Hello, everyone. I am looking to root my kindle fire HD 7" 2013 version 11.3.2.4, and was wondering if versions matter and if someone could link some good rooting download tools, along with an ADB.
I'd be really interested in this as well. I have the same kindle and firmware. Haven't been able to root.

Update.
It can be done, but you need kindle suite and a fastboot cable.
Order a fastboot cable from eBay.
Go to the kfsowi community's g+ page and download kindle suite.
It can root the 2013 kindle fire hd with that firmware.
I'll report back when my fastboot cable arrives.

Hi Guys
Have received my Kindle HD 7" today. unfortunately I can't root it. I have watched all tutorials on YT and have read many threads on XDA but still can't find a solution how to root my kindl :s
Short info:
- System version 7.3.1
- Wifi disabled
- adb installed
- Android drivers installed (Android composite ADB interface)
- Allow installation of applications is "ON"
Tryin' to run "RunMe" but it isn't working as shown in the video.
I have some little experience in rooting devices, have rooted my HTC's several times but this seems to be a bit difficult than I thought.
Maybe it's because I'm using windows on bootcamp. Have to wait till my brother will go to sleep so I can get his laptop or maybe because my english is crap and I don't understand some parts.
If it's possible to root 7.3.1 - please explain HOW
Thanks in advance!
Here is my video:

Thanks! This helped me out greatly
As a note: sometimes the device is finicky when doing some of the auto installs. Its a good idea to check in cmd prompt that your PC sees your abd device after each reboot. Mine didn't after each step and I had to unplug-replug to get it see it again.

Hello!
I just rooted my Kindle Fire HD and it is running 7.4.6 with the google apps. What is the risk of bricking if I go through with the tutorial of installing the second boot loader and TWRP?

It depends. As long as you read the directions to the letter, and re-read them to make sure you know what you're doing, it'll be fine. I've done this twice now, with no bricks. I've only needed a fastboot cable once in the year I've owned my Kindle, and it was to fix a product of my own stupidity. So just follow the directions, and everything will be okay

This is the guide I use to install TWRP. It makes use of an app called "FireFlash.apk."

You want to downgrade to 7.2.3 first to reduce the chance of a soft brick. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848

Then you got lucky. That's why all these bootloops. 7.3.0 Amazon patched the exploit. In every thread about 2nd bootloader it mentions downgrading first.

You can use fire flash method all you want but if you don't downgrade your boot loader first you risk bootlooping.

Wait.... now I am confused. FireFlash provides a built in button to downgrade the bootloader. Do I need to downgrade fully to 7.2.3 or just the bootloader?

Just the bootloader. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Just the boot loader, however it will boot loop if you don't downgrade the os, sostick the ROM on before hand to avoid having to push it onto the device later on if you aren't downgrading the os as well.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire HD running CM10.1 Tablet UI using xda-developers app
The bootloader must match the stock Amazon firmware to flash properly and the bootloader needs to be 7.3.0 or 7.23 for the exploit to work. I can't even imagine trying to work out the exploit on the new HDX's

Okay, I'm downgrading to 7.2.3. Is there a guide on that? Also, will the kindle brick when I install 7.2.3 and the bootloader is 7.4.6?
One other thing I'd recommend doing, is buy a factory cable should anything go wrong. It has saved me from quite a few scary moments

You should get a fastboot cord first. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2347170 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909
I would use the first link. All 3 links are good though. Read number two links before modding though.

This tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638452
says: Install TWRP and then install FFF using TWRP.
The TWRP website says:
teamw.
in/project/twrp2/79
(with less then 10 posts i can not add urls, so please combine the above lines to get the full URL)
install FFF first before installing TWRP ("You must install the Fire Fire Fire utility before installing TWRP 2.2.0")
What is wrong?
Or does the TWRP sentence only apply for 2.2.0 and not for the most up-to-date version (2.7.0.1)?

No worries, just don't use the wrong firmware, you could brick your device.

Tate = 2012
Soho = 2013
So, my Kindle is a 2013 version = Soho
My kindle is the one without a camera, most IT articles call it "2nd edition" or "2013 version".
As i read some posts in this forum i get the impression that there is a 1st (original), 2nd (tate) and a 3rd (soho) edition. What is right?

OK so it is a 2013 kfhd, so this device has no custom ROMs or ability to have a second bootloader installed, you only can have stock rooted.

I didn't see many threads on this here... I just got a Fire 10" with FireOS 5.1.1. I want to put google apps on it and such... I have this on my HD 7 5th gen (the one that's 49.99 atm) and I used the rootjunky method... This link: http://www.rootjunky.com/amazon-fire-5th-gen-supertool/ - or something similar from them..
I am curious if that will also work on the 10 inch version?
Or if anyone has any suggestions for getting google apps on the 10 inch, rooting it.. etc. I don't want to change the launcher, or put twrp/cm/etc on it.
