Knock on code not working when reverting to stock... - Verizon LG G2

I have noticed that when I come off Cloudy G3 and go back to stock ROM, my knock off works, but knock on does not. I'm assuming that is because the knock code is different coming from the G3 ROM. Is there a way to access the hidden menu once stock to update the touch code? Anyone else experience this?

I am in the same boat and I have read both of those long threads in the DEV forum. I can't get this to work for the life of me!! I have tried 4 different ROMS all based on stock and I still always get that same Error: Activity Class blah, blah, does not exist !! I tried clicking on the Hiddenmenu.apk, but it says it has a problem parsing. I am sure I have all the permissions set properly. I really have no idea why I can't get to this secret menu, but It's really pissing me off at this point! I hate this phone w/o the knock on feature.

OMG, thank you! LOL... I still don't understand what the difference was flashing it rather than manually extracting the 2 files and setting permissions myself, but at this point I don't even care... just glad I FINALLY got into that menu to upgrade my firmware!!!!
- With that said, it still didn't seem to fix my knock on

I take it you have it enabled in Settings, Gestures also? Just double checking.
As for the hidden menu, you don't run the .apk, gotta run a long command line to launch it, that's what the second file contains.

Yes, it's enabled. Tried disabling and re-enabling several times before and after the firmware upgrade.
I know about the command line. I was trying it manually over 4 different ROMs and kept getting that same stupid error. Like I said, I can't figure out what flashing it did differently than what I was doing, but whatever! haaha.
Really miss the knock on though. I guess it's my phone as I also have that dead area towards the top of the screen that others have reported. Why that effects the knockon from the bottom of the screen is anyone's guess.
Thanks again!

LG Revolution Service Codes

Not sure if this has been posted before, but for reference, here's two lovely commands for your Revo4g.
Please note! Not all of the commands in the menus are safe-- in fact, just plain ol assume that these menus can totally mess up your phone in a way not even LG understands.
If you don't know what you're doing, don't mess with them!
With that said, here they are.
Open the dialer, and dial:
VZW Hidden Menu

LG Hidden Menu
##lgservicemenu
Click to collapse
When prompted for a code, just enter zeroes until the dialogue box goes away. I didn't count how many...
I still need to finish analyzing the apps, but it looks like one could possibly enable some 'features' (*cough* tethering) if one pressed buttons in the correct order leading to a DUN MIP change
Good luck! Don't brick your device!
in LG Hideen Menu>data
there is Enable "Admin Data".....what could that be?
EDIT: Just a thought, does this have anything to do with the "Device Admin Settings" shortcut you can add with a long press on a homescreen?

You can actually set a shortcut to these in either launcher pro or adw I seem to recall. That will give you easy access to the features.

[Script] WiFi Only (Great for devices no longer activated)

Thanks:
Scary Alien for helping with some of my brainstorms
CPCookieMan for pointing me in the right direction with my initial thoughts for this project
MongooseHelix for the idea of the script vs a flashable zip
This is a very simple script that utilizes the radiooptions command to disable the radio but still allow use of WiFi without having to use airplane mode. Great for people who just upgraded and want to use their older device for an mp3 player with WiFi access. I wanted to make it to be run in init.d on startup but haven't successfully got it working that way yet so for now it can be run with script manager. This script can be run as follows:
1. Download the script and place it somewhere on your SD Card. (Maybe make a folder named Scripts to keep things organized)
2. Download Script Manager from the market.
3. Open Script Manager and navigate to where you saved the script then select the script.
4. Check the options for run as root and if you always use wifi only because you don't have service on your device check off Run at boot as well.
5. When prompted by superuser allow superuser permissions.
I have tested this script on my Incredible and my Eris as well and should be universal to run on any android device.
Download Here
If you are using this on an inactive device and don't want the activation screen coming up after reboot and new ROM flash follow these simple steps.
*NOTE: you need to be using a ROM that has EPST.apk in it for this procedure to work.
1. Select emergency call and dial ##778.
2. Select edit and enter service password 000000.
3. Select NAM Settings.
4. Change Mobile Directory number to 0000000000 (Ten digits).
5. Change MIN1 to 0000000 (Seven digits).
6. Change Mobile Country Code to 000 (Three digits).
7. As you back out "Commit the Change".

Yes. It will work on any rooted device and any ROM. Just run through Script Manager and if you want to disable it change the settings within Script Manager to disable run on boot then reboot. It's that easy.

Click to collapse
Yes.. It should work on any rooted device running any ROM. If you want to double check to be certain you can check inside the ROM for /system/bin/radiooptions, then you will know for certain it should work. The script uses that to shut down the radio.
Cool, almost makes me wish I would have kept my Eris.

So can this allow us to tether the wi-fi only phone to our new network phone? the idea being to use the non-network phone to stream pandora, use google maps, etc?

Doing that will work but next reboot you'll probably get the activation screen again. If not you'll get it again after another ROM flash but it will come back at some point. I think I noticed on my Eris it was after a reboot. This procedure below got rid of it permanently.
Then you shouldn't be prompted to activate again even after a new ROM is flashed

Good point . No they won't. Dial *228 option 1. It will ask for the phone number you want to activate and that stuff will be done ota. That's how I activated my Eris with a different number as well. I would suggest making sure to do that from a stock or stock based ROM as well.

