I installed Clock Work Mod on my Samsung Galaxy Mini and after that, I selected "Reboot from recovery mode" and then after that the device turned off. It would not turn on anymore! Can't enter download mode and recovery mode, screen is off, no backlights. Odin would not detect it too. Please help.
I don't know if this is the right section. Thanks.

By the way, is the USB Jig for SGS the same size with the USB slot of the Galaxy Mini? Does the USB Jig works on Galaxy Mini? Is this tried and tested on this pgone? Sorry for too many questions. Thanks.

I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=14.728119,121.029307
Go a google search with "unbricking galaxy s jig"
It can be use for xperia mini too.
Gudluck!
It might be,battery suddenly empty. Its hard for phone to brick.Charge ur phone 1st at full... And choose the right baseband according rom prequistid. I b4 this rooted and installing CWM on this galaxy mini and the phone at samsung logo or samsung galaxy mini logo.
As on my condition, follow guide that been explained. If u have flashed the CWM, REBOOT. Then at samsung logo, press volume down, then u can access CWM. To avoid other probs, flash it with cyanogen mod. Or it maybe cant be loaded.
As far i concerned, for galaxy mini got 2 type of recovery. That is,
Enchanced recovery
&
Tass Recovery
For me,choose tass recovery.

(I think this set of steps works in these conditions: Hard-brick, absolutely non-responsive to any button combination. Odin still recognizes the phone when connected through USB port)
1.- Remove both the SIM card and de microSD card.
2.- KEEP YOUR BATTERY REMOVED
3.- Apply the Download-mode button combination (known by you all)
4.- WHILE HOLDING THE COMBINATION, insert the battery, and keep the buttons pressed untill you get the download mode.
5.- Flash your phone with a valid firmware through Odin (Preferebly, have Odin prepared before doing this trick)
I finally flashed it widh Gingerbread 2.3.4 but i don't really like it, because it ended up a little buggy, which i am still trying to get rid of.
Anyway, i hope this helps.
Have a nice day

This tutorial is very complicated and I have tried to explain it as best as I can, hope it help some of you guys.
PS. If you have any USB driver problems or windows deleted problems with device managers or drivers in general causing errors you must fix these problems first or use a different computer, if the drivers wont install properly you cannot do it on that computer.
EDIT: Gingerbread 2.3.4 firmware, I can confirm this works
Did I get some of the previous posts about using usb jigs for SGS on samsung galaxy GT S 5570 right??
What software is required?
Some USB jigs for SGS 900XX (as in 9000i 9003i etc) are available on line for between INR 250 to 600 (1 U$D is approx 49 INR).

Dear Arsalan,
I face same problem with my galaxy mini and try to use your procedure for ON my galaxy mini but I not successful please help me.
Hey All,
So I'm in the process of helping a friend with his Galaxy Ace from Koodo. As it turns out the phone looks like it's semi-bricked but we may be mistaken all together so here goes:
My buddy tried using SuperOneClick to root his device however half way through the process, it froze and when he restarted his device, it hangs at the Samsung logo during the startup boot sequence.
1. When using a combination of UP Arrow + Home button + Power, he receives a message stating:
"RAMDUMP Mode
(ARM9 mode)"
In this mode he cannot do very much however his PC does recognize the device. Odin does not work in this mode.
2. When using a combination of DOWN arrow + Home button + Power, he received 2 different screens. The first is a bright pink colored screen that states:
"Warning!
A custom OS can cause critical problem in phone and installed applications. If you want to download a custom OS, press Volume UP key. Otherwise, press Volume DOWN key to cancel."
Pressing the down arrow brings him back to the frozen Samsung logo on startup however when pressing the UP arrow, the phone goes into "Downloading..." mode. In this mode, Odin DOES work.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for the troubleshooting we've done. We managed to find a few articles online that asked us to use the Odin tool. We downloaded a few different sets of the files needs (Cooper.ops, CODE, MODEM, CSC & BOOT). Odin then detects the phone in 'Downloading..." mode and proceeds to installing the rom. It completes successfully however it does not reboot. The screen simply flashes with the Samsung logo again.
The original firmware build before the device stopped working ended with TLKI4.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Can anyone suggest anything else we can try?
2. Do you know if the bootloader needs to be flashed first and if so, how?
Note: We can not take the device back to Koodo as it was purchased on Kijiji and no receipt was provided. It's the GT-S5830D.
Thanks in advance,
1- boot into recovery and try to wipe data and cache. u can enter recovery mode by pressing home+power.
2- it doesnt matter, u already flashed new bootloader by flashing the phone via odin.
btw does the "D" in "GT-S5830D" bring any different in hardware with international regular GT-S5830 that most of us here use?
if its different by somehow, u shouldnt flash generic international GT-S5830 rom into it. i know for sure that galaxy ace korean version cannot use generic rom from international galaxy ace.
yep there are some 5830D specific roms on sammobile.. try them instead of generic ace

