THIS IS A PRELIMINARY BUILD; CURRENTLY, WIFI AND BLUETOOTH ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL. THIS BUILD IS FOR TESTING PURPOSES ONLY. I WOULD LIKE SOME FEEDBACK ON FUNCTIONALITY OF OTHER ASPECTS OF THIS ROM, AND SOME ASSISTANCE IN GETTING PAST THE WIFI AND BT ISSUES.

The Sweetner Pack is an ALL IN ONE aroma installer for your CandyKat Rom. It's meant to theme various aspects of UI and Lockscreen. This style of theming was hatched in the Candy Shop threads on XDA developers. It is the foundation of the vision and concept of the Rom. For more mods please visit your devices' Candy Shop thread. The Sweetener Packs will contain exclusive themes and mods just for CandyKat Rom. We will be updating libs and adding themes regularly!

hi
I know this is a testing build and not done but i was wondering if u could maybe port it for t210/r from this if u dont mind me asking
I'll definitely try once I get this one stable.
This rom should also be ported to the SM-T217T :fingers-crossed: that would be awesome...It's nice to see CandyKat on the T217S tho, awesome work
Oh my god! Finally a Rom for Sprint grab 3. I hope you get everything working. I'm so sic of stock. There's really no options. Do you know will this work with latest baseband NE7 once you get bugs worked out?

Can't thank you enough for your effort. This tab has been treated like a leper of the tab 3s for such a long time. This rom installed fine and seemed to work as it should. I've had the chance to try CM11 by eloper. The only thing that didn't work was the camera. Maybe he can chip in as to what stops wifi and BT from running here. I've also noticed a slight flickering which also existed in CM11, which has never been figured out by the dev. That, however, is nothing more than a minor annoyance and hence shouldn't be a priority of any kind. Would love to contribute except I'm totally out of my depth in this department. The only thing I can do is test.

I'll just tell everybody now; I don't do ports. I build from source. Not trying to sound like a jag, just sayin'. If you can get me device, kernel, and other repo files, or a local_manifest from git, I can try builds for other tabs. But, porting is tough and the success rate is low. I'm better at doing it this way.

I don't believe that the baseband version will be an issue, because the ROM is 4.4.4. You don't need to worry about whether you are 4.2.2 or 4.4.2. I could be wrong.

Kinda feeling that way myself. But, after I build Candykat, Beanstalk, and maybe slim for this badboy, I will share the wealth.

Keep in touch then, because as I move forward with this and hopefully another ROM or two, I will definitely need a tester to help with debugging and such. Thanks for your support.
I'll be working on this ROM over the next couple days and the weekend. If anyone has ideas, tips, help to offer, or any other kind of assistance, I am all ears. Hopefully I'll be able to work out some issues and get this ROM to daily driver status very soon. I HATE STOCK!
Stay tuned.....
Always back up your rom
I think it's worth mentioning that you should make a backup of whatever you're running before you flash this. This is a 4.4.4 ROM, and I have read that users running a later ROM version have experienced bricks trying to flash back to an earlier version(for example, flashing back to 4.2.2). DON'T LET THIS BE YOU. Your backup from an earlier version will cause you no problems. Trying to 'downflash' can be a huge problem apparently. ALWAYS BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING NEW... and restore your former ROMs....don't attempt to downgrade....just sayin'....:highfive:

Yes I got my device files from interloper. I am currently running that build on my tablet. Carbon had no WiFi when I flashed it. I have compared the CM build and my own and have not yet found the problem.

