Headphone jack isn't working. - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hi all. Like the title says. My headphone jack won't work properly. If I plug in headphones the phone doesn't recognize them and media sound still comes from the speakers. But, if I power off and plug in the headphones and power on, the phone recognizes them and they work. If I unplug the headphones after that, then sound won't come through the speakers. Any help is appreciated.

This does not provide the needed information to help you at all. What rom are you on, are you on a custom kernel, and what mods have you flashed.

Im on renovate, no custom kernel. it's not the rom. I've flashed several different roms and the problem is persistent. The only mods I'm running is chocolate milk from xposed.

I would flash a stock rom with no mods and see if the problem persist. If it goes away then it is rom or mod related just back up your current rom in case you wish to go back

1. Have you tried another headset?
2. Have you tried to move the headphone connector around?
3. Have you tried blowing in the headphone jack?
If you've tried all of these (possible) solutions, and if the problem persists, go to Sprint and tell them the problem.

Tried all three of those, still doesn't work. Flashed stock rooted Rom, still no dice. Would the firmware cause a problem like this? Just curious, does anybody know what Sprint would charge for this repair. I've got insurance but the deductible isn't worth it when I can just upgrade my phone in January.

I'd say that it's unlikely that the firmware's causing this. No idea what Sprint would charge for repairing; bought this device used in India.

[Q] No sound anymore

Hey all,
So here's what i did. I've been running perception 9.5 for a long time now with no issues until today.
I went to change my ringtone and i was selecting different ones to hear, then all of a sudden everything went quiet. I plugged the phone into the computer and the sound came back for a bit but then it went away after i tried to change the ringtone again.
Now i flashed serendipity 3.0, thinking that maybe perception borked on me, yet i still have no sound.
Any help would be great =)
Try pulling the battery cover and pressing firmly on the speaker when it occurs.. If it fixes it your speaker is coming loose at connection.

Thanks soo much for the reply =)
I did what you said, both when i knew there was no sound and when i set an alarm. I'm not quite sure if the alarm is what retriggered the sound, or if it was pressing the speaker but my sound appears to work again =)
Thanks so much!
Hey,
Is there a perma fix to this its happened to me twice today haha

It's a hardware problem, so I think the best fix would be to exchange it for a new one through your local AT&T store or an AT&T warranty center.
Sorry to keep brining this up.
It seems like my sound only cuts out when sound is being played (naturally). But if i press the app draw icon to make that little pop noise over and over, the sound doesn't seem to cut out. If i talk on the phone, or play a ringtone it does.
Maybe it's software for me?
Could be. You try rebooting yet? Other than that I guess the only way to know would be reflash the rom or go back to stock and test.

[Q] External Speakers Problem

Hi All.
I recently came into an issue with my external speakers not working. They stopped working last night when I tried plugging my phone into my auxiliary to my car. I had thought it was an issue with my cord but now the speakers for both top and bottom are not functional.
You can hear calls but not on speaker.
No music is played and no notification sounds are audible.
I went through the process of reflashing the old ROM - back to the the stock rom and did the audio test *#*#3424#*#* with the results showing that the top and bottom speakers as not working.
Has anyone come into this issue and if so has there been a resolution to this.
My current info:
4.2.2
Baseband: 4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01L
Build #cm_m7att-userdebug 4.2.2 JDQ39E
eng.jenkins.20130813.023452 test key
CyanogenMOD
10.1-20130813-NIGHTLY-m7att
Kernal: 3.4.10-CM-g25d8fee
Rooted: S-OFF
The headphones dont work now either. ive looked everywhere and havnt seen any other forums or members with this issue. anyone know of a possible solution?
If flashing a stock Rom didn't work, I would try running a RUU.

Can you revert back to the original ROM?!
if that didn't help take it the the service center since it is still under the warranty but be careful to revert back to stock ROM and s-on ,other wise it will not be accepted and the warranty will be considered as void.

Has it always done this? You could try flashing a different kernel. There could be something stuck in the port? :silly:
Are you rooted?

