Someone know if I can or how to disable the music control card on the watch? It's covering info on my endomondo widget and the music control card is useless since I can skip/pause from my earphone buttons....
Thanks

Have you tried adding the music app to the 'Mute app notifications' settings in wear app on phone

Yes I tried but it is not working
True. No luck here
OK I have found a way to kinda do what I want but I find it really annoying that I cannot dismiss the music control card or better just disable it.
So my work around is to copy and paste my songs I want to listen in a folder and play them with ES File Explorer. This app is probably not recognized as a music player so I can do my workout with no card covering half my stats.

I have all my music on a microSDXC card in my phone, as well as uploaded to Google Play Music's "cloud". But when I try to play music from Google Play Music through my Chromecast, it insists on trying to use my local music and thus gives me the "can't play sideloaded music" error. Is there any way to force the Music app to look only at the cloud as the source for music? The only source options I see are "All Music' or "On device".
If you remove the side loaded music, then pin the music using the play music app, it should stream correctly and you would still have the music on your device for offline use.

Thanks for the idea. I didn't know about pinning. But it looks like this downloads the music from the cloud source, which I really don't want to do, since I have it organized on my microSDXC card already.

This won't work in my case. The music player I use most the time is one I wrote and it depends on getting album metadata from the Android media database, so I can't put the ".nomedia" files in my music directories, since the Android media database metadata harvester would not find it.
I'd like to be able to keep Google Music for cloud content only as well.
I want to use a third party app for local media files though.
Is there anyway to either
1) Restrict Google Music to scanning only a certain folder
or
2) Have Google Music display cloud content only

try adding .nomedia to the local music folder to preve GMusic scanning the folder (need to run media scanner process after this).
then force your local music app (e.g. poweramp) to scan that folder with your local music - hopefully it ignores the .nomedia flag

I used the .nomedia for Google Music then use PowerAMP for my local music. You may just have to compromise one way or another.

Yes, I tried doing that but I was using PlayerPro, which does not ignore .nomedia files.
I've been using PowerAmp, and it works great. It lets you select your music directory and ignores .nomedia. Rocket Player also ignores .nomedia, I just didn't like the interface.
I still wish I could use PlayerPro, though. Google definitely should've added an option to restrict its scanner.

It gets annoying unmounting and then rescanning the SD card every time you want to use Chromecast. Wouldn't you agree?
First, sorry for my english...
Using Media Controller to listen to music, I'm looking for a way for the change of song (next song, previous, pause...), a notification will be sent to the gear and it shows multimedia control to let use media controlls.
I tried with music popup app that show a notification on the screen of the pone instead the phone is with the screen off and combination with ATN Manager (the application of our colleague sepiroth887 enable it to send notifications to the gear) but does not work.
Anybody thinks of a way to do it?
Thanks

Try installing that app on the Gear itself.

Well, more than music popup works on the Gear, I was thinking in use the popup to create a rule with tasker o automatelt for every time there is a new song, the popup actÃvate the media controller on gear.
With music popup app on the gear (if it works, I'll try), only have info song, but no media controllers.
Thanks for your reply!!
I can't seem to figure out how to control music playing on my phone from my watch (using Google Music phone app). Is something supposed to pop up when I play music on my phone? I don't see an "app" on the watch that controls this. Note that I'm using a Note 3.
What am I missing?

You get card of current song and if u swipe to left u can advance and swipe to right one more time to stop I believe.

Actually I figured this out. You have to start the playback on the phone first. Then you get a notification that let's you pause / play, Swipe to the left and you next and once more to the left you get previous, but that is the extent of the stock music control. This worked with EVERY music player I have, not just Google stock Music player.
You can also control volume if you get the Wear Volume app - it appears as an additional notification card under the main music notification. And here is also something that is WAY cool - if you download musiXmatch app, you can scroll down and choose to display scrolling LYRICS to the current song!! I can't get BOTH volume AND lyrics to work at the same time however. Note the Volume works with any music app you choose in it's settings. However, musiXmatch only works with Google Play Music player.
There are also some voice controls to start playback. Such as OK Google, play me some music (that will start an "I'm feeling lucky" shuffle). OK Google, Play Some *artist name* . there are some others, but I use those two often.
Not sure if it matters, but this is on an HTC One M7, stock 4.4.2 Sense 6, Google Play Music.
I've just finished developing my Wear Music Controller app to solve this problem for me:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.barkside.music
You can play/pause/next/prev/stop/vol-up/vol-down from your watch! Works with all music apps. Let me know what you think!
It seems that I can't disable the stock music app in the app settings. I wouldn't mind it being there, however it conflicts with every other music player.
For example when I listen music in Google Music, and I press the button on my headset I would expect that GM would stop playing music, but instead the stock music app starts playing.
Also on the home screen I can't control GM, just the stock app.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Root your device and either freeze it with titanium backup or while rooted just delete the. Apk

Thanks, I've removed it, and it's almost perfect. Now the stock music app can't interfere with other apps.
There is only one small issue left but I believe there is no solution for this: The music controls on the lock screen does not work. There is no music control widget, only the one included in the lock screen, which only controls the stock app (which is not removed, so it is useless)
Anyway, now at least I can control playback from my headset. Thanks.
My music controls work on play music and Poweramp when I deleted the stock music app. My issue is that the controls work but there is no album art which I hate.
Hi all,
I have not been able to find any way to control the Google Music or any other application from the watch. I was expecting not being able only to launch the music application from it, but also to control the volume or to switch the song.
I have found in Google Play Store applications like this (trial and then allow you to purchase the license):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.barkside.music
If there is no native way to do this, i really cannot understand as i see this one of the most logical applications to use from the watch.
Cheers.
You can play, pause, skip forward and back tracks with the Google Play Music app and Android Wear directly.
When playing music it should automatically display on the watch.
If not, check and make sure you haven't muted the app.
Music Boss works for most players.

I haven't muted the application. The strange thing is that just in the moment i hit the play button from the phone (Sony Xperia Z3 with Android KitKat 4.4.4) the notification for the music appears, but hides immediately. Maybe its an issue from my phone.
Thank you very much for the quick answer .

I'm trying to determine the benefit of Music Boss. I have used it with the 3 main audio apps I tend to use, all of which notify to my watch (TuneIn Pro, Sirius, and Google Play Music). They are set up in Music Boss as well. So when any of them are playing, I have two different cards - one for the app itself and one for Music Boss. I can't seem to see how Music Boss gives offers anything beyond the separate apps, other than a common interface. Can anyone with more experience using this app tell me what i'm missing? Thanks!
same here, I found that android wear supports quite a few music apps out-of-the-box.
like vanilla music - they havent released a wear-related update afaik, but when I play music with the app it shows up as a card on my phone with play-pause and I can swipe into a next-previous-vol up-vol down screen
Sony Walkman, Google Music and Spotify works on my watch. No need for Music Boss or anything. Phone is Z2.

I finally found the problem. Sony Xperia has a free application called SmartKey:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.extras.liveware.extension.smartkey
With this application it is possible to assign extra functions to the button to answer calls in the headphones.
Anyway, this application was interfering with the SmartWatch option to show the controls in the watch graphic interface. Removing it or disabling it solves the problem.
Thank you very much for the help .