Can you point me to a certain rom/boot loader to download from sammobile? I was there earlier this morning however I didn't see any mention of Canada anywhere and I left before I messed things up further.
Even if you could just tell me which one it is I have to download, I'll do the rest myself.
Thanks a bunch!

There is no option to wipe the device. In fact, I have had other Galaxy S models and I'm pretty familiar with the screen however the Ace does not load into that recovery. Either it goes to "Downloading.." or "RAMDUMP (Arm9 mode)".
Thanks

but not to worry alternative site has one specifically rare rom of "D"

Thanks buddy! I tried that exact ROM however it didn't seem to work either. I used the 'Coopers_V1.0.ops" file under the "OPS" option in Odin and the "S5830DTLKI4_S5830DTLSKI4_S5830DTLKI4_HOME.tar.md5" file under the "One Package" option. Like I said before, the flash went through in "Downloading..." mode, and Odin said "PASS" however, when it came time for the phone to reboot itself, the screen started flashing and did nothing new. Same Samsung logo appears and it seems to hang right there.
Also I dont think the device has a same recovery menu anymore because even though I hold down the Home + Power buttons, it does nothing. It simply flases the screen at the Samsung logo screen.
Any other tips for me to try? Thanks again!
wierd that u cannot enter recovery mode while u can enter download mode and successfully flash it using odin.
even if u messed up recovery when u first use superoneclick earlier, flashing via odin should also flash it with new fresh recovery. so how long did u hold the home+power? i'm asking just to be sure. maybe u not hold it long enough for recovery mode to kick in.

I held it down for more than a minute just to make sure. As soon as I put the battery back in and try and restart the phone, it goes into an infinite loop at the Samsung screen.
Even I find it odd that the phone will go into Downloading mode but not recovery.
Any other suggestions?
try to install qtadb (google for it). connect the phone with pc via usb, launch qtadb and boot the phone. qtadb should display some logcat. paste the logcat output here. maybe we might have a clue whats wrong by looking into the logcat
but even if phone still stuck, just wait a few moment. if qtadb had access to the phone system via its native filemanger, it means u can use adb. use adb to reboot phone into recovery

Hi
Firstly, I'm sorry about my incorrect english.
I have a big problem with my rooted Galaxy Note Stock ICS 4.0.4.
After a phone restore (done in the Options menu) I encountered a boot problem.
When I turn the phone on, I see the white Galaxy Note GT-7000 writing and then
the Samsung Galaxy boot logo which continues flashing all the time but the
OS isn't booting. There isn't a boot loop which restarts the phone, only the blinking
Samsung animation.
I do really not know much about Android, rooting, flashing etc so I don't know what
is the problem and what I can do to fix it.
Recently I did a data/factory reset and cache partition wipe in the recovery mode,
hoping that this could help, but that didn't change anything.
After that I flashed another stock rom (ICS 4.0.4 Switzerland (Swisscom)) with
Odin in download mode, but there's still the endless boot problem.
I read about brick and that its not recommended to wipe anyting.
What could be my problem and how could I resolve it?
I'm sorry if theres just another thread which speaks about the same problem, but I
didn't find anyone with the identical situation as mine.
I'm very grateful for any answers.
hmm.. it could be because of data partition corruption..
download this http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ukk00n20dahxxkp
place it on external SD.. boot into recovery and choose apply update from ext storage
once done. boot into recovery again.. now ... in the new CWM. do
factory reset., wipe cache partition
advanced menu> wipe dalvik cache
reboot
Hi,
thank you for your answer. But perhaps as I turned the phone on the first time
since yesterday (i didn't do anything since), I'm not anymore able to go into recovery mode
and the boot process ends just at the white Galaxy Note writing (without bootloop, there's
only the static text)
Only the download mode works fine, but obviously I cant install your file from there...
If you can get into download mode, better flash a stock ics rom first. After the flash is successful you can try to do the procedure as in my previous post.
I tried to flash different roms (also stock ones) but the download of the "factoryfs.img" doesn't finish.
The only thing I could do is to interrupt the downloading and restart from the beginning.
I read that this problem happens sometimes and that it could be resolved rebooting the phone and
the pc, but I didn't got it working
Do you know why it doesn't work? The first time I flashed successfully, but that was the first and the last time.
I don't even get an error or a fail notification...

