Kill KIES in task manager on PC. Sometimes it makes a problem. It does not matter on what ROM you are, Download mod should work, unless USB connector is broken,

Download these USB drivers. Before installing, uninstall Kies and/or Samsung USB drivers currently installed, download CCleaner for Windows and after installation run it and clean Windows registry through this program. To be sure, reboot your PC then install downloaded USB drivers and retry

Yes, with help of @AntaresOne
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612540
Flash that, than CoCore kernel, than ROM. And keep some 4.4 based ROM in case you did something wrong - that you can go back to it. But you better find a way to use Odin.

So, long way?
1- Download CoCore kernel zip, HarshJelly v 1.00 ROM and HarshJelly v 5.2 update. DON'T UNPACK THEM, copy directly on device's memory or MicroSD.
2- Power on your device in recovery mode: press and keep pressed Vol+, Home and Power keys and release only Power when you feel the vibration.
3- In this menu do "Wipe data/factory reset", after go to "Mounts and storage" and do "format /system", then "back"
4- Now select "install zip from sdcard" and first choose CoCore kernel, then choose HarshJelly 1.00.
5- Select "Reboot system"
6- Wait some minutes, if you have done all correctly you should see device configuration wizard.
7- Reboot again your device in recovery and this time install HarshJelly 5.2 without touching anything else than "install zip from sdcard"
8- Select again "Reboot system"
HarshJelly ROM is TouchWiz based, this means that is a custom ROM based on Samsung's stock OS
EDIT: I forgot to tell you to install this before step 5!

So, let's begin. Follow instructions below to install latest cwm recovery in your galaxy mini handset.
Make sure you have got Gingerbread OS on your galaxy mini : Upgrade to GB if you don't have.
Download Odin Multidownloader v4.38 for GTS5570, Tass_v1.ops and latest Clockwork Mod Recovery if you do not have them already. You can download them from here.
Run Odin Multi downloader v4.38 and select the Tass_v1.ops by clicking OPS button.
Select One Package Option and Click One Package button and select the recovery file name (CWM-5.0.2.8-Touch2-yagya.tar.md5) file you downloaded.
Leave other settings to default (i.e. don’t change any other options/settings)
When you are done reboot your phone in download mode (Press Volume Down + Home + Power button to go to download mode)
Connect your phone in download mode to your computer via USB Cable.
When Odin detects your phone (If you see a com port number written in yellow background at the top left, then your phone is detected. View image.), click Start button.
Wait till Odin finishes the job (approx. 3-5 minutes) and when it reports ‘PASS’, you can disconnect your phone.
That's all. You have flashed latest CWM recovery on your device.

I know it's easy flashing an update directly via CWM recovery. I just posted these since many people asked me to do so.
I guess some users still prefer flashing recovery via Odin unlike you or me.

Because you are using stock rom. You need custom roms like CM7 for this to work properly. You can get one at http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com and then try again. It will work nicely.
I got an error:
"cannot open the usb serial port. code: 2"
what should I do? Disconnect the phone or wait?
Thank you all.
You will need to close Samsung Kies if you have it installed otherwise install USB drivers from Samsung and try again.
Thanks for your help yagya.
I have rebooted the PC, reconnected the phone and everything worked out perfectly. Now I have CWM installed and running .
Just one question, if I reflash stock ROM on the device trough Kies, will it get rid of CWM or will I still have it?

[Q] How to Upgrade to custom rom (ICS/JB) via stock recovery.

Hi to all!
My note is running stock GB XXKL8 and want to upgrade to custom rom (ICS/JB). I cannot use the PC odin since it cannot detect it due to faulty usb port of my note so my only option, FOR NOW , is flash via CWM. (will send it for repair next year). It seems stock recovery cannot flash custom rom because it show signature verification error.
Please advise what to do. Thanks.
Are you rooted? if not then root using any of the given methods for GB. then you will get CWM. then you can flash any rom

I'm not rooted that's why I'm having this problem.
There is a way around. Keep in mind that this will install an ics kernels and you phone won't boot normally. But you should have access to recovery. Do at your own risk.
Download the rom file you want to install and download philz kernel ddlr9 zip file. Place the kernel in the ext sd card. Boot into recovery and choose update from ext storage. Browse for the kernel and install it. Once done power off the phone and reboot into recovery again. This time you should see PhilZ CWM. Now you can install the rom you downloaded.
faulty usb port on your Note 1? booo, that's not good.
hopefully it's not your Note 1...have you tried a different PC? Maybe the USB on your PC doesn't connect to your Note very well? (and use the original micro usb wire that came with the box as well.)

