I've made a nandroid backup of my rooted stock Rom with cyanogen recovery and flashed Modacos FR15 wich worked retty good for me. But after some testing i wanted to change back to my stock Rom. After doing backup of the Modaco I wiped and restored the stock rom backup which refused to boot. I restored the modaco Rom which worked perfect. Any ideas what the reason could be? BTW md5 check before restore was all fine and no errors on restore.

Did you wipe everything? Also Dalvik cache? It worked for me tho, what kind of version are you using for CWM?
CWM is 3.0.2.8 (latest version which i installed via ROM Manager) - as I said - other backups of CM Nightly and Modaco FR15 worked without probs. But I made 2 Backups of my rooted Stock ROM v10c which refuse to boot after restore :/
Wiped all except Dalvik - I thought Dalvik gets wiped when doing Wipe Data / Factory Reset ... but I will try again with wiping Dalvik too.
I tried again to restore this time with dalvik wipe - but no change - boot hangs at the LG logo with the grey/blue loading-bar, the bar is moving some seconds and then stops and nothing happens. :/
try to press power+vol down to reset the phone to factory default. see if it can help...
I've had similar problem.
phone wont boot.
Only way I found out, you can see here:
http://android.modaco.com/content/l...rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15-03-2011/
but you will loose everything what is on your phone
The reason it won't work, is because MCR converts the file system to ext4 (which CM7 can cope with). To revert to stock, you need ext3 - either
1. Use this to convert back to ext3 and immediately restore the backup (don't reboot or it will go fubar) http://android.modaco.com/content/l...3-for-converting-your-device-er-back-to-ext3/
2. Use nvflash to restore the stock 10b, then flash Clockwork, and then restore your backup.
The choice is yours .
i had miui in my lg o2x. I wanted to switch back on stock rom by lg. I had a backup in clockwork of my stock rom. I used it to restore. Although the restoration was sucessfull. My phone is stuck up on boot loop. Now i tried the miui room too (version 2.1.13). But my phone is stuck in boot loop. I tried nvflash. But the phone is not even connecting to windows thru usb, as it is stuck up on boot loop. Please tell me any solution :/
Just wipe the cache and data in clockwork recovery mode

If u are changing from one rom to another
-do a factory reser

-wipe dalvic cache
but if u are just upgrading from the same rom
-wipe cache
-wipe dalvic cache

Hi!
You have to convert back the partitions from ext4 to ext3 because miui works with ext4 filesystem but stock rom works only with ext3. Flash this throught CWM http://www.mediafire.com/?85fs1223hztsd1p this sctipt converts the phone to ext3 and after that you can restore your backup.

I've been trying to load the Cyanogen 7.1 update for my Galaxy S, and have been following the instructions on the Cyanongen Forum.
I firstly installed the Clockwork mod from the instructions on the sticky at the top of the cyanogen galaxy s forum
I then did a Nandroid backup, formatted the system, data & cache partitions then rebooted. The phone didn't reboot, so I followed some other instructions, and also wiped the Dalvik cache. The phone still didn't reboot.
Any ideas how I can now load up my original ROM? Clockworkmod is installed which is reassuring, but it wont seem to load anything up. Do I need to wipe any cache etc, before restoring up my original ROM?
Update;
I've tried to restore everything (except SD) from the recovery mode, but it's still not booting up. Help!

hm you formatted /system after installing rom, if i understood correctly?? That means there isn't any rom in the phone to boot up
just boot to recovery and flash CM7 again..this time without formatting anything..or if you want to go back to Samsung sick rom, you'll have to use Odin/Heimdall because it uses totally different flash layout (you'll have to use re-partition).

I'm pretty sure you have to have USB debugging on before doing a backup aswell

I have my Droid 4 ICS rooted.
I just installed Safestrap 2.11, installed recovery from inside safestrap, rebooted, enter safestrap menu, enabled safe system, flashed cm10 rom downloaded from hash, flashed gapps zip, rebooted.... and the phone is stuck on CM10 boot animation.
Anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem with eclipse when trying to flash a newer iteration. I tried flashing a bunch of patches and overclock without rebooting into the rom once. I would recommend factory wipe/wipe cache and reinstalling rom. if that doesnt work maybe just flash rom, boot and then reboot into recovery to flash gapps.
FYI, you need to do a factory reset the first time you install a ROM on your safe side. To be clear, you need to perform a factory reset on your SAFE side (ROM-side)
Today I flashed blisspop rom v2.2 + Gapps in my Mi3 using TWRP v2.8.6.0. But after the reboot, the phone boots into Stock MIUI 6. It looks like stock MIUI is installed. How to boot into newly installed custom rom.Is it anything related to dual boot or something went wrong during flash.
Probably you flashed the custom rom in system 2. Boot in system 1 via cwm and then flash the custom rom.
use CWM
Mi3 uses two system. system 1 and system 2.
TWRP always flashes in one system alone...
Use CWM recovery instead of TWRP. Even I faced same issues when i started flashing, etc )
check miui forums for CWM zip files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-3/development/recovery-clockworkmod-mi3w-6-0-5-0-t2847367
Flash it on both systems otherwise it won't work
If you wanna you dual boot (i don't recommend) then install miui on both systems, wipe data, just boot to sys 1 and reboot to recovery, take the system 1 backup with data, wipe data, enable tdb(true dual boot), again wipe to be sure, install custom rom on both systems, boot it and rebbot to recovery, restore system backup to system 2 n data 2, done
This method is faily old so i don't know if that works or not as i don't use tdb
Hey ,
I am also Facing the same issue as above, installed a cfw but still get MIUI to load.
How can i install the CWM over a TWRP and where can i get the CWM for MI 3W?
