Ok, I appologize in advance if this has been asked before. I have a galaxy note 3 rooted running stock 4.4.2 and a galaxy gear running stock latest upadated rom. I was able to side load apps to the galaxy gear watch using cmd, and adb. I installed fleksy keyboard, an sms client and the phone face maker onto my gear. I check to send an sms and all the uploaded programs are gone. I reboot the watch, they temporarily appear and disappear again within seconds. What am I doing wrong????
Also does anyone know the cmd, adb commands to uninstall these programs. Example: the command to install is
adb install C:\Users\home\Desktop\keyboard.apk. What would be the uninstall command. Thank you so much for the help

hi ,
firstly,
i have same setup as you ..Note 3 rooted stock v 4.4.2 and Gear 1( rooted ,Null 23 rom ,I don't have this problem now. )
the issue with apps" disappearing " is an old problem on Gear !
I personally think its Samsungs way of trying to put you off from sideloading other apps ?
However ,the apps you installed is still there !.and work 100%(if you reboot Gear it should show in apps section for a short while and then disappear )
They just don't appear/show in apps list /programs list
If you want to you can install old previous version of Gear manager (..i think around Gear manager vers 1.5.x.. ? or before, that did not have this problem )There is a thread with all Gear manager versions, in Gear forum .
Further, is it not easier to install/sideload apps using Wondershare MobileGo for Android (you can Google for free 2 week pc version and install on your pc ,connect Gear to pc, it will install the Wondershare app, (drivers) automatic on Gear )
Afterward just install/sideload apps from pc to Gear.
Good luck
Thank u so much for your help!!!!! I figured out last night that it was my gear manager that was causing the disappearance of my apks. I installed the apk ggsms client on my watch and phone and the fleksy keyboard on my watch to be able to respond to sms directly from my watch. So if the apk disappeared i couldnt get to the ggsms to respond to the sms. This is what i did to so far fix the issue. I formatted my watch back to stock and uninstalled gear manager from my phone. Did the whole nfc and blue tooth sync to my phone. Once synced i went ahead and installed fleksy and the ggsms on my watch using cmd adb on my comp. I then installed the ggsms server on my phone. I then uninstalled the gear manager from my phone. I then synced my watch anf phone again via bluetooth which gear manager to download to my phone. gear manager opened did its thing and to this point both apks remain on my phone remain. I will do what you recommended if this fails me. Again thank u for your help!! Question, why root the gear? Benefits?
Ok, I opened, reluctantly, gear manager, changed my clock, to see if i would loose the apks and they still remain.. So far, so good. I have plan B, which is your method, if my method fails.

hi ,
just to answer your question on root ?
one off the most fustrating points of Gear for me, was to toggle bluetooth on and off and to see battery stats ( at a glance )
Bluetooth toggle was "hidden " in settings !( Yes, i know you can swipe down on screen ,but you cannot toggle switch )
Take a look at my screenshot( i set widgets to about 50% transparent ..top of screenshot left is bluetooth toggle ( i tap to switch bluetooth on and off )
Also battery stats /level top right..tap on it and i see my battery stats
O ,yes to switch screen off, i double tap screen ..!!
and to see my notifications ( sms , emails... etc ) i double press the Gear button !
Further i have Nova launcher( Prime ) on Gear ( which i have been using for years on phone )
I have set cpu clock speed and get very good battery use
Between 15../20% with moderate use a day
So i can easly go 3..4 days? ( if i want to )
Good enough reason to root etc ..
Side note ,
i have been on Tizen and back ,just plain boring overall ( that compared/said ... if you want the most out of your Gear ,my advice is to stay on Android )
Battery usage on Tizen is the same, as i am getting on Android ( depends, what combination ..phone /Gear )
Good luck

