Hi,
today I wanted to recover my Lumia 1520 from 8.1 developer prev. to WP 8.0 via the Nokia Software Recovery Tool.
After the download of the WP OS the Software started to apply the downloaded Image to the phone.
After 1% I got the message that an error appeared. From this time on, I am not able to turn on the phone. I also tried a hard reset, but nothing changed. When I connect the phone to my Notebook it just recognizes an unknown device. The Nokia Software does not recognize the phone.
Does anybody have an idear ?
Have you tried different USB ports? Also, have you tried holding Vol Down+Power for about 15-20 seconds while plugged in?

Thanks for your answer.
Yes, I already tried that.
Worst B-Day ever ....
When you hold the Vol Down + Power, do you eventually hear it buzz?

nothing.....
Once I plugged the phone to my laptop and it was recognized as Nokia Emergency "something" (can not remember). The Nokia Software was not able to upload WP8 at this time as well.
turn off your device
then press and hold power button and volume down until it vibrates
after it vibrates hold the volume up button
you are now in flashing mode. you will see a cog and a lightning bolt

Thanks for your help. But where can I find the product type and product code when I can not turn on the phone ? It is an German Lumia 1520.1 (factory unlocked) phone.
Looks like the battery is completely discharged.
Plug into the wall and press Power button. A battery charge symbol should show briefly. Charge it for a few hours and try turning it on again. Should come back to life...

The download of 059V1N1 is already in Progress (66%).
I found this part in your Manual:
•Connect the USB end into the USB port of your PC. Turn off your WP8 Nokia Lumia. Connect the other USB end to the USB port of your WP8 Nokia Lumia. Press both the Power button and the Volume Down button. Once a vibration felt, click on Retry in Recovery window.
This is the hard reset, which is not working on my phone...

I'll post this again...
Looks like the battery is completely discharged.
Plug into the wall using the charger. If you pres the power button, a charge symbol should appear briefly, and then disappear. If it doesn't, let it charge for an hour and try again. Charge the phone for a few hours to get some charge into the battery and try the power button again. If the Nokia logo appears, we're halfway there...
The above step is VERY important. If you don't do this, your phone will not flash or turn on....
If this works and the Nokia logo shows, you are good to go...
1 - Make sure the phone is off.
2 - Make sure you haven't connected the phone to the computer with USB cable
3 - Using the Nokia Care Suite you used before in Recovery mode.
4 - When you get to the screen (the screenshot you posted), plug the USB cable into the computer. Don't connect the phone yet.
5 - Hold volume down and connect the USB cable to your phone.
6 - You should feel a vibrate. Release volume down and click 'Retry' on the computer.
Your phone should now flash the ROM.
As I said, as your phone is not turning on at all at the moment, the battery is fully discharged. I have had this happen to me. Using the steps outlined, I got my phone fully working again.
Good luck, hope it works

Does your phone vibrate when you press power + vol up? Can you get it into flashmode?
If your pc recognizes the phone as qhsusb_dload or something like qloader it's hard bricked and there's nothing left you can do..

I'm afraid to say this but it seems your phone is hard bricked... Try to do a rubber band across it so that the power button and vol up buttons get pressed all the time and plug it into your wallcharger. If that doesn't help bring it to your local sony service centre and let them repair it although they will very likely charge of a service fee.
Good luck mate!

Thank you, I will try that. It is really weird, the last thing I did was pressing the restart in recovery button.
I bricked my phone while trying to unlock bootloader (didnt wait for the command prompt to complete the process) and later my pc was recognizing it as qhsusb_dload. But my volume buttons were working and I used the Sony update service to restore it.

It is very possible, frequent restarts eat away alot of battery, and you never know maybe it was on while you saw a black screen thinking it was off.

Then its probably very hard bricked. You should take it to Sony and let them figure it out.

If you see a flashing blue light, when it is not plugged in, it's because the bootload was entered improperly and is in safe mode. The only way you can fix it, is to do a system wipe via Sony Companion and reinstall stock ROM. It's an Xperias way of bootlooping into a safe mode when it's locked.

