Hello.
I just unlocked, rooted and S-OFF my HTC One M7. Now I am looking for the ROM that will suit me best.
I dislike HTC Sense, so I just want a vanilla Android experience. The first thing I did was to install Google Play Edition ROM (KitKat 4.4) from HTCOneroot.com, but after updating to 4.4.3 it started to have a whole pile of problems (constant graphical glitches, some apps+widgets not working, apps freezing, ringtone problems, etc.). It's basically unusable now, so that was a massive waste of time.
I'm nervous about installing custom ROMs because I can't be sure of the stability and I'm also a bit paranoid about what all they may be doing behind the scenes. Plus I don't want to have to be flashing new updates all the time. So what I'm really looking for is just a stock(ish) ROM I can install of 4.4.4, that I'll have no problem doing OTA updates with.
If someone can recommend one they've had good experiences with, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

The best stock(ish) ROM to receive OTA is the stock ROM. In fact, it is the only one that will receive official HTC OTA!

hi,
I just made the switch from my old galaxys to the one. Naturally I firstly want to get rid off all the bloatware and get a clean Android phone without sense. Checking out the various options, I noticed, that apparently some HTC features, like Beats support and the image chip will not work anymore on a custom rom. Is that true for all roms or are there any 4.4.2 CR or GPE roms, that include these features?
Thank you guys
Tobi
Well, on CM roms you won't have all the thing that sense have like beats, zoe, browser etc etc.
On a GPE rom you have the beats equalizer but not the zoe and all other thing.
If you're looking to get rid of the bloatware and keep other features look for roms that do just that, there are lots of GPE roms that keep most of the other HTC One features.
if you're looking for a rom that is not bloated but still keep some of the best features of sense.. try eragon.. i have used it on my one x before.. though im just having some small issues with the latest release but i know its just a weird issue im going thru.. but that rom is a good rom try to check out their thread in android dev section..
Hi guys,
I'm going to buy a HTC One M7 shortly and I'd like to know what I can do the best. Currently I've got a HTC Sensation XE with this ROM, a pretty vanilla Android version without Sense. I'd like to have something similar on the M7, but with the latest supported Android version (4.4.x) and with a auto update functionality so I don't have to do updates manually in the future.
I've spend a day to get everything ready on my Sensation, so I'm not that good with customs ROMs and stuff. Hereby my questions:
1) Which ROM for the M7 is good maintained, have regularly good stable updates, can update automatically, don't have Sense, is pretty much vanilla Android, have good performance, have good battery time, is based on the latest Android version and if there comes a new major Android version it can be updated automatically to it.
2) What is the best method to install the custom ROM?
3) What is the best method to root the phone?
4) Is it advised to install a custom kernel? What are the advantages of it?
5) Is it advised to use the Cyanogenmod installer? Does this install what I want as described in my first question?
6) I've read something about a custom "radio", this can optimize the wifi/3g/4g signals, is this a good idea?
I'm sorry for my beginner questions, I hope somebody can help me out with this!
Thanks in advance! Regards,
Roy

Ok first off there is no Best anything it is all up to you to try them out and make up your own mind.
If you want something that can be updated right away then get a Nexus.
Now all the info you want can be found by searching. Please do so.
I have a RAZR i which is running the stock UK 4.1.2 firmware, and I'm tired of the long pauses and lags when switching between certain apps (i.e. Chrome browser) and returning back to the home screen. I was going to hold off and wait for the official OTA 4.4 upgrade to see if it would improve, but I'm running out of patience with Motorola.
So I figured it might be a good idea to try a custom ROM, but I have a couple of questions:
a) Can anyone suggest a good all-round custom ROM? On previous phones I've often used CM - is the Razr i CM11 build a good every-day ROM?
Is there a complete start-to-finish guide for installing custom ROMs? I've looked in some of the help threads but I'm still quite confused.
Thanks in advance, guys!
Again, looking for expert help for a novice. I have a HTC ONE m7 Sprint rooted. I have been installing the Cyanogen mod nightly's with pretty good results. then 2 or 3 months ago, I downloaded a CM12 (lollipop?) and the phone would not run the rom, just kept locking up. I went thru quite a process of reinstalling cm-11 roms, and installing backups to get it running again. tried again, same results. then a month ago accidentally downloaded another cm-12 rom and same results. they are not longer updating cm-11.
Can anybody tell my why CM-12 roms won't run on my HTC ONE? is there something I can do to make it work? What do I need to do to protect the files, pics and contacts that are on it now? should I be upgrading to the new HTC m9? or galaxy 6? or use a different rom all together? I like CM, but if something else will run better why not?
thanks in advance for any advice?
Don't know much about CM on this phone. I personally prefer tdhite's PAC ROM. It's CM like but with more features. Also, I'm running gruesomewolf's GPE ROM right now and like it a lot. It's made for the HTC One by HTC and then ported to Sprint. You can find both in Android Development.
Hi there. I know this phone is very old now. I was very much hoping there is a way to update it to a kitkat or even lollipop with an unrooted rom? This jelly bean stock rom it has is fine, but i wanted a little more freedom with the phone, so i can use a few more modernish apps, for my banking. I'd love if the rom can be very light weight, not taxing at all
Is there a way to upgrade the rom, keep it stock with no root?
Or What is generally the best way to go about a new version for the phone?
It's my first phone i had back in the day and it's just something i want to use as a backup.
Plus i've never rooted a HTC phone and i heard they are a pain in the ass, so if anyone can provide a guide, i'd be greatful
and I need android 6 or above.
i don't really care how, i just want it to happen.