If Odin stops at "factoryfs.img" you bricked your device.
(I wrote this and the following lines a few times now in the last days, but the different OP are consequently ignoring the message and try other intelligent approaches, in the end they will not succeed, because their Note is still bricked).
Solution: Samsung replaces your motherboard (that is the only real repair).
Workaround: eMMC scanner and repartition trick in hg42's threads.
Nothing else will help if your device is bricked.

You said something about loosing 3 GB repartitioning the memory. Its possible to revive the phone by this way?
Does anyone know approximately how much it will cost me to replace the motherboard of the Note?
download this PIT file http://d-h.st/FVh
now put the phone in download mode again, open odin and select the PIT file in the PIT tab. also make sure repartition is checked.
select the rom in PDA (if more that one file for rom, choose appropriate options)
connect the phone .. when the port is shows in odin flash again,,, check if this also stops at the same factoryfs

if you have warranty thats the first one to do. if not then there is a way by repartitioning the memory to skip the bad blocks, not a guaranteed method but works most of the time. cost of motherboard is high about 350-400$
One final try. If you are able to go recovery mode, pressing volume up, home, power buttons, flash abyss kernel 4.2, do all wipes and formats and flash a custom rom such as kingdroid.

Thank you for your attempt helping me. Perhaps the flashing still fails (factoryfs.img could not be downloaded entirely).
Damn, 350-400$ only for the motherboard is a lot, considering that I bought this almost new phone for around 340$...
Isn't there any other way to get rid of the "brick"? I would accept any loss of memory just to get the phone working...
By the way is it a soft- or a hardbrick?

Hi guys, im using a rooted 2.3.6, then i did the partition for link2sd, and everything worked perfect, however since i downloaded some apps first before doing the partition, i decided to do factory settings on the phone settings so it would be like a fresh internal memory then begin downloading when link2sd is already placed, however after doing factory reset on settings, my phone just keep on rebooting, everytime i open it, i downloaded the firmware in sammobile, as per advised, however im not sure how to flash it. should i use ODIN, or use CWM and do this process.
Using CWM.
Copy Zip to SD Card
Reboot into recovery
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache Partition
Install Zip From SD Card
Flash ROM
Reboot
or should i follow this instruction via odin

Woooooooooo!!!
Stop here!!!
What do you want to flash?
If you want to flash a custom rom, do wipe data/factory reset, wipw cache and go advanced and do wipe dalvik cache too then flash the custom rom you want, (It's fully recommended to follow dev's instructions so the process could change with each rom).
well if you want to flash a fresh stock you should do 3 wipes to and then use Odin with the correct firmware and finished this process you'll need to do wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition to complete the fresh installation of the rom, if no you'll get a bootloop.
Enventually if you want to increase your internal memory you'll need a capable kernel (cf-root, BE, Space, nims11... ) with init.d support or create it by yourself and then you'll need to use link2sd or an int2ext script (I recommend you it, because it's easer to install IMO) with you sd-ext partition created in your microsd previously
All will work fine with this configuration
If you have any kind of question, ask here and we'll try to help you
WAHH OMG i didnt wait for your reply
wahh. what will happen, heres what i did
ACCESS CWM
wipe/factory reset 1x
wipe cache 1x
install from zip (Sll v10)
then reboot
it worked, however you mentioned i should do it 3x, and the one in advance option, but i didnt do it, should i repeat the process with your instruction?..
anyway it's working fine so far, it's not Galaxy SIII though i think what i have is Galaxy SII even when i open and turn off phone it says Galaxy SII..
and the interface already change I mean the design of everything, however my Menu button won't open my Menu, i need to open it using the soft touch application, however the menu hard button is working if i want to go to the main screen and long press access task manager.
do i still need to repeat the process w/ this.
wipe/factory reset 3x
wipe cache 3x
wipe the delvak cache in advance option 1x
install from zip (Sll v10)
then reboot
hoping for your reply
hi,, heres what i did should i change it?

