Hello there.
Not long after I bought my KFHD (in May last year) I noticed my original charging cable was no longer connecting properly. The connector to the Kindle needed to be held in place when charging or connecting to my computer. I initially suspected that the fast charger was at fault, however I soon found another cable and this solved the issue.
However, a few months ago I noticed a similar issue. However, using different cables and chargers made no difference. I tested with the following chargers/cables:
Kindle "PowerFast" + Samsung "U2" cable (from Galaxy S) - untested with other devices
Kindle "PowerFast" + Samsung "UC" cable (from Galaxy S3 mini) - works
Kindle "PowerFast" + Original KFHD cable (from my KFHD 7" ) - cable dead
Archos Gamepad (7") charger - works
Samsung USB charger (from Galaxy S3 mini) - works
Samsung USB charger (from Galaxy S) - barely works
This gradually became more and more of an issue until recently, when the Kindle refused to charge at all. Until I noticed this problem, I had been leaving the Kindle on when I wasn't using it. I haven't used it for the past few weeks, and when I have tried chargers, I tried them while booted into TWRP.
Does anyone know what the problem could be and if there are any easy solutions?

Hi All,
Just purchased S3 LTE around a week back and noticed that there is an issue on charging the phone through a USB charger.
This handset came with Jelly Bean OS and had the version as 4.1.1. I purchased a third party USB charger and when connected from my Laptop to the mobile, it does not charge and nothing happens. However after experimenting, then noticed that if I restart the handphone then the charging automatically starts!
I believe this must be still an open issue in this version of handphone. Correct me if I am wrong.
If anyone has any solutions to overcome this issue, please share it with me here. I would highly thankful.
Thanks!
This is the first time I have heard of something like this
Phones have a minimum voltage required to charge them so it is probable that your computer is not supplying that
Try a different USB cable (may be faulty) and also try from a different USB port
It should work flawlessly when plugged into a power outlet
If it still doesn't work them do factory reset and if all else fails then warranty the *****

First of all, many thanks to Hashcode for his great work. Second think, please forgive my poor english skills
I succesfully installed CM 10.2 in my KFHD7. It runs smoothly but I found that the touchscreen behaves erratically when the kindle is hooked to its charger, ie, it's almost impossible to type anything because it keeps on inserting (or erasing) random letters. To solve the problem is enough to unhook the charger.
I tried other ROMs like Pac-man to no avail, same situation. All of them had 3.0.50+ kernel version. I wasn't able to patch and run a lower kernel version but I'm ready to additional testing.
TIA
That problem is because of the charger, I believe it is caused by it being slightly under the amperage it should be putting out, I have a similar issue with my iPod car charger, except it somehow effects devices around it in in a 3 foot radius as well.

Thanks for the tip. After some testing, in fact, it seems the charger is the problem's origin.
I didn't bought the original Kindle charger. I have several micro-USB chargers at home and I use them at will without repairing which one I'm using. Well, a couple of them are in the 750-850 mA range and every time that I connect the to the tablet the erratic behaviour arises again. If I connect the Kindle to a PC port (500 mA) or to an 1 A charger I have no problem.
So with your advice I was able to pinpoint the problem's source. Again many, many thanks :highfive:
My experience with four different chargers (all of them 5V):
- 2A/1A (Kensington iPad/iPod car charger): everything OK on both outputs (2A and 1A).
- 0.85A (Amazon wall charger for Kindle Keyboard e-reader): KFHD7 detects more than three touches for every real touch, unusable while charging.
- 0.7A (Blackberry 9700 wall charger): KFHD7 sometimes detects an additional touch (not for every real touch), you can use it while charging but you must be careful and stop undesired actions.
- 0.55A (Huawei Y300 mobile phone wall charger): everything OK (now connected, not sure it is really charging although it reports so).

Thanks for your information. It validates my own experience point by point.
BTW, my problematic chargers came from two mobile phones: 780 mA charger from a Samsung Galaxy SII and 850 mA charger from a Sony Xperia Mini Pro.
Saludos/Regards
Hello. I have old devices box and I tried to fired up Galaxy Tab (last time I put tablet in the box with 20% left, so today it's without any % in battery). I connected cable to charger, but I still see black screen. I tried couple of things, but nothing worked. Maybe someone has a advise? I not have original Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 charger, so I'm using from Galaxy Note.
[SOLVED] First my charger was with 1A. Everything is good with 2A charger.

i tried to use a generic otg cable (china made) on my samsung galaxy tab s2, at first I was able to view files on my usb but when the the tablet was moved i wasn't able to view now my usb files. then when my battery gets to 7% i tried to charge it with my original samsung charger (that came in with my tablet package) the red x on the battery started to show and there was a notification that says "device charging slowly, to charge faster, use the original charger". I dont know what the real problem is- is it because i used a defective otg or my tablet has the issue. please help my tablet is 2 months old

i already did- no luck. do you think that after i plug the otg i may damage some internal parts of the tablet?
Get some juice into it then download the app Galaxy charging current and see what it's putting out.
I have a charger for my s6 and one for the tab s2. They look the same but reading the fine print, the tab s2 is a quick charger while the s6 is a normal one. It does make a difference, the quick charger is definitely faster
You have a faulty cable, specifically there is a break / bad / intermittent connection.
I purchased a generic y-cable for this tablet. It goes by several names, but it's supposed to allow you to power a usb device externally while connected to a tablet. With mine, when I first plug it in it starts charging my tablet. But after about 5 seconds my Fire no longer charges from it. This happens on both Fire OS and CM. Is this normal? Is there someway I can keep my tablet charging while connected to a usb device?

I'd be suspicious of the cable if charging stops with no USB device attached. Also make sure the charging brick can supply sufficient current to satisfy both devices.
