[Q] Adding a new APN to Droid Bionic - Motorola Droid Bionic

I'm in Japan and I bought a data-only SIM card (B-mobile) for my Droid Bionic (unlocked).
To use it I have to add the B-Mobile APN to my phone, which I was able to do through the hidden menu (##program), however I don't know how to make my phone connect using that APN. There are dozens of APNs already in there,how do I make it use the B-Mobile APN instead of the default Verizon ones?
There is no APN settings category under Settings>Mobile Networks so I simply go through the settings menu either...

just curious how did you unlock your phone?

Captivate + No data plan and still keep MMS?

YES I HAVE USED THE SEARCH BAR.
I have a rooted captivate, custom ROM.
I do not use a data plan, I usually just remove the APN.
My question is.. is there a route that can be taken where I can still keep my MMS? A long time ago I remember an APN program had a check box that said 'keep MMS enabled.'
I am just curious and would like to find a way.

If you'd like a way that doesn't require an app or widget (depending on rom*):
Settings > Wireless and network > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > ATT WAP
Change the last setting (APN type) from "Internet + MMS" to MMS
*Apparently, this depends on settings in the ROM. When I was on Firefly, I was able to change the settings, but can't change them on Fusion. However, you should be able to duplicate the settings of the default APN and switch to your new custom APN.
The toggle data widget would upgrade me to a smartphone plan.. Right?

[Q] OG Droid MMS PagePlus Help

Hello All,
I'm trying to get a stock Verizon OG Droid to work on Pageplus.
I activated it recently and the 3G data and text messaging seems to work just fine but picture messages/mms aren't received nor sent ...
I assume this has something to do with a apn settings or some options, any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
Pete
You have to create a second APN for MMS in addition to the mobile data APN.
You should be able to find the necessary information in the help pages of your provider - or use google.
Interesting thing is i have tried sending that phone smaller pictures and it seems to receive them, can this be a MMS size limit issue ?
How does one resolve this ?
I am not sure if the APN would cure this problem anymore or has anything to do with it...

I'm pretty sure there's a size limit on MMS too.
Usually the picture is resized when attaching it.
Perhaps i should check the APN settings because it seems very flaky still...
I could not find out where the settings are on this phone, can someone point them out to me ?
Thanks,
Pete
Settings > Wireless > Mobile network > APNs > press menu key > select "Add APN"
Something like this - I don't have any stock 2.x devices to check...

[Q] Can't change MMS APN

Hi,
Phone rooted and using TrickDroid ROM. When I ran the setup configuration only my parent network was available (on T-Mo UK and only had the option of choosing EE).
This worked fine for data although I couldn't send MMS. I've added an additional APN for MMS which I believe to be configured with the correct settings however in the APN options I can't deselect the original APN for MMM e-zone as it shows the padlock icon.
Does anyone know how to unlock this APN so I can use the newly added settings for MMS?
I have the same problem on stock.
I added a new APN for my carrier's MMS. saved it, but can't select it or deselect the original.
Would really love it of someone could resolve this as its driving me cwaaazy

How to edit APN in att?
it is grey and not allow to change.
Even I add new apn, it will change to old apn automaticlly.
How can I fix it in the new apn?

You should be able add a -new- APN, then once saved, you can set the new APN active. Just name it something different from the default APN.....like MY_ATT_APN or something.
If you continue to have issues, I'll check my friends X to see exactly how I did it. I put his AT&T Moto X on H2O wireless (which requires adding an APN).

I have add a new apn and saved it. After a while I went back to check the setting, the new apn is still here, but the system choose the old apn automatically. Can I detele the old apn or force the system fix in new apn?

I find the method. It needs to type "default" in the "apn type" otherwise the system will change to old apn itself.