Thanks again for the response.
I have always rooted all my devices to unlock the full potential of the phone. I can see why it would benefit rooting the gear. I had also been using nova launcher on my phone for years and installed it onto my gear but had a problem where the clock wouldn't display. I would try to add the clock widgets from the nova launcher widgets menu and would get an error that the clock was not installed. I gave up, lol and went back to the stock launcher. The ability to toggle blue tooth as well as battery life with the ability to over clock, under clock is awesome. Great job!!!
Again, thanks for helping and guiding me with these issues. You have helped me tremendously!!!! :highfive:

hi ,
yes ,
if you are not rooted you can install Nova but ,you cannot use any widgets/wallpaper .
To get the full potential of rooting etc ... your Gear ,was the reason i flashed Null 23.
As it added basic full Android settings ,and cpu undervolting ( i set my cpu between 200 and 800 mhz and as stated getting very good battery life on Null23 . Must point out ,if Null installed, it is normally set, with both cores unlocked and at 1600 mhz ,but battery life takes a hit .)
Null comes with Nova/Apex( free version ) pre installed ,but as i had the Nova Prime( licence ) version on my phone ,found a post here on xda on how to transfer( my Nova Prime licence ) from Phone to Gear .
(i mention above facts ,if you one day try /flash Null)
Good luck

Hey Guys I have a factory Note 2 and just bought a galaxy gear the other day. I have seen reports of this watch working with the s4 and even the htc one. Can someone help me get this thing working with my note 2? I found the .apk file online and was able to download and install it to my note 2 and successfully connect the gear to my note 2 via bluetooth but the gear seems to be stuck on the spinning screen. It will take and send calls via the phone and work as a bluetooth head set but that's all. Thanks again in advance for all the help!!!
Not sure it is currently working with gn2. I think you will have to wait for 4.3 like the rest of us. The clock working on it? I have the gn2 as well and been waiting for someone to mention they got it working. If you got it to sync I assume you got the clock at least working.

Will have to wait until November for 4.3 on N2 Unless someone will root Gear earlier
After playing with it for a while I finally got it to work with the apk file posted on another thread here. CONFIRMED the galaxy gear works for the factory 4.1.2 note 2. Unfortunately so far the weather, contacts, notifications and svoice doesn't sync with the gnote2 but everything else seems to work.

No problem! Glad I could help I can't wait for the update to take full use of the watch but until then im satisfied with how much it'll do. Good luck with getting it working for your device!
Same place as you currently but glad it isn't a paper weight waiting lol. Wonder if we change the device specs like how you can install Google wallet. If we do this wonder if we could access programs and stuff for the watch also.

Yea I know right lol I dont know. . . I could be worth a try but I think the phone needs the 4.3 update for the new bluetooth compatability. I can honestly say that I'm kinda of disappointed that Samsung hasn't released the 4.3 update for the s3, s4, and note 2 already.
I wanted to confirm if anyone else was looking that the problems described (

As of right now with stock (NOT ROOTED) NOTE 2 here is a summary of what I have working:
Working:
Camera: Works, syncs on any settings correctly (charging sync only etc)
Timer: Works (doesnt need BT for any function)
Stopwatch: Works (doesnt need BT for any function)
Voice memo: Works, syncs on any settings correctly
Gallery: Works, syncs on any settings correctly
Pedo: Works (doesnt need BT for any function)
Schedule / Calender: WORKS, I've heard others having problems? Mine does sync with my events.
Contacts: WORKS, I've heard others having problems? Mine does sync with my contacts. Settings also change (Choose all contacts or just favorites)
Logs: Works, syncs on any settings correctly
Not Working:
Weather: does NOT work. Gear wants me to change settings on widget / within gear but still doesn't sync weather (displays "no info")
SVoice: does NOT work. Same as weather, wants settings changed in SVoice but still doesn't relay info.
Notifications: Does NOT work. Nothing will push to the Galaxy Gear for a notification (email, sms, google, FB, etc)
As for the apps, I can navagate into the gear manager, select apps, go into the market where the Gear apps exist and attempt to download however once they begin to install I get an error "try later" (0). All gear apps (not included in the gear manager) are not available to me. Not sure if they can be downloaded on the side as .apk's and used? I can't find any to try.
Sidenote: The BT seems to be functioning normally, I get auto detection and maintain pairing all day.

I just picked up my Samsung Galaxy Gear this morning I own an S3 and a Note 2 but yesterday after trying in vain do download the Gear Manager app from the Samsung Apps Store from my desktop browser there it was in the search but it is only available for download through Kies. When you plug in your device, Kies asks for the Android version, won’t accept 4.3 and if you type 4.1.2 then the gear manager app disappears from the search.
I downloaded the apk from xda instead and it installed perfectly on both my devices. It turns out that the Gear and gear manager work properly with the exception of Notifications, the Weather and S-voice. With S-voice you get prompted on the gear to accept the terms of use agreement on your mobile but it does not appear on your device screen so the s-voice use on the gear does not continue. Notifications and Weather update doesn’t work but everything else does.
Cheers!
how dit you conected your gear whit note2??

