hi, all
Just got a new update for my Ativ S, that displays the OS as the Windows Phone 8.1 UPDATE, a higher os version, apps corner(lets you choose the apps you want someone else to use on your phone-something in between kid's corner and separate user profiles on your phone), accessories apps(you can pair wearables with your phone and get apps that can give you notifications) and also the possibility to merge apps on to folders on your start screen. Cool
has anyone else got this update? is it the official, or is it still DP?
This is DP version

Howdy,
Does anybody know how do I remove a system app on Samsung ATIV S?
I have installed the following system apps (one that appear in Settings|System).
Samsung apps:
Contacts import
Additional call settings
Advanced text messages
Nokia apps (managed to install them via SysApps Pusher; some one them work, some don't):
Audio
Glance
Storage check
It is possible to remove these components without re-flashing the phone?

Yes, go to date & time, set the date 100 years in the future, try to open one of the system apps you want to delete, a prompt will open that you need to either buy or delete the app (Windows Phone store DRM). Click delete and voila, the app is gone. Set the date back to the correct date after you're done. Be careful with this.

Fantastic. Worked like a charm, thanks pal!
1. Went to Settings|date+time
2. Toggled Set automatically off and set the date to 100+1 years forward.
3. Switched to Settings|System and tapped system apps like Beats Audio from HTC one by one
For each of the tapped apps I've got a message like:
Problem with app
There's a problem with <TappedAppName>. You can first try to buy the app, but if that doesn't work, you'll need to uninstall the app and then install it again.
uninstall buy

4. Clicked uninstall for each one, and voila! they were removed without me needing to restart the phone.
5. Moved back to Settings|date+time and changed the year back to 2013.
Many thanks!
The only issue is that after that I've got a message when I started Mail app that there's been an error syncing my mail, whoa, the last time it synced was 100 years in the future, Restarting the phone seems to have solved the problem.
P.S.: Too bad Glance doesn't work with Samsung. I live the feature a lot, it's available on my wife's Nokia 620.
Glad it worked, It's indeed a shame Glance doesn't work on the Ativ S, Nokia uses special drivers for this. The only way we could have this feature if someone made a third party app that could do this or that someone manages to interop-unlock the Nokia Lumia series so we could copy these drivers to our Ativ S, but even then it's not a guarantee it will work.
Okay so, I just got my sister to buy 2 Lumia 520's for my nieces for Christmas.
I installed the preview for developers app on both and updated them to 8.0.10521.155
The versions for OS, Firmware Hardware, Radio and SOC match exactly on both devices. And on both I can close programs from the multi task preview.
However only one of them installed amber. Actually I think it just did it this morning because the store showed like 19 updates and they were all nokia apps extras+info and so forth. So I of course allowed the download. But so far have not seen those updates available on the other device.
So on settings Extras+Info, one of them shows Amber but the other one still shows 1.9.1.42
I've attached screen grabs from both
Then (what you can't see from the screen grab) at the bottom if I tap Additional Info
the one that does have amber, also shows Application Version 3.3.3.2 at the bottom
Thanks for any advice.
you can either just wait for the updates to show up (the store takes some time) or download Sysapp Pusher and update extras&infos, display etc manually.
If you have the same firmware on both Lumia 520, then you are with the Lumia Amber Firmware on both phones.
Update extras+info app via SysApp Pusher app.
A little backstory: As most of you probably know, you are/were able to run up to 4 instances of most apps on your phone. One download from Play Store, one from Galaxy Store, then repeat inside Secure Folder. Obviously with apps like Facebook, you could also use the Dual Messenger feature to run yet another instance.
I'm assuming the October update broke that feature, as I was prompted to update Pokemon Go today (I manage four accounts on one device) and it wouldn't let me update because it's already installed. At the time the issue store, I could access 3 instances that were already up-to-date (both Play Stores and one Galaxy Store). Thinking it was just a glitch, I uninstalled the working Galaxy Store version and tried to reinstall. Would not install, citing that it's already installed. So I uninstalled one Play Store download. Same thing.
In conclusion, I went from four working versions to three, and finally two (one from each store).
So my question is: has anyone else come across this issue AND does anyone have a workaround/solution?
My first thought would be to just downloads the updated APKs via a mirror, but I don't know the phone decides whether to overwrite or install a second instance (that is, how does it install the second instance and is there a way to force it to do that instead of overwriting?) I've also considered downgrading, but I'm on a Snapdragon phone and I /do/ want to stay as updated as I can.
I know it seems like such a minor thing, but it's pretty important to me to be able to manage my accounts on the fly without extra devices or constant logging in/out.
I'm rooted, just wondering how to do this.
Go into the Playstore and on the left side there is a menu. Turn off all updates for everything.
The next question you will have is how do I do updates on software that I need to update? The answer is, you go to APKPure and find the same software there in an APK. They have all of the old versions as well. Pick one before March 2019 if you can. That way you always have a copy of your distribution software also in case you ever do a reset. The problem is with Pay-For software. APKPure does not have that.
You also have to turn off their security updates in settings. I went through this on my Note 9. I have a thread here somewhere and it's included in it. It is to prevent upgrades from Oreo to preserve call recording.
Is there faster way to update all integrated apps/functions other than doing this one by one? Even after main system update, there are still conponents with their own updates, such albums, file manager or even home screen settings.
