I just saw this video on youtube, but I'm kind of afraid to sideload this after the virus scare last week.
Vid
If it's legit, I'm totally loading it up.
[EDIT]The link goes to a Megaupload page and the file is called app.apk
Looks a little suspect to me, but they guy in the vid has the XDA app, so who knows.
This app needs flash i think? Basically searches for shows on video sites like megavideo, frogmovz, etc.
Your best bet for streaming TV and Movies on the XOOM is going to be PLEX, in my opinion.
IF you only have a Windows based computer to host the server on then you will only be able to stream what ever local content you have at present. The Windows based server for Plex is still very much a work in progress.
IF you have a Mac to host the server on then there are many plugin available such as Hulu and Netflix, to go along with local content.
At present PLEX will give you a video subsystem error if you attempt to play video on the XOOM. I know for a fact that the XOOM is being worked on by the PLEX devs, and we should have a working version out in the near future.
I will post here in the Xoom Apps section as soon as we have it ready for our lovely new toy.
tv shows
tv show streamer needs flash to work. you can find that in the market. Check out my youtube video on how to get free tv shows and movies
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ2TaHQSLhA
also check out jetflicks at the market .
It works fine on my Evo 4G. Scanned with Lookout. All clear. Don't know if that means much but yeah. lol
It works like a charm too.
Hi
We have opened a testing request for the aplication "TV Shows Stream" and "Tv Shows Stream Lite"
The testing request thread is here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=977194
And the main thread aplication is here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903351
The aplication need flash player installed. It will play the videos from megavideo and other streaming site that are using jwplayer. The aplication is working fine in all 2.2 / 2.3 android flash capable tablets and in most of android devices with flash.
Any info will be welcome, thanks in adnvanced.
The app looks and functions fine except it wont actually play a video.
It will give me the message "Megavideo will load in a few seconds, please wait" and then just sits there.
If I touch the menu button I get the option to "Close Browser". If I touch the screen, it shows the progress bar at the top and loads the Megavideo site.
If I use the Karambavidz link it plays sound, but no video.
Frogmovz gives me the message to "Tap play and let the video load", but there is nothing to tap. The screen is black.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
We are working in an update that will be released soon, probably before monday that allows karambavidz and loombo links to be played without using flash player, using the android native player. Those links should work fine.
For the other links, you can email yourself the link, copy it, and open it with "Dolphin HD" browser (free on market). It has been reported on Xoom forum that they can use the links if they use in this way. I know is not a good way to do it, but is a temporary workarround.
More info soon in the application thread, we are working right now on the update, its almost finished.
Regards
Hi
TV Shows Stream v3.0 has been updated now (the lite version will be updated on monday likely), clean the market cache if you dont see the update.
Karamabvidz and Loombo links can now be opend with external player. (the android native player, rock player, vplayer or any other that you have installed on your device.
We will be working on how to improve the other video links performance over xoom in the next weeks. For the other devices flash 10.2 is working fine. (flash 10.2 is beta for honeycomb) .
Please,, report if the karambavidz and Loombo links works fine on Xoom using "External players" option. Thanks in advanced.
regards
anyone try out jetflicks? Its pretty much a membership to a website, but many many different shows to choose from. They seem to keep up to date pretty well. Dont pay for the application its only a link to their website.

The new Hulu Plus app just came out and I've got a gTab with the following in the about tablet section:
Model: TnT G-Harmony
And 2.2
Tap UI version: TnT G-Harmony v1
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-00000-10.8.2-dirty
Build: FRF91
I've used this as my daily for a while. What do I have to do to get the tab to be seen as compatible with Netflix and Hulu Plus app? new build.prop? Thanks in advance.
Not sure if it fully works as I don't have an account to log in with...
However, it did stream the "free gallery" on my Gtablet running CM7.03.
Netflix definitely works on CM7.03.
I do not see them in the Market but they have both been posted around. For Netflix I just download it on my Droid (supported device) and transfer it over to my Gtablet. For HuluPlus, Droid-life.com has the app.
I've got the apk, but I get 'Device not supported' post install. Could you just try the install to see if your build is supported/no errors?
I'm searching for my new daily build and wondering what's best combo for flash, netflix, hulu plus now and video playback in general. Want to stick to Froyo I think until HW acceleration is better implemented on later versions. Also, I see baseline 1.2 and Caulk+Clem for best kernel. I'm not advanced but can follow the steps to drop a new rom on. What's your opinion and could you point me to a solid daily rom noting above?
Like I said.....it installed and I was able to stream the "free gallery", I just can't log in to see if it gives all/full functions of those with an account.
Running stock CyanogenMod 7.0.3 (stable)
It runs fine for me without any noticible issues. I didn't have to modify the build.prop or anything else; just installed it without any tricks.
I just watched an episode of The Daily Show and it ran great. The video ran much smoother than watching it via the hacked Flash file via the Hulu website so I'm thinking the video player in the Hulu Plus app plays video modified for mobile devices unlike the Hulu website.
Here is the apk. Enjoy.
Note: If you have videos in your queue that are tagged as "web only" then this Hulu Plus app will not play them. So I would recommend keeping the hacked Flash for Hulu so you can watch them via the web browser.

