Kindly, update your firmware to 14.4.A.0.108 via OTA. Or update from Sony PC Companion.

[Q] HTC One and blurry skype video calls

Hi guys,
Is it just me or you also noticed, that video calls coming from the rear/front camera area really blurry? Those are ridiculously blurry on 3g and still very blurry on Wifi.
It seems, like the image is completely out of focus and focusing does not work at all on the camera in skype?
Has anyone have sharp video coming on skype video calls from their rear/front camera?

+1 same issue no solution
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I was gonna post about this as well. For a 2mp front camera (which is what lots and lots of standard laptops come with), the video call quality is atrocious!

It must be 4.2.2 firmware or something because after searching the HTC One forum I see others are having the same problem on other roms, I can't receive a call on Skype without it force closing on me it's very frustrating because I use Skype a lot.

Ok, months have passed and we have a new version of Skype, which is 4.4 and... Rear camera is still blurry, in video chats...
Front camera is sharp and beautiful, though.
Anyone else having the same problem?
I had a test video call from HTC One to my friends PC, and then from Lumia 920 to the same PC.
Voice on HTC One was great and video blurry, while on Lumia 920 the video was sharp and beautiful, while sound came out "tinny" and silent.
If only this issue was resolved...

Yeah mate I have exactly the same issue & it's driving me crazy. I have to switch to the front facing camera to get a clear picture, which is balls since I spend a lot to time showing stuff to people on Skype and flipping the phone over means I can't see what the hell they see. I was hoping the stock 4.3 update would fix the issue...nope still super blurry.
I seriously can't believe so few have noticed the issue...unless it's just us...
I have both n5 and htc one. Skype is always blurry here. Use it at home, on wifi. Wifi is good speed. Hangouts video calls blurry as well. Such a bummer.
Same issue here I was hoping for an update but nothing solves this problem. On top of that when you try to leave a video message the picture from both cameras comes out distorted.

Camera/Video Recording Problem (well it might be a problem)

I have an Xperia Z and my finance also has a Xperia Z.
My phone is on the latest PacRom (KITKAT) and the 2nd one is running the latest stock (JELLY BEAN).
I was taking some pictures and videos and notice the quality to be quite 'low' where as her pictures and video quality where quite high.
The video audio quality seems 'muffled' on my phone and again, on hers, very clear.
Is this a problem anyone else has found using this rom? Or is it just me? I don't take that many pictures but I would like them to be of decent quality when i take them.
Thought id add this in:
The settings in the camera are all set to high so its not a setting issue
Thanks for your help.

[Q] Xperia Z : Photo Flash and Earpiece Problem

Hello,
I am facing the following problems with my Xperia Z
1. As reported at other numerous sites for Z1, in my can I am having the symptoms with Xperia Z of flash bleeding and over exposed pictures with a purple or bluish tinge and frame covering a grainy image even in normal light , not necessarily low light situations. I have tried it with superior auto and manual modes with various flash settings and it does not seem to resolve.
Is it a manufacturing defect which cannot be corrected with software adjustments, if so then I night consider selling it for something else in the xperia series. But I have heard that the same problem is there with Xperiz Z Ultra and Z1/2 , is it so.
2. The earpiece sometimes loses audio during the call, it can happen randomly. Starts working again randomly after sometime or disconnecting and redialing the call. Apparently it does not seem like a hardware issue, cause it does not work even when i press or tap around the earpiece area. Again i have seen this on sony forums and some suggest it is due to the latest ROM update, I dont know for sure whether it is and what is the solution for it.
I am running stock (non-rooted) 4.3.x as per the latest Sony official update.
It would be really nice if someone can please help me out to sort the reported issues, which I am sure a lot of other users would be plagued with.
Thanks.

[Q] Clicking noise when using zoom on camera, poor sound on call

I get a clicking noise when using the zoom function on the camera, when I play back a video you can hear the click every time you zoom in or out, bloody annoying and really loud. I had a xperia mini pro that did the same and never even thought of trying the video mode on the Z3 till recently, ( had the phone 4 weeks). I also get very low sound when receiving a phone call, bit disappointing. has anyone else noticed these issues?

About the clicking noise, I think you're just hearing the focusing mechanism.

Yes I think you're right it could be the focusing mechanism, re when I had the xperia mini I'm fairly sure they released a patch or update which fixed it to some extent. Thanks for the advice :good:

Camera quality tips & tricks?

Hey hey people.
I got xperia Z3c few days ago, I had abrupt end to my Xperia Z's life and had to replace it with something. I am enjoying the phone feature and size wise, I really wondered where is the neck for smaller powerful phones in android marketplace. That about me and that about "I am really more or less glad with this phone"
But the same problem persists with the camera, it's quality is good only outside, and indoors the quality is worse the darker it is. I take ONLY inside photos if I ever do take photos. So I see a lot of grain and stuff with photos I get.
I am not sure if there is a thread for this but basically; tips/tricks for improving the camera quality.
Personally i want sharper and less noisy photos with low light, light bulb illuminated spaces. if there is any tricks to improving this just slightly even, I would be thankful. Camera is really the only gripe I have with the phone and I really do not take that much photos with it anyway, but whenever I do I want to get the best possible.

Try different camera apps and take with your time to play with the settings. When I take a picture and I have the time, I just take the picture multiple times, but with different settings each time.
You can't use AUTO mode when shooting if you want to improve the photo quality indoors. It automatically boosts the ISO too high and produces grainy, over-exposed photos. You'll have to manually adjust the ISO and exposure in Manual Mode. Play with it until you find the right combination that works for you.

On my old phone, a Sony Xperia P i have very good quality indoors and outdoors with auto-mode, this is on Honomi MW v8 (Z1 apps) and , with my new Z3c the indoor colors are grossly saturated in comparison to the more accurate older phone.
(i haven't tested it outdoors yet).
This is really annoying.
Hey, if you have root and Xposed you can get an xposed module called "20MP superior auto" this enables taking photos in 20MP and 15MP while in auto mode. If you are on lollipop with root you can get this UNLOCKED CAMERA, which does the exact same thing but only for lollipop
Do you think that could correct my saturation issue?. I dunno.
Did you unlock your bootloader by any chance? The proprietary algorithm is lost when you do that and it could bring about a loss of indoor photo quality.

I'm not so sure that resolution is the problem. The phone's processing algorithm simply over-sharpens the image by boosting the ISO to the point where the photo looks grainy and lacks detail.
I've tried 3rd party apps and they have given me even worse results, though not necessarily in the same way. In my experience, the stock app has performed just a little better indoors than the 3rd-party apps I've tried.
