Hi all, I was looking at a review of the HD2, and I like how at the bottom the icons are 2x2 not 1x1. Do you see what I mean? android is so customisable, this must be possible, right?

It should be, I would ask @anderwebs how he made it so you can change the size of widgets. It should be similar to make the icon sizes customizable, not sure though.
My recent go round designing new docks and icons for LP made me realize I was just going off sizes other people were doing, and I had no clue the actual dimensions LP used for both icons and dock sizes. This made it harder to come up with interesting new concept docks/icons.
So i made a small little set of images to get a clear cut look at how LP handles these little enhancements we make. My result is attached down below.
Now this is nice for my phone, but I know (having made quite a few wallpapers for various android devices) there is not just one screen size. Now I don't know if LP uses a fixed size, or if its relative based on screen size.
I sent a message to Federico, and hope he will enlighten me a bit further, but until then I was hoping some of you would download the attached zip, and set the wallpaper, dock bg, and icons to your home screen. Take a screenshot and upload it here! This will give me an idea of how it works and what difference, if any, screen size makes on dimensions.
Unless someone out there has the needed info, then this long post was pointless
TL;DR - Download the zip, set the wall, icon, & dock; screenshot; report back, if you would good sir/madam

Awesome! Thanks for the quick work.
As expected (our phones have same resolution) they match up perfectly. Now we need to get someone with an odd resolution to give it a shot. I can do it on an Aria tonight (mine but my sister uses it).
Keep 'em coming!!
HTC Droid Incredible
I've made quiet a few docks for both dinc, og droid, and droid x and all have worked with a 480x84 demension as far as icons i've heard told that the 74x74 works the best (according to other members on the launcherpro.com forums)

Ahh so the plot thickens. The Icons are down to 60x60, but the dock is the same size. Interesting indeed. I kinda wish LP was open source just so I could figure this out
Thanks for the help

And those are the sizes I started working with. But already we have found that on two devices the icons display at 62x62 and the dock at 480x85 and on one the dock displays correctly at 480x84 but the icons drop down to 60x60.
I'm no java developer, but I know enough to guess its either a set size, or a relative based on certain dimensions. I also hope to talk with Fede about maybe increasing the icon size a bit. I got some interesting designs in mind but would require a bit more flexibility.
And as I said, this is just an experiment to see how in the real world LP works on our devices.
Hey all,
Recently saw the thread about peoples home screens and saw some really nice ones.
I have a question though about launcher pro and I can't find any tutorials or solutions for it online.
In short when using launcher pro it gives you a default of 5 shortcuts on the dock for each screen (maximum of 7 screens I think)
I've seen some setups where people have replaced the shortcut image with a word (ie messages, phone, internet)
I want to do this but everytime I try to change the image for a word it shrinks it down to a set size to fit in with the 4 other shortcuts on the dock, I'd like to do it so the word takes up the space of two shortcuts.
Basically I want it to look like the dock at the bottom of this one:
img40.imageshack.us/img40/3710/snap20100911025522.png
(sorry couldn't make it a link and post)
Or at least similar, does anyone know how to do this? I'm using Launcher pro, would I need Launcher pro plus?
Thanks!

You don't need launcherpro plus but what you do need is that exact launch bar or you need to make one yourself. The way that look was achieved is that there are no actual visible icons on that bar, instead they made a .png of a bar with the text where they wanted the icons to be and then used transparent icons to actually place the shortcuts. I believe SonnySekhon has a bunch of docks like that in his theme thread and you can pick and choose one. If you can't find a transparent icon, I'll post one later but I'm getting ready to leave in a few minutes so I can't do it now.

Here is a little something special from me, i think it will help you in re-creating that home screen, its an invisible icon. Just run your mouse over it to see exactly where the pic is. Its hard to see cause its invisible . Plus a drawer icon incase you want it.
I really like it, nice look.

BW works great already. The full screen home and weather widget is beautiful. Makes me confident this could be even better.
Looks like their site or twitter is having server issues. I will be trying again soon.

it doesnt work that great.. on stock it stretches across the whole screen and clock looks like #$#$#
on vegan.. you can resize and it is somewhat better but still not great.
Hmm. I guess Im not as picky. I really thought it did an excellent job and looks good. The whether animations even look great.
link working again.. think it was just heavily hit
It works great in landscape, but in portrait, resizing looks weird.
Works great for me. It always has. I saved the apk from HTC Evo and have been using it for a while now. Does what i want it to do so im satisfied

installed this, I don't really see much of a difference between this tablet optimized version and the one from market,

Wow...how did you get the big weather icons. For some reason all the weather widgets show real small weather icons. How do I fix it so it shows up bigger? Thx
I use the Beautiful Home Weather widget (not the one with Smaller). It will initially stretch wider, but with LP, you press and hold the widget and a resizing outline will appear. I sized it to fit in that corner. I'm using the standard skin with Hide Background checked.

I'm new to Widgets. Are you adding the Clock, Date and Weather widgets separately?
No, if you purchase Beautiful Widgets, there is a single widget (though there are several widgets included with your purchase) called Beautiful Home Weather that contains all 3 of those things in your list of widgets. There are some free alternatives people can point you to, but I prefer BW.

I'm guessing that's not included with this free beta version. When I try to choose the Beautiful Home Weather Widget, it just goes to the settings.
Stock Style Beautiful Widgets Super Clock Skin I made, should be able to get it through the app soon.
Unzip and place in sdcard/data/beautifulwidgets/scskins
Enjoy.
Nice work, keeping with the theme I like it.

Beautiful Widgets: HTC Sense UI Skin
Woah nice job! I would totally use this, although lately I've been running without the superclock, due to the fact that there's already a clock on the lock screen and the top right corner. But wow, you don't see alot of skins of this quality within the BW app! Nice!
One thing I've been looking for is a superclock skin with the same font as the D3 lock screen. My fave font! Modern and simple.

Not bad, are the skins hard to make? I've been thinking about making my own BW Skins and Themes. Just don't know if I have the patience to bust out Photoshop working so much.

It pretty much depends on what you are doing, this took me about 3 hours because of the level of detail involved, I took the system dump, extracted the apk files until i found the .9.png that was used for the widget backgrounds, and i copied every single line and gradient down the pixel, so that takes a while. But many of my others where fairly simple. It also depends on your level of skill with Photoshop and you knowledge of the tools, I've been using Photoshop for many years, so I'm very familiar with it.
Plus loading it on the phone every time you make a small change can be a little annoying at times...

I'll give it a try eventually, lol.. I've got 6 years experience as a freelance designer and developer. I've just gotten to the point where if it isn't making me money I don't like to open up the programs.
This is now available to download from the application! I have also created a gingerblur toggle skin to match, which is also available! Enjoy!
Thank you so much for the skin. It looks great!
1 question though. My weather skin is still in stock and doesn't look like the one you are posting.
Would you mind posting your weather skin as well?
Thanks!