For Netflix I used the latest version from the Market and it works great without any build.prop mods. Same for the Hulu Plus app (see my previous post for apk). I'm running CyanogenMod 7.0.3 (stable) haven't tried it on my VEGAn 5.1.1 gTab yet.
It definitely works on Cyanogen 7.0.3. Got Netflix, Hulu+, & Flash on my tablet now.
If Plants vs. Zombies wouldn't lock up & it would boot up faster, I would have reached tablet nirvana.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
For Hulu+, I see it in market using the mahimahi string in my build prop and the device set as olympus on a froyo rom based on calkulin 1.1. I too get device unsupported when launching.
For PvZ, you can get it working, but need froyo and this kernle: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128866

Thank you for this apk. It works flawlessly for me on Vegan GE. With the netflix fix posted earlier in the link below, and now this hulu plus app I don't ever see me needing to leave Vegan GE. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15147560&postcount=13
so is there any way to get hulu+ working on froyo
hulu+ on Flashback 10.1
I've managed to get around the "device not supported" problem with hulu+ app working on flashback 10.1, but the video shows up in the bottom left hand corner with the top half of the vid cut off. I've tried setting the resolution of playback to every setting. I also tried different density settings for the display, nothing seems to be able to move the vid to the center of the screen. Anyone having the same problem? Anyone have any other ideas on how to get the video to the center of the screen? Sorry if this has been covered, did a search here and in the general questions sections, didn't see anything, I hope i didn't miss it...lol
I haven't tried it on Flashback but even if it works for you perfectly it will still limit what videos will play (only ones tagged "mobile") on it based on what agreements Hulu has with the content provider.
I stopped using the app on my gTab almost as soon as I installed it when I realized that I can play everything (tv, mobile, computer) Hulu has to offer via my browser and the hacked Flash for Hulu unlike the Hulu Plus app.
Just my two cents...

I don't think you missed anything. I've tried everything you have tried. The video doesn't move. I assumed that the app thinks this is an ASUS tablet which has a higher resolution. I tried editing build.prop but nothing has worked. Hopefully the new kernel will correct this for us. I cut off cable because of HULU and would like to have it on my tab as well. Just tired of looking at Froyo and Gingerbread.
up and running
Well i gave up on getting flashback to work right. Flashed CM7.1 and i have the hulu+ and netflix working...now onto get the hbo go and max go apps working.
XBMC works fine on my Nook Color, see details here: http://fineoils.blogspot.com
Has anyone got XBMC working? I installed the correct files from the link. After the initial loading screen, I just get a black screen. Using the 1/6/13 nightly. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine is 1/4/2013, but if it's not later than 1/12/2013 I think it doesn't matter. I also don't use 1100 kernel which was a reason for too much sorrow with apps, especially with 3rd party apps. For the XBMC on Android, there are some self-help forums popping up. Then, a good XBMC installation may take quite a time for online updating of video add-ons at the first start. Mine get stable after maybe 5 minutes. Every second start and launching other (new) add-on (apart from obvious 1Channel) takes more time.
Then, MX Player should be installed and tuned up first. It also should be started and exited prior to launching XBMC.
Then, tons of streams may not be there at a given time, or at all.
XBMC also works fine on my Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1010 (WiFi-only model) running Irish Gingerbread. No HW rendering though.

