Skinomi TechSkins - One (M8) Accessories

I have the Skinomi carbon fiber skin for my Asus Transformer Prime. It is great. My question is the skin for my Prime came in multiple pieces and it was a pain to get the small, thin strips that went on the sides of the tablet to stay on. They kept peeling up so I eventally just took them off. I see that the rear protector is one piece and it wraps around the edge of the phone. If anyone can give some feedback on how well the M8's techskin fits that would be great.

Try a hair dryer or heat gun to get the corners to stick.

I just got mine yesterday. But installed it badly as this was my first time applying wet application based screen protector. Btw, after it have dried for a day. Can I still peel off to realign? Will this cause the adhesive to worn off? I find it super hard to pull off after it had dried.

I did that with the small strips that went on the sides of my Transformer but they never really stuck good again after starting to peel.
I haven't bought one yet. I'd like to know how well the sides stay on. If the skin was not $20 I'd probably have already bought one. I want to make sure it won't start peeling off like the small strips that came with my Transformers skin.

I'm in the same boat as you, hesitant to pay $20 for a few stickers but I just ordered the black carbon fiber wraps from slickwraps. Their customer service seems great and I'm sure they would replace any defective stickers. They have a thread in this section I've been following and people seem to love them.

The side sticks really well. What I mean is the IR Blaster and the charging pot area. The black is one piece though. Stick really well. But the adhesive part of my side were out ask I use pouch.. Probably the fiction cause this.

Aluminum Metal Case

I received yesterday my protection for Leo. I share with you the results of this:

For shipping this protection:

Thanks for sharing; however you would have been better off posting in the Cases thread where we all go to see what's happening in the world of cases.
WB
Agree with above poster, can a mod fix this?
Nice case! ive also ordered 1 last week at PDAir, the 1 without a screen, so easy acces, but fewer protection. I am hoping its more solid so i can put it in my back pocket without getting a red face everytime i realize i accidently put it there...
When did you order it and did it took long (i am eager to get mine, but now hope is gone till monday or tuesday...)
I disagree.
The "Cases" thread is too long and too complicated for discussing any one specific case.
Anyway I ordered mine just a moment ago and would very much like to hear how quick was the shipment, how snug is the fit and how reassuring the neoprene feels
It's a shame they opted for a plastic screen protector instead of either a window-less aluminum door or a transparent cover that lets you work with the touchscreen.

mohasea,
How thick is the plastic cover over the screen?
Does the plastic cover flex?
Do you think the plastic cover would prevent the screen being cracked if dropped screen down on ummm concrete?

I totally agree, wish they had a solid aluminum front door instead of the window cut-out covered in plastic or the other option they have of no plastic window cut-out. I would order one now, even not having my Leo yet, just because the front door was solid aluminum.
I am going to contact PDair and see if they would leave a few front doors out of the cnc cutter and have a full cover aluminum
Would you like one too, Duperman ?
Thank you,
Monnie
I have ordered an open screen case despite it may not fully protect the screen. HD2 has a glass screen and it is hard enough against scratch as what has been in iphone.

Mine, the one without screen plastic, is supposed to arrive between now and Jan 27th next year...(sometime)
take care
Anyone got theirs yet?
Would love to see some detailed photos and a review of the case pros/cons
Thank you,

I'm debating whether to go with their leather flip case or this aluminum case...
I got this case and immediatly wished there was no plastic screen on the front door. So, I held it over some boiling water for about 2 mins and and then used my thumb nail (not kidding it was easy) to pry the plastic from the metal. The whole lot peeled off easily, i replaced the foam into the case and BAM perfect case. (be careful not to rip the foam, but if you do it will still stick back. also the foam stretched out a bit but pushed back into shape no problem. TIP: Work from the front side of the case, wedge your nail into the seem and loosen it all the way around. If it starts to get tough again, hold it over steam for a while longer.
Also.. when the plastic was still inplace and the case door was closed, there would be random screen presses and that was not cool, however now that the plastic is out, i can leave the door closed, press when I want too, AND there is no random case presses
I know this sounds like a poor fix, but it worked awesome and it looks like it was SUPPOSED to come this way.
Now all i need is for my zag shield (front only) to show up and im perfectly protected (minus water damage dammit)
awesome case guys im not kidding. you dont have to put the nubbin on in the back either so it doesnt add much bulk to teh phone. good luck yo.
Got mine too and I use the black open faced aluminum for local use and insert the whole unit;
aluminum case and all into the Maxpedition "Rat" wallet for carrying on belts etc.... http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/...&idcategory=11
Like it alot....
FWIW
well, do not kill me if I say so .. but it is ugly as hell.
I do not say that it does not protect the phone, or the the finishing it's not ok .. but from a slim phone with a huge screen, it looks like a bullet proof brick with a screen.
The whole idea of an elegant smartphone it's gone.
Small question: what do you hate about the original leather case?
It is elegant, slim easy to use and protect the phone in normal use conditions or small accidents.
Capdase Alumor Metal Case
Bought this silicon w/ aluminium backcover case by CAPDASE in Hong Kong, adding a more "solid" feel over the pure silicon case. It comes with a CAPDASE screen protector as well.
http://www.mobimega.com/capdase-alumor-metal-case-htc-hd2.html
Beware that the silicon case may not glue well to the aluminum backcover (I think it's the factory problem) which may leave a small gap between them when you put the phone in. I have to apply some glue to fix that myself. Apart from the case is nice and not too costly.

