Hi All,
Hopefully someone can help me out here. I just suffered the unfortunate fate of having the beta ROM expire on me. Now it looks as though I will need to reflash the X1 with a new ROM.
If I reflash the ROM is there anyway that I can save my pictures and videos from the internal phone memory or will they get erased by the flash? If they get erased by the flash, can I recover them after?
Is there anyway to bypass the white screen that states the beta has expired? I really need to get to the pictures.
Thanks,
T
I don't have much experience with this(I don't even see the point why your rom isn't timebomb fixed). But are you able to connect via activesync?
No, I can't connect via active sync. The only thing that I see when I connect the phone to the PC is the removable sd card.

What do you mean by "timebomb fixed"? Where do I find the timebomb fix?
no you cant recover it after flash.. if possible copy those files of yours to the sd card.. then flash.. frankly speaking i didnt know that there was a rom with a expiration.. really.. got me confuse there bud..
Hi ,
same case here. I had an energy ROM which does not have time bomb fixed and now all the internal data needs to be saved. i have also looked to many posts to seek solution and being a newbie was reluctant to ask around. if anybody has a solution pls post. this effects WM6.5 series ROMS. Thx in adavnce for help
i doubt you will get the images back i dont know what format is the phone is, if you flash over it or with a smaller rom, the sectors will be free for allocation, but if you manage to use data recovery program you might have a chance depending on the allocation size, they tell you to hard reset after flash so there is something left behind, but its interesting to know that in the tri color boot screen connects to the pc via usb so there is some communication there.
good luck
Did anyone ever figure this out?
This stupid ROM that has expired seems to prevent the bootloader from starting up somehow.
I tried holding the volume down button while pressing and holding the power button, but it always boots into the Energy ROM. Instead of immediately seeing the tricolor screen, I get the SE logo followed by the blasted HTC logo then the Energy ROM.....
I have tried doing a hard reset (stylus in the pin hole with the two silver buttons on the front pressed down) and no luck...it just boots up normally....
I really need to get my files off of the phone, but I cannot access it via Activesync (phone not visible), and the blasted screen on the phone is completely white with a stupid message. Man I am really p***** off./
If anyone here can help I would really appreciate it as I have some files that are very important that I desperately need to get off the phone...
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

I'm sorry that I still have no clue how can you get your files...so sorry
About entering the bootloader, the main point is, did you continue holing the down volume button while you are holding the power button??
Hold volume button, press and hold power button (still keep holding the volume button), wait and you will see 3 color screen....
hope you can some how to connect to the computer...
Good luck....
I keep holding the volume down button while I press and hold the power button and it just boots up normally...
I have even trien a hard reset and it also just boots up normally...
wtf....
you can also use the camera button instead of the volume keys... camera+power... that's what i do
seems as tho everyone who has this problem with the volume keys are the only ones who use custom roms
HolyChristmas!!!! That worked...it was the only %^## combination of buttons that I did not try. Thanks a million spike.
Not when I have my X1 in boot loader mode and then connect to the PC, will I be able to access the files on it using Activ sync? Right now I see nothing.....

You can plug your USB in your X1 while in bootloader, so you can flash a new ROM, you can't back-up your files from there.
glad to here that ur problem i solved
The problem solved?....50% but not quite completely out of the woods yet.
Now that I can get to the bootloader, I need to fetch my personal files from the phone memory before flashing a new ROM onto it. So that is where I stand now.
I know that the phone is somehow communicating with the PC as I was able to re-run the HARD-SPL as a test and it worked. Now it is a matter of getting the phone to be seen by the PC so that I can get my data from it....the data is very important to me so I cannot afford to lose it.
AAny suggestions short of applying blunt force with a hammer will be appreciated...

