the BT Keyboard, the system itself switches Samsung Keypad on.
When that happens, you can long-press the writing area and set your favorite keyboard on, and you won't have to do that again till the keyb is turned off and on again.
Probably, what pathuri97 wanted was a way to block Samsung Keyboard to turn itself on.
Oh, and by the way: does your app work w/ accents or other languages?
Blocking the Samsung Keyboard from turning on is probably not possible, without removing or completely deactivating it.
I currently don't have a bluetooth keyboard, so i can't test how it reacts to different languages, sorry.
Can you recommend one ?
Mine is a great one. As I still can't post links, look for "Leather Bluetooth Keyboard Case Cover for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" P1000 New" on Google - it's the first hit.
Works great, and is a great armor for the GTab - makes it look more stylish as well
So, I picked up a moto-x.
I was pretty much happy with 4.2 other than the att contacts/ sms app but I was gonna attempt to find a workaround for that after I got the phone set up.
However, when I finally got the phone just about where I wanted AT&T forced the 4.4 update down my throat. This changed a few more things that I want to fix.
I HATE being forced to use apps I don't want to use. The beauty of the motorola to me is the black/teal (Now white -_-) interface in all the menus including texting and contacts. Now I'm stuck using that garbage from AT&T or google hangouts, neither of which I want anything to do with. I have yet to find a way to disable it without root. I was thinking I could use the app sender to send the original apps from my Electrify M, Would that work?
Since the update, Google keyboard has.... hidden... the enter key. I have to hit shift to see an enter/return key in order to start a new line of text. That is BEYOND horrible. I did some digging on line and came across a thread (which I tried to link..... ) where, what I assume are google employee, are acting if asking for a fix is the same as asking for a new feature. That kind of attitude from google is kind of lame. I do not have an option to disable the smiley key and it seems like others that previously had the option have lost it. I may also try sending swype from my electrify M if it would work. Does anyone know a way to fix that smiley issue?
So, what do you guys think? I really don't want to root my phone, but my phone is a personal thing to me, and having it set up just how I like it means a lot. So would I be better off just rooting back to 4.2/4.3?
Would it be safe to try sending the apps from my USC Electrify M? (Text, people, contacts, swype)
Anyways,
Thanks in advance for any advice, tips ETC
Same Issue
Why not just use a keyboard from the play store... And a messaging app? You don't need root to do that.
Or did I miss something?

Or use RSDlite and go back to 4.2.2?

I don't understand? The stock sms app should still be on your phone, keyboards are plentiful in the play store.
Personally I love hangouts and wish more people would quit sms since I'm still on a limited plan.

best solution I fond with NO root needed in app for SMS called Textra SMS
install > change to default text app > replace Icon with new one the green "T"
and you done
all options inside work great NO ROOT
I've had 2 note 5's now, an N920A and an N920c and this same bug has appeared on both, but I want to see if;
a) anyone else has this?
b) anyone knows of a solution?
If I open an app running in the background in landscape (weird conditions, but this the only way I replicate it), so any game, or as it just was, Pokerstars. I get a popup message, saying Keyboard Cover Attached and then it changes the theme back to default.
As someone who hates Samsung's weird blue and green theme, its annoying to have to keep changing my theme every time I open certain apps
Edit: Video https://sendvid.com/69kse11c (sorry for the sound, forgot to turn it off when recording, but couldnt be bothered resetting the theme to re-record)
Yeah, that happens to me sometimes. I use Package Disabler Pro, and I just check then uncheck the theme store options and that resolves the issue. But if you don't/haven't used the Package Disabler, then I'm not sure how to fix the issue.
I get this bug too, I think it maybe due to me using Ditto rom on it.
Which Theme Store package do I disable? I'm using Titanium backup to freeze things.

