I have it on auto, and it takes a good 5 seconds or more to take the photo. There is a blue circle that goes round and round, and it says "hold phone still to get the photo"...then after five or more seconds, it takes the picture with mixed results.
I thought it was HDR on, but I checked and it's off.

Am I doing something wrong? My Galaxy Nexus was instant on auto, my Nokia 1520 was instant on auto....so I assume it must be something I am missing. This phone has GOT to be beyond brilliant when it comes to the camera....16 mega pixels and all.
Any tips or tricks?
I'm having the same issue if anyone knows a way to have the camera take a picture quicker that would be great.
The fix for me it was easy. I have turned off the picture stabilization and no more circle spinning

Has anyone had a problem using sequence shot? Anytime I try to use it on Zoe it says "Unable to continue because there are not enough images to process" or it'll say "unable to continue because there is a problem with the selected image"
Is there some trick to make this work?

Use Burst shots... Hold the camera button down and take a series of pictures the open the containing folder of the grouped shots, hit menu and select from the options in there.
Also I think it can detect if there is an object that can actually pull off the effect as well.. If it notices the same frame for all of the shots it obviously can not stich together the object in the frame

theres a video..did you originally try it this way?
http://youtu.be/3g1zOzyBqdA
I tried almost exactly how it's done in that video and it still says there are not images to process. I tried burst mode and it says there's a problem with the selected image. I'm starting to think I might have a defective phone...
I had problems with it at first using zoe mode. You have to time it right and the framing part as mentioned above is correct. The way I got it was frame the shot, and have the subject move into frame then start capturing. Don't move the camera when shooting either.

Thanks, that seemed to work a couple times. I'll have to play with it a little more to see if I can get it to be more consistent
It's going to be one of those features that you will get lucky in Zoe from time to time or specifically know that you want to make a sequence shot and take the photos accordingly.

Was at a Verizon store yesterday played with the X, very nice device, one thing I couldn't locate/figure out, nor could the rep....
how do you change pic/video mp size before taking the pic/video?
Are all the pics taken in 10mp size (or a different default size), or can that be adjusted?
If so, where can Those settings be found?
The standard settings section had the basics, HDR, flash, Geo, tap to focus, slo mo, gesture etc. I just couldn't locate where to change the size of pics and video.
(Btw the X's they had at store were not on kit kat, so I know camera wasn't on latest firmware)
Anyone know?

The settings you found in the app are the only settings there are. They REALLY dumbed down the camera app. I hate how little you can control on it.
I'm coming from a 2.5+ year HTC Thunderbolt, and the Moto X is a real neat device.
But I think it's the only phone I know of that you can't preset the size pic/video you'd like.
Kind of strange, considering past dumb phones I had could do this.
Taking pics and video in the highest mp will definitely fill up the phone's memory fast.
Maybe future firmware will allow this, who knows.

I was a little peeved when I found out the picture/video size couldn't be adjusted. I told myself I didn't need all that crap from the S3 so I got the MotoX and then turned out that one small thing would drive me nuts.
Just go find an app in the market. Camera+ is one

That may be a possible solution... but this seems an absolutely silly omission from the stock camera app (especially the video).

Problem is, will 3rd party camera app launch with wrist flick, plus the tap to take pic and keep finger down for multiple is nice, as well as taking pics while recording a video, I don't think these features will work with a 3rp party app.
Motorola X exterior is customizable, they built a whole website for that customizable part, can even add a name to boot, but customize a photo before taking it, oh boy.
And I completely understand they wanted to create a phone that just works for the average Joe, but at the least they could have had maybe a 5mp and 2mp preset under the default 10mp. They can still keep white balance etc.
Plus I think camera would be even faster taking 2mp pics (not that it has to be).
Like mentioned, maybe they'll pick up on this and change in future firmware (which is at least possible to do).

In trying to find a camera app the automatically puts the date of the picture in the photo.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Galaxy Note 3 "The Beast"
I have tried this one. It will bring up a preview after you take the picture and you can chose to put the time stamp. Not sure if there is any that automatically put one there. The default camera app has the date of the picture but doesn't stamp it.
Check out "StampPhoto"

I've been meaning to root my gs5 but I'm wondering if there's any camera mods. Aside from debloating, increased camera performance is really all I need (it usually takes me about 3-5 tries to get a non blurry picture) but I'm worried that once I'm rooted, I can't complain to att and get a new s5 since it might be a hardware problem
Tl;dr anyone found a good camera mod or know someone who is working on one?

i opened a thread about this and have still yet to find a solution... i might have to go back to using a 3rd party app.. CameraZoom+ worked pretty decent for me on my previous s4 and note3.
i have noticed that turning on "Tap to take pic." and tapping the screen to capture the photo has been working decent.

I noticed the tap to take pics does help a bit but that's very strange. Could this be a hardware problem?

possibly.. i noticed that when the camera snaps the pic and it flashes the white boarders.. that particular moment doesnt seem to be the actual moment that the photo is taken.. so maybe when the screen flashes, we think the photo is taken and move our hands out of instinct ?

nexus camera....meh
Though the nexus camera works great on the nexus line I've noticed on my so when I use it to capture something that is moving like my child there is a delay in capture...the screen will flash with what I thought I got but when I look at the picture it will be a delayed shot often missing what I wanted. The Samsung camera is not alol that bad.

Yeh I don't get it either, I never take blurry photos. See so many complaints on here and other forums and no clue why, my friends S5 doesn't take blurry pics either. I only turned off pic stabilization. I just make sure the the image is in focus before shooting.
Has everyone removed the factory plastic off the lens?
Going in and out of gallery from the camera app is slow. Is it just me?

Only takes about a second for me. Only got about a few hundred pictures I think.
I have 405 pictures on my external SD card, plus probably around 100 or so on the internal.
Took me about 5 Seconds.

The photos app opens your online photos location by default. They may be uploading. Have you tried selecting Device Folders from the menu when you open Photos?