It is required that the zip file in external sd card? It seems it cannot detect my external sd card so i copy it in the internal sd card but it shows error: signature verification failed.
As the usb is not working, very limited options out there.
I wonder if there is philz kernel for kkl8? maybe that should work to avoid the signature verification error.

Yes, it's GB kernel. Even though it's safe for brick bug but don't have root and cwm.
for cwm there are other kernels and supersu.zip and busybox that can be installed to get root.
But not via zip in stock GB recovery. Doesn't Chainfire have an app that uses exynoss exploit to root phone?
Found it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297
Edit: download the app and tap on it to install. You will have full root and then be able to use mobile odin to flash cf-root or abyss kernel. From there you can do wipes and flash ROMs safely. Good luck:thumbup:

hi shoey63, thanks for your tip, I tried the app but it shows error saying my firmware or device not exploitable. It also breaks the camera. Now I cant use my main cam anymore!

Hmm,.. best it to flash a stock ICS rom and install philz kernel from recovery and get root

It just show a notification that my device isn't exploitable, so it is weird that my cam was affected after installing it. The installation may have injected some codes or files that makes the camera break. When I open my main cam it shows camera failed. Hope Chainfire can fix this or there is some work around to fix it. Right now I can't even use a PC to reflash it due to my faulty usb port.

[Q] Cannot install CM11 and TWRP recovery on S3 mini

Hello guys!
My goal is to have Android 4.3+ on the phone.
I'm trying to install CM11 on GT-I8190. I follow the instructions from Nova fusion. After flashing with Odin the phone doesn't boot. I just see the logo of CyanogenMod and that's it....
When I enter the recovery, I see a stock one: Ansroid System Recovery <3e>... But CM11 ROM from NovaFusion already comes with TWRP recovery!
I already tried to install CWM and TWRP recovery separately via Odin. But it doesn't have any effect.
What can be wrong with the phone?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. Writing this post for the 3rd time.. When I try to preview it, I have a token problem and all my writing is lost....

Some s3 mini's can't replace the stock recovery with a custom recovery so it means you have to flash it manually via root access.
1. Go back to stock ROM. Simple download a Firmware from sammobile.com/firmware and flash it via odin3
2. After that root your phone with vROOT. How to install it on your PC and how root your phone with vROOT :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459910 (enable USB debbuging first before you start rooting)
3. Download "ROM manager" from Google play store and install CWM recovery
4. Download "TWRP recovery 2.7.1.0" from NovaFusion : novafusion.pl/download and flash it via CWM.
4. Download latest CM11 Version and flash it via TWRP recovery
(do a nandroid backup first to avoid mistakes and don't forget to make a factory reset otherwise your phone won't boot and will stuck in bootloop)
5. Enjoy CM11
If you have questions or problems, then let me know

I've already installed stock ROM (UK version)... I8190XXAMJ2_I8190BTUAMJ1_HOME.tar.md5 But I downloaded it not from the website that you suggested.
Anyway, after flashing stock rom the phone works, but I cannot copy any file to the phone... Windows 7 says: "Unrecognized USB device". Maybe I installed the wrong version of ROM? I am sure it is for GT-I8190, but maybe the country is wrong? Does country matter?

Thank you very much!!!
I took another Galaxy S3 mini phone (I have 10 of them)... And my laptop can recognize it. So, I've managed to root the phone, installed ROM manager and then installed CWM, TWRP and latest CyanogenMod!
So, with other phones that I didn't touch yet I plan to do the same procedure.
My country is Russia The origin of the phone might be something else...
The first phone is still not recognized by my laptop. Other PCs don't recognize it either.
Just to remind what I did to the phone before it became like that:
Using Odin - installed CyanogenMod 11.0 (following simple procedure from the website)
It didn't load, so i tried older versions of CM and tried different recoveries with Odin...
It didn't work. Using Odin, I installed stock firmware GT-I8190-UK I8190XXAMJ2_I8190BTUAMJ1_HOME.tar - Android JB 4.1.2 (from sammobile website)
And then I was happy until I realized that my laptop now doesn't want to recognize the phone. And the phone doesn't want to recognize my laptop.
May be this info will be helpful to find out the origin country:
When I type *#1234#, I see the following:
Code:
AP: I8190XXANC2
CP: I8190XXALL2
CSC: Unknown
When I type *#06#, I see:
IMEI: 3547840580817xx / 01 (BTW, in russia you cannot track a phone by it's IMEI... this technology is not implemented in this yet)
Maybe I should try flashing 4.1.1 instead of 4.1.2? But I couldn't find 4.1.1.

