If someone doesn't have a rooted phone, just use battery saving mode. That changes max CPU frequency. If you're on stock ofc.
Stok rom isnt have 1ghz bug. But other custom roms have this :/ this solve for other custom roms.
Sorry for my bad english.
All time (since I have installed cm11) I was so surprised that the other people are writing about 1 ghz bug but I don't have it. Now I know I don't have that big because I have change max frequency to 800 MHz (to save battery) .
Actually, 1GHz bug usually start after use media like music or video. I was using CPU apps but there are other bugs too draining battery so i returned to stock rom.

ok first hi everyone i am new here and i have a question...now i have my x8 for 5 months and i have rooted it installed custom ROM and overclocked it to 710 mhz...soo i was just wondering what is the best and stable overclock frequency that i can get on my precious x8...
710 MHz is stable for most users. Try to go higher to see the OC limit of your phone. ( maybe 729 or 748 to get better performance).
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
710Mhz is recommended .
Agree.
710 Mhz is the max frequency i can get without issues, going further instantly freezes and reboots my phone, using any Rom, any scaling governor, any oc module.
You can try to oc more, (without applying oc settings on boot!), maybe you're luckier
My x8 frequency is at 749 with ondemand govermor and its really stable , no random restarts no nothing weird , you can try it but make a back up first..

you forget you can't back up your cpu
yeah tried to go higher but only thing i get get is just reboot so 710 mhz is the best choice

But he can backup ROM and that will backup freq that was set before higher CPU OCing. So when he restores old freq will be restored too.
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
thats right but it was ment in an other way.
you cant restore old settings or any with burned cpu
I think 710mhz is the best overclock frequency too.
because its the most stable freq, although I can go up for 748 mhz but I dont want to.(748 mhz stable for me too :] )
I use @ 710 Mhz my phone, and its very stabe.
stay at 710. and move up on the frequency scale until you get a hang or reboot. set the freq to the one before you got a reboot/hang and test for stability.
I use FXPOC Kernel which is open to 768Mhz and i'm lucky enough to have a cpu that's stable at this frequency.
710mhz is best. you can go higher but i prefer not to unless you have a kurnel or rom that is specificly designed for maximum limits, other wise 710mhz cuz thats most stablest for our x8. i tried to overclock it and i got stuck in a bootloop and i had to wipe my phone.
I set the cpu speed at Min748-768max
Sent from my E15i using XDA Premium App
Min 767.9 Max 768. It's stable for me.
But recommended 710
Using Fd experience 2.0.0
Im not so lucky like you guys, mine X8 got unstable at 710mhz so i ve changed to 691 and is going fine till now. Im using FroyoBread v023b by DX great rom by the way.
Bro use 2.3.7 gb because of that we can use those frequency
Sent from my E15i using XDA Premium App
Maximum freq. doesn't depend on ROM it depends on hardwer (we all have same CPU but some of us have CPUs with higher or lower OCing potential).

If you can only go up to 691Mhz, then it would be better NOT to overclock. the GPU cycles you lose due to the GPU vs CPU scale outweighs the gain of 91Mhz from stock in overall performance.
You can also try the attached module, which is more forgiving than the latest 04 OC mod. both by Dx.
BTW, be sure to set your CPU speed to 600MHZ and set this to boot o9n whatever your using for controlling your OC, since the stock speed for this Mod is 800Mhz.
Yes it depends, try the new 2.3.7, with stock eclair and cm6, I will never have those frequency

the governor should be interactive or ondemand
and the frequency should be between
480 to 710.
Press thanks if i helped...
I personally use min 120 MHz, Ondemand governor
Now for max, use the higher value tha your chip can hold (mine on nAa is 729 MHz and in Alfs is 748 MHz)
thanks guys so it will be ok to set min 122Mhz and 721Mhz max ondemand governer! one more thing since i have nAa kernel that freq should be ok as day to day use or would u guys recommend me just when needed

thanks man i guess ill do that nAa 11 has 864Mhz max freq would it be ok to play games with that?
864 mhz might not be stable.... if it is then ok. but it may heat up the device. so be cautious. i am using stock kernel and i overclocked to 768 mhz. and is pretty stable and the device is pretty much cool.
I personally use 729mhz max and 245mhz min. With i/o scheduler noop or bfq. And governor smartass v2. And btw, I am using nAa v09.
depends on the device... Some X8 can go up to 805 Mhz and others can't. Personally I use 748 Mhz Max and 480 Mhz Min with SmartassV2 governer.