I use both, 'Theme Store' and 'Themes'. But I like to keep them enable.
I find that If I just disable "Themes" it stops it, I then just disable Theme store just to save ram but it's not needed.
Any solutions, experiencing same problem. Everytime I snapped on the keyboard cover, it reverts to the default theme. Can I select a theme then disable with Package Diabler Pro and keep the theme with the keyboard cover on?
---------- Post added at 02:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:15 PM ----------
OK, tried out the Package Disabler Pro and just diabled theme store and themes. After that, snapped the keyboard cover on and wala..... the theme stay in place....
Hey guys,
Anyone else's facebook not working? Instagram doesn't either. I'm running Marshmallow, latest Chroma on my Nexus 6.
When i open them they attempt to load, then just exit out. I wiped and re-flashed and same deal. Any idea what's going on??
Facebook app broke with the last 3 updates. Now doesn't work on my N6 and N7. Still works on wife's N5. Its the app. Not a phone problem. Wait for another update to fix it.
That's strange, I have Facebook app 57.0.0.11.136, and i works without any problems on my MRA58R based rom.
So does Instagram 7.11.1
4th fb update this morning g that does not work on any of my 3 devices. Even after an uninstall data clear and re install.

I went back to the nov 26 version and it works. Anything after down not.
Guys, FB is a poorly written app that causes lots of problems, its best to uninstall it and FB from within your browser. This has been so as long as i can remember, just my 2 cents.

The nov26th is last one that works for me. Google the apk and download that version.
Currently on Nitrogen OS.. I've been having an issue where I will hold the home button down to pull up search, tap on the search bar to bring up the keyboard, and within a few seconds the search bar clears itself and closes the keyboard. I made a screen recording to show you the issue in action. The first instance I don't type anything, just wait, and it closes itself. The second time I started typing and it happens again. So basically every time I open search I have to tap the search bar, wait for the keyboard to close, then tap the search bar again, then it works... until i need to search something else.
Here is the recording of the issue in action
I've posted this issue in multiple places and nobody knows the answer. Some people have said they've experienced this issue while on stock and with other mods installed. No idea how to figure out what exactly is causing this.
did you wipe cache and data of the google app, and reboot?
did you allow all permission of the google app and reboot?
thats what I would try
This same thing is happening on Moto Z Force (Verizon). I was running Android M when this started happening. I downgraded the Google app to the stock version and it fixed the issue.
I just updated to 7.0 and it's back. I tried downgrading the Google app, but this time it was just uninstalled.
I saw your post on stack exchange but can't reply (rep).
I, too, had Nova installed, as a reply assumed. It said to switch, so I uninstalled Nova, used the stock launcher, rebooted, cleared my cache partition, and the issue persists.
I reviewed your log and I think it has something to do with the assistant; maybe screen polling. My search bar closes after either 8 or 12 seconds (that's not a range, one or the other). I noted your screen recording was 8 seconds.
I'd really like to get this sorted, too. I'm happy to help in any way I can.
No news on this? I'm surprised it's not a bigger issue. Nothing I do helps. The problem seems independent of cash, system resource, or run time.
I sorted it, at least on my phone. I had to downgrade the Google app, downgrade Google Play services, disable both, reboot into recovery, flush my cache partition, reboot, enable play services, upgrade, enable Google, upgrade, and now the issue is gone.

Forgot to mention if you follow this procedure on the Moto Z then you will have to deal with a notification every second saying Motorola voice has stopped working. You just have to muscle through it.
Well, I was wrong.
It definitely worked for a while. Now the issue is back. I'll try to find some time to isolate the issue.

BTW, this is the stack exchange thread I meantime above: http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/163620/google-search-not-working-properly-logcat-included
You do know about a simple tool that will tell you just what is going wrong right? Its called a logcat and it is troubleshooting 101. There are tons of tuts on the site on how to pull and read one. Just stating that it is closing on your device really means nothing and is not worth the time it takes to type out a post unless you add a logcat file with it.

This.
Plus you didn't even list which gapps version you used which would also be relevant to troubleshooting.