Edit the APN config

Greetings,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
You folks are way more advanced with phone mods than I am so I've never had anything useful to contribute. I've learned a lot from reading and re-reading, but now it's time to ask my question.
I bought a Droid Turbo from an on line reseller. I put it on my account through my regional carrier(Cellcom, Wisconsin). Voice in and out worked, data worked, SMS in and out worked, however MMS didn't work. After a bit of tinkering I found out Verizon cripples the phone by not allowing the APN configuration to be changed when used on another carrier's network. All the fields are greyed out, and there is no option to add another APN. I was hoping to use this phone on my contract with Cellcom, and have the ability to put in a GMS SIM when we travel to Canada. Everything else works great with the phone, just the ability to add or edit the APN config when on a non Verizon CDMA network.
The question(s):
1- If I Mofo root the phone(it's KitKat 4.4.4) and then flash the original Quark image I found by following several leads, will I be able to edit the APN .xml file(apns-conf.xml) through the phone or will that remain a protected system file?
2- If my only option will be to edit the APN config file before I flash to the phone, what(Windows) program can I use to extract the image file? I tried using ext2explore but it keeps crashing before it completly expands the entire files. What(Windows) program would I then use to recreate the image file in the format the phone needs?
I pulled the apns-conf.xml file from the phone. I can see the Verizon fields I need to change and I have the APN settings for the Cellcom network. I'm just stuck on getting it back to the phone.
Thanks
Hmmm. From what I came to understand, is that you *could* edit the apn once another Sim was insert. Apparently my understanding was in correct.
Tapped out from my Motorola Droid Turbo, featuring Android 5.1. Please pardon my brevity.
The ability to edit APNs was always greyed out no matter how I tried.
Went back to the store with a second phone; a Moto X Pure- got the same results- everything works except MMS.
After a lengthy phone conversation with Cellcom customer support today I learned they(Cellcom) flash something to their inventory phones that permits MMS on their network.
I now have a brand new Moto Maxx XT1250 which is identical in specs to the Droid Turbo XT1254. I picked this one up through Amazon. The Moto Maxx is the the Cellcom equivalent to the Verizon Droid Turbo. Since this one did not come through Cellcom, I'm told it most likely won't do MMS. I was told I could take it to one of two Cellcom service centers so they could flash whatever config they use, but there still would be no guarantee of 100% compatibility.
Ah well, I guess if I want to continue with Cellcom service I have to get my phones through them.
I got the APN to work with Cellcom.... MMS works again! Android 6.0.1
The facts:
Moto Maxx XT1250 from Cellcom (Wisconsin) not Israel
CyanogenMod 13.0-20161221 (Andriod 6.0.1) because Cellcom stopped supporting the phone and stopped at Android 5.0.1
All this broke the APN so no MMS. Called their support and they gave me the APN settings. However when I entered the MMC and MNC it broke again.
The fix:
Go into settings and find your APN modifications.
Locate the VZWINTERNET APN settings or make your own and modify it to these settings:
Name = Cellcom
APN = VZWINTERNET
Proxy = Not set
Port = Not set
Username = Not set
Password = Not set
Server = Not set
MMSC = http: // mms.cellcom.com/ cellom /mms. php ( Do not have spaces. XDA won't let me post this as it thinks it is a link. Put this as one line!)
MMS proxy = Not set
MMS port = Not set
MCC = 311 (this is the default, do not change it, this is what will break the APN profile. Cellcom Says to make it 310 but leave it)
MNC = 480 (this is the default, do not change it, this is what will break the APN profile. Cellcom Says to make it 600 but leave it)
Authentication type = Not set
APN type = default,mms,dun,supl
APN protocol = IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol = IPv4/IPv6
APN enable/disable = will be grayed out and cannot be modified
Bearer = Unspecified (you must turn off all the others and only check the box for Unspecified)
MVNO = SPN
MVNO value = Cellcom (this will auto populate when you change the MVNO to SPN)
Press the 3 dots upper right and click save. Reboot and enjoy MMS again!
I tested with the Cyanogen messaging app, Googles Messaging app, and Google Hangouts and the all work sending photos and multiple people texting.
Now will this work for other handsets or ROMs? I do not know. Please reply to the post with your results.
