Note: You *MUST* be s-OFF for this to work properly. If you're not, it won't work.
1. Download this zip file: http://www.mediafire.com/?mi4utrhbacdbbxt mirror: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LSR7QG9W
2. Rename it to PB31IMG.zip (uppercase name and lowercase extension matters, make sure it's not .zip.zip also) and push it to the root of your sdcard, so it's /sdcard/PB31IMG.zip
2 1/2. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP (in case you ever want to go back)
3. Reboot into HBOOT by holding vol down while booting up, or by typing "adb reboot oem-42"
4. Hit vol-up when it asks if you want to apply the zip.
5. Wait for it to finish, then reboot when it asks you to.
Congrats, now you're back to stock 2.1-update1 with the original 1.00 radio.
thanks to aiccucs for his work in compiling the stock zip!
Cheers, mate.
just curious but don't you also need to put back the stock recovery back on? and that zip is stock without root, right?

Completely stock without root. Includes stock system, kernel, recovery, radio, and HBOOT as well as a data wipe. The only thing not stock is the fact you're still going to be S-OFF, but that's nothing really to worry about. VZW techs don't really know how to check that .
Doing this will 100% allow you to receive the OTA when Verizon finally releases it right?

good work A++++
I had originally pulled the stock Rom image from the RUU (ran the RUU and snagged the image from the temp folder). I was able to flash back to that but had to do some trickery first pushing some files over to the phone in and then running some commands in ADB. Is this just that same image extracted directly from the stock RUU? Or has this been modified in some way?
I'm assuming it's either been modified to allow flashing without pushing those other two files first, or s-off disables the check that would normally throw a "image you are attempting to flash is older" error.
I thought we could just flash stock recovery and apply the OTA... This route, we lose all our settings and apps, correct?

Can't you just apply the ruu's with the new clockworkmod?

I got the following quote from http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever
"How can I use S-OFF to recover from an unrooted update?
S-OFF gives your device permanent NAND unlock in the booted system, and also disables HBOOT's signature checking on firmware zip files. So, even if you take a OTA that has not been rooted, you can simply flash a new recovery that allows you to install su, and use that to restore yourself to a fully rooted system. We have provided ClockworkMod and Amon-Ra recovery images for you to use for this purpose. "

Yeah, I don't think we need to revert to original hboot/radio/etc... I think we just need stock recovery and a stock rom to get the OTA

I would hope this option is the case because I never updated my radio (still on 1.xx), so if I used the method in this thread wouldn't I risk bricking because I'd be flashing the radio on top of itself?

Also know if your rooted with s-on you cannot flash proper otas because the signature check is there and it want allow you to flash a legit signed ota with clockwork. Also know if you accept the ota you will loose root. And won't be able to gain it back without s-off. I really don't understand why people are so apprehensive. Live a little man. It's just a phone. Not a ferrari. Even though it runs like one.
I've searched and searched and can't find this topic so here goes...
I have the DE and it is rooted. I'd like to install the OTA as I'm still running stock otherwise. Do I have to unroot to get it to install? For fun I tried loading it with CWM and that just locked it up.
Thoughts or threads I've missed?
im curious too :/ the only way i could update was unrooting and for that the only way i could do so, was restoring a backup from CWM, i couldnt falsha RUU or ZIP :/
would be great if some one help us to find out how to unroot (an easier way) or apply OTA even rooted (guess this is not possible :/)

As far as I know, OTA should work fine if you have ONLY rooted and NOT installed any custom recovery. So I believe restoring stock recovery could make your phone receive the OTA. I could be wrong too.

Hmmm then I'm a bit confused, I believe I have stock recovery installed, I haven't done anything other than backup and root. I just tried running the update from the prompt and it sends me to CWM. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what stock recovery is?

D'oh! My bad.
In attempt to get the stock recovery back I've tried the RUU that should be for the 64GB DE edition but it keeps throwing an error. Is Brightstar US WWE RUU 3.4.10 v4.1 1.29.1540.3 the wrong one?

First things first is your phone the developer edition? Sorry to ask a silly question just want to make sure you are not trying to flash the wrong firmware to your phone.
You can find the stock recovery under the development thread and you can flash this with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (in fastboot mode of course)
for a DE, you have to lock its bootloader and then using RUU to get it back to stock, or just fastboot flash the stock recoery image to override your custom recovery, both are working to update OTA according to my test.

I posted this in another section a couple days ago on how I did the OTA with my DE.
Now you do have to push a stock recovery to get it working but then after you load the OTA you can go back and push TWRP or CWM. I then reflashed supersu but not sure if I needed to or not.
You don't need to lock the bootloader on the DE edition.

I don't understand why you'd have to lock a bootloader for a device that came with it unlocked from the factory? Even the ruu from HTC for the DE requires you to lock the bootloader?

Actually I don't understand either, but it is true, I failed several times to use RUU gettting back stock before re-locking my DE, I guess HTC developer does not apply any special code for the DE RUU program, you can have a try if you have a chance to do so.
Dang I already relocated and RUU'd it... Oh well next time.

All,
I decided that I do not want to wait for HTC to roll out the 4.2.2 update on my HTC One Dev and install a custom rom. I really tried to stick with stock because I was sick and tired of constant flashing and just want something that is stable and for work. But my itch is coming back and would just like to get a stable stock like rom ie Android Revolution HD 12. (Opinions for stable and stocklike?)
Anyways, since I have the Dev Edition, just want to make sure I'm doing this right, and have a couple of questions:
Since I'm bootloader unlocked, all I need to do is root, install a custom recovery ie CWM or TWRP, and flash a rom?
What do I do with firmware and radios? I know I should flash these seperately, but can anyone give me advise on which to flash? Again, I have the Dev Edition on At&T network.
Thank you all for any advice you can give me.

