Can't unlock bootloader - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ever since I re-locked my bootloader it has never wanted to unlock again.
The first time I unlocked my bootloader was on 10.4.1.B.101 (i think). I flashed VanirAOSP and it worked fine. I cracked my screen later on so I locked bootloader and flashed stock to send it in for repairs. All was fine.
Yesterday I attempted to unlock once again, but this time on the latest 4.4.2 stock rom (not rooted)
Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes
All was good so far.
I used fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version to see if the device was attached properly.
*Bear in mind I have not re-installed Windows or install/uninstall drivers for any of my Android devices.
It returned 0.5 so I proceeded to unlock the bootloader using fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY
It said FAILED (remote: Command did not succeed)
I used the same command again and it did "..." for a few seconds and said OKAY
I unplugged my XZ and rebooted it and it bootlooped forever.
I have since restored with PC Companion and rooted with Towelroot. Really missing AOSP so does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

Did you check the imei and the unlock key?

I'm not stalking you, for some reason this thread keeps showing up at the top of my Tapatalk feed ._.
Heard some people changed 0x0fce to 0x0FCE and it worked for them.

Just use only "fastboot oem unlock 0xKEY"

Neither of those worked.

Worst case scenario it could be dead eMMC. Dunno then.

Try to downgrade to 4.2.2 and unlock. And to update just flash any stock based rom or custom rom

I wiped everything and flashed 4.2.2 and it still did Failed: command did not succeed
I haven't tried with Flashtool yet but it shows that the bootloader is rootable.

Note that the KEY must be typed without last 2-4 digits (can't remember exactly).

Okay I've successfully unlocked the bootloader and flashed recovery using Flashtool.
I made an ulcode.txt in custom/mydevices/SERIALNUMBER and put my unlock code in the .txt
Opened flashtool, picked BLU and held vol down and plugged the usb cable into the phone.
I pressed Unlock and away it went and it completed.
After un-plugging I booted it up and my data hadn't been wiped and upon going into the Service Menu it shows that the BL is unlocked.
Hopefully this helps anyone else whos having troubles

Xperia Z Unlocking bootloader issues

hey, this is my first post on here.
A while ago I got my Xperia Z which is unlocked to all networks and I checked in the service menu and it said I could unlock the bootloader so I did so and installed my own roms, then it became faulty so I got it repaired but before so I flashed the stock rom on there just incase it was refused to be repaired because of the custom rom.
When I got it back I discovered in the service menu my bootloader can no longer but unlocked and I cannot root it or put CWM on it or anything as I keep getting errors... any advise?
I tried using the original bootloader unlock code I got but the phone rejects it saying something like 'FAILED remote does not have permission' or something along those lines in the CMD while using the fastboot code.

I've got my phone rooted now following a guide but it hasn't helped
Make sure your mobo has not changed, and ask Sony for a new unlock code
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
If in service menu, and in bootloader unlock = NO, then it mean your motherboard has been changed, or the person that do the repair just change another phone for you which is unable to unlock..bootloader unlock = NO status mean no matter how you do it, the phone cannot longer be unlock as the phone hardware has been lock for specific carrier(usually)...
I tried anyway putting my IMEI into the sony website and got a new unlock code but that will still not unlock the bootloader, and my issue never got fixed as I was told that the motherboard would need to be replaced and I couldn't afford it, and I'm concerned as to why my IMEI has changed and I can no longer unlock my bootloader and I've tried downloading a new stock rom and flashing it and my phone is unlocked to all networks still as that was the way I got it and it is still this way.

Just continuing into that thread, is that possible to mod the carrier? I used to send my SXZ to the sav, get it back, unlocked the BL tried a rom and (was-i think- tired) I relocked it -_-, and from now on can't unlock the BL anymore,is there a solution or I just need to reflash the TA, put everything to stock and send it back to sav?

I said this to you when you asked in the bootloader unlock thread, but you didn't respond or acknowledge my reply.
The unlock key is case sensitive. Meaning that any letters that are upper case (capital letters) must be entered in upper case. So E must be entered as E, not e.
If you don't enter the unlock key exactly how they sent it to you, it will not work.
If it still won't work, maybe you entered your IMEI incorrectly when requesting the unlock key. Try requesting it again and double check the IMEI when you enter it into the form, as a key generated for the incorrect IMEI also will not work.

Is there any one click to unlock?

I EntErEd the E as E and B as B and still the same
And also when i request me key i put my full IMEI and click ok and its says YOUR IMei is incurrect (try delete the last charecter) is thats may the problem?
Anyway i bored of that unlocking story now im trying to get perooted rom
Well, you're definitely doing something wrong. Both Flashtool and fastboot work for unlocking the bootloader for everyone else.
From your screenshot in the bootloader unlock thread, you were entering the key with all lower case characters, which was probably wrong if you're now entering some upper case characters. Enter it EXACTLY how it is in the email.
Anyway, good luck flashing any rom without root. You'll need root to install a recovery.

Are you deliberately not reading what I'm telling you or something?
You'll need root to install a recovery to flash that rom. If you don't want to unlock your bootloader, you will need to downgrade to a 4.2.2 stock rom.