Hi,
I am seriously thinking about ordering one for my Desire (A8181).
But what I'm not able to find, is how it works. I mean, you seem to describe the case as a silicone skin, with a metal plate sticked to it.
I thought it was more like a silicone skin with another semi-case to "clip" over the silicon....
Can you confirm if I am right or wrong?
And can you post multiple angles pictures?
Thank you, it would be much appreciated!
thanks but

Ohh Great!
Thanks for the pictures! To me is one of the best cases i've ever seen.

Matte battery cover?

Hi guys,
I've seen the DIY project which is a pretty decent looking alternative but I was wondering if anyone has seen an actual Matte Battery Door yet? It'd be cool to have one like the Epic 4G's which still said Google on the back. (I think the Google looks oddly classy )
My searches have come up kinda empty so thought I'd ask.
Mini rant.... WHY?! WHY???! Is the back cover so prone to scratches.. it been only a week and a half or so and already I've seen scratches developing, in fact another happened just today.. it's really the one and only thing I don't like about it.. not sure what they were thinking..
Well if anybody has seen alternatives please let me know!
Thanks!
There is the Invisible shield Dry which is a matte back protector for it. It looks pretty sleek.

you can get the invisibleshield dry from any of the sprint stores-- it's all they carry.
if you get the invisibleshield from ZAGG, they send the "wet" version, which is the cover everyone's used to.
the dry version is matte, and thinner, and doesn't use spray/sponge/liquid. it's not as "tacky" or sticky as the wet version, and you can still clearly see the google/samsung logo.
just be real sure to follow the instructions, squeegee from the center out, and give it a couple of days to fully cure. i saw a bunch of micro bubbles and what look like flaws after applications, and it looked like the dry shield didn't fully seal around the tiny dots on the cover, but after a couple of days it was perfectly sealed in. don't squeegee too hard, especially around the curves. it'll stick, and give it a day or two.
pretty happy with it, and it comes with the regular clear/tacky/sticky front shield, too, which is also applied dry. i found the squeegee to be a bit too stiff, and it's easy to dent and stretch the shield when squeegeeing it out.
ZAGG says to keep the device off, cuz the heat or something will affect curing. i just left mine on after application, and everything is perfect. there's orange peel, but it's minimal. no problems with touch sensitivity, and if anything i think it's better because fingerprints and oil don't show up.
i wonder if it's even worth shielding the front, though. i have an old blackberry that had nothing on it, and the screen i think is plastic, and i treated it like crap. no scratches.
but yeah, just go to a sprint store. they have em. best buy around here only sells the front shield. i prefer the dry matte back because it's thinner, and still does a good job.
fyi: ZAGG's guarantee and return policy are top notch. registering on their site is simple, and they'll ship out a replacement pretty quickly, and you just mail back your old shield as proof. they don't care what condition it's in. before i just ripped off an old shield and slapped it on a piece of paper.

So the Nexus S still doesn't have any third party back covers or battery doors? I can't stand the shiny plastic back. All I see on ebay are oem battery doors that are the same thing. Don't want to use a sticker/shield or dip.

Correct.
The white version of the Nexus S actually has a very nice textured back on it. I wanted the white color to begin with but after seeing (and feeling) the difference between the backplate on the black version versus the white version, I much prefer the white one. The black one has no grip to it and, like the OP said, it scratches way too easily.
Yeah I thought about the zagg body shield but they unfortunately only had the screen. I decided to grab the wet one instead and I've never had better luck applying a screen protector.. heh the "wetness" really makes it easy to get the bubbles out and it cures awesome.
As for the battery cover.. it's already got a few scratches, but on top of that in the lower left corner it doesn't seem to snap in very securely, even in general use when tapping on the lower left part of the phone you can feel the battery door.. "click" a little bit as if its not latched properly, it makes a audible click sound as well.
I resolved this issue by putting a very thin strip of scotch tape on the inside of the door along the edge which produces just enough pressure to keep the clicking from happening and it feels more secure. (No you can't see it )
SO I'll probably just buy a new battery door eventually and use a body shield.. hopefully the new one will latch a bit more securely as well. It's not a big big deal, and the DIY fix by me is definitely just me nitpicking the tiny click feeling but still.. I think Samsung makes good products most of the time but they really should step up the build quality a little bit.
Thanks for the suggestions though guys
Actually I think I'm going to try the plasti dip on the existing cover to.. I could see that helping the latch as well because it would be just the tiniest bit thicker it would seem.

I bought a XOskin screen protector and also their carbon fiber back protector. Used the N10 with the protective film for several days but then removed it. I was thinking about returning the carbon fiber skin beccause it's too smooth compared to the rubberized back of the N10.
After just a few days of usage, what little tackiness the rubberized had is gone and it's fairly slick. I'm not about to clean it with whatever every few days to bring back what little grip it provided. I may slap the carbon fiber skin on after all.
Uh.. I have a hairline scratch in the corner and i still had the factory cover on and babied it. Gorilla glass doesn't protect worth crap.