Has any of that been integrated into the XMBC nightly, or do your directions still apply for the latest nightlies?
I didn't use XBMC nightlies, I used xbmcandroid.com unofficial build + NEON MX Player of (I think) mid-January. They might have some better builds in their main trunks, but I don't believe these offer anything of HW rendering for TI OMAP3621 as it's above our SoC capabilities once the stream has above 480p resolution or too high bandwidth whatever hits first. Some 720p streams/static files play good enough (22...27 FPS) in SW decoding mode, but that's it, end of a story for poor Nookie.
I might be interested in XBMC-Android + BS Player combos once there will be indications that BS Player can buffer/decode better than MX Player.
TI OMAP3630 in my SGT P1010 is totally equal to Nookie in XBMC handling terms, and there's not a single line of code in GB Android for IVA2 that is replaced with something better in CM10.1 (JB) that I run now in my Nook.
This app turns android device to a Chromecast receiver. As far as I know, this is the only Android Chromecast receiver besides Google's own implementations.
It supports YouTube, Chrome browser tab mirroring, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies, and screen mirroring. Most 3rd party apps using Google Cast SDK should also work. Yes, it works on Amazon FireTV boxes and sticks, and other major brands of Android TV boxes.
This is the trial apk, which has full features, except this current apk will expire on Feb 29, 2016, so hurry up !

Hello huisinro,
App installs OK and looks very pretty.
When I try to cast to it from an Android Phone on the same wifi network it doesn't show up at all, also tried using the Chromecast Setup App from other android phoes too.
EDIT : Tried it on a LG G3 (d855)
Thanks Rob.
Did you try the screen mirroring from the Google chromecast app? It will search for the receivers.
You may need to reboot the router.
Any news on a Amazon App store release? Would love to buy your app but need to buy through Amazon so I can use on my Fire TV and other android devices through their app store.
Still working on a version for Amazon store release, look like it will be next month.
Great, thanks.
Would love support for amlogic devices. If you need a guinea pig im happy to help. Have also bought the paid version hoping support will come one day and help development
I have a Minix X8 and X8H, which are amlogic running Android 4.4, they are working fine. What is your AMLogic device model?
Its a vigica c70t running 4.2.2.
Ok, AMLogic before android 4.4 is notorious in not supporting low level Media Codec API, which is why not working .
I will see if I can use a software decoder.
Can you check if Google chrome browser works on your box?

That'll be what my MX Box needs too, if you recall. Really looking forward to the possibility.
YouTube app works on mine, not sure about in the browser. I'll edit this in a bit after I've checked.
Edit: Tried with https://youtu.be/azV0Y7v6wsg - definitely works in both the YouTube app and in Chrome, but not when attempting to cast it from another device. @huisinro
Apk updated , fixed iOS YouTube crashing issues
Thanks for the update. Did you install the chrome browser from google play?

Chrome works fine. So does netfix hulu youtube plex
What is the error when you cast YouTube to your box with YouMap? black screen?
I get unable to play video. Please choose anouther. But other apps that cast video i get a black screen with sound. But when i push the back button i get video for a second befor the app closes. Could it be an issue with stagefright on my device. Ive done a bit of research and most of what ive found points to that. I dont know much about it though
Sent from my SM-G900I using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, it's to do with Stagefright low level decoding APIļ¼ which AMLogic does not support.
When you use amlogic boxes, does YouTube casting work? What about chrome tab mirroring? What about android screen mirroring?
Thank you for the great app!
I have installed Youmap Chromecast receiver into my Android settop box. where the result is strange. When I enable the Youmap receiver, all of my phone can't find it. After rebooting the router, my Nexus 4 can find the receiver only when the Android settop box connected to router through LAN cable. If the Android settop box is connected to router wirelessly, none of my phone could search it.
In the above successful case, the Nexus 4 can find and cast the screen to the Android settop box (procedure: Setting > Display > Cast screen > Select YouMAP (XXXX)). Although Nexus 4 and my Android settop box support Miracast, I'm pretty sure Nexus 4 is connected to the settop box by chromecast as I didn't enable Wireless Display and the search result clearly stated YouMap. On the other hand, the cast button didn't appear in Youtube app. Moreover, I tried it on my Moto G 2014 and it didn't find the receiver (procedure: Setting > Display > Cast screen).
Device list:
My Android settop box is MiBox 1S with Amlogic 8726-MX running Android 4.4
Nexus 4 running stock Android 4.4
Moto G 2014 running stock Android 5.0
D-link DIR-655 Wireless N router
I have a Android BOX TV with classic Android 6 version (no Android TV).
Is possible add Chromecast Build-in function like on Android TV?
I would like to cast my video to Android BOX. I don't want use app like AllCast because I want use cast button from youtube, spotify, ... and select my Android BOX like a Chromecast device. This is possible in Android TV.
Is possible add this feature in a classic Android version (with root)?
Hi, I installed the built in version from apk mirror to my TV box nexsmart D32.
Now , cast appears in config , but my mobile doesn't see it.
I'm near haha but my phone don't connect
