I am on 4.4.2 (XT 1052), is there any way to permanently postpone 4.4.4 update?. I like my Black Dialer and don't want the White Dialer
Thanks in advance
Sanjay
If you're rooted, use titanium backup to freeze "Motorola OTA".
Otherwise you will get nagged about it and you can't stop it.

I am trying to root my att moto x (to be honest I am not a developer, so I just followed the guide 'Rockmymoto') then when I am trying to use Cydia Impactor to telnet my phone, it shows 'install parse failed no certificates'. I am using a Windows8.1 laptop, I've also got a Mac, but it seems not the computers' problem, what should I do now.
The only reason I want to root my phone is becasue I want to give it to my father, however it keeps noticing me the 4.4.3OTA, it is so annoying and I cannot turn it off. I heard that the only way to stop it is to root my phone and delet the OTA application. Please help me with it, thank you.
By the way, I am using the latest cydia impactor.

He'd need root for titanium backup.
And to the original poster......do not try to downgrade if you're on 4.4.2 now. You will likely brick, if not now....later. Just don't try it.

Your post doesn't really make sense....
You say you are using an AT&T Moto X, right? Then later you say that it keeps prompting you to install the "4.4.3" update?
AT&T never released a 4.4.3 update. The latest software version for the AT&T XT1058 is 4.4.2.
So which version are you CURRENTLY on? And what is the model of your phone? Go to Settings > About Phone > Status
The ONLY way you can use RockMyMoto is if you are currently on 4.4 or 4.2.2.
Let us know which version you are actually on, and we MAY be able to help you further.
Also, if the only reason you want to root is to disable firmware updates........why? Why not just accept the update, and then it will stop nagging you?
It sounds to me like you might have the "GSM Unlocked" version....the XT1053, and you just happen to be using it on AT&T. Please clarify.
Sorry for the incorrect information, but it is an AT&T Moto X. There is no 'simplified Chinese' in the original rom, so I swipe in a Rogers' rom which comes with the language. And then it means that it cannot accept any OTA or it will become a brick. It keeps notifying me the 4.4.3 OTA which is really annoying. And I need to root first before I can freeze that OTA app. here comes the pictures

So I've recently unlocked the bootloader thanks to SunShine. I previously froze the Moto updater app in Titanium so as not to continually receive prompts to upgrade. Since I'm not unlocked, rooted and have TWRP running.. Would it be worth my time to upgrade to 4.4.4?
1. What are the benefits or drawbacks of upgrading or is it so minor I'm barely going to notice a difference?
2. I don't want to screw anything up. I want my Xposed apps and everything I have now running great.
3. If I do upgrade is it difficult to re-root (assuming I will indeed lose root) or is it as simple as reinstalling SuperSU?
4. Is "okay Google Now" any faster? I'd use it more if it wasn't so incredibly slow.
5. I assume there will be no data wipe if I upgrade, correct?
6. Is it even worth it to upgrade? Better cell service? Faster or slower os?
Side Question: Can anybody recommend good WiFi Hotspot app now that I'm unlocked and rooted?
Sent from my Moto X
You can upgrade and flash custom recovery and root on any Android version now.
Will 4.4.4 change much? No. But there's no reason not to. You may need it for future X feature updates perhaps. Not sure.
Supposedly 4.4.4 lowered Android O/S battery usage, though my wifes 4.4.2 is fine... So again, up to you.
I don't see how updating will hurt anyway. But... Once you do, there's no going back.
Also on 4.4.2 AT&T unlocked through Chinese, have been planning to update to 4.4.4 now that it's rolled out to AT&T, mostly to see if the supposed camera improvements are better, and though I don't use the video recorder, I like that they added the pause (I was surprised when I couldn't find it)
I believe I just need to uninstall xposed, unfreeze any system apps, flash stock recovery, take the update, and reinstall TWRP
Hey Folks,
I'm a little bit unsure on this one so I'm asking first:
Current Android Version is 4.4.2, i want the Update to 4.4.4
Planned Workaround:
Make Full Backup with Titanium Backup, Reset the Phone, Restart it, Update it, Root it with this: http://www.xda-root.com/2014/08/root-samsung-galaxy-s5-mini-g800f.html
Like I said I'm not sure if the Android Version affects the root method? Can I do it without any fear?
Cheers and thanks
Ghost
How are you going to update to 4.4.4? There isn't an official update available.
Hi
I've run into a problem while trying to update my Moto X (gen 1) XT1053 from 4.4.4. to 5.1. through standard OTA update. Here is the scenario:
- My phone is not unlocked or rooted, nor does it have modified firmware of any type. It is a fully stock XT1053 purchased directly from Motorola in the US that I have not tinkered with in anyway
- My phone downloaded and applied the update on Saturday morning and after the first section of the install rebooted. It sat at the screen with the M and "powered by android" at the bottom and vibrated once, then the screen went off, the same screen came back on and the phone vibrated again. Then an Android on it's back with a red exclamation and "Command" was shown.
- I figured out how to get into the recovery menu and wiped the cache, rebooted and no change. I then attempted to factory reset the phone, it did this but again no change.
- I spoke with a Motorola chat representative who was unable to help but I managed to follow some instructions on this forum to enter the fast boot menu, download and re-flash android stock 4.4.4 using RSDlite and get the phone working again.
- The phone attempted to apply the 5.1 update again yesterday and encountered the same issue again.
Would anyone have any ideas about what could be going wrong with the update process? Or ways that I can go about getting this to install correctly. The motorola rep seemed to think it was to do with my carrier, but as it was downloaded over wifi can this be the case?
If not, would anyone know how to stop android from continously prompting me to update to 5.1? I'm happy to remain on 4.4.4. if it means the phone will still remain functional.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Did you try going to settings and about phone, update
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Correct, the update was applied through settings > about phone > system update

If you prefer to stay with a working 4.4.4 then you can try disabling some apps related to the OTA, like I think Motorola OTA used to be there although I don't see it now in 5.1, or Motorola Update Services, which now looks like you can't disable but anything you can't disable you can try unchecking "Show Notifications", and so on. if you check around the forum you'll find something that works.
On the other hand if you want to try to get 5.1 working you could try applying the OTA from recovery. while on 4.4.4 you download the OTA (see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61304089&postcount=864 ) and then boot into stock recovery and choose to apply update from sd. hopefully it will work that way. ***Be aware however that by going from your failed 5.1 update back down to 4.4.4 as you said you did, you have put your phone at risk of bricking when you try to go back up to 5.1. since you've already tried it once, you might be willing to try it again, but just know that there is that risk and its on you if it bricks and you lose your working 4.4.4
Oh and you do have another option, you can stay on 4.4.4 until Motorola releases the whole 5.1 firmware or someone managed to get it, then you can flash 5.1 firmware with rsdlite like you did with 4.4.4

Thanks dtg7, I'll give that a try in the next day or so (updating via the recovery menu) otherwise will hold out for the 5.1 firmware and try RSDlite again.

Worked perfectly downloading the OTA update and applying through the recovery screen. Thanks for your help
After update to lollipop, I found Kitkat on my Z3c to be better that Lollipop update, so I decided to downgrade to kitkat, but somehow I don't like white theme in my Phone application and Settings Application.
Guys is there any way to make Settings and Phone Application black themed, I am on stock ROM (.77 without root).
P.S
also I don't want to root my phone