Also, I'm trying to remove the activation upon startup, but the View doesn't have a phone to it. is there any other way to disable the activation throuhg the registry or something?

[APK][LG-D415] LG-D415 QuickButton Editor

This little utility application is designed for assigning a custom action to the QuickButton on the LG Optimus L90 LG-D415. This application is only for LG-D415 devices.
After flashing a custom ROM we basically have a useless button on our device. In my CM11 ROM, selfless plug LOL, I assign a WAKE action to the QuickButton which, when pressed, will wake the device. So the button's not completely worthless. This application was obviously written for LG-D415 users running custom ROMs but it may, as in maybe, work on stock as well.
Anyway in response to a thread that was created recently and also after having thought about it previously, I decided to write this app.
The application is not signed and does NOT have any kind of advertisements. The only requirement is ROOT privileges as it must write to a system file. You will be prompted for root confirmation when the app is launched for the first time, this also depending on how your superuser is set up.
This application modifies, actually replaces, /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl. The application will back up your original gpio-keys.kl only the first time you Apply a custom action. That way you still have your original file in case of error. The back up is saved in the same folder as "gpio-keys.kl.bk".
Have fun!!!
I used it. It works. The button now bring up my camera. D415

No, I dont think so, mainly because I'm having to use key ids that are pre-defined. I will dig in to it a little deeper tho.
Sent from my LG-D415 using Tapatalk
After some more digging I've determined that there is no way to define a custom application to be called by the QuickButton. At the moment, the only way I can think of to possibly do this is to have a background service running to "listen" for the QuickButton presses and then launch the appropriate activity.
In reality, at the moment in any case, all this app does it trick the system in to believing that the QuickButton is actually the button whose action we assign to it belongs to.
I also found two more actions I missed, "Search" && "Bookmark". Haven't tested "Bookmark" yet so I'm not sure what app it opens. LOL. Will know shortly tho
I've also considered adding "Home" and "Menu" to the list as well. Thoughts?
I like the ideas, I just really liked to set the button to open up my messages.
I really like the app though. Plain and simple.

As for the "Search" and "Bookmark" I mentioned earlier, ehhh, no go. They don't do anything.
OP updated with new version - 0.1.1
[ CHANGES ]
- Removed redundant code
- Significant improvement in speed for writing changes to gpio-keys.kl.
- Application is now setting permissions, ( 0644 ), for gpio-keys.kl as well.

Running stock, there is really no need for my application. As much as I hate to admit it, LOL. At this point in time, no, the only choices are they default apps I have already listed in the application.
I believe in order to implement the ability to launch ANY activity ( APP ), I will need to create a background service to listen for QuickButton presses and then act accordingly. This is still theoretical, but from my programming experience, seems to be the only answer. Granted, I'm a Windows programmer, so there may be something I'm missing or overlooking too. LOL.
Oops... Sorry folks, I made a boo boo with my last uploaded version. There was still an entry for "Bookmark" in the radio button choices. "Bookmark" doesn't do anything. LOL.
New version added to the OP
I may have found a way to allow the QuickButton to open "ANY" application. I'm in the middle, well almost finished, of another project. Once I get a chance, I'll experiment with my latest findings and will let everyone know

Can you help with and install that app with adb, I don't know how to do it.
Not the same device and somebody else may have a better source but these guys gave me some info I wasn't aware of (plus is the first one I could come up with
://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/noob-read-adb-fastboot-how-hep-t2807273
I pulled the phone app off mine and replaced it with drupe to set if there was lost functionality. So far works pretty well, like the app had never used it before. I think my wife has the straight Google dialer for nougat on her n5, up pull it off there and give it a run. I never really used those other features so they never meant anything to me just duplication. If I want to message I message etc..
Teu downloading that file and the program win - zip says it will open those files. Haven't gotten inside it yet myself but I would think that being a regular apk if it is still slow you to install it the normal way
I had the same problem, AT&T is my carrier. I had to insert a T-Mobile SIM, open the contacts app and hot swap the SIM back to AT&T, at which point the phone rebooted and all was well.
There is probably another way to do this, as it seems to be related to video calling.
I Uninstalled my lg dailer to see if I could duplicate the issue. Got rid of that app and replaced it with drupe. Really like the way that app works but it seems that you can't use the dailer codes to access the hidden service menu without it. I don't use the video value so that means nothing to me, but those codes could be useful.
I've got a tgz file that I sent you but can't seem to open it up to extract that apk.
All you did was switch out SIM cards? That sounds odd to me, but I did notice that once the call is placed the LG dealer /call interface shows up but as soon s you end the call away goes the dialer
You know what all ths phone dialer exist in? I searched. For phone.apk found nothing?
you can take it by yourseld...extract the kdz of you model smartphone take the system img and open it with ext2explore, then explore the system image save it on you computer explore system image saved and take all your apk you need..save in your microsd and install..
