Hi, I have this problem which is, i bought my Sony Xperia Tablet Z from China, and i believe it is locked onto the asian software which is (i think) causing me unable to use Play Store. Is there a way that i can change the software back to the UK or Europe software? It's really annoying that i cannot download apps from the play store.
Somebody out there please help me!

Can someone who has an unbranded Xperia Z with UK FW please dump/create a FTF and post the ROM here?
The only generic FW posted here is from a demo device unfortunately.
Thanks.
I got mine from Carphone Warehouse earlier today and I haven't touched it yet so I might be able to help. Not sure how to make a ftf from it though..

That'd be awesome though it's a bit of work...
The basic instructions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27031352
Note that doing this WILL re-flash your phone (because the update can't be stopped after it has downloaded) so you may not want to go ahead.
You will also need to use the beta Flashtool for Xperia Z to actually decrypt the files. Then you can load them up in full Flashtool and proceed to make FTF out of it (I think, didn't do this myself, I stopped after decrypting them).
I would suggest not doing this if you're not tech savvy.

In the meantime you can safely flash the French generic firmware posted here. It's full-retail and I've been using it. As all firmwares in this part of the world are multilingual anyway there isn't much difference.
But yeah, UK FW would be nice...
Question: if I flash non-branded firmware (French for example) and then use Sony Update Service to re-install my firmware, which firmware will it download? French unbranded? The branded one I had before from my carrier? UK unbranded?

It will read your current version, so if you flashed french, SUS would give you french

Looks simple enough. I'll have a look at doing this in a little while. At the moment, I'm just doing some modding of SystemUI which I'll post about when I'm done. Then I can sort this out for you.

Wrong. Simply unplug after the download is complete and your device will remain untouched.

It re-downloads the currently running one. If you already reflashed the phone and didnt note down your SI you may never go fully back to stock if you cant find the FTF of the exact firmware you were originally running.

Anyone know if I can update my phone without using the PC Companion software, when I check for updates on my phone it says none are available?
If you have rooted your device, you should be able to flash the new rom. But I don't know why you wouldn't want to use PC Companion.
The reason I didn't want to do that was because I am at work and didn't think I would need it on this pc and my home one, but I have now installed it here as well and it still says no updates available?
Yet according to the sony website it was released yesterday...

I'm getting seriously annoyed that the Sony website has now just been updated to say that in the UK the new firmware version is 434 but I've STILL not received any updates. I've never even received 350v2. What the hell?! Going to end up throwing the phone at the wall at this rate. My phone is unbranded, I don't get it.

When flashing with FlashTool, you don't need to hold power+vol down (or up?), just vol down on a completely turned off phone.

I have flashed my C6602 with C6603 firmware, and in INFO menu if i choose LTE it just switches back to GSM/WCDMA or what was previous choice.
Is there a place I can get the latest stock roms? I have xperia z which is on three network, would flashing the sony rom remove the branding? And if it does is the warranty lost then?
I know htc roms are available on a website but I can't find one for xperia z.
I want to flash it just because I still have not received the update, but do branded phones get the update at same time as unbranded ones?

Hi, I need help. I'm living in China and had no idea that phones bought from here have different firmware compared to Europe. So I bought Z1, but it's completely useless for me without maps, Sony Play etc.
I'm total disaster when it comes to IT issues, but after reading several threads in this forum, I can understand there might be a solution for my problem. So I would appreciate a lot if someone could give me step by step guide.
My out-of-box Z1 spec is following:
Model L39h
Firmware 14.1.G.2.257
Or maybe somebody can recommend specialist in Shanghai who can help me with my problem?
Thanks in advance!
vaswhouNew
Are you crazy? It all comes with maps and play store. Just go to play store and download, or flash new firmwares if you want. Read the guide

Global LTE are for C6903, not C6902/L39. For a step by step, just use the search, key word is "Flashtool".
BTW I think this post is in the wrong section.

He is not crazy, at least Xperia sold in China has Google framework service removed by default, and it is a pain in a## to get it back.
The best way is to figure out the model of your phone. Dial *#*#7378423#*#* in phone pad, click service info then model info.
Then you need to download corresponding firmware ex. C6903 and flash it with flashtool.

Hi all,
I've bought a Sony Xperia SP M35h in China and everything works fine but I cannot install Google Play or other Google Apps (Gmail, Maps, Drive, etc). From what I've read I should root my phone, but I have not find any suitable version for my phone.
I have been trying to solve this issue for months now..Any idea?
Many many thanks,:good::good:
Martim
thats highly unusual since google play comes installed on the phone, are you sure its a legit model ?
Google: Googleplay apk and find a suitable link, you should have no trouble installing it to be honest as the phone should come preloaded with Google services, plus when you get on it, it will need a Gmail account which can be made via the Googleplay store
Guys, thanks for the help.
The phone is legit but was bought in China and is from China Unicom. Even if it is unblocked and I can put my sim card, all google services crash whenever I try to open them (I can install but they do not run).
I tried to install different .apk. There was one that I was able to open, but I could never login to the Google Pay store.. at it mentioned connection problems.
Any idea on how to solve this?
Many thanks!
Got some photo's of the device for us? It is weird that the device you have is not working since it is (or seems) a legit device.
try sony pcc to make sure your phone is legit then you can easily update or repair your phone .
It works just fine with Sony Pcc. In fact, I have contacted Sony before.. and what they told me is that operating system for Chinese phones is different and that should be the reason why I cannot use Google services.
Should I need to change operating system? Is it possible?

Did you went to a store or something to ask what kind of Xperia they sell there?
Because you have C5303, C5306 and C5302 < This one has no LTE and the C5306 one is mostly sold in USA..
Edit: If I Google Sony Xperia M35h I get the C5302 on many websites. I will dig a bit futher for you but I recommend you to visit a nearby store to check what version they sell..

Use Xperifirm to download the software.
NFC doesn't work, that's it if I remember right.
In the end I reverted back to JP software because I needed NFC.
If you want to get rid of japanese bloatware, flash /oem partition from taiwan or hongkong firmware.
use newflasher.
to flash just /oem, only put files that start with "oem" in newflasher's folder.