There's no real reason to flash either firmware or radio. but Install a recovery, which will root the phone for you, make a nandroid backup and flash to your heart's content.

@vomer posted a detailed guide to achieve Firmware upgrade, S-OFF and other stuff. If you want to go with stock experience, then go with ARHD 12.1.
You need S-OFF to upgrade the firmware (which is recommended). If you have 1.54 HBOOT, you will not gonna be able to flash a custom firmware and you will have to use the full firmware package which I'm not sure if Vomer included in his guide, but you can always look for Mike's firmware compilation topic

This is a little off.
If you have 1.54 hboot, you are already on the most recent firmware. But because of that, you can't s-off and flash future firmware updates. You're limited to flashing custom roms at the moment.
How can I tell what version of hboot I'm on?

To know this, all you need to do is go to the bootloader. As your bootloader is already unlocked, I will assume you know how to get here...
Anyway, you can just reboot the device while keeping the Vol Down key pressed and you will enter bootloader.
Hi guys...
So I've been searching for a fix for my google play edition htc one... I'm currently on stock 4.2.2, I unlocked the bootloader, installed CWM, rooted the device, installed a custom kernel. Everything was perfectly fine until I wanted to install 4.3 on my phone. I never flashed anything but the kernel to this phone. (since I knew cm10.2 would need time to get massaged) I am having problem flashing any rom onto my phone.
I got the OTA, I tried installing that, and in the middle of the install, the android icon goes from the blue swirl to the android lying down dead.
I tried uninstalling the kernel... no good. I reflashed the stock 4.2.2 recovery, no luck. I tried to RUU the phone (after relocking the device), and it fails with the message (remote: 12 signature verify fail). I get the same error w/ the 4.2.2 and 4.3 RUU... (both from the conversion to google edition thread)
I gave up on going w/ stock after trying several times. I downloaded the cm10.2 official nightly for the m7ul, transferred the zip file, and installed it thru CWM but I get the "Status 7" error that says "assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == m7 II etc. etc. I checked my build.prop and my ro.product.device is set to m7.... just like how it is supposed to be....
Is there anything I'm doing wrong here? Do you guys have any idea why I am unable to flash anything?? Any kind of help is appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Install twrp or cwm again. Install nammit94's stock 4.2.2 rom. Put stock recovery back. Software update should install 4.3 then. The ruu won't work to restore you because it's a user made unsigned package and only works on s-off devices. Just installing stock kernel probably failed because there are non stock modules left over in /system nammit94's rom should set things right

There is no ruu for an s-on htc one Google edition. You have to be very careful. Make a nandroid.

You need to follow the instructions in that thread
Unlock boot loader
Flash recovery in fastboot from PC using adb with fastboot commands
Make a nandroid/backup of your stock rom
Place the SuperSu.zip on your sdcard and flash in recovery to obtain root. If you want root on stock ROM or you can just simply flash the BadBoys ROM it already comes Rooted.
Just read the OP of threads and educate yourself on what you are doing. You can learn a lot by simply taking time to read thru things thoroughly. Maybe read the same things more than once to completely understand what you are doing.
As far as the BB ROM you are already on the HK firmware. You might wanna look into obtaining Soff it makes things easier on this phone

All Roms are free the only thing that cost is the S-off tool which is sunshine.
Put it this way since you are S-on you basically have to take the official OTA all the way up to 4.4.4 cause you are on 4.4.2.
If you want to flash any ROM that is based on a version other than what you are currently on you will have issues.
For example you are on 4.4.2 and have the firmware that comes with that version. Every time we receive an update on our phones are H-boot, recovery and firmware are also flashed with an ota. The only way to upgrade your firmware being S-on is to basically put stick recovery back and be 100% stick than take ota
S-OFF allows you to by pass the crappy part having to take the entire OTA. With S-Off you can flash just the firmware and or HBoot/recovery without taking the ota.
In order to run the newer Roms that are 4.4.4 you have to no if and or buts most definitely have to be on the firmware that is for 4.4.4 and also it is recommended to update your Hboot along the way cause if you aren't in the latest firmware you will have issues like no WiFi and long as hell boot times so if I was you I would S-off for 25$ before I even went past 4.4.2

Alright, that's done. Now I'm just having trouble deciding what ROM I want to use. I like a minimalist look, but nothing too barebones, and I'd definitely like bloatware to be gone. (or at least know the proper way to uninstall it)

Well that's entirely up to you. Just read the op and see what the ROM is all about. Flash it if its not your cup of tea than you can restore your backup and keep looking.

Ended up getting Digitalhigh's GPE 5.0 ROM. I wasn't able to backup before I flashed the ROM though, because I did a factory wipe of all data in TWRP, and lost my backup with that. But I was able to flash the ROM succesfully, and it's running great. If I wanted to revert back to Stock ROM how would I go about doing that? Also, what about going to different Custom ROMs? And last question. Where's the best place to find some cool apps. I'd really like a one where I can download movies/tv shows if possible.
Also, thanks a million times. I think I've got the jist of things now, and feel pretty confident venturing on my own. I really appreciate everyone being patient with me.