your data is already gone if you already did a hard reset, so there is no way to get it back.
The phone can't communicate with your pc unless winmo is up and running and activesync service is running, so from within the bootloader, i think it isn't possible.
You could read around at the forum on how to make a dump of your rom, then all files on your phone will be "dumped" to the pc. But i don't know if you can do that through the bootloader. Good luck
EDIT: Ow, sorry, I didn't look to the last posts, i see you already found out that the camera button already works.
To get in bootloader, try the camera button and the power button instead of the vol. down button.
I know that the data is still there for the following reasons:
1. hard reset was not done
2. when phone boots up normally I do the the custom desktop background (which is a picture that I took with the camera) before it gets covered up by that white screen with the "beta expired" message.
3. I am able to communicate with the phone because when I was in bootloader mode, I ran the Hard-SPL.exe from my PC and the phone responded by loading the hard-spl.
I also thought of trying to dump the ROM, so that is one of the things that I will try soon.
Any other suggestions of how I can access my files in the phone memory?
Just took a look at the "how-to dump your ROM" guide and it does not look feasible considering I can't see the screen because of the white "beta expired" message. However, since I was running a custom ROM, perhaps the sdkcerts.cab was already pre-installed along with the registry settings...will try it anyway.
Any other ideas?
"
2) Preparing your phone:
Before your X1 will allow the dumping to be done, the following Sdkcerts.cab file must be installed.
- Copy Sdkcerts.cab to your phone or storage card and install it to the device.
Also, your phone must accept changes that pdocread makes. You can do this with the regedit function of the FdcSoft Taskmanager.
- Set the following registry keys to "1":
* HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies "00001001"
* HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies "0000101a"
- Connect your phone to your pc with activesync.

in the future, never save info on ur device that's valuable, im sure this is the reason why u have a sd card... i learn this the hard way on my p1i
just imagine you having info on ur device thats valuable and something else had happened, your goose would have been cooked... utilize the sd card as a safe storage way and always keep backups on an external storage... even myphone service from M$ gives this...
wish u luck in getting that info
I think that I definitely learned my lesson this time around...I am usually a bit more careful with my data....perhaps a moment of insanity lead me to this.
Back to trying to recoup the data....
It started as soon as I received a phone call from my brother and we were in the middle of a conversation when the phone suddenly goes off. I tried to restart it, I even removed the battery and replaced it but when I press the power button I get the initial boot sequence showing the htc logo and then the phone would just go of. I thought that maybe the battery is low but when I plug it to a power outlet it keeps trying to boot but keeps switching off and it just does this over and over.
Please I don't know if anyone has encountered this problem before, I really don't know what to do.

Try a Hard Reset using the device buttons:
1. With the phone off. If it’s frozen or unresponsive, pull then replace the battery.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons and power the phone back on.
3. Continue to hold Volume Up and Volume Down until a factory reset screen appears.
Hope this helps!

Well I just did that but the problem persist. I should note that occasionally it does complete its boot up and I can use the phone but it can go off at any time and once it does this, i cannot get it to completely boot up. Once it attempts a boot up and goes off I cannot even restart it by pressing the power button until I replace the battery or plug it into a power socket or the computer at which point it will just keep booting up and shutting down.
Something far wrong there. Get a replacement device.

Hi, I have got the same problem on my HD7 and I am completely noob to many new words Goldcard, jailbroken, etc. Would you please advise me exactly what you did (i mean flahing procedure) and really appriciate any help.
Well if you have got an O2 HD7, then I would advise you to get one of the O2 ROMS from ansar, download it then press and hold the volume down button when booting up your device, connect the phone to your pc and start the app. More instructions in the HD7 development thread.
There's nothing wrong the phone. Don't hard reset or flash it. It happens from time to time, just give it some time and eventually you will see a battery icon appear. Then after awhile it will boot up.
Again, do not flash or hard reset just be patient. I believe it just needs to drain all the way down as it doesn't have enough power to fully boot.
Not booting up

I allready did that but thx and it didnt work. I also open the back cover for im desprate cause i thought maybe i can press the power button better this way but also that didnt work. I saw something in youtube but it was for the galaxy s2 and the you use a (JIG) to automatic booting the phone and also there was a way to flash the phone and that way it automatic turn on. My question is there something like a jig or a flash software that can do that for the htc one

Try holding the power button with the phone directly under a lamp until it boots. Sounds weird but it worked for me. I remember reading that somewhere...

