Hey all.
Back on 4.3 when I was rooted, i was able to run the various call recorder apps. I use it to record my work calls where note taking is required. I play the call back, take more detailed notes and then delete the call.
After upgrading to KitKat and rooting, I am no longer able to record any calls...I just get static digital noise.
I also enabled the WANAM hack to allow call recording with no change.
Anyone have any recommendations on getting this to work under KitKat?
Thanks in advance

Working perfectly for me. Here example. I'm running Dynamickat ROM. You're welcome to try it out and see if it works for ya. Very solid rom.
I may be wrong but I think Wanam enables the call record button on the dialer. Not sure if it does anything with other apps.

I was wondering if devs know if it is possible to implement call recording on our X8s. Is it hardware limited? I've been reading about this and it seems that almost no android phones can do this
Good question I'm exciting to the answer
Questions go to the Q&A section!

You can find many apps that can record your call conversation, just look at the market.

AllCallRecorder is one of them, and it worked like a charm when I use it . I don´t know if it still working on my current ROM, but as it is free, everybody should try it

It doesn't work. It only records my voice and not the other party's.
Try 2-Way Call Recorder,
It's free and it record both sides during the call. It working fine on gingerDX

Hey Dexter,
thought you knew that [Q] threads are for Q&A forum
Thread moved
I kind of thought it would fit better in the dev forum as this is not something that can be done through apps.
I have already let stay in development forums 2 other [DISCUSSION] threads from you because i thought that they have inside somewhat of development but i cannot leave there any kind of thread only because they speak about dev, Q&A is the right place.
My orders as a moderator are to move every thread to Q&A that doesn' implement anything but development, such ROMS, Modules; scripts.

I get a strange way to record phone conversations with the application vRecoder. I think that the loud sound of my voice dynamics falls into the microphone. Companion heard bad at writing, but audible. Better anything than nothing.

Hi!
I've tried several programs and does not work, only my own voice recorded.
But! The original Sony Ericsson 2.1 ROM is fully able to pad sharp 2-Way recording, even with the headset as well.
The 2.2 ROM and the rest is not working
The solution I am also very interested because this function does not only want to stay at the 2.1 ROM.
Sorry for knowledge of English, but translation
Hello guys,
I know this question is pretty typical... but I'm very very very sick of this problem. All programs seem to work at the beginning, but then the other party on the phone can't hear my voice. I tried all guides out there, but they're either incompatible with my phone or get this problem to happen, with which the other party can't hear my voice when talking on the phone.
I have Gingerbread 2.3.3, XXJVK, and my phone is rooted. Please guide me to what I can do about it.
Thank you for any efforts.
Market apps are kind of iffy.
If I recall correctly call recording only worked properly in froyo based roms.

Thank you for your reply.
Does this mean that there's no hope for this to work? is there an updated rom version to which I can update, which supports call recording?
you can easily record call with MIUI rom, this is a built-in feature.
I've tried many roms (did not try MIUI) and none of the recorders worked for me, so I just gave up..
why dont you try MIUI? it works and its exactly what you want.
Is it stable and reliable? could you please guide me to the latest stable version of MIUI? I saw many versions there and I'm afraid I would use an old version.
Thanks.
I have installed MIUI v11 from here

hey TheXDestroyer, if this was urgent you could just pm me. anyways, i dont know y the guy in the link cant record calls. yes, in some countries this is illegal, in others it is legal. in order to record a call, u must conduct a call and activate the function in the call menu (dont really remember the exact name). it is really easy to find this option once youre making that call.

never had any problems with this feature. worked like a charm.

Boldbeast Android Call Recorder
Have you tried on I9000 and everything is ok?
But you should read the small letters on web site ( on google play there is no such warning ):
Boldbeast Android Call Recorder is full featured for free for 7 days. 7 days later it's limited to record only 30 seconds everytime. To remove this limit you need to purchase a Register Code to register your phone. Price: 9.99 USD
And for a list of compatible phones just says 2600 phone, list is nowhere.
Boldbeast is not working with my i9000 with CM 10.1

Not sure if there is a native client, but I know Zoiper works for me.
necroing this here, i just purchased two of these for my kids to play pokemon go. They have FI data only sim cards and typically use my PBX to place calls. The native sip functionality seems to be missing in the settings. I'm considering using a custom rom which will likely resolve the issue, but I've heard of issues with custom roms and pokemon go so I was trying to avoid this route.
Any input regarding the native sip functionality or specific roms for this phone that work fine with pokemon go AND have working native sip would be appreciated. if your reply is about using a third party app, i'm well aware that they work and such comments are not helpful. thanks.