I decided to raw dog it, too, and see what happens. I've put protectors on every portable device I've had since...well, almost ever. But, when I got a replacement Galaxy Nexus in July, I never got around to putting a protector on the screen. Despite being some off-brand "fortified glass", it's totally unscratched. I take some care to avoid scratching it (nothing else goes in the phone pocket) but I don't carry it in a any kind of case or pouch. Since my Nexus 10 will be treated even more gently (i.e. not living in my pockets), it should be fine without a protector.
If I'm wrong, I'll put a protector on my OLED retina tablet in a couple years.
I've also been using my Galaxy Nexus with "fortified glass" (tempered, but not Corning Gorilla Glass) since the device was released (a year?) with only the 2 part Incipio case that Verizon Wireless sells for it (silicone liner, hard shell around it) - glass completely unprotected. I put the phone in my pocket (pants, shirt, jacket, etc.) every day, use the phone a LOT, have taken it to the beach (generally throw it in a ziplock bag), put it in my backpack, etc, etc. Not single visible scratch on it -- and I'm a stickler for this, as little flaws somehow always manage to grab my attention more than they deserve. Not saying that it's bulletproof by any means - but with reasonable care, my phone with bare glass still looks brand new. The N10 has Gorilla Glass 2 -- again, not impervious, but should hold up quite well to normal wear and tear. I enjoy the bare glass SO much more than the slightly rubbery feel and drag of a protector that it's worth a bit of extra care for me so I can get away with a bare screen.
I have the full body protection. Was a bear to get on, took 2 hours of my time to get all the pieces on and it did not go smoothly. I used to think I was pretty pro at putting wet application protectors on but this is a HUGE device and getting big vinyl film pieces wet and then onto the device without parts folding over and sticking to itself, etc was a night mare. I even messed up the front protector. Loads of bubbles everywhere after over a week. Not BSE's fault at all but I told them of my situation at the same time that I noted my N4 protectors did not have a proximity sensor cut out and they sent me a new full body kit for the n10 for free with my n4 screen protectors. Great customer service!
Can someone who has the full body protector, installed, post some pictures? I would love to see what a device looks like properly installed! I saw the video for XO and they aren't nearly as hard because, well, they aren't really full body protectors. They have one piece that protects the clam shell for the most part in the back but that is it. All corners and sides are completely exposed. Maybe this is good, as there's that nasty edge seem feel from the little individual pieces, but still. If I can't master the full body kit installation this, I'll just rock it with the front screen protector from BSE and order a dry carbon skins back cover from XO. Those dry carbon things are really really easy to install... you can even peel them off and re apply them on another device and it will stay. Loved that type of protector on my Galaxy Nexus. They are not as poor feeling on seams either.
Nevertheless... can someone please post pictures?

Same here. I just can't stand bulky cases. This is the only thing I'd consider putting on mine so I'm interested to know if it looks cheap and how it feels.
I'm curious if these skins, along with their screen protector, offer any actual protection if the phone is dropped..

The edges are where the damage is most likely and it appears from the photos that they are not well covered. Not sure I am going to keep it. I also have had lots of issues with screen protectors peeling off because I keep the phone in my pants pockets. Looks like that could very likely happen with all those seams.
Yesterday one of the pointy corner pieces started to come off so I heated it up with the hair dryer and re-applied it. So far so good. I also keep the phone in my pocket.
The skin does prevent fingerprints but I don't love the feel of it. I wish this phone had a soft touch back then it would be almost perfect.

The edges seem sharp to the touch. Not enough to cut but I am not sure I love it. I noticed the screen protector gets marked up with the knock knock function.
I had to cut a couple of the very pointy ends off because they kept popping up. No problems since. The carbon skin is a bit rough and not that pleasant to touch but it gives a good grip and no finger prints. I'm going to try the Incipio Feather black soft touch cover.

No, because I have bad experiences in the past with cristal protectors that never fit really well with curved screens

The glossy is completely transparent. It's a thick plastic, though, and you need a ton of solution to get it on, etc. It only comes with the back pieces, they don't seem to have a kit for the Naked series.

I got a wet applied screen protector for the back. I want to maintain the look of the back without covering it with a skin. This is the one I have and works perfectly with my Lumion case. For those without back protectors but use a case, the back will still get scratched easily. On my Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the glass back had tiny scratches even if I kept the phone in a case all the time. Tiny dust particles still managed to get trapped between the glass back and the case. A back protector is a must if you want to maintain the pristine condition of the back glass.
Slickwraps plus spigen
Bought a slikwraps skin and a spigen clear case.
Slickwraps as usual is a pain in the butt to install and they always take 2+ days to ship the item from the moment you buy them but is till prefer their designs.
Spigen iv'e use them since my s6 and i always liked them, past spigen clear cases turn yellow after some time, i'm hoping this ones won't since it says they have improved the yellowish thing happening.
