Hi all,
I have a Xperia Z1 running KitKat and have a problem with app updates, wonder if I'm the only one or that others also suffer from this problem. I have disabled in the Update Center the automatic update of apps and also in the Playstore, nevertheless apps get updated all the time. Since I use mostly my data connection, this costs me a lot of data usage. Even if I set updates only to be done via Wifi, which is most of the time off, apps will get updated all the time via my data connection. Any ideas/fixes to solve this problem??
Thanks in advance and kindest regards, kuzibri
Go to Setting -> Data, set limited value and find restrick background data. Good luck!

First go to settings/data usage. Set data limit. Or even go to settings/more/mobile and networks/apn and delete your APNs
Even if did not work, do the below method
Flash a stock Rom
Then see what happens
Hi guys,
thanks for your replies. I already installed a data limit, but with your answers, the problem is potentially not solved. Question still is: How is it possible that apps keep on updating whilst this possibility is disabled in the Playstore as well as in the Update Center

Download Avast anti virus and in the firewall part, choose which which apps are allowed to use net
I don't know whether this option needs root or not
So if it needs, root your phone and maybe your problem will be solved

It has a firewall that can let which apps could use net and which could not
And also it needs root access too

I don't know when it begin, however, since yesterday, every application I downloaded from the market, will show me this error message
"<Application Name> could not be downloaded due to an error"
I googled it and tried every single solution provided , that could be summed up to these few things
a. use another account --> tried, didn't work
b. flashed cache (dalvik cache, application caches) --> tried, didn't work
c. flash the ROM again ---> havn't done so!
d. change account password ---> tried, didn't work
The problem only when downloading the application from Market - as if my account is rejected. There is no problem using Talk, or Gmail or Youtube or Maps.
With exception of (c) - i have no other idea.
Suggestions?

I use Semaphore Kernel and activated the "Change /cache to virtual 50 Mb" option. I deactivated it and now market works as normal

Yeah, good idea. Try a different market version. That may solve this.
It blows my mind that the description for the error is that you have an error. That just seems lazy.
I have the same problem, I have uninstalled the market updates but still no luck.
The problem started yesterday, I'm using Juews smart edition v6.
same here..
When the error is shown, I quickly check that the version has been updated. HOWEVER, this doesn't mean that the problem started because of an update as I have not been downloading much thing from market anyway.
Logically - since the problem occur after an update, I thought, let's uninstall update. And then the market went down to version during Froyo time. Problem remains !
I download market 3.2.0 and problem remains. That's where I started to go crazy... tried every method that my google friend could find, nothing works.
an idea!
What if , the problem is somehow due to insufficient access right to download files from the market? Where does market placed the download files? If anyone knows the temporary folder .. could you tell me the access right setting as well.

I use Semaphore Kernel and in one of the option is to change /cache to virtual 50 MB. I disabled this and market downloads work as usual
I got mine working by reflashing juews smart edition v6 (no wipe)
hope it helps!

Hi how do i remove this?
View attachment 972330
try to search here Home Google Play
Cant find my answer there... is this gonna do something about the debranding stuffs? Cus i dont want to root my phone...
I think it has to do with your Note's sales code. You can key in *#272*your imei number#. You may be at SIN. If you don't want to root and don't mind a factory reset, you can install XSP which is operator independent. It may solve your 'problem'.
Why remove this?

I did some googling and it gave me APN settings. It could be because you are accessing google play via Singtel Ideas 3G? Try disabling data network and connect to wifi then open google play?

If you still want to access SingTel 3G, you can't clear it. Unless you don't mind only limited to Wifi access. But try first if it's really the issue.
confirm its apn... cus i tried on my wifi network and the ideas store is removed.. so what do i do now?

Hey guys,
I posted a query in the Philz forum as well regarding this, however, since I've moved on to the hydracore v5.4, I thought I might post it here, too.
I'm on stock ICS with hydracore v5.4 now (having changed from speedmod k13 to Philz cwm6 v2.7 to hydracore). All my websites including facebook are talking to me; I just cannot disable these voice prompts! I checked the "talkback," "explore by touch," and the "drive mode," none of which is checked... what seems to be the issue? The whole problem began when I changed to Philz kernel; I even did a couple of hard resets... :crying: Please help.
check any specific app that is causing this problem.. nothing related to kernel
Light Flow or Tasker.

disable voice talk
as in click on it and do a STOP
Try this
Settings, Lanuage & Input, Text-to-speech Output, Driving Mode - untick
or you can double click Home button then when you get to the Voice Talk screen turn off the Driving Mode car button

I was just wondering if it would have the latest update or if there is a way to verify it. I think it's a moot point since its a auto pushed update but I thought to ask. Thanks !

Most likely it is the original firmware, but it should auto update on its own. You can verify the version by looking at your device using the Chromecast app from Play Store. Just remember to disconnect your router from the internet if you want to keep an older version of the firmware so you can cast local stuff.
Thanks for your response ! What would be the new update? Is rooting possible with new update ?

The new updates disabled local streaming and rooting. So far I haven't seen any advantages with rooting it.

Update may make your performance a touch better, especially for older TVs. I haven't noticed any difference. I wouldn't do it.
But wouldnt rooting it allow streaming from any source? (Any app or browser etc? Thanks !

Maybe one day, but for now rooting doesn't really do anything other than give you shell access via telnet and allow you to block updates to preserve root for possible future benefits...

App is good for security but once you activate it and enable password for applications it gives you really bad annoying experience. To fix the issue, please do following:
If you have Screen lock = Pattern then you need to change it to PIN
Go to Settings => Security => Device Administrator and untick X - Alert for XPERIA
Now go to Settings => Apps => All = Select X - Alert for XPERIA