Note 2 + GG
I've searched every day for anything released that allows GG and Note 2 functionality (I.E. notifications weather etc) to work fully. Nothing still ... anyone else have any luck?
just curious to know why some have rooted their gear. especially with the latest update that gives improvements. just got the watch and still learning it but might be tempted to root if there are reasons unbeknownst to me that improves the watch even further
I rooted it so that I can put null Rom on it. That really opened up the watch for me.

Rooted for adding a theme. The stock icons look like crap and wanted to sideload apps for ringtones, music, videos and notification sounds.

I did just to try them null rom. After that I regret it. Although I didn't know you needed root to Install ringtones thanx
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
I rooted it to put the Null_ ROM on it, because it looked really nice from the screenshots, and also I thought if i ever wanted to get a non Samsung phone then this would be the way to do it.
However it's not all it cracked up to be.. for the most part for the Null_ ROM extras to be useful you need to have bluetooth internet tethering enabled on the phone which will drain more battery on both devices, and if it disconnects you have to dive into the settings on both to enable it again. all the cool stuff where the phone just tells the watch about things (eg notifications, events, weather, contacts, etc) via bluetooth require a 4.3 TW ROM on your phone, and can be done without the Null_ ROM.
You also lose the double tap power button to open S-Voice, but this might be fixable by disabling the "Power button mod", whatever that is. I haven't looked too deeply - I have just setup a Nova gesture where you double tap the screen to open up S-Voice.
I think my watch looks nicer now with the ROM as you can choose wallpapers, but in my Nova dock i literally just have all the original apps that came with the phone, and the main widget is one of the original clock faces (the event one), i only have a second screen with a shortcut for going into the settings in case i need to enable BT internet, and a battery widget (which i can see by double two finger tapping the screen anyway).
I think the minimalist text widget that fOmey has in the screenshots on the Null_ thread look awesome, but they're just not useful enough. The next event widget is exactly what I need (apart from the time), and the ONLY way you can have a next event widget without requiring internet on the watch is to use the built in widget. If you're gonna use the built in widget, why flash a different ROM at all?
ahh .. anyway. I won't be flashing back to stock, but if i had my choice again.. i dunno if i'd bother.
i put root and null rom on it so i don't have to return it to the store.
even after gear manager updates, stock watch is a overpriced notifier on your wrist.
after rooting it i customize it the way i want it, i have access to mostly used apps, i can use apps that were not designed to be used with gear and much more.
i dunno, wanted root. i feel powerless without root
rooted every device since my gs1. And i know myself enough that i know that at some point i am going to get bored with the stock rom, and will start to customize the things i dont like.
then i want to know how;
the clock functions,
to get out of bootloops,
to simplify the process of adding apps not officially supported.
to theme elements.
to flash custom rom
to revert to stock.
now im prepared
Question, do you have to root in order to flash the recovery and null? Or I can just flan both without root? Also how do you return back to stock? Thanks in advanced...
Sent from my SM-N9005 using xda app-developers app
Mainly because of NULL rom. For me, without it Galaxy Gear would be useless! (and because after my first root, I root all devices, it gives to you the real power of the gadget!)

I rooted to flash null as well and the only thing I like about it is you can record in 720p. But I don't see too much advantage since my tmobile note3 doesn't seem to have bluetooth tethering option so I can't take advantage of any null app that require data. Didn't like have Nova Launcher as it's just too small of a screen to do anything. That's why I bought a note3 as I wanted a bigger screen. So I mainly use tw on the gear. Besides the 720p recording and seeing all the extra app in the app list is cool but not a necessity. But I'm going to keep it like this for now.
Also forgot to add another advantage with null is shutter sound is gone. You can also achieve this without null but you need to root.

