Hi,
I searched for the solution, but only came up with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4937350 ... I do not understand how to get the HTC ADP1 Update and how this would differ considering that I am now using Cyanogen's latest version 4.2.10. Is there a Gmail.apk that I can just apply to reinstall the gmail component? Please help... any assistance is much appreciated.
Lack of info = lack of real world solution
What EXACTLY happens?
What solutions did you try before posting?
What is your exact configuration (hardware, rom, theme, any hacks?)
When did it start (new problem or followed you from different rom)
Only sending or sending and receiving.
Can't quite help you before we know all those things but you can:
1. Manually re-sync Google apps to see if it helps
2. Clear data/cache from Gmail and/or other Google apps
3. Wipe and reinstall HTC ADP1 update and then CM's rom
Good luck
Thanks borodin1,
The problem is this: whenever I use Noteeverything or any app that has a share option, I cannot seem to send the message using my Gmail app. I believe the problem only started ever since Cyanogen changed the manner he distributes his Rom right after the C&D issue.
When I press "send", the message appears in my inbox with a small description "sending..." but is stuck in my outbox forever. I have tried manually syncing it to no effect. I can send using my "email" app frm my other accounts (hotmail), but the gmail app does not seem to work. There is some transfer of data (as seen from the 3G) for about 1 second, and then nothing.
Although I can send using my other account, I am just a bit curious what can be done to resolve the gmail app problem. As far as I know, Cyanogen's roms have pretty much worked perfectly for me without any need for wipes to be implemented. I am reluctant to wipe due to all the apps I have installed and the time consuming prospect. However, if it is the only option, then I will do it.
By the way, how would I reinstall the HTC ADP1 update? Is there a link to the update? Thanks for your time again.

SOLUTIONS (try 1) then 2) if 1) did not work for you):
1) you can go into settings, manage applications, and find gmail and gmail storage and clear data for both. if there is cache tab available clear that too. then open up your gmail and let it resync everything.
2) back up ur ext, wipe your data, wipe your dalvik-cache, wipe your ext. flash the htc image i have provided below then do not restart. immediately apply cyan's latest rom next. then reboot. set everything up first. then use a theme if u want and reboot. this should fix everything.

OK, so I have CM build #34 and Titanium Backup Pro installed on my Nexus One with all of my apps apps and settings backed up and synced to Dropbox. I also use ROM Manager Premium for handling my CM7 nighties.
I have tried different variations of wiping data and cache\installing Google Apps\restoring all apps and settings with Titanium Backup but I think I am doing something wrong as I usually end up having to enter login and password information on a lot of my apps (once I get them back on my phone).
If my plan is to update to the latest CM7 version every night, what are the proper steps to do so?
Here is what I think I should do:
1. Back up all apps and settings using Titanium Pro
2. Download latest CM7 version
3. When ROM Manager asks if I want to download Google Apps, I check YES
4. After the download is complete, ROM Manager asks if I would like to Backup Existing ROM (I leave unchecked) and Wipe Date and Cache (I only check this if I am having major issues with the CM7 nightie)
5. ROM loads, phone reboots
(Here is where I start getting really confused)
6. Google asks me to sign in. I skip the sign in
7. Join wireless
8. Restore all apps and settings from Titanium Backup
9. Google keeps on asking me to sign in with my Google account.
10 I sign in and usually have issues with Twitter, work email (Exchange), Facebook, etc. Some apps that I know I had installed and configured do not show up but when I go to the Market they show as Purchased and I have to re-download them. Later when I have Twitter and Facebook configured, if I go to Settings> Accounts and Sync, it only shows Gmail and my work email (no Facebook or Twitter). If I try adding Facebook and Twitter, it never goes to the sign in screen. I can back out and see and use Facebook and Twitter on my home screen though.
Questions:
If I am downloading only CM7 nighties, should I download and install Google Apps every night (why else would ROM Manager prompt me for it and include it with every CM7 nightie)?
When using Titanium Backup, should I still sign in to my Google account on my phone or just skip it and restore all settings, apps and data?
Can someone lay out an easy step-by-step best way to accomplish what I am attempting? I think this would help a lot of novice users who want to experience the awesome custom ROMs that are floating around.
Thank you all for your time and effort!