Hm, it could possibly be a hardware fault. All I could suggest is to try flashing different ROMs, performing full wipes before flashing. And checking the MD5s. Maybe try rebooting with the headphones plugged in?

it cannot be hardware fault because i check if there are "forced output" through software calle "sound about", it basically pushes forecly the sound through aux even if it's not detecting if something plugged in. so i had output..
so what should i do?

A similar thing happened to my old Desire HD. Turned out there was dirt in the headphone jack that built up over time, the connection was still good so I could force the sound to be diverted to the headphones and it worked, but the phone wasn't detecting the headphones.
I had to carefully clean out the headphone jack using a pin.
Apart from this, I'm not sure what else to suggest
well i though it might be a hardware issue, which i try to clean it, but it still didnt help, so it's only sofrware bug, which somehow denies access

I too am having this problem. I was having a problem with the charge port, so I opened the Note up and touched up the solder joints on the board. The charge port works great now, but I am exhibiting the same issues as jennyngo24
The microphone element may have gone bad or gotten wet. It can be replaced but not easily.

Sorry your mic broke. Flash the stock firmware using the Odin files found in the general section. Then you'll be unrooted and can return your device for warranty.

From what I have read, there are 2 mic's one at the bottom on the charge port board and one on the flex cable that also has the home and volume buttons as well as the mic. If the mic works when the speaker is on, which would you suggest is bad?
Thank you ver much for your help. Will do so?

Speaker noise (click) after root

i´ve a very annoying problem
i´ve noticed that after rooting my phone, probably it was there before i dont know
ive xposed installed.
after some sound output the speaker make some noises for 3-5 seconds and at the end comes a "click" noise.
The speaker turns on and then off. this happens when i press the back touchbutton or take the pen off.
no matter the phone is muted or not. it happens always.
ive looked around and couldnt find a solution.
i hope someone could help me so pls :crying:
One of your xposed mods might not be playing well with ROM. So either remove xposed or try a different ROM.
BAD ASS NOTE 4 + BAD ASS GEAR S
i removed xposed and it didnt helped.
did you think another rom would help?
nothing helps
ive installed tow custom roms and this **** is staying like a stalking girlfriend
dont know what to do anymore
its very annoying....

It'll do it if the ROM you installed has a volume mod. If that is the case (using a sound modded ROM), flash a stock volume file. You should be able to find one in the OP of the ROMs' thread.
i tried 2 custom roms and 2 stock roms.
but the issue stays...
should i still flash a different volume file?

At this point it's best to Odin back to NK4 and see if the problem still exists.

do you think it would help changing the speaker?

I agree with Odin unrooted stock. I am wondering if u wiped fresh before installing ROM. After that it be time for an exchange unit possible blown speaker.
BAD ASS NOTE 4 + BAD ASS GEAR S
probably i should exchange the unit...
it sounds like an aux signal coming in.
beyond that, the speaker works fine
but still very annoying.
so, did u guys really hear nothing?
i mean when u mute your phone and then go to phone and press a number u can hear that if you put the note next to your ear....
did someone of you have a tutorial for installing a new speaker modul?
If u gonna replace the speaker I think u wasting ur time. Maybe whoever had phone before just messed it up bad.
BAD ASS NOTE 4 + BAD ASS GEAR S
the phone was new and im not going to replace the speaker after this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSLtVr6mvus
impossible for me
If you did everything that's been told to u in here then it is hardware issue
BAD ASS NOTE 4 + BAD ASS GEAR S
so i should go to a store or what?

Store won't give u a new one. U have to call tech support and tell them ur ear piece is crackling. They gonna tell u to wipe phone first. So make pretend ur doing all the steps. Say it still doing it and they will send u a replacement. Make sure u bring phone back to stock first before sending it back.
BAD ASS NOTE 4 + BAD ASS GEAR S
okay but the knox counter is still not null then ....
You have to do a factory reset, as well as Odin to stock.
i know thats not the problem
my problem is the knox counter
it wont be 0 after doing a factory reset and flashing a stock firmware with odin
did they exchange either?
