4.4 Disable quick settings tab? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any way to just disable quick settings altogether?
I was able to freeze the What's New via Titanium Backup, but I don't see quick settings anywhere in the list.
When I was on 4.3 and unrooted I just removed all the toggles and it didn't bother me too much. But now I have an empty tab.
I would use it if it weren't so limited. I can change a handful of settings. Would be useful if I could truly customize the quick settings. If I could open a much used app or run a tasker profile. Power toggles and the like working much better for me.

It's part of the launcher I think..
You will need to install another ROM that enables you to customize what you want

No, it's built into the system UI. You can remove it if you know a thing or do about modding.

Torch light 1.24 widget runs in background + has lots of permissions

Hi,
I was using the task manager that installs with Go Launcher EX to have a look around and noticed that the torch widget/app that came with the stock GB install was running in the background. When I killed it, it restarted automatically and when I checked its permissions it had pretty much free run of everything (see pic - and that doesn't show the lot).
Now, I may be being paranoid, but this setup looks very suspicious for a simple torch app - anyone with more experience of such things care to comment.

Block those with Droidwall.
I don't understand why stock music player on ICS (and may be on GB too) can read email attachment, sms/mms ?
Yes, weird. I've actually frozen it with Titanium Backup and installed a free widget from the Play Store.

Notifications wake up the screen option missing

Hello;
Not only am I new to the Note 5, but Android too. I come from Windows Phone (a Lumia 1520).
I can't find the option to have notifications wake up my screen. Supposedly is under Settings -> Sounds and Notifications, but it is not showing for me. See the screencap.
I downloaded Glimpse Notifications, but I figured it should be a stock option? Also, is there a way to increase the timeout for the screen when Glimpse Notifications turns it on?
Oh, I followed dlthe de-bloat and de-touchwiz guide from the General subforum. Used the basic xml to disable packages. Don't know if that's related.
Thanks for any guidence!

Hi,
If you use these toggles a lot (which you should), a quick edit now will make your life easier.
Organize the quick settings
Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-toggles
1. Pull down the Quick Settings and tap EDIT in the top right corner
2. From here you can drag the toggles around as you like
3. There must be at least 5 toggles in the Quick Settings
TO remove unnecessarily apps
Let’s do it.
1.Open the app drawer to see all of your apps
2.Long-press on the app you’d like to remove
3.The app drawer will close and you’ll see an option for Disable or Uninstall
4.Drag the app to the trash can
If you would like to revive a disabled app you can go to Settings > Applications > Application manager. Swipe over to the Disabled tab and find the app.

Remove search bar in app drawer/revert to older app drawer.

At some point today my phone updated and changed my app drawer to some new style. I don't care for the search bar at all, its useless to me completely. Is there any way to remove it, or revert to the older one without rooting?
I also would like to remove the recent apps or whatever that is at the top.
My phone did this after updating Android System Webview. I sure I hope I can revert it back to the OG look.
I don't think it's the Web view. I guess I'm going to have to find another launcher
I've had a system update for a few days now, after webview updated I tried opening the app drawer and it's now different, and I have yet to install the OTA.

Huh..You got vertical app drawer and i didnt..HOW??
I'm guessing you're running the Android 6.0 dev preview? Looks like Google Now on Tap.

My phone is bone stock, not rooted only ota updates from Google. No dev view anything.
your google app has updated, try going to settings > apps > google app and uninstall updates, should let you revert to an older version.

Lenovo Z2 plus(India) bloatware problem !!!

Earlier I was using moto G2 that had a stock android and I was able to disable all the google bloatware that I didn't use. Now I bought a new phone (Lenovo Z2 Plus) which has a slightly customized ROM (Almost looks and fells like Stock) and I am not able to disable apps. What could be the reason?

See the disabled option White'd out ??
The reason is the manufacturer and Google do not want you to disable them, also Lenovo says the ROM is specially made keeping in mind the preferences of Indian population, and I think we do use the stock Google apps (lot of people I know do). And is there any reason you want to disable them?

Are there any means to disable any app without rooting?
To disable there apps, you´ll need root.
There are at least two different app-directorys in the android system. apps in one directory can be disabled. apps in the other are "protected" and can´t be disabled/removed without root.
Some of these apps in the protected folder are requierd by the system to work. Still there are also many unnecessary apps protected and i can´t understand why.

Question Google Clock not sounding timer

Is anyone else having issue with google Clock, I set the timer and it'll just go past without any sound, the alarm is fine but not timer
I had the same problem. You have to disable optimize battery usage for the app. Go to settings, apps, special access, then optimize battery usage. Change the filter to all, find google clock, and uncheck it

"Optimize battery usage" is not an option on mine under special access, running Android 12.

Possible known issue with the app?
https://www.androidauthority.com/google-clock-app-bug-2
Android 12 optimise battery usage steps:
1. Goto Settings
2. Goto Apps
3. find the app you want to change settings for and click on it
4. Goto Battery
5. Select Unrestricted
When I had some problems with Google Clock, I just did a reset in the settings, and it fixed, and if it doesn't help you, then read more about it on the Internet. I'm sure someone will help you. Although, considering how many people here have already written you different ways to solve your problem, you can use their information and help yourself. To be honest, I rarely use Google Clock, especially since the most important thing for me right now is to know Precise time in capitals because I work for a company that sells airline tickets. I hope I have helped you, good luck to you.