Then why do I have do I have to keep re-entering all types of logins after upgrading to a new CM7 nightie ?
You say not to wipe data and cache. What about the rest of my post? Any other advice?
Just flashover the top of what u got
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
You should try logging in to Google first before restoring your apps with Titanium Backup. Then reboot. Usually that will restore the list of apps that you installed in the Market.
If not, then clear your market data and cache and do a reboot again.
So I always should install Google Apps every time I get prompted by ROM Manager just before I start installing a nightie? Then just flash the new CM7 version without wiping Data and Cache?
I didn't say anything about flashing gapps again, just flash the newer nightly over your old nightly.

OK, tried what you said (not flashing gapps) and just flashed to the newest CM7 nightie. I also did not delete Data and Cache. Now the Market, Talk, Car Home, Voice (looks like all the Google apps) do not work. I'm getting pop ups stating that I need to sign in to my Google account but when I go to Settings>Accounts and Sync, There is no option for me to add my Google credentials. I see nothing except corporate email and FaceBook (no Twitter Either---and I have that installed).
That is why I was asking earlier if I should get the gapps every time I flash to a new nightly build. Every time I don't download Google Apps along with the CM7 nightie, I always loose a ton of settings and functionality along with not having access to all of my Google Apps.
Btw, I did a full restore of Titanium Backup Pro (all apps and data) after I flashed to the new CM7 nightie b/c of the problem stated earlier in this post.
Any thoughts?
I have no idea what is going wrong then.
Every few days I download the nightly, flash it without any wipes right over top of my current system, and use my phone. All settings stay working, I haven't flashed gapps for a long while now.
It is pretty much a one step process for me. It sounds like there is some sort of strange wiping going on for you though.
I had this issue when I used ROM Manager to download the ROM.
Here's what to do, just download the nightly from this link,
http://mirror1.kanged.net/nightly/passion/
Then use ROM Manager to install from zip, don't wipe or clear anything.
This will let you flash it over with no issues.
Ah, that could very well be it. I am always downloading it manually and flashing from it manually in Rom Manager.

after you flash the new nightly build on top of your current, are you restoring anything via Titanium?
When restoring system data, i found that the order in which its restored makes the difference between things working and not.
I had a similar problem a while back... after a complete wipe and fresh install of CM + Gapps i used TB to restore everything including system app data. after the restore, everything looked OK. If i was to check settings/accounts & sync, everything was there correctly. But when I tried to run a system app, I'd have nothing but problems..(G-Talk & Latitude wouldnt log in, Market was jerked, Gmail would FC...FB and twitter would keep asking for my password..etc). The way I got it to work was to wipe all system data, then in a logical order, restore it again one app at a time with a reboot between each restore.
Its alot easier to just manually enter all account info. Then use TB (if needed) to restore things like FB, Twitter, Wifi & BT settings.
Not sure if this is what you were looking for, but typing this made the bus ride home alot quicker.

Hey!!
I am currently running stock 2.3.5 JVT with CF Root. I'm planning to flash JVU today, and it will be the first time that i will be flashing a new ROM after rooting my device.
I wanted to take a backup of my all stuff so that i can restore my phone back to its usual state after flashing. Ive already done a Titanium backup, my ADW settings backup, CWM backup, efs floder backup. Is that enough??
Few more things i would love to backup are:
1. My contacts(not sure how to do it and cannot afford to lose them)
2. Contacts with facebook sync(took me a whole day to join contacts with my google and phone contacts, dont want to spend another day doing it)
How can this be done??
And while i am at it, i wanted to know that if it is easier to flash ROMs if im rooted, ie, using CWM to flash ROMs using update.zip or install kernel. Can this be done or should i install ROM manager and use it?? If yes, please tell me how.
PS: I would love to do a clean wipe or factory reset before flashing.
Thanks a lot.