Too bad Sony doesn't implement an ADB OTI. Otherwise you could flash ROMs even with factory lock and never brick it.
i am experiencing the same problem right now. hadn't touched the tablet in a couple weeks, i seem to remember turning it off because it was really low on battery and the charger wasn't near. now it is just a black rectangle.. LED never responds, charging doesn't do anything, doesn't show up on ADB or flashtool.
seems like it is some problem with the firmware or hardware since all the android devices i've owned have always charged (with the LED on) regardless of the condition of the software (hell my one x that busted open and the screen doesn't work still charges and hooks up to the computer)
i would love to get this fixed because sony tech support pretty much bent me over today.

Did you try external battery terminal dismount?
what is "external battery terminal dismount"?
Last night I plugged my phone in when it was at 9%. Woke up this morning and it was dead.
Steps Taken:
1. Tried 6 other chargers (including a tablet charger)
No luck2. Held down Power+Volume Down
Boot menu loaded. Tried to "Reboot". No luck.Went into Boot again, tried charging it and it said "Fastboot AC" Left it at this for almost 45 minutes and tried booting but thing.3. Plugged into a computer and nothing.
4. Tried the Light + Sensor + Power/Volume trick.
5. Computer recognizes it as (Android 1.0)
Cannot plug it into a desktop with Sync Manager due to at work ATM6. Tried holding power.
7. Tried power + Volume Up
I'm very stuck at this point.
I have no LED's, no home button lighting up. Phone isnt getting warm on a charger like usuall. Need some help please.
PS I read multiple threads on not powering on and did all the tricks I can. From what I've read they all could get nothing out of the phone where as I had something in the begining.
Phone is stock. It was rooted, but I have it back to stock now.
Alright new update.
Plugged the phone into the computer. Installed HTC Sync Manager. Held down Power + Volulme down. The computer beeps as if new device connected. I hit the power button again and the phone disconnects from the computer. Could this be a fault display or bad board?
does the device manager on windows show:
QHSUSB-DLOAD mode ????
Qualcomm Highpeed USB Download Mode
if yes... it's pretty much a bricked device... if you're on stock... just return it..
even if it was rooted they won't be able to boot it up either... and so they won't see if it was rooted..

hi all,
so i woke up today, took note of something via small notes app on the phone.
went back to sleep with the phone on the charger.
i wake up, try to turn the screen on (LED light indicated full charge with green light), & the screen does not turn on! i figure my hand was blocking the light sensor so i make certain my hand isnt in the way, & try again, still not response. next thing i do is hold the power button & volume rocker up but all this does is turn the phone completely off(no more green led)!
since then i have been trying, & trying to do the reset of vol up + power with no results.
im afraid the phone is dead, & i have to purchase a new one, but im hoping that there is a last resort tactic i may use to revive the phone.
thanks in advance.
:good:
may someone be kind enough to help?
or to point me to proper thread.
ive searched & only results lead to solution which involves pc companion which ive tried but it is not recognizing my phone.
thanks

needless to say i am certainly happy the phone is working.

A friend brought me the phone. When charging from the adapter to the phone logo LG. The buttons do not respond. When I connect the phone to the PC, it does not see it 3 times on 3 reboots and gives the msg "After removing and reattaching battery, press power key to reboot and keep using phone". These manipulations do not give any result. If you pull out the battery and connect the phone to any key (VOL-) button to a PC the starts vibrating motor at different speeds.
Question. Phone died or bootloader or something else, there are options to do something at the home or just service center.

Note: If you can't get sw upgrade screen, you just geting some green stripes or similar try without removing battery, that was in my case, just left battery inside phone trough all process.

My 5 cents are on that your volume - button is stuck (or the phone thinks it is) being held, hence you enter "lg service mode" when you plug it into computer. It would also explain the reboots with vibrations.
Make sure that it isn't the case, other than that I think you should take it to a service center

Don't you have to remove the battery, hold the power button, then plug in the USB cable while still holding it (release after S/W comes up) in order to make the phone boot into S/W mode? In the video you just plug the USB in and put battery back in a bit after.
I suggest you try different methods of booting into S/W and also try different flashing methods to re-flash the stock firmware.Should these fail, you should get it to a LG service center.
Also is that a crack on your micro sd reader or is it just a scratch at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYic7b6dwS0#t=10 ?
