[Q] Moto X Colour Calibration - Moto X Q&A

Hello all,
As I am still a new member, I was unable to query this in the Fauxkernel thread.
Does the Faux123 Kernel Enhancement app allow colour calibration on the Moto X? If not, is there another kernel / app that does work on the Moto X?
Thanks.

Bump.
Is no one able to confirm this?

As far as I remember this ability was removed in kit Kat. Don't quote me... But I'm pretty sure that's it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking to get a Moto X, but am not really a fan of the oversaturation inherent to AMOLED screens. So I'm basically looking for something that can help tone it down to a reasonable level.
Had a Nexus 5 before, so I was spoilt

No, there isn't any setting on Faux123 app to alter the colour calibration.

Short answer. no. A few of the kernel developers have looked into it, but have found that our IPS screens don't allow it.

The Tegra Prism Toggle helped make the screen a bit less washed out. Its not the greatest screen in the world but after many years of using amoleds i must say that it does one thing better than all of my previous devices, whites. Its cinda crispy and loveable too...

Optimus G rom on Nexus 4 actually works!

Hi Guys,
I just tried to flash a stock Optimus G rom on my Nexus 4 and it booted up!
Alot of stuff is working but Wifi/GSM doesnt work =[
I didnt change anything in the ROM! I am using optimus G kernel and build.prop!
The screen looked absoluetely gorgeous!
Anyone willing to help me get a stable ROM?
Thanks!
What do you want from the Optimus G software?
There isn't usually much development unless just for the sake of it.

You realize these 2 phones are technicaly not identical? And why would you want to install full stock LG software on a Nexus?
I wouldn't mind having an optimus g ported ROM. Just for the sake of playing around with it. Plus if I recall correctly they did have a few fun features to mess with

Yeah this might be interesting. I would assume that you would have to take the drivers from google's site and put them in the rom but that's way above my head...anyone willing to do that?
Which rom exactly did you flash?

I'm betting this was from the kernel Maybe this is a good tip for nexus 4 kernel devs!
Just curious, but would you mind posting how you did this? Also, how much better does the screen work? More importantly, is the camera better (or does it even work)? I've been eyeing this for a while (HERE), and was wondering if I could format/re-partition my device into an Optimus G?

I would like to see an optimus g based rom since I like trying every version of android. And can you tell us which rom you flashed or just give the link?

Camera doesnt work. Ill try to flash the optimus g radio tomorrow!
Can someone add the navigation bar in the framework-res ?
I maybe release a alpha build tomorrow
I've actually been looking for an optimus g port for the nexus 4. I thinks its pretty nice and has good features. I would definitely use it and having options doesn't hurt; isn't that one of the reasons we love android so much ?

optimus g
I had an optimus g before my Nexus 4. There are quite a few things I miss. The UI is good the camera has a number of better settings and options. I looked being able to use the feature that allowed you to watch a video while texting or really anything else. The bad part is that it is still only ICS. BTW the screen does look much better.

You mention the screen looking better. Does the optimus g have the same screen as the nexus 4? I keep hearing how the nexus 4 is washed out but I am satisfied. This makes me want to try a ROM with a kernel that has different color settings. But I'm so satisfied with rooted stock rom that I do not see a reason to change tbh

yes it has the same screen. the difference is the calibration of the screen, aka rgb value, gamma value. i have heard the optimus g has a better calibrated screen out of the box. btw if you want the different color settings you dont have to change the rom, its all in the kernel. make a nandroid of your setup and flash a kernel with gamma control, eg faux/franco. this is just a kernel change and your rom will still be the same stock rom, but you will have control over the calibration of your screen. stock is okay and you get used to it, but you would be surprised how much better it can be. oh, and with the kernel you will probably get a faster phone with more battery life. but if you dont like having the custom kernel you could always restore your nandroid

I might give it a shot. So you are saying battery life stays the same or even improves? Guess I'll keep stock and try another kernel. What would you recommend? I've heard good about Franco's kernel. Guess ill try tomorrow. For now I'll just say good night

[Q]

I am looking for a ram cleaner widget equals or similar to the one that comes with LG Optimus G.
Any recommendations?
You don't need one.
Sent from my XT1053 using Tapatalk 2
Correct, Android does not need a RAM cleaning program. I did not know that LG included one. Shame on them. "Cleaning" your RAM will only result in greater battery use, and decreased performance.
Thanks for advising, but i am still looking for one.

droidlight - its all budget all the time but its from Motorola Mobility, so it should be 100% safe to use.
Torch toggle from gravitybox.
Does it make much difference? I am using the Motorola one but I'm wondering why you would ask - do different apps provide a brighter light?
The one I linked above is super simple.open it, the light turns on.open it again, it turns off.easy as could be

I'm not sure what is the Motorola one? Do you mean Droidlight LED Flashlight? Looks it will automatically turn off when screen time is up.

That's the Droidlight LED Flashlight, I saw some comments that it will automatically turn off when the screen time is up, do you have the same issue?
No, but motto puts a time limit on the led. I assume it is to protect the led from over heating.

Been using this one since my Driod 1. Lets you use screen or LED and seems to be very lightweight (would have posted the actual link, but I never really posted to XDA... just mainly read. Need to get rid of the stupid post restriction)
I use the flashlight in Power Toggles. I keep a set of toggles on a lock screen widget (WiFi, sound mode, Bluetooth, flashlight, GPS) and the flashlight is one of them.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
TeslaLed, you can set a widget with it that automatically turns it on. It also has strobe options I believe. But it also works great with Tasker as it is built in as a plugin or 3rd party options. I exported an app with Tasker App Factory so I can activate it via voice as well.

[Q] Anyone working on Paranoid for Moto X2?

Hey guys,
is there anyone working on a awesome Paranoid-Rom?
Best wishes
While I'd love to have Paranoid on this device, I'm not switching ROMs till we get one with the Moto apps working. (well, moto display at the very least)
Guess I'll be rocking stock for a long long time.

Im tired about the moto apps... I didnt like thr moto display APP :S
You guys will be waiting a long time.. aka forever lol... Can try AcDisplay from the play store.. It's similar to moto display
Didnt like that app, mate. Not very similar to MotoDisplay.
And its sensors are amazing to use.

I hate motodisplay... It sux very well
The badest are the two different lockscreens xD
I love my moto 360 and cm or pa Roms
why? when you unlock the moto display, it does not show another lockscreen. No problem with that.
X1097
Press the power button if the moto is locked or open an APP with the smartwatch...
I'm working on porting the rom, don't know how long it'll take. First port but so far so good
If u request it on their G+ page usually they will consider it but one of the Devs from PA would need to own the device.
I bought a oneplus one