[Q] bootloop in cyanogen 10.1

a few days ago i dropped my galaxy s2 in the toilet(dont laugh) so i went to using my brother's old s plus I9001.
long story short,i tried to upgrade the 2.3.3 to a 4.2.2 Jellybean using this guide : http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/4579...alaxy-s-plus-i9001-android-4.htm#.VAWoGfmSzGA
i searched a few other guides beforehand,most of which stated that i need a rooted phone,so i rooted it using a guide i found on this forum(here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001)
this is everything i did :
1. Connect the Galaxy S Plus to your computer.
2. Unrar the CM 10.1 firmware RAR file you have downloaded
3. Copy the CM 10.1 firmware you have extracted from the unrar file to the SD card of your phone.
4. Turn off the Galaxy S Plus.
5. Reboot the device into Recovery mode. Press Volume up + Home + Power keys simultaneously. You can flash this ROM using the stock recovery or a custom recovery app.
6. In the Recovery mode, select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition."
7. Then select "install zip from SD card" and "choose zip from SD card." Search for the firmware you have copied on the device.
8. Select the firmware file and install it.
9. Go back and select "reboot system now."
so everything went well, until i tried rebooting the device.im stuck now at the cyanogenmod logo.basically i have a boot loop isue.
being a noob at these kind of things,my first thought was that my phone had bircked,so i followed an unbricking tutorialobviously,it didnt work.
can you please help me solve this bootloop s**t? :good::good:
First of all flash TWRP (Recovery).
Then download CM 10.2 from here and copy it in your internal SD card.
Boot into Recovery.
Do a Data & Cache wipe and finally flash CM 10.2.
Optionally: Flash Gapps (Google Apps)

Do a Data & Cache wipe and finally flash CM 10.2.
Optionally: Flash Gapps (Google Apps)

Then download CWM Recovery and try it again.
Remember to flash TWRP after that.

but i cant get cmw recovery on my phone if i cant acces the memory :/
try using Aroma File Manager here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108 it won't install to your phone, it's a temporary file manager that you flash in recovery.
the problem is that i cant copy anything on my sd card, because my computer doesnt recognize the phone anymore after flashing twrp

Flash CWM Recovery using Odin.
Read this (How to install ODIN Version).
Download the following:
Odin
CWM Recovery
AriesVE.ops
If it still doesn't work I suggest you to go back to stock and repeat the procedure.

Make sure the Samsung USB Drivers are installed. Also uninstall/disable KIES (if it's installed).
i did that but it didnt work.i found out that the computer only recognizes my phone when it's in download mode,so i can only flash through odin.currently trying to flash cwm,but it beats me.currently trying to return to a stock rom, will post updates

My phone is stuck on twrp after failed flashing 12.1 cyanogenmod

I followed all the steps to flash a rom onto my s3 mini. See this picture to see the problem: http://postimg.org/image/j4invhd0v/ I can transfer files using adb, but when i boot the phone, it goes automatically to TWRP. And when i try to flash the rom, that thing in the photo happens, basically my phone is gone now... Please help, this is quite urgent.

in twrp you can also fix permissions. It's in advanced or some menu like that. Good luck!
It says failed to fix permissions.

I would try to delete as much (wipe) as possible from your phone to make it work again. Wiping doesn't remove your recovery. Or flash another recovery tar if you can get into download mode.
install odin on windows pc: http://depositfiles.com/files/m2n77b1vc
install samsung drivers on windows pc: http://developer.samsung.com/technic...000000117#none
get cyanogenmod 12.1: http://novafusion.pl/
get the odin version
when mobile powered off, hold volume down, home and power button. You get the downloadmode option on your screen, let go all buttons and press volume up button.
Now connect the phone to your pc with the usb cable and let odin find it.
Load the tar file in the downloaded zip file as pda and flash it.
If you want clockwork mod, install this as tar, also in pda flash option: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95887005526789241
If your samsung doesn't work but you can still get into download mode, view next page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2122548
and install a fail safe firmware according to your type of phone.
What I don't understand is why the flashing went wrong, I did everything right, at least I think. Wipe everything and flash the rom, why didn't it work?