Guys, I just have my new Samsung Gear after christmas, it works very well, still happy with battery life (around 3 days). Though I miss having a keyboard to reply SMS / Emails, or do some web search.
My question is...
If I want to keep everything as it is;
- default Samsung stuff, default clock widgets
- default auto Bluetooth connection (at least Gear <-> Note 3 do that automatically...)
but* I want to:
- install a keyboard to normally reply my SMS/Emails
- do some simple websearching, with Opera / Dolphin, etc. (My phone has BT teethring)
Can I do that just by roothing my device?
the Gear is really a device that RECEIVES things - notifications, updates to display, etc. If you want to use it to SEND things, then you'll really have to root it and put on the Null_ ROM. With this you can enable bluetooth internet tethering, and the Gear can get full internet. With internet you can install apps like an email client and a keyboard (these actually come with Null_), and respond to emails etc on the Gear. Note: it's very fiddly using a keyboard on the Gear, even with swype style input.
Also regarding SMS, this can't really be done on the Gear as you would expect. As the Gear has no SIM card, you'd need an app on the Gear to talk to your phone and tell it to send the SMS.
But, you can actually do this via S-Voice. So if you're happy talking your SMS to the phone (which isn't too bad in my experience), you can get S-Voice to use your phone to send an SMS.
I rooted mine because I wanted to be able to start my car from my watch, along with hooking it up with Torque to see my times. Being able to add wallpapers is nice too

Thanks for answering Omniwolf. Well, Gear is bidirectional, when you take a picture, when you answer an SMS via premade SMS/S-Voice, you are communicating Gear <-> Phone.
My goal is not to have an independent clock like "simvalley MOBILE AW-414.Go Smartwatch", but a little more than what Gear allows in the moment.
For example:
- Answering SMS only through premade SMS...a tiny keyboard option would be fantastic! S-Voice does not work for me, it works on yours???
- No option to quick answer Whatsapp/E.mail
- When I take a picture I cannot send it through E-mail/Whatsapp (option is disabled........)
- No google translate or something like that is possible with keyboard (there is an app that uses the camera but is far from practical...)
So, in theory I just want a Gear + Keyboard + SMS/Whatsapp/Email answer option (S-Voice does not work on mine! I have a Note 3 stock Samsung Android 4.3) + Google Translate.

I answer texts with svoice all the time. Does svoice work on your device? I've used it to call a contact, narrated a # to dial, and responded to texts.
I can honestly say that there is nothing missing from my stock gear that I wish I had.

I think you can use tablettalk for that

Thanks for answering Omniwolf. Well, Gear is bidirectional, when you take a picture, when you answer an SMS via premade SMS/S-Voice, you are communicating Gear <-> Phone.
My goal is not to have an independent clock like "simvalley MOBILE AW-414.Go Smartwatch", but a little more than what Gear allows in the moment.

yeah, i know the Gear can send things to the watch, it's a BT connection with is bidirectional. My point is that without rooting, the gear isn't designed to send things, it's more of a receiver. 90% of the things done on it are incoming, not outgoing. Sure, all photos go the other direction, and using S-Voice you can create a bunch of things on the watch, but it's the minority.
I think i've alread answered all your other questions, so i won't rehash (more), but it really seems like you want Samsung to add a bunch of outgoing functionality to the watch, which is fine by me, i think a lot of it would be useful.
Yes S-Voice works for me, make sure it's installed and usable on your phone before trying it on the watch.
To free myself of Gear Manager
BT tether + tablet talk = profit
So worth it...
-Null ROM's feature set
-Bluetooth internet tethering (from a U.S. carrier stock ROM with BT tethering option nuked)
-Use with non Samsung device (probably going back to Nexus soon)
S voice is way too limited (even worse on the watch). Google Now and Internet access makes the watch worth the price tag. 300 bucks with a little research and now I can say "Can your Rolex do this?" So worth it...

I answer texts with svoice all the time. Does svoice work on your device? I've used it to call a contact, narrated a # to dial, and responded to texts.
I can honestly say that there is nothing missing from my stock gear that I wish I had.

I wish S-Voice worked for me. It doesn't hear me well and I keep getting "I didn't catch that" even when I just want to confirm to send a text.
It gets frustrating.
Here my guide for an incredible battery life with gear 1 updated to tizen and my LG G3. For incredible i mean about 10 - 15 % for day( not an heavy use and motion feature disabled), always connected with all notification ON ( whatsapp, hangouts, gmail....) :
1- uninstall gear manager with all related apks and reboot;
2- install this gear manager;
3- pair the watch with your phone and check that all works correctly;
4- uninstall goprovider and install this
5- re-enable the notication access in phone settings;
that's all.... i also installed this app that works very well and gave me some custom watchfaces...
With the above configuration i have a really good battery drain... always connected i lose about 1% - 2% max for all night.
credits to @mpogr for the modded goprovider...