It would be listed as Google phone, not dialer , for some reason. It is in the open gapps package. And there are ways to add the needed framework and just the dialer if wanted.

Great! thanks for running through this! If you're interested in testing sip functionality, PM me and i'll make you a sip account on my PBX. It's US Nationwide calling and Canada.
I'm assuming arm is the appropriate architecture, being that it's an arm cortex a53. I looked through each edition of gapps and I didnt see anything that included google phone. Should i assume it's simply built into any version of Nano and above?

I re-read my post. It was not clear.
I do not have the menu for sip account. So something is missing from phone app.
It is version 10. XXXX
on my other phone(blu life max) running slim-rom and open gapps. The phone app is version 9.XXXX and it has the sip menu
I will try to find the gapps I installed on that phone and see if it is v9 vs v10 that is the problem of missing menu first.
If I get the sip-menu then I can follow up with trying your pbx if you want.

Still same missing sip menu using older gapps with v9.XXX dialer. Must be some stock rom interference with the settings. If camera is not a problem for you then the cm13 port might be an option. OR . The zen rom port has working camera, and has not had too many reviews. I will try to add gapps to that one and see if it has sip menu.
It's not a huge deal, I'll just run csipsimple for now. The kids use the camera for catching Pokemon...

the zen-ui rom has finished and it does not have sip-menu. Installed the gapps on it and still missing the menu.
The slim-rom I have on my "life max" is same rom used to port to r1. So my last attempt is to flash that rom and see.
But my port is not fully working. Audio drops out and camera stops working. But if the sip menu (voip) is there, then it is a rom problem. But if the menu is still missing, that tells me it has to be a kernel problem. All the roms have same kernel.
UPDATE:
yes the sip-menu is shown with the slim-rom port.
so this would be the 'native" option.
I have not spent time working on the rom in a while. I was hopeing for community help to finish. But that has not happened.
My current position with the rom is, I beleive the main issue remaining is the audio/ media server stops and rom needs reboot. This server stop is seen in the logcat. But i do not know why yet. And after it stops the camera server becomes unstable, then it stops.
I have seen , but not tried yet. An app in playstore that is meant for addressing the problem of camera server stopping. It is supposd to be able to restart it with out restarting whole phone.
Im planning to keep slim-rom on for few days or more and explore this app as possible work-a-round
Uninstalling the stock phone app and trying to install Google Phone from apkmirror did NOT work. Don't try it; I was only able to restore a working phone app by restoring /system. Maybe something in build.prop is disabling this? I might look around and see if this is a possibility; CSipSimple works perfectly though if people need sip support, as others have said.

I took on trying to fix my lineage and slim ports because of this sip phone question.
I now have a solution for sip phone on stock rom.
It is same solution from before that did not work, I found so reason it did not work. Blu had intentionaly removed the permission to sip and voip.
so if still interested in getting sip without third party apps. Here is a recovery install zip, that adds the google dialer framework, apk, and needed /etc/permissions
there is warning in the gapps install about adding google dialer that is also relivent here. Default phone app must be set to this goole dialer and also recomend disable stock dialer.
Wow, you rock man! Thanks for your efforts on this!!

and dont change default settings, leave them as it is. then it wil; also record voice of other person on the far end.