thx everyone but it still doesnt work. And HTC indonesia dont want to take it back for repairs must send it to Holland. I know one thing i will never buy a htc anymore couple years ago i bought also a htc (desire) and that problem was it keep heating up and rebooting. With this one i got problems with the cam on low lights and then came the power button problem.
A friend brought me the phone. When charging from the adapter to the phone logo LG. The buttons do not respond. When I connect the phone to the PC, it does not see it 3 times on 3 reboots and gives the msg "After removing and reattaching battery, press power key to reboot and keep using phone". These manipulations do not give any result. If you pull out the battery and connect the phone to any key (VOL-) button to a PC the starts vibrating motor at different speeds.
Question. Phone died or bootloader or something else, there are options to do something at the home or just service center.

You have to plug it powered off with volume - button pressed. If it is still unrecognized than try another computer, helps for me.
i tried 3 pc. phone only vibrates with different speed. ((
any ideas???
give us some details ...what rom you use kernel etc
Try to flash kdz via that tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
Important: You will wipe all data.
Note: If you can't get sw upgrade screen, you just geting some green stripes or similar try without removing battery, that was in my case, just left battery inside phone trough all process.

My 5 cents are on that your volume - button is stuck (or the phone thinks it is) being held, hence you enter "lg service mode" when you plug it into computer. It would also explain the reboots with vibrations.
Make sure that it isn't the case, other than that I think you should take it to a service center

Don't you have to remove the battery, hold the power button, then plug in the USB cable while still holding it (release after S/W comes up) in order to make the phone boot into S/W mode? In the video you just plug the USB in and put battery back in a bit after.
I suggest you try different methods of booting into S/W and also try different flashing methods to re-flash the stock firmware.Should these fail, you should get it to a LG service center.
Also is that a crack on your micro sd reader or is it just a scratch at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYic7b6dwS0#t=10 ?

Hey guys,
So I have had my One more than a year, never root, never install any mod in it, just simple, daily use. It worked well till last night when some weird thing happened:
- At first, the Back, Home and HTC buttons keep flashing along with the screen. When I unlock my screen pass lock and go to the home screen, it showed a notification like "To restart the phone, keep pushing the power button for (x) second" with x is the count down number. After that, the phone is automatically rebooting, then the problem happen again.
- After a few times, I manage to shut it down properly then turn the phone up. As I notice, as long as I doing something with the phone such as calling somebody or checking facebook or simply sliding the home screen, thing is normal. But as I stopped using it, that weird notification pop up again
- The phone keep restarting after that, again and again. Sometime it boot successful, but when Im go to the home screen, the notification shows up and my phone restarts again. As I couldnt turn off my phone, it is drained and out of battery.
- This morning, I put the cable in and try to charge it, and My One now stuck at the first HTC logo screen then restarting and then stuck again. That looping process is drive me crazy. As I try to pull out the cable, the phone is not working (Obviously) since it is out of battery.
- As I hold down Power and Volume down, I can enter bootloader screen. I saw a "locked" banner and cannot navigate through the menu and can not press Fastboot or anything. After 2-3 seconds, the phone is shut down and keep looping.
Long story shot, can anybody tell me how to fix this. As I have a lot of pictures that havent been backed up, I really appreciate if I can keep everything without doing a factory reset. Oddly enough, I cant even do a factory reset since the bootloader is not working.
Please help.
Have you tried a factory reset?
On boot, bottom down n power will take u to fastboot.
You can do a factory reset from there.
HTC sync can save your stuff.

As I mentioned above, I can hardly do anything from that fastboot screen. Up, down and power button is not working as I cannot navigate to recovery or factory reset. Even pushing power button wont do.
When I connect the phone to PC, nothing happen. It is because the phone is out of battery i suppose?
The problem is when I start to charge the phone, it will keep looping. But if I dont, the phone is death and I cant do anything.
I honestly dont know. I suspect you have
Fast boot selected under Settings>power.
You've got to try till you can get into fastboot otherwise send it for repairs.

Because this is exactly the message we usually get when holding the power button for more then 5 sec...
and that would explain the reboot issue
looks like the "power" key is always active
definitively sounds like an hardware issue imo
and your issue is even present in bootloader what confirm that this is an hardware defect.