Enventually if you want to increase your internal memory you'll need a capable kernel (cf-root, BE, Space, nims11... ) with init.d support or create it by yourself and then you'll need to use link2sd or an int2ext script (I recommend you it, because it's easer to install IMO) with you sd-ext partition created in your microsd previously
All will work fine with this configuration

wahh. what will happen, heres what i did
ACCESS CWM
wipe/factory reset 1x
wipe cache 1x
install from zip (Sll v10)
then reboot
it worked, however you mentioned i should do it 3x, and the one in advance option, but i didnt do it, should i repeat the process with your instruction?..
anyway it's working fine so far, it's not Galaxy SIII though i think what i have is Galaxy SII even when i open and turn off phone it says Galaxy SII..
and the interface already change I mean the design of everything, however my Menu button won't open my Menu, i need to open it using the soft touch application, however the menu hard button is working if i want to go to the main screen and long press access task manager.
do i still need to repeat the process w/ this.

well it is not bad, but if I were you I'd do "wipe dalvik-cache too" to keep as clean as possible my new rom
About de menu button, I don't know maybe a rom bug??... try another ro.
and ALWAYS FOLLOW DEV'S INSTRUCTION TO FLASH CORRECTLY A NEW ROM
Finally to flash a fresh rom you can follow the C prompt from this guide; (the guide you posted, It's right too )

Hi everyone here!
I had a difficult question. I made a mistake and flashed a s5360 stockrom on a s5830i. Now I could not enter any bootmode trying every keys and combinations. The phone starts and I can read samsung galaxy young gt-s5360 but only the topleft 2/3 of the screen is used. The rest is a bunch of colorful pixel. After some seconds I here the samsung startsound and then a small stripe of the screen shows me a part of a normal started phone. But I see not more then the time and the upper symbols. The phone seems to run. But I dont know? Is there anything I can do for it or is there no possibility if the bootmodes are not reachable.
I had no idea! Is there someone who has a tip for me? I think I could send the telefon to restart in downloadmode, but I dont know how to do because I cant see what happend when I press some keys. I think the system is running, it sounds when pressing vol+ or vol- and vibrates when pressing powerbutton. Thank you for every idea what I could try.

First of all this is a GTs5830 q&a thread, but well, can you boot in download mode?¿

After mourning a moment because it looks like that there is no help for my s5830i, i have another question. With open case I see, on the back in the bottom left between battery and a screw, a connector. Never saw this before though I opened the case many times. It is or was a nice testing device for me. And I tested many ROMs, Mods etc. with it. I dont know what this small connector is? It looks like other small connectors and the innercase has a whole on its position, it seems to be there that a cable could be connected to the device. Does anyone know why there is such an connector on the device? Is it possible that there is something like a serial gateway to the device? Is there someone with knowledge about this?

Sorry about the bad placing of my question. I could not enter any bootmode, i wrote before!

I will ask more simple: Is there any possiblity to bring the phone in downloadmode if pressing the keys during start is not functional?
Or Another idee and another question: Is there a chance to manipulate the phone through USB, to bring it up in downloadmode?

Is your phone a galaxy y ? Are you not able to see what appears on your screen & hence not sure what mode is it entering ? I have a solution ! First google to find an xda thread to flash stock via odin for your device, download all the required files & setup odin. Now once you have setup odin, power off your phone. Simultaneously hold home+power+volume down button. Let whatever appear on your screen but just be sure that the phone is on. Connect your phone to pc via usb cable. If odin recognises the com port & displays as detected, you are good to go ! Just flash according to the instructions !

Thank you for your answer! First the phone with the problem is a galaxy ace gt-s5830i. Until some weeks ago I also had a galaxy young. Thats why I have also stockroms for the young. Then I made a mistake (It was sunday in the morning, sometimes not a good time to flash . I used a stockrom from the Galaxy young gt-s5360 for the ace. Now the ace starts and seems to run but theres a problem with the output of the screen, so I cant see what happend.
But my real problem is that I could not enter any bootmode. I used all keys and every combinations more then one times, but nothing works. Either the downloadmode nor the recoverymode are appearing. So I will follow your advice and will try to bring up the phone in downloadmode regardless what happend on the screen. But Im not really optimistic because every time, Ive start the phone holding a keycombination, the phone doesnt reacts and a few seconds later I hear the samsung startsound. Thats why I think I couldnt reach the downloadmode anymore. And I also tested to what happend if the phone is connect through USB. Odin recognices the Interface, I mean the yellow field with comX appears, but until now every time I start the transfer the logoutput displays "connection failed" and the field above the yellow field goes red. But Im still testing your idea.
Ive also another question. I sadly looked at the ace with the prolem, thinking if there is anything I could do, as I saw what I think is a connector for whatever. With case opened it is left under the battery. I dont know what it is and asked myself if this could be anything like a seriell interface. I find something similar on my galaxy 3. But there is a diffrent connector next to the battery left. Is there any knowledge about this connectors or whatever it is?