I use Google Contacts to store all my contacts so whenever I flash new ROMs I just log into my Google account on that phone and it automatically imports my contacts. As for the Facebook sync, I'm not entirely sure because I always just joined the contacts back together whenever I had free time.
I've always used CWM to flash ROMs as well as restoring and backing up my stuff and it has never failed me.
I'd say your backups are sufficient, if you do happen to forget something then it's really no big deal to just redownload the app from the market and reapply your settings.
If you're just flashing to stock JVU through Odin, it should be pretty straight forward, just make sure re-partition is checked (this will wipe your apps and system data, but not your internal SD contents such as photos, Titanium backup files, etc) to avoid problems.
I always factory reset/wipe through CWM before and after a flash to avoid anything left from previous ROMs, I'd say make it a habit
One last thing, make sure you flash the correct CF-Root kernel for your new ROM (JVU version)
First time flashing a ROM on any device can be a bit scary but as long as you read the guides and follow the steps, you'll be just fine
Apart from the stuff above(very important). Backup your /efs folder once you got root permissions, some people gets a big headache because of this.
Cheers!

I have started using Google Contacts to save my contacts. However, i used to store my contacts on SIM and i havent really found a way yet to transfer all my contacts from SIM/Phone to google. Any help on this?
If i can use CWM to flash ROMs, then i would use CWM(but i do not know how to) otherwise ODIN.
This isn't the first time im flashing a ROM, this is the first time im flashing ROM after rooting. So just wanted to know if there is anything more to be done.
BTW, im currently on EXT4, should i convert to RFS before flashing??

To export to Google Contacts, I believe you just have to export all your contacts to SD card, then import from SD card (except select that you import it to Google Contacts).
Using CWM to flash ROMs is pretty easy, just install CF-Root (the kernel comes with CWM), turn off your phone, wait until it's completely turned off, then use the three-button recovery (home + power + volume up) to enter CWM recovery, and you can choose to install ROMs from there.
If you're on EXT4, do revert back to RFS before flashing another stock ROM on top or there will be problems.
Hope this addresses everything
One more thing, how do i restore these backups, keeping in mind that i will also format my SD card(obviously after copying the backups to my computer)??

I can not see any option to export my contacts to SD card!! When i tap "Import/Export", i get only three options : Import from SIM card, Export from SIM card and Send name card via. None of them can be used to save or export contacts to SD card or Google Contacts I was using my brother's Galaxy note and he has an option "Merge contacts with Google". Why is isnt it there on SGS??
When installing ROMs, i just change my PDA file and keep the CSC and MODEM same right???
For contacts backup you can either use google account or just do a normal backup using Kies...Your phone will automatically sync itself once you're connected to the internet and logged in to the google account, and retrieve all the contacts you've synced before. There's no need to find any specific option like the one in galaxy note.
The MODEM and CSC will follow the one inside the ROM that you're going to install

Well that syncing with google doesn't work for me. I dont know why. But I was able to import all my contacts from phone and sim to google, so its not a problem anymore.
The only thing I want to know is how do I restore the backups? Just goto the respective app and click restore?