Also downloading. Thanks for the port!
Just what I was waiting for. Just yesterday I started trying different kit kat roms but none of them convinced me.
I have a few issues so far:
- I enabled root access but Titanium Bakcup complains that it can't get root access.
- It seems apps now take too much space. I installed 10% of the apps I normally used and they used half the internal memory space. Is this because of ART, which I enabled, or a "feature" of Kit Kat? Do you recommend using ART or stay with Dalvik?
- GPS doesn't work for Slim in 4.3 and 4.4. I didn't try 4.2. To make it work I flashed yagf2 and the expheria files.
Thanks for the awesome rom!
Thanks for you response.
I will include AngryGPS in next build to fix GPS.
Hmm, internal storage is little weird, but i think it is normal, only problem with storage started with installing XDA App.
Enable root acess in developer setting, tick: enable root acess for Apps and ADB.
ART isnt still good working, dont report BUGS, if ART is enabled. Use Dalvik
Thank for you review, hope that you will not change ROM, and keep using SlimKAT
Greetings

Hi all,
Titanium worked again after leaving my phone alone for an hour or so. I also went back to dalvik following your recommendation.
I have one problem so far: I can't install the xda app. I get an error saying it can't install on internal memory or sdcard. I have no idea why this happens. I haven't had that problem with any other app I have installed: chrome, netflix, gps test, and around 20 more.
The great thing about Slim: 100+ MB free in RAM compared to the 40 I was getting with Avatar. Awesome job guys!

You can do dirty flash, so you dont need to full wipe, but some bugs can happend.
For titanium, i already do that, and no problems.
you can try both.
Bye
I can't donwloag gapps!
I flashed without wiping and now I was able to install the xda app.

No rom can be made perfect in a single build.. And hence nightlies concept exist.. When one rom's nightly is out, i work on the other project.. Updates come only when decent and worth updating changes are merged.. So if i work on a single rom, once i build a nightly, i have no work as i cannot keep compiling everyday for single changed merged.. Just trying to give you guys the taste of those roms which are not common and famous in other forums like galaxy notes, nexus, s2,s3 etc..

altough i agree with you for new roms, after 4 or 5 kitkat roms maybe users choose 2 or 3 to keep working..no sense on having 10 kitkat roms..i think AORP and CARBON rom are hard to beat..but we never know..
good work my friend.
Why can't we have 10 Kk roms? This alpha build works very well for me! Its so fluid!
I actually like the PolygonKK 1.2 quite a lot.... I used to have AORP beta and found PolygonKK to be better.
Is AORP 1.2 really such an improvement?
Never installed Carbon since its still a beta....and decided to go back to ICS since i use HDMI a lot for movies and other things.
With Android Tweaker 2 i managed to tweak the kitkat roms quite a bit.....Love that app.
Does anybody know if it will ever be possible that sony will release HDMI sources for kitkat?
Kitkat is a light version ideal fo our ARC S.
If not, would it be possible to create a compatible virtual machine running the stock ICS version of HDMI on 4.4?

we can..for me problem is releasing many roms with same bugs, same base rom and almost same performance..kernel more stable and fast for kitkat roms (arcS)is still 11DarkAnzu20140112.:good:
so what im saying is that i prefer 3 or 4 stable and super 4.4 kitkat roms, than 10 unstable roms and buggy..so far the released roms are pretty stable..so we are lucky..but they are similar if you tested..i ve tested:
polygon kk
carbon
AORP
cm11LX
Omni
best so far for me CARBON, AORP and new Polygon kk 1.2 with aroma installer and good options..so 3 top kitkat roms (beta versions still).
gonna give this a try also this days if i have time..a new 3xx kernel or a optimized one it was a good idea too..surely it will improve all kitkat roms.
We should get @wedgess to work on a new lupus kernel for KitKat.... but it seems he left development on our devices.
I'm on Carbon, and is so good for me: smooth, fluid and customizable like I want.
I don't need tablet UI or expandable desktop...and carbon for me it's the right choice. But this ROM "features" it's very intersting...
I'll wait for screenshots (for view features like UI, and customization/ performances etc..) and changelog of it.
I'll also say THANK YOU VERY MUCH to vishal...vishal spent a lot of his time on these projects, that are all goods in their ways..it's only an user choice which choose.
I'm on Carbon and wait for Carbon next release, with latest cm11 and more...but I'm tempted so much by this ROM... :highfive:

great rom port vishal. everything works great, very customizable ui and interesting tweaks setup...
screen recorder fc's... i'm not able to make this app work changing video resolution... has anyone tried it?
i'd like to suggest AOSB Project (ProBAM ROM) from s3 forum, as a new rom port... just think about it
i ve tested this rom..and its working great..video review on the way.
it seems better than other kitkat roms...very customizable, many options, many tweaks inside rom (user friendly)..amazing job on this..for a alpha version..WOW.
:good::good::good:
ps:just one note..it would be awsome a light blue version.:silly:

Q&A
Why does the status bar change colour and look weird when opening apps?
This is no bug and is caused by a transition effect. Head into system -> interface -> transparency settings and set both sliders to 0%.
Wow, this seems cool ! Any screenshot ? ☺

None from me. Lots of MoKee threads on XDA with lots of screenshots anyway
You could always try the ROM out, I am finding it pretty darn fast and stable.
Edit: About the bug mentioned in #1, as a temporary fix you can replace the launcher with another which fixes it. I will take out the bug in the next build once I find some other things that need improvements

Oh ! Another cooker loving old android edition ?
No 4.4.2 version ?
I would have to say that this ROM is one of the smoothest working ROM's on our device. Just great work. I installed M1 kernel tho
Amazing Job! Really Really glad to see you back here
Cool, aosp. Thanks for the share and work

It's okay. A lot of us expect new things on XDA even if new doesn't mean better. I find 4.3 working extremely nice on this phone, so to answer your question Pycon, you will not see 4.4 from me.
I fixed the launcher bug and updated some apps. I could make another build with those changes, but I would like to go a step further by trying to fix wifi tethering too
It may be only me,I can't download from MEGA

Just tested the ROM.
Amazing job here, nice goodies inside, very fluid and responsive.
Just found a little visual glitch when going to Google play or whatsapp, the status bar color goes from black to grey them black again. Tried to switch to Nova launcher but it persists.
Thank you for sharing your work Natalia. Just keep it up!

I can confirm this, I have the same situation with Nova Launcher, but not a big deal, the ROM as great, I will give it a try
Thank you for new ROM for our phones.
how to switch ext sd with internal ?
Thanks for all the feedback, everyone!
I have been trying to fix wifi tethering by adding several commits related to wifi from @DJNoXD but I am starting to understand just how difficult it is.
I am saying this to you because I do not want to raise false hope. I've tried what I had in mind about wifi tethering so far, haven't had much luck but I'll keep on trying, it is just not that easy to fix.
No idea about your question, @mbaier, sorry but I've never needed that so never tried.
I have noticed the glitch on the statusbar mentioned, thanks for reminding me of it. It happens when opening almost any app and is not related to the launcher. Either a bug or some sort of "transition effect", but I'll look into it. Added it to post #1 too.
Using Nova Launcher is a good idea, MoKee Launcher takes up 15MB, Nova is definetly more light. Even though I have fixed the bug with MoKee launcher, I won't replace it with Nova since, well, this is a MoKee based ROM
Edit: Take a look at post #2 for a "fix". The graphical glitch is no bug
flashed this rom a little while ago, very good work :good:
i will keep testing, right now its working very smooth and i also use nova
Great job @natalya

ROFL, thought I was the only one who actually used that joke hahaha.
So Kayant you made this official legacy device, congratulations!
I have always wanted AOSPA on the 4g, even thought of building it myself, I'm glad you did it.
omg i was thinking everyone is building of cm why is there no aosp builds? and here it comes thank u so much for your hard work.. must ... flash... immediately !
Well PA was my favourite ROM of all times, thanks for bringing this ROM to peregrine. I flashed this this morning, I'd really love to see some of the features that PA offered in 4.4.4., as for now it doesn't really have any customization option.
Thanks Kayant, been using your kernel and is great.
Fellas I'm having a problem with the initial setup.
As soon as the setup screen (the blue one with the language selector) starts, the phone goes back to booting again from the boot animation.
It shows the language screen for about 2-3 seconds then goes back to boot animation. First time I've seen this type of error.
I clean flashed everything...