There are only two ports for the ace. One to connect the charger/usb & the other to plug in the headphones. As I said earlier, try to flash stock via odin. But by what you have quoted earlier, I don't think it should be a problem if odin recognises your phone. Just keep trying, if you don't find success, you may have to try jtag. Again jtag kit costs you. If I were you after no success, I'd definitely take it to the service center. If they can't start your phone & if they can't see what's happening on your screen, they'll definitely try to flash a new bootloader, which should bring your phone back to life. Worst case, they may replace the motherboard, which I think won't happen. After flashing the bootloader, they'll say that your phone's software was modified & that your warranty is void. But now you've got a new bootloader & you can go flash via odin As easy as that

Hello to all,
I have some issues with my samsung galaxy s advance i9070 working with stock JB JZO54K.I9070XXLQE. With the rooted phone, I wanted to install CWM and followed the procedure, as I entered in recovery mode and accessed the first .zip file. It started to install. Next step was to press the home screen button and touch the display till the screen will show the new recovery interface. But nothing happened. I forgot to mention that I did wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache before starting anything.
My phone started normaly but it seems something wrong happened as it was showing some errors about google apps and almost all google apps disappeared. I shut down system and try again the same procedure, but still nothing happened. Same errors...so I wanted to flash the JB 4.1.2 stock ROM with Odin to get rid of those errors. So after I downloaded from sammobile the firmware, flash it, everything went ok till the phone had to reboot...it remained at the black screen showing the samsung i9070 white logo. I waited for Odin to show pass and disconected. Tried to restart but nothing happens. Still that black screen showing the samsung i9070 white logo. I reflash it second time with Odin using other JB 4.1.2 stock ROM. The problem is the same.
What can I do ? How can I fix the problem? I can enter only in download mode.
I'm new with the android OS. Pls help !

Try to wipe cache and do factory reset now again.
Flash again stock firmware with Odin, if you are able to enter ONLY in download mode. Download again stock firmware and compare the dimensions of files to see if there any difference.
Maybe you flashed a corrupt file.

Yes, i can only enter download mode. After comparing the stock firmwares, I'll try to flash again with Odin. It mathers what version of Odin I'm using ? What should I do if it still won't reboot ?
Flash and leave phne connected until reboot and apear the screen with Google account. I don't see any reason to not boot and hope you have luck.

Hey...I've finally managed to flash it with stock JB and the system starts normaly...You were right about the dimension of the firmware package, thanks a lot. That's one part of the problem solved. The other part of it is that the phone still refuses to go into recovery mode. What is to be done now ?
Is there a way of flashing with Odin a Recovery Mod ? CWM ?
Turn off the phone, pull out the battery for few seconds and after that press in the same time buttons : Power + Volume Up + Home.
Remember IN THE SAME TIME must press all three buttons and wait until you feel a short vibration.

1-Download and install Universal kernel Flasher from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137598
2-Download CoCore E kernel From http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140597
3-Extract kernel.bin.md5 from CoCore zip
4-Use UKF to flash that
Thank you, I followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198341 and all went perfectly.
Now I want to mount external sd card as my phone memory so that all the apps install there (specially the games like nfs, gta ...) What is the easyest way to do that ?
Here the thread with your needs.

Thanks again. I'll try it right away. It could be a problem if I have already an Ext2 and a fat32 partition on my external sd card ?
Please, read carefully that thread for all the explanations.

I have read all the pages, but it dosen't says anything about partitions..It means the memory card should be a normal fat32 partition ?
Sorry, but you must ask in that thread. I don't use that setting and don't know to much about.
I have solved it like this : made a single FAT32 partition. Installed the .zip for change memory, reboot and now my device is showing my 32Gb memory card as internal memory and also installing apps on it. I noticed that some apps or part of them still go in the system partition (not USB storage) cause it fills some of that space too.
