I am running 11-20140803-Nightly-hummingbird & wallpaper disappears after going from Portrait to landscape mode & the only way to setup the wallpaper I have to reboot.
Every once in awhile I will get a System UI stopped message too.
After the wallpaper disappears system seems to really lag.
I figured maybe my system was getting all junked up due to so many updates I have done since 10.1 days, so I did a system reset with CWM & figured I would start over.
After installing the nightly mentioned above & gapps rebooted & noticed all the folders were still there from before, do these not get wiped when doing a system reset?
Any suggestions on what to do with the issue I am having & how do you completely wipe the system to start over?
This is getting a bit frustrating.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated
Thank you
You don't really want to completely wipe everything - do not wipe emmc internal storage. Only data, dalvic, cache is necessary.
Don't know what folders your referring to. Folders on internal storage will stay. Any other folders in the rom sections that were wiped will be repopulated upon flashing a rom.
The wallpaper issue sounds like a bug in cm. Try the m9 build. I use m9 and have not seen that problem, not with m9 and not with m8.
I have no idea what you install on it, but it could also be an app your installing that is breaking things.
Anytime you want to start fresh do a full recovery backup in the recovery so you can go right back to exactly how you had it if a new rom install doesn't fix your problem instead of wasting time.
Problem solved
It appears it was due to newest beta of Apex Pro that I was using. I installed one of my backups of Apex through Titanium Pro just to see if that was the issue & by golly I think it was.
Seemed like every time I would rotate my screen the wallpaper went Poof!
Solution for wallpaper issue
Especially this problem is found in cm11 snapshot M9 M10etc. But M11 has no issues. I am using m11 since its realse and absulotely no wallpaper issue has been encountered. If you are using 3 party launcher to set wallpaper the it is my request to use default system wallpaper tool to change wallpaper. And thats it.