Like i said i updated my gear to tizen... If u do that the notification will work out of the box.
With null i used atn and worked but the stock notification system is a way better IMHO. This is the reason why i decided to update to tizen

I'm going to try this with a custom rom for my Note 3.
And how are working the calls ?
For example if you answer with your phone, does the speaker switch on the Gear or not ?
This happened with non TW Android roms and it is so annoying...
Does it work on cyanogen?

Nexus 4 working
i've got this all installed and setup exactly as you show. i have tizen and the gear manager you do. the phone and watch are all connected but when i go to gear manager i only get the option for phone as notifications. there are no other options. any ideas?
I'm thinking I'm messing up step 5.
I assumed I go to
1. Gear manager
2. Notification
3. Gives me the apps compatible
But there's nothing there
×××××××××××××××××××××
Found it.
1. Settings
2. General
3. Security
4. Notification access

Curious. Since I know you have a g3 as well. Have you found anyway for the gear to still work without having bt voice on. I have a bt headset that I can't use unless I turn off my gear. Really annoying.
watch faces
Hello,
I have an LG G2 and i am waiting for my Gear 1 to arrive. I am curious as to MultiWatch or WatchStyler will work with my G2 as i want to install more watchfaces from www.gearfaces.com ?
Hello,
This works very well!
On a different note, has anyone had any luck installing apps on their Gear with Tizen? If so, I'd love to know how. I mean, at least I am unable to use samsung apps on my Nexus 5.

Nope for now... Sorry
Recently I had to do a factory reset on my Note3. It retained Root ok, and I used Titanium Backup to restore everything. Afterwards there were two things that no longer worked one of which is: Notification are no longer being relayed to my Gear1. Other data is being relayed: example - the weather appears correctly in the clock; apps like RunKeeper and Vivino work properly, S Voice works fine, alarm clock messages appear ok - indeed everything works fine except that I no longer receive any notifications.
I've done the obvious such as checking that notifications are turned ON in Gear Manager, and I've done the less obvious such as uninstalling PushBullet because some say it intercepts notifications at a very high priority level, but still I get no notifications come up on the Gear 1.
I reckon that most of the value I get from the Gear1 is in receiving notifications.
Any ideas and suggestions most welcome.

What app are you using on your phone for text messages? What's the other problem?

I'm using the standard SMS app that came with the Note 3 - I've not installed anything for SMS.
The other problem is that Tasker and Secure Settings between them are no longer able to turn the Pattern Lock ON/OFF. There are several combinations as to how this can be done. Normally I use the one based on the Xposed Module, but I've tried all permutations and some report an error attempting to turn off the Pattern Lock, and some don't; but either way they don't succeed.
Out of interest, I did the factory reset because my Note 3 for some reason suddenly would no longer stay locked onto my home WIFI - it kept dropping off and using up my data plan. I tried loads of things to get around that but nothing worked apart from the factory reset.
I had a Titanium Backup of everything, so I did the reset, checked I still had root (which I did) and then restored everything with Titanium Backup.
Afterwards all was seemingly OK but not the Notifications to Gear1, and not the Pattern Lock switch.
I tried the following to get around the problem but none of the ideas worked:-
Freeze all of the KNOX modules
Uninstall Pushbullet (I had read somewhere that it makes a very high priority grab for your notifications)
Uninstall the Gear software and go back to a really early version of Gear Manager. That didn't change anything, so I'm back on the latest Gear Manager now.
Cheers
Steve
Forgot to say - pretty important really - it's not just SMS notifications that are no longer coming to the Gear 1 - it is ALL notifications.
Apps like RunKeeper, Vivino, TasGear, Samsung Voice etc all communicate properly but NO notifications whatsoever arrive at the Gear 1 any more.
Cheers
Steve
do you have a problem with saproviders application? freezes or something, or battery draining on Gear ?
I have a Galaxy S4 DUOS , and rooted SVA rom and i have a high draining on Gear and no notifications from SMS/MMS application.
My GalaxyGear is unusable - it discharges after 5-6 hours
Maybe root on Phone or different Rom is responsible for that ??
I don't think I have a problem with th Saproviders app.
Battery life has always been 2 days on my Gear1. However since I've turned off the arm movement detection it is managing 5 days on a charge.
Presumably you've tried doing a reset on your Gear?
Cheers

