[Q] Noob Question. - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, i rooted my phones and my friends phones with towelroot. I rebooted my phone a few times afterwards and i did not have the custom logo. Well i rebooted my phone recently and i now have the custom logo, if i flash my phone back to "stock" would it get rid of the custom logo? Just wanted to know my options.

Questions belong in the QA section
Use triangle away. It will remove it without losing root. Flashing stock will also remove it at the expense of losing root.

You can't flash on this phone but you can use Safestrap to fake flash. There is a huge thread on it in the development section for this phone.
Which thread I wasn't able to find it

Even works on new updated firmware At&t pushed out.
N900AUCUBMJ5
Kingo is updated http://www.kingoapp.com/. They have more updates coming.
Lot of people now trust this method and It is one of the only ways to root right now.
I am using this method and have been since it came out.
11/26/13 On a warranty replacement with latest Kingo Root and firmware.
No problems what so ever, phone is perfect so far.
This method is so much faster and works perfectly.
Confirmed and working great on AT&T Note 3.
Does not trip the knox counter.
(It does show Custom Status but you can change it)
No factory reset, and no wiping data !!!!!!
One Click and your done.
SUPERSU
After that you can install XposedInstaller and WANAM.
There are some kool things you can do with that.
For one > Make it show Official Status instead of Custom.
My phone is sicker now !!!!!!! SWEET
Wanam Xposed
I have rooted my SM-N900A with Kingo root. I installed Exposed. And I have installed the Wanam module for Xposed. Under Security hacks, I have checked Fake system status. However, on reboot, it still says custom. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Or what else I might need to do?
Make sure Wanam exposed is checked off inside of xposed installer under the modules section that will fix your problem if not try updating installer then will work "you do know you need installer correct

Yes. I installed it first. Downloaded .apk from XDA. Then downloaded Wanam from Play store. I checked the wanam module in Xposed. Rebooted. Still said custom. Went in and unchecked Fake system status. Rebooted. Checked Fake system status. Rebooted. Still shows custom. Should I uninstall wanam module, reinstall, and check it in xposed before trying to make any changes? Thank you for your help.
I'm trying to think what I did but how I explained in post I swear worked for me cuz I had same problem sorry can't be more of assistance

Not a problem. You did help. You told me about activating the module in Xposed. But I did fix it. I uninstalled wanam, downloaded and installed from the play store again. Then I checked it in Xposed, opened wanam, checked fake status and rebooted. It works now. Thank you for your help.
Glad you got it working

all those who used kingo root. what will happen when 4.4 comes out in a few weeks? will we be able to update? im on the most recent release with kingo root.

No one knows yet...
Best bet would be upgrade your super user to pro and tell it to attempt to hang onto root when upgrading.

From what I heard 4.4 is several months away for AT&T users. AT&T is usually about 6 months behind the initial release of an Android version.
As for the root, King can be uninstalled simply bu going into settings for Super User. Once uninstalled the phone is returned to non-root stock. Then you can run the OTA once it comes. After the update, re-rooting will be the big question. Will Kingo still work? Who knows. Maybe AT&T will lock us down even tighter with that release.

unrooting

is there any way of unrooting the galaxy note 3 and resetting knox completely to stock?
Questions belong in the QA section.
Yes you can unroot.
No you cannot reset Knox back to 0x0
Are you sure you tripped knox?

not sure but i took the phone to samsung mobile at bestbuy and when they plugged it in to there system it shows i had been rooted even after unrooting. do i really have to hard reset after the unrooting process i never flashed to any roms
Your flash counter must have been tripped.
You will need to reroot and use triangle away to reset it. Then unroot and restore back to stock if possible. There is a guide in the general section.
The 2 rooting methods I know of do not trip knox.

Doing a factory reset and keeping root

I have a rooted Note 3 and was wondering is it possible to do a factory reset and keep root? I am considering selling my note so I want the phone to be completely wiped of my personal information but have it retain root as I think that will help the resale. I have not flashed roms I am still using stock but am using things like xsposed installer. Thanks.

Yes...... You should keep root! I personally have factory reset my device a few times and never lost root!

On 4.3, scared to do anything

Ok, got a note 3 with 4.3 again.
No lies, not fraud, no nothing except a faulty power port and honesty and I ended up with a 4.3 note 3 again
Pant, pant..WHAT DO I DO, I know Kingo root. Titanium backup first. The opporturnity to use my microsd card again! I am actually excited!
And after Kingo, how do I not AT&T upgrade?
I am hearing it forces you after a little while, what do I do? I really want to keep my root!
I am so sorry to my Note Brethren with KK without any way to use THEIR phones. My sympathies are sincere!
Any advice appreciated!

Ok, so if I am at 4.3, and want to keep my root, is there a path to kk that still has root? I would prefer the non ss route. BTW, the main thing that makes me root is I want to use my Microsd card and when unrooted backup and other apps seem unable to access it properly.

SS is the only way to go. There are no downsides to using SS to use a custom ROM.
Sent from my SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Seems like kk isn't worth the effort, you can't access the Microsd, the wifi Hotspot is locked off unless you pay at&t and all issues have been fixed in 4.3, anything gained?

Not at all slow.
Your stock ROM runs on the same thing your storage does. The EMMC.

Plus, with SS and KK, you have to flash to the stock slot.

Got back root on 4.3, Sweet Archemedes this feels good, like my phone again!
Stock slot, would that be the one that is the original ROM?
Dynamic Kat looks intreguing. But it says I have to have KK first. Can I get DK working from JB rooted?
Indeed it is.
Use this guide. (replace the Urdroid KK ROM that he says to download with DynamicKat)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712039
Then head over to our development section and find the SS thread.
You will need both 3.71 and 3.72
3.71 will get you to KK with the guide. Once there, you will need to reinstall it and use it to uninstall the recovery.
Then uninstall the app.
After that, install 3.72 and use it to install your new recovery. That way you don't have to use odin every time you want to flash a mod or new kk rom

So I'm on stock 4.3. Mj5. I have rooted and I'm confused on getting to custom firmware. I've played with SS 3.71. But I tried to install custom Ron but was unsuccessful. Can someone tell me or link me to a thread. Please. I just came from a galaxy s3 to the n900a. I'd like to start with cm11.

1. Don't hijack threads
2. Only TW based ROMs can be flashed.
3. Go read the SS development thread.
You need to make sure you are on 3.71 when trying to flash a 4.3 ROM and 3.72 to use KK.

[Q] Return to Fresh ouf of the Box!! aka stock!

I need to return my phone to out of the box fresh. I've been reading and searching and I'm finding info about Odin and MJ5, but I'm not sure which I need to do. The only thing I've done to my phone is root it (then unroot it) with Kingo. I unrooted it, so I could apply the stock 4.4.2 upgrade, but it fails. So now I want to return it to its original state so I can try the upgrade again. I want to keep it close to stock, because I need to use phone encryption so I can use it for work as well. I really need someone to point me in the right direction.

This my sound like a dumb question, but I am going to as any way. I bought a used note 3 and the previous owner had rooted it and installed saftystrap and installed a rom to the stock slot but made no back up. I searched but could not find stock 4.2.2 firmware. Any one know where I could find it. My phone is working great but would still like the option of having the stock files just incase. thanks in advance for the help.