I guess I'm having the same issue as when I was trying to unlock bootloader through flashtool I used the code from Sony website generated by my IMEI, I copied it Exactly as they have sent it and flashtools response was at first Fail and when I tried to do it second time it happened to work and said 'okay' but after turning my phone on it ended up in endless loop... I tried it on 4.3 and 4.2. The bootloader unlock allowed says yes.

[Q] Does MoKee ROM requires Unlock Bootloader?

I am not allowed to post on MoKee thread so I will post my question here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761807
I am not a newbie and have been following XDA for 6 different devices and more than 5 years. But I just didn't post enough.
I am currently on SONY Xperia ZR (C5502) 4.4.2 (rooted). I have been trying to flash MoKee 4.4x for the past few weeks but in vain. I bricked my device few time already by trying and have to revital it with all kind of tools (Flashtool, Sony Update Service, fastboot).
I guess now my question is - "Does MoKee ROM requires Unlock Bootloader?" In the last post of that thread, someone said that it MUST be Unlock Bootloader. Is that true? The only reason I care so much about this is because I screwed up my device every time I unlocked it.
I was using the "fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY" method.
I am currently using 10.5.A.0.230.
Your answer will be really appreciated.

Yes just like any other rom out there you will need an unlocked bootloader. The reason is because you have to flash a custom recovery such as CWM and to do that you need to unlock your bootloader. I recommend unlocking you bootloader using flashtool instead of the command. Because it is just easier. When I was trying to unlock my bootloader I experienced problems doing it the way with the cmd. And what problems does it give you after unlocking and how does it screw your device? Thanks!!
PS: Try flashing a custom recovery because maybe your bootloader is already unlocked.:good:

I have installed -=[XZDualRecovery]=- with locked bootloader, so I don't think the reason is about the flashing of the recovery, maybe is something related with kernel flashing. but I'm not sure.

Yes, I have confirmed that it REQUIRES Unlock Bootloader to install MoKee.
I unlocked my bootloader with Flashtool this time, instead of commend line this time. That fixed the problem I used to have.
But I used the CWM comes with XZDualRecovery to install MoKee 4.4.4. It works out fine.

Any custom rom requires boot loader unlock.

xperia z (c6603) bootloader wont unlock!

hey
well i got my xperia z c6603 a few weeks ago and i unlocked the bootloader using the instructions on the sony website, well everything went ok.
but i had a issue when flashing something so had to flash back to a generic uk rom, well ever since i have been unable to unlock my bootloader again!
tried flashtool and i get FAILED (remote: incorrect format for unlock data. should be in the form of "0x) and it does start with 0x
before this i tried the fastboot using cmd or command prompt
when i type fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version i get 0.5
but when i try to put in the unlock code i get
FAILED (remote: command did not succeed)
finished. total time: 0.040s
if i put the code in again it does work but then the phone gets stuck in a bootloop!
i have tried different generic roms and have even tried going to a older rom and upgrading through sony companion but i keep getting the same thing!
i really dont know what to do,i hope someone can help me please.
is there any other way of doing this? what could have caused it? it worked fine untill i failed installing a rom.
i am from the uk,so i have tried different generic roms but it just does the same thing the phone is working perfectly fine and theres no changes
Forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me but AFAIK the bootloader doesn't relock by simply flashing a stock rom. It should still be unlocked and that's why you are undergoing issues attempting to unlock possibly? Have you tried reflashing the kernel ?
flashing stock rom doesn't relock the bootloader

Unlocking bootloader: definitive bye-bye to automatic updates?

With the Moto Z, after I returned the phone to stock (flashed stock firmware and locked the bootloader), I'd be able to flash stock firmware with the flashing locked.
Not so with the Motorola One Zoom. In other words, flashing stock and re-locking didn't return the phone to its pristine state. Even when flashing stock firmware over stock firmware, I have to unlock the bootloader.
Differences I observed: on the bootloader screen, when re-locked the Z would show "oem_locked" again. On the One Zoom, it shows "flashing_locked" instead. I'm pretty sure it showed "oem_locked" before unlocking.
WIth the Z, every time I wanted to unlock the bootloader, I had to issue "fastboot oem unlock" followed by the unlock code. The code isn't necessary with the re-locked One Zoom.
In other words, maybe it was a one-way trip. It seems that the phone won't return to its original state, it looks it's modified for good. And I'm afraid this means bye-bye to automatic updates.
Am I missing something here?
My bootloader is also unlocked and I dont have any problems with receiving and installing OTAs I also have Magisk and EdExposed installed - no problems at all.

yes.
What instruction did you use to unlock the bootloader?
What region is your device manufactured for?
Does your PC see your device connected to the fastboot mod?
What does this command give you:

Hey all,
I have the Moto One Zoom running on Android 9.
Also, It's Rooted with Magisk and have Riru EdXposed installed, can I install my OTA updates without bootloop or do I have to Uninstall Magisk, relock bootloader and factory reset/flash stock firmware to get latest OTA updates?
Any feedback is appreciated.