At the beginning i don't have this problem.
I don't know when its starts (maybe after update Gear?)
.....
Yes - reset Gear and S4 - no improvement
reflash rom for S4 and gear - no improvement.
After install gear Manager , when Gear connect to the S4 I have a notification "application saproviders has stopped"
sorry for my bad English i hope that you understand what i am trying to explain.
I'm in agreement of the likely cause of the gear manager problems with kwiatki75. I'd clear cache and data then uninstall saproviders. Before launching gear manager which will then reinstall saproviders. It's definitely been discussed somewhere in this forum. If that doesn't work do the same with all the gear components leaving gear manager to last then fresh install gear manager.

As for secure settings..... I don't use any kind of lock screen but I do use secure settings to remove the key guard opening the phone. I've found you have to do some specific things to get the tasks to work.
A1 secure settings screen and lights on (I use 5 sec a2 will function immediately)
A2 wait 1 sec
A3 secure settings key guard disabled
A4 wait 1 sec
A5+ your task
Last A secure settings enable key guard.
I think your advice is sound. Before reading this I used Titanium Backup to restore SaNotifProvider and its data back to Jan 2014. That fixed the Gear Notification problem.
System Settings ought to work as I've not changed my previously perfectly working Tasker scripts. However I notice your suggestion indicates forcing the screen on and waiting 5 secs before attempting to disable/enable the Pattern Lock. I'll give that a go and report back what happens.
Cheers

The first action is just screen on time. It doesn't affect the speed of the action. I'm not even sure it adds to overall screen on time. The wait (under task) are 1 sec. I think the task description is something I posted maybe in tasgear......
My previous Note 4 supported this feature so I was surprised to find that the always listening toggle didn't appear in the settings in my new phone.

hi ,
first of all, i had OK Google working on my Win 10 laptop and Note5 device .
No problem ,it was working with screen off always listening.
On my device i use my Nova Prime launcher settings to access my OK Google settings ( see screenshots) .
Then about a month ..maybe 3 weeks ago i saw on a Win 10 forum/and other forums , that Google has disabled always listening on pc/laptop.You have to click on Google search mic button now on pc /laptop for response .
In the meantime, I also joined Google beta testing for the Google search app .So i am using Google search app beta's .I have now also noticed that even though Ok Google works fine on my Note5 ,always listening ,does not work anymore.with screen off (??)
It does work otherwise ,from lock-screen , any screen , app and has " limited functions "when offline ...etc (Works very smooth no problems )
I suspect that maybe always listening has also been disabled on devices .(.not sure as i am on Google beta's )
good luck
For best performance of Google now listening should we freeze the Samsung Always Listening apk(sp)?

hi ,
firstly ,if you start freezing apps /process you must make sure there's not going to be any " knock on " effect.? ( Problems with functioning of phone ) .In the past ,i was very quick to freeze apps /processes ( with Titanium backup ) Then later , have endless issues eg. force closing of certain apps independent on that app /process .!!
I am sure the above Samsung Always listening apk, could be dependant /connected to S Voice or it could it also be needed for OK Google to function ?
I have stock Rom ,no root and have disabled S Voice with system Application manager .
i have not disabled the Samsung always listening apk .I am using OK Google no issues .(so i am not to sure ),but would not advise it unless you are sure that there will be no knock on effect ?? ?
The choice is yours .
Only you have the "power" to decide if you are going to ..freeze/disable it .!!!!!
good luck

hi ,
No not anymore. and yes ,i also used to activate it with screen off ( no issues then)
OK Google ,activated and woke up (screen off ) on my Note device ,even when i then used
OK Google command , for my laptop !
I had these two devices responding to my command simultaneously and i started to get confused........
........,which device to use !!!
I still have the same "setup" /settings as before .
Overall ,OK Google is working very smooth ,wakes up like 99 % of the time .
Just a side note .
I am subscribed and receiving beta versions to Google search( OK Google)
.,so i am not to sure if this will has a influence on workings of OK Google ..
should think so , being beta releases .
The laptop i know for sure ,OK Google always listening ,had been disabled by Google (about a month ago .)
You have to activate the mic button( in Google chrome ) to work .
So i suspect, the same happened with the phone .( always listening with screen off )
good luck