For regular apps, I restore app + data.
For system apps, I just restore the data.
Both times I tried a 7.x based rom, once I re-connected my google account, only some of my accounts came back. I'm guessing that somehow the contacts that were loaded onto my phone originally were loaded as "phone only" rather than as google contacts. Is there a way to get CM7.20 to recover them? I've made a few Titanium backups and haven't wiped my SD card other than that one path that gets wiped by clockwork when you wipe before flashing. Thanks.
Mod Edit : not development Moved to Q & A .Pls post in appropriate thread
sorry, this is the wrong section for you to post this.
the best course of action is to repost in general or q/a, or ask a mod to move this thread there.
but until someone moves this thread there, were your contacts synced with your google account? because if you just flashed a rom without manually (or googally for lack of a better term) backing them up, sorry guy, they are gone
in the future, when you add contacts, the list will pop up that says sync with google account or phone only (unsynced). choose sync to google account, or find a 3rd party app on the market and back them up that way.
Yeah, they were synched with my google account, but I'm guessing that when my phone was initially loaded with contacts from my previous phone, they were loaded as "non-google" contacts so those didn't synch. If they weren't stored on the SD card, I realize that they're gone, but maybe they end up on the card. I asked a mod to move this to Q/A. Hopefully someone knows this answer. I still have my old phone (Razr), so I guess I could import the contacts from that again, but I'm sure I'll lose a lot of info that was updated and add in a lot of stuff I'd deleted. Hopefully the contacts are on my Hero's sd card somewhere in a retrievable format.

Before you flashed CM7.2, did you make a nandroid of your original setup? If you did then just nandroid back to that and make sure to resync those contacts that are phone-only to your google account. And then re-flash whichever CM7 rom you plan on using.

Yes, but I'd rather not go through all that. Can I make a new nandroid of my current setup and then go back to a previous nandroid? Hopefully there's just a way to read the backed up contact list so I can import that or something. It's not a ton of numbers, but I don't want to lose them all. Thanks.
This small tutorial is to get rid of the error android.process.acore which comes again and again on screen and bothers alot!!
For the People who are encountering this error just follow the below steps.
This error usually occurs because you might have forgot to WIPE when installing a NEW ROM. So to avoid that always wipe when the ROM provider has stated so.
There are also other causes which result this error. So try the following methods:
1. Try uninstalling Facebook if that is installed. If this does not fix your problem then try the following.
Do you have your contacts backed up?
2. Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts Sync Adapter and press Clear Data, this error usually goes away. If this doesn't work, try clearing the data on Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts or Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts Storage.
If problem is fixed, then restore contacts and reinstall Facebook and make sure you don't sync contacts with it.
3. Third and Final solution for me which I really dont like but has worked with me
Boot into Recovery than
1. WIPE DATA
2. WIPE CACHE PARTITION
3. MOUNTS & STORAGE > FORMAT SYSTEM
4.FLASH THE ROM

This reminds me that I recently noticed that "Contact Groups" were not properly sync'ed between Google Contacts and the Contacts on my phone. I went into Contacts on my phone and checked "Sync Data". Is that supposed to stay unchecked?
Of course, the Contacts app crashes before I can un-check the box, so I don't know how to fix that now.

Third step seems to have woked
I did the first 2 with not results the third seems to have worked. My samsung VZW i800 is working quite well now thank you. I have CM11.0 terrenceng... granted I still get the error "unfortunately gmail has stopped" and I'm working on that issue. In the meantime I'm using the email app to handle my Gmail. Thanks again.
I tried deleting Facebook, which worked for several days, but now the Acore Error back with a vengeance !!! I do not have the same hierarchy as listed below, so I cannot use the Method #2. I've already tried Method #3, but obviously that did not work. Oh well ..... so much for upgrading to Buggy KitKat ....
At least I'm getting a new phone tomorrow .... Hopefully it will be more stable, and if I'm lucky might even have JellyBean!!! I had NO problems with JellyBean for over three months. Big mistake upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2.