Cine Shot (Partial Motion Still Photos) working on LG V30 - APP link & Instructions.
Hey all, been a while since I've had any new discoveries because I have been busy with a move across the country, but I think this one was worth waiting for :good:
This post is a tough one to categorize, as its an "app" and its a "mod" but I also needed to include a little guide to help you all get it working. So I went with the Apps and Mods section, but if an Admin thinks this should go in the Guides section, I am totally cool with that.
Pre Install Notes:
This has been tested on my Rooted & Frankensteined LG V30 ThinQ LS-L998 on Sprint running US99827a software Security Patch Jan 1.19.
I do not know if this will work on non rooted devices simply because I haven't been able to test it on one. I do believe that this will work the same on a non-root V30 but I'll wait for confirmation from one of you... SOOOO if you have a non rooted device and you try this out, please let us know if its working.
Thank Yous:
A big thanks to @trouble. for requesting the G8 stock system apps in the G8 section & thanks to @iknow786 for originally providing the files which I used to make the link to the cineshot app below. If I did not happen across that thread we wouldn't have this new trick, so thank you both. Also a big thanks to all of the awesome folks that have kept the V30 development alive and kicking this long into the devices lifecycle. Very cool to see so many talented people still doing things for this community every single day. I cant begin to list everyone, but if you are active in here, you know who the folks are that have been grinding away at this all this time.
Ok so lets get you CineShooting!
Step 1) Go to the following link...
https://docs.google.com/uc?export=download&id=1Pxy8B1k19Q8ALiHc1FeYUHb3c8y4DnJI
Steo 1a) Download, and install the CineShot apk.
(Im hosting this on one of my drives, so if anyone has issues with the download, now or months from now, PM me and I'll fix it. If its a while from now and you just write "dead link" in this thread I prob won't see it, so that's why I am recommending a PM. )
(Since I have not yet figured out how to integrate this new app into our camera app, you will need to launch the CineShot main process using one of the programs I will mention in step 2. I am including some screenshots for those new to this. Hopefully this post will be updated in the future with how to integrate the cineshot capabilities into the regular camera section, but for now this is what we have)
Step 2) Once you have installed the CineShot apk to your device you will need a shortcut maker program to access it.
Personally I am partial to Shortcut Master, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite&hl=en but other apps like "QuicksShortcutMaker" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en_US (tested and works) should word as well. So if you don't already have one, download one of those two or your own favorite.
Step 2a) Open your shortcut program and find CineShot by either scrolling to it or searching "Cine" or "CineShot". No matter which program you used you should see at least one option under the CineShot app ending with the words ".MainActivity ". Go ahead and favorite or create shortcut for this process, as you'll want to have a quick way to get back to CineShot mode. Now go ahead and click that option and your device should launch into cineshot mode.
Cine Shot Mode - How-To:
Pretty basic stuff here. Point and shoot at whatever you want (objects should be moving in your frame otherwise your just taking a normal picture). It will record 3 seconds. After it stabilizes your "video" it will then show you options to draw with your finger on the moving parts of the images that you still want to move. Do this, and then save. You now have a cineshot image with partial movement of the image.
That's it. Pretty easy stuff. If you followed the very simple steps you should be able to record using either your front or back camera, and cineshot should be fully working, or at least as fully as it can on our devices. Enjoy.
I don't have any fun stuff nearby to post a good example of a cool Cine Shot Pic, so if you guys and gals take any, please share so people can see what the fuss is about.
And as always, feel free to share the love with a click on that "Thanks" button if this post helped you out
*** Reserved for future post - updates ***
Side Note: From that same cache of G8 apks, I was able to get the My Avatar app partially working using the same steps as above but with that specific APK obviously. Unfortunately, while it will take my picture, it will not spit out an avatar, so some sort of framework or back end stuff is not enabled. Anyone that has access to the newer devices with this, if you can find the additional necessary files, we could prob get this working too.
Anyone interested in checking out the G8 stock apps in the original thread I mentioned above can find that thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g8/themes/lg-g8-preinstalled-apps-t3904050
Other apps that I got to install from the g8 are these: Humanavatar (My Avatar) LGContentsettings (Wallpaper and Theme. Not sure what this updates though) and an update to the Tasks app.
Be cautious installing things you don't know anything about. As always, its your phone, so beware, and there are no guarantees yada yada yada.
It doesn't integrate with the camera because only camera apps built for pie onwards have that functionality. Once enabled in camera config files it crashes the camera app immediately.

Any idea why it crashes it? I mean other than it wasnt meant to work. Since the actual mode is functional I wonder if anything is actually missing in the Oreos framework/camera that needs to be there.

The app doesn't have the shortcut built in. Only camera apps built for pie or newer have it. It's not framework. It's just the camera app.

Gotcha. That makes sense.
I'm glad you commented, as I was going to message you to ask your opinion on the My Avatar creation feature I mentioned after the original post. I can get it to snap a pic of my face, and it recognize I'm a person and takes the pic, but when it goes to process and spit out an Avatar it fails.
Since you're a good bit more advanced than I am, maybe you had an idea about what's keeping it from working.

It'll likely be working on Pie. I've made a list things I'm not going to attempt till we get pie.

It installs normally but won't actually produce an Avatar. It trys to process the pic and then it fails.

iIf you use Nova Launcher you can make a shortcut natively by making a new widget and choosing "activities".

APK file
There is a chance we can use modular downloadable camera modes using the same technique
Food mode, 360 panorama, square mode, ar, avatar, etc
We need to get those APK from LG g7/v40 oreo
