Hello, my sister has one s advance and installed the cm11, however I can only put the micro modular package of google apps. I have an S3 and changed the partition sizes through using a script on Phils Touch (CWM), decreases the system partition, cache and others to increase the Sdcard. My question is, would it be possible to do the reverse to increase the system partition in S Advance and install a more complete package google?

Sure, look here. That's my own method, before I was Tesla-MADAL93 :silly:
On i9070 is the same, just 8 gb instead of 4

I've a problem changing rom from cyanogenmod to any other rom; if I flash the new one from clockwork I've a boot loop, with all the roms I've tried.
The only thing I can do is go back again to cyanogenmod or flash the whole stock rom, loosing all internal sd card contents, and then install the new rom; but I've to root the stock to install clockwork again.
I hope anyone can understand my bad english, sorry.
Please help! ;-)
Byez.

Did you do the three wipes before installing? What cwm version do you have installed? The new one with the touch interface would only install MIUI and nothing else for me. Every other rom caused a bootloop. Reverting to cwm 5.0.2.7 solved it for me.

in CM /system is EXT4 but stock/some other ROMs use EXT3, so reverting to stock via a nandroid (something I've tried & seen fail) or flashing a ROM thats updater script doesn't format the partition to the type it needs will fail as you'll just overwrite the contents of the EXT4 partition & have a kernel that only supports EXT3, hence bootloops
There a flashable zip files that just format /system (and other partitions too) to whichever you need in one of the stickys in the development section, have a look in here & do some reading in those threads to see if this is the problem you are having or if I'm way off base
as with everything, backup before you mess with it
(I'm pretty new to the P990 so could be missing something)
Tnx, I will look for the script and I think the problem is just the ext4.
Thanks, I will let you know. ;-)

mattiadj, hi!
What did you mean by saying "corrupts my EXT3 partition.."?
Please, explain for me. If it realy true - i think i can help you.
if it bug in sources, i can path them and recompile for us.
I have 32 gb sd and i need 1gb ext partition.
What i have did is:
Advacend
Partition SD card
Ext size 1024M
Swap Size 0M
Then wait for partitioning.
Now i have my sd ext partition is correctly created.
If i made a full wipe (factory reset) which also format sdext the fs of ext being corrupted!

theres your problem.
only use minitool partition wizard to create your ext3.
by using recovery cwm it won't work. its a many tried and failed way.
so resize sd card to allow 1.2gb unallocated space.
format 1.2gb unallocated space into ext3 and select primary.
apply each action seperatly. takes around 5 mins to complete.
use and sd card reader in your pc to do this
I have flashed 5.0.2.6 and now no problem with formatting sdcard with recovery in ext3.
I have take this version from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1478678

ok thats fair enough...your problem with ext3 will still exist.
cwm creates a swap drive. the scripts we use doesn't work with a swap drive...even set at 0, so all that work is for nothing...
if you want a working ext partition for the salsa, you have to create it in mini tool only......if you don't and create in cwm...you'll be walking around for days trying to get this to work!
ive stressed so many times for all you guys...you have to follow the ways setup....i know i tested it all out! i wouldn't be sitting here saying...don't make it in cwm if i didn't know what i was saying.
this version cwm is fine.....no problems what so ever.....you need ext3....goto the development forum here and see the advice given
recovery 5.0.2.8 has a problem with restoring sd-ext, it won't.
it will backup but not restore, reverted back to 5.0.2.6 and its fine on restore

Check to make sure that you have proper root on the galaxy note. If you cannot paste a file into the system folder your note is not rooted. Remember to allow write privilege on this folder and change it back to read only after you paste and delete the file.
I am trying to flash the ICS version.
At the moment i am on ICS stunner.
I think ill re download the zip file as i know i am properly roooted.
might be a bad zip, are you flashingit from internal memory or sd card?
i just flashed the rom so it is working ok for me at least
Im flashing it from the external sd card.
I have to take out sd card and use a adapter to transfer the file. Because for some reason on ics stunner whenever i transfer files the phone freezes.
Hi, i'm an HTC Desire owner, with some experience in rooting, flashing etc.
my sis has an Ace, i want to root it and put CM7.2 stable there.
question is simple:
due to low internal storage i know that on Ace there are scripts to utilize sd-ext partition for storing apps, same as on the Desire.
however, on my HTC, there is also a way to resize partitions by applying a custom hboot, to maximize space usage (CM7 needed only 80mb while any Sense Rom used 250mb, so it was a 170mb waste without custom partitions).
so, on galaxy Ace is there also something similar ? or do i just root, install CWM and then go with CM7.2 + sd-ext.
also, do i have to apply the sd-ext script myself or will the Simple2Ext app from Play store do that for me (as on HTC Desire)?
thanks in advance!
That method won't work on Ace...you have to use CM7.2 with SD-EXT partition. You should use s2e
Insert witty sentence here
No custom boot to resize partitions on the ace.
If you have an ext format partition on your sd, and rom cm7, then all you need is s2e from the playstore to move apps to the partition.
thanks guys, everything seems to be pretty straight forward!
Hello guys
I need to sell my phone keeping only the rom, insertcoin with sense 6
The only dubt is how to format internal storage without doing any soft damage
Is ok to wipe internal storage in twrp recovery?? Do that will keep rom intact?
What is the best procedure to do that?
Or is better to flash a 4.4.2 ruu?? I'm s-off.

Copy ROM into ibternal storage, then Wipe the whole phone except internal storage in recovery, flash rom and then delete every folder from internal storage with TWRP file manager, then you can sell your phone

close, but the correct way is copy rom to internal storage - reboot to recovery - flash the rom and choose to wipe the phone during install. when the install is finished go back to twrp choose wipe / advanced wipe / internal storage only and your phone will be out of the box clean.