anyone using this room with skype experienced any problem?
using the latest skype, when try signing out, system will show "android.process.acore" after click ok, message pops up right away. Reboot won't help either. Only way getting rid of message is to clear the contact storage.
Fix the android.process.acore
I had this problem after removing a Google account from my phone that did contacts sync. During the removal, my phone crashed (nice job guys) and it clearly corrupted something..
I DID NOT NEED TO RESET MY PHONE TO FACTORY SETTINGS OR RE-FLASH ANY FIRMWARE, ETC
IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING PROCESS WILL DELETE ALL LOCALLY STORED CONTACTS FROM YOUR PHONE. BUT DON'T WORRY, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RESTORE ANY CONTACTS THAT YOU REMOTELY SYNCED WITH AN ACCOUNT (SUCH AS A GOOGLE ACCOUNT).
I fixed my phone by going to:
1. Setting > Application Manager
2. Slide over to the "ALL" tab
3. Select the "Contacts Storage" application
4. Click the "Turn Off" button
5. Click the "Force Stop" button
6. Click the "Clear Cache" button
7. Click the "Clear Data" button
8. Uncheck the "Show Notifications" option
9. Click the "Turn On" button
This should immediately resolve your issue.
IF YOU PREVIOUSLY DISABLED CONTACTS SYNCING FOR ANY OF YOUR "ACCOUNTS", YOU SHOULD RE-ENABLE IT NOW TO GET YOUR CONTACTS BACK ON YOUR PHONE.
If you're using the Facebook app (com.facebook.katana) , especially the "dev" version, try freezing/disabling, then clearing data and cache in it, seems FB doesn't do much contacts sanitizing....

anyone using this room with skype experienced any problem?
using the latest skype, when try signing out, system will show "android.process.acore" after click ok, message pops up right away. Reboot won't help either. Only way getting rid of message is to clear the contact storage.

I had this issue with skype and resolved it by re enabling calendar storage in Titanium Backup. Maybe you got the same situation.

The best way to resolve this issue is
- Turn Off Sync
- Remove Your Google account account from your device
-Add your google account again
-Turn on sync
BOOM you are done now
U ROCK!!!
the second solution which is clearing the ''contacts storage'' data fixed it but the problem occurred when i uninstalled facebook actually it happened to me on my other phone ( ''Galaxy Note II'' to be exact ) just by logging out of my account in the facebook app so i had to factory reset the phone
i wonder why ? all my devices have official roms with no root
anyway thanks
I get this problem "Unforunately,android.process.acore has stopped".
I have stock rom. I have Xposed framework installed,is that the source of the problem?
Thanx in advance for helping me.
My device:Samsung Galaxy S Duos2
I used to get that error message many times. With my first Note 3, it finally got so bad that I could not use my Note 3 anymore. Samsung sent me a replacement Note 3, which I still have. I started getting that error again on my second Note 3. Had to do a Factory Reset, which seemed to fix the issue. However, now I'm getting a new error message that just started when I upgraded to Lollipop 5.0 >>> Touch Wiz suddenly quits. After about 15-20 seconds starts up again.
Hey all! If none of the above solutions are working for you (like in my case), then please try this solution I found that worked for me:
1. Uninstall the app that is causing the popups (this could be Facebook, OneNote, WhatsApp, Skype, etc...).
2. Disable Goolge+.
3. Reinstall app that was causing the popups (sign in, get it going).
4. Re-enable Google+ (I actually haven't cause I don't use it, but that's up to you).
It looks like 5.1 fix this, so hang in there!
I just got the Lollipop 5.0 Update for my Note 3 about a week ago. So far, seems to be running ok. I have a list of 11 issues with Lollipop, one which a Samsung Tech Support lady helped me fix (after many calls to tech support, with no help). Another issue I discovered the solution by myself (by accident), and one more issue I found the answer online after reading many articles, and watching many videos.
I have not seen this issue "android.process.acore" with the Lollipop 5.0 Update. Hoping to get another update to fix the remaining issues (Screenshot, Battery Drain, WiFi, RAM, Bluetooth, TouchWiz).

Finally....Finally....this worked for me, nothing else did except this. Never used G+, so didn't re-enable it.
Thanks!

Yea, I tried everything else in this forum and on the web> Facebook uninstall, stop all contacts, calendar, google play related apps and clear data, delete google account, etc...
Have now cleared and uninstalled Skype, Airdroid, and mightytext since it seems to be a Google Contacts syncing issue. This still hasn\t helped. Will keep you all posted if I find the culprit.