Is a PA rom, CM based or AOSP based? I've read some comments applauding this rom for the variety it adds, but I have only come across CM12.1 roms so far and if this has bugs from CM12.1 then isn't it too CM12.1 based?
Secondly, SOOOOOOO EXCITED to flash this been waiting for PA for my phone forever but never had a device (too many samsungs in my life) which had any rom. YES FOR MOTO!
Lastly, I know this is listed as BETA but then on the PA website it says it is STABLE. what's the different dev stages for this rom?
Thanks so much for the effort Kayant!

It's AOSP based. Why you will find the same/near the same bugs on every rom for a device is because to build the rom for a device you need something called a device tree - https://github.com/AOSPA-L/android_device_motorola_peregrine
That same device tree is used for all Peregrine roms and contains all the necessary configs, files and such to make a rom boot up and run on a device as such every rom built with the same device tree we have the same device bugs expect ones included by the rom.
Although our device is different in that it also needs - https://github.com/AOSPA-L/android_device_motorola_msm8226-common which is a shared device tree for all Moto G devices as they all share the same hardware for the most part.
Hey guys, how is battery working for you?
Mine is being unreal, just got 3 hours SoT and still have 50% with wave gesture turned ON, but I have the funny feeling that it will suddenly drop to 0, I just hope the hotfix solves it. Just wanted to ask, it seems that the recent fix to radio wakeclocks and removal of p-thread has really done a miracle with my battery and hope yours too.
Kind regards.
Duuh, wrong thread.
I'm having an annoying bug. Everything is great about this ROM but I can't open toggles on Quick Settings. If I keep pressing the WiFi toggle, normally WiFi settings (not the quick setting menu but the settings app itself) should open, but instead nothing happens. This is the same for all toggles (location, screen rotation..) Could you perhaps fix this?

There is no fix because that's how it works in AOSP until that function is added to it which it hasn't been added yet in PA.
Thanks for your answer. Please let me know when this is added because this is by far the smoothest ROM I've tried. CM12-based roms seem to slow down after an amount of running, this one stays smooth. Good job!
probable bug?
The rom runs well on my xt1039, but finding only small problem: I have a bar (disturbance effect) that goes from the bottom to the top of the display. It looks to boot, and not go away.
You help me?

Put your device to sleep for a minute or so and it should go away.
hand wave ambient display
The hand wave feature used in build 14 of @beeeto cm12.1 sabermod is amazing and I was wondering if you had any plans of implementing it into your ROM?
This rom is very good, but as beeto build 14.1, is possible to migrate his kernel to this rom?
This seems to be running really nicely. I've always had a soft spot for PA ROMs and this is working smoothly and I've had no major issues so far.

Tried the commotio rom for the m8 yesterday, it appears that vanir is using CM for the base now which kind of sucks because I'd love to have seen them stick with an aosp base. Still a cool rom though either way.

HI,
Are you confirming that everything works on the Tipsy build?
If so, what process did you follow? Am GSM international
Flashed tipsey m8 alpha v3.0 20151128-1701.zip and then flashed Banks 6.0, gaps and exposed v78-23. After flash and setup, then flashed extreme music mod and Dolby atmos 6.5. Could be your gaps?? Some aren't working I've found banks is the best . I'm using a Verizon model with a T-Mobile sim. Let me know where your getting hung up in the install.
Is this rom rooted?
Sent from my m8 using XDA Free mobile app
OK I got it to boot and so far no problems. I tried Banks gaps and open and many other's. Ended up going to there Google plus community and then there link to there download page for all ROMs by vanir. In it is gaps 60arm-DHO-Gaps.zip . I used that gaps with the build in this thread and it booted and cleared setup with no crashes.
Here is the link for vanir gaps from there community page on Google plus.

As for the question above me asking if it's rooted. All these are rooted whether it has SuperSU installed on boot or not. Just goto about phone, hit build several times to get developer options up and then in developer options about five down will be root access. It's at no be default . You can change it for apps, or ADB, or both. It will prompt you like SuperSU when a app is asking for root permission. Same as SuperSU