Whenever I flash my phone with a custom kernel, be it YAOK; SpeedMod; Voodoo; Z4Mod etc. I *always* run into the same problem within the space of a few reboots / few hours of use (sometimes with only 2 reboots)
Essentially, the bug is that newly installed applications will NOT show up in TWLauncher. They're installed and work, but they have no icon. If I FC TWLauncher, kill it's data, or reboot, their icons show up. It's as though TWLauncher "can't be bothered" to re-scan installed apps when a new one gets added. (this seems to happen more with over 8 pages of apps; although there will be some spaces on page 2, 3 etc.)
This behaviour has previously been noted in both the modded versions of TWLauncher available on this site. I haven't tried this with ADW or LauncherPro as I don't like them as much.
I've now gone back to a completely stock kernel and merely rooted it (no lagfix) - so I'm waiting to see if this behaviour returns.
The ONLY thing I think may have possibly been causing this is either the Spare Parts application, or Samsung's new email / IM application. I've not restored those on this particular reset to see what happens.
I've tried everything I can think of to narrow down what's causing this, including NOT restoring any data from backups and instead downloading all my apps individually (there's currently 61 apps installed on my phone, in addition to the bundled ones)
............
Now, before you all ask / comment:
Each and Every time this happens, I have been reformatting both the internal AND external SD cards; then doing a complete flash in Odin, using the 502 PIT file. Firmware is stock XWJPO (with JPP modem).
Is no one else suffering from this at all?
hi, i looked through a couple of forums but didnt find an answer to my problem:
its about adw launcher ex and normal (non ex) version .. same problem:
all settings are set back automaticaly sometimes..
after reboot every time
and sometimes when i go back to home screen..
every time the changelog window appears and everyting is set back..
i also cannot do a backup of adw settings (within adw settings) .. i always get an error... dont know if it has got something to do with it .
im currently on darkys rom v9.3 beta 1 .. dont know if it is an issue with the beta... but i saw nobody else with this bug.. so im not sure
thanks for ur help
greetings
exaptor
hey, i had similar trouble but with ZEAM, what i did was go into root explorer and go into dbdata and delete the one that contains 'adwlauncher' or in my case it was 'zeamlauncher' then that fixed it for me
already tried ... didnt fix it ..
zeam works perfectly .. but i want adw back
have you cleared data under settings >> applications >> adw launcher ??
or you could wipe the cache / dalvik cache in recovery.. or try uninstalling and re installing
tried everything
tried:
reinstall
delete dbdata
deleted cache
changed everything within adw settings.
zeam and launcher pro works fine.
It's possible that your current custom rom is the culprit. better ask the chef or email ADW.
I'm also using ADW Ex and never had a problem with it.
guess i got it to work:
mailed the developer this morning, finally got an answer:It's a known issue with some 2.2.x roms for Samsung Galaxy S devices, you may need to completely uninstall the app, remove all the app's data from your system (searching org.adwfreak.launcher inside /data or whatever partition the rom use as internal storage) and then install again without backups.
i just deleted dbdatabase / adw ,,,, had to delete everything with adw
jea, works fine now
close pls
This has been happening for awhile and I know it happens to others. I believe it only happens when my phone is rooted (always happened if I kept my sdcard in while rooting).
Ive running offical froyo 2.2 rooted. Basically all my photos and videos (external sd) thumbnails become duplicated or even more. Theres still only 1 real image but gallery will display x3x4x5 of the same thumbnail. Does anyone know a permanent fix to this? Only way I've been able to resolve it is by deleting the thumbnail folders via my pc.
go to
settings
applications
manage applications, then touch "All" at the top of page.
scroll to Media storage and touch it
clear data and force close (clear cache may help too but I never had to do cache for this fix to work)
then reboot.
It should solve the problem.
or install SGS TOOLS from the market and apply the script ^clear_thumb_db.txt^
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Not work for me
Ressurection remix 2.1 on SGS2,when setup mms configuration and send mms, images duplicate in gallery ,cear data ,force close and reboot but problem not solved.
Any other solution?
PS. sorry for my bad english and thanks for answer
Hi. I am using the official CyanogenMod ROM for SGA. What happened is that I installed its first nightly build, uninstalled the live wallpapers and the live wallpaper picker. Then went to install the updates that followed.
However, I've noticed that the said apps that I uninstalled before were still uninstalled after the updates. And while reinstalling them was a success, they didn't work. Choosing one of the live wallpapers will do a force close.
I know this is not a big deal. But I want to know why that's happening.
Also, another question. I'm using S2E. Is there a way to move certain apps (like handcent, go launcher ex, etc) back in the REAL internal memory while retaining the other apps in sd-ext? Thank you.

Yeah you can move appz to phone memory. Launchers, widgets are must to keep in phone memory. Otherwise they'll not work. Try moving them in manage appz option in settings then move to phone

use link2sd bro... it works as an app .. so u can easily manage apps just choose the app from where u installed and move it to sd then phone memory ....
believe me really really easy.... and does the same works as s2e.... rather s2e will slow ur ROM in long process but link2sd won't .. just click on clear cache easy
With the Cyanogenmod problem, try flashing the version your on again without any wipes.

plus i think u need to manually put the live wall paper apk in system apk by root broser..and then set permission to rw-r-r
Hey, thanks for all the replies. Sorry it's just now. I found out that live wallpapers were working only in the first nightly release of the said ROM, then it was removed on the succeeding ones.
I've tried Link2SD. Well I had a problem with it. One time after reboot, the partition didn't get recognized, thus I had to reinstall everything. I'm sticking with S2E for now. Thanks people.
After updating to MIUI 12.5.2(RJOINXM) system launcher sometime refreshes(crashes) when I go back to homescreen or launch an application(in this case, call of duty:mobile) which require high resources which results in changing of wallpaperback to stock one i.e., the snowy mountain one. Is this a known bug? Are there any known fixes?
I have tried installing new system launcher versions, uninstalling security app and system launcher app updates, turning memory extension on and off, clearing cache of various apps. I don't want to factory reset or go to a previous miui version, because it's gonna be a hassle to redownload everything but if there's no other fix I am open to it.
EDIT: Factory Reset fixed the problem.