I use my phone in 600 MHz,but for playing I change it to 806 MHz. 864 MHz gived a processor freeze and a red led instantly.

because every processor has more power than what is set as default... for us its 600MHz... but our processor has more power than that...
mine is stable at 768MHz, random reboots at 787MHz and freezes at 806Mhz... but some of us can even go further some can OC it to 825-865MHz....
the only cause is not even one processor is perfect... they all have faults... just some are more perfect than others... and 600Mhz is default because this frequency works stable on the processor in all our X8

Freeze the TwDVFS package in Titanium Backup, then try again. You will lose power saving mode this way, but you will gain control over CPU frequency.
Freezing the package doesnt have any effect for me. Using SETCPU, have general setting 1000/200 with governor conservative, scheduler noop, applying at boot and it works fine, have a great performance and a really good battery live but profiles i create wont be applied. Wanted to create a profile with lower frequencies at a battery level under/equal a value of 20% but no success for me. Tried with all governers incl. the powersave - but nothing changes. Of course rooted, with OXXAMB2 fw and stock kernel...

Thank you for the feedback, I'm actually surprised. I haven't tested freezing TwDVFS but its name and kmsg seemed to point out that it was in charge of breaking CPU profiles.
Hi all.
Dont know if this is a stupid request
I am on CyanogenMod based ROM and i want to save battery (maybe) disabling some cores of my O4X...
I read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804461
but not working on CM ROM so...
I ask you!
I read also this 2 threads but I dont know if they are only for htc one x
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630200
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652136
There are tricks to enable only 2-3 cores or something like this?
For CyanogenMod of course!

Hi, you could try with this nice app called Tegra Overclock. I've been using it for quite a long time now and I really like it. It's very simple and you can REALLY set how many CPUs you want online + there are also some other options for OCing etc.
Oh and btw, I just tried that app from the HTC One X thread that you pasted and unfortunately, it doesn't do the job. :/

No problem. I hope that It will help you with your battery life.
also cpu tuner and trickstermod do the job pretty well. If your aim is to save battery check cpu tuner out
But seems that trickster mod dont save those settings for me...
Multicore Power Saving
always set to 0
Max Active CPU core
always set to 1
No way to fix them (various rom and kernel tested).
AND
Seems that tegra overclock fired up my CPU (CPU never goes under 1000 Mhz but always on max)
my phone after few minutes reboots in bootlop cause the temperature reached !
I reinstalled the ROM!!

You need to set up min/max cpu that way u wont be stuck on max cpu speed and overheat your phone.Tegraoverclock is fine but i am kinda used to SetCpu app.Download cpu spy from market and watch deep sleep that way you will know whats going on with cpu all the time.BetterBatteryStats are fine too.
The batterylife of my p880 is the worst ive ever seen.
Do you guys know some ways to extremely increase the batterylife?
Maybe a new kernel or something in the settings? Or an app?
Im running cm10.1 with the latest iodak kernel.

set the powersave policy to max/aggressive/active, use smartassV2, conservative, lagfree or lazy as CPU governor, try using greenify, delete any apps you don't need and do NOT overclock
EDIT: also try flashing a kernel with battery life tweaks
Well, I use an app called battery saver (root). You'll find it in Play Store. It's for root users, so you need to be rooted.
What it does: Battery Saver (root) will change the system ROM configuration for better battery life. It won't cut off WiFi, mobile data etc while the phone is in sleep like other apps does.
Try it for some days, it should help you like it did for me

Underclock to 1000mhz no performance lose and better battery life, and this is maby wierd set your minum frequency on 200mhz 200mhz uses less power then 100mhz. If you dont believe me search on the internet

if you want to increase your battery life you should use a car battery ) but that is insane
also nvidia tegra 3 use much energy for the 4 cores so if you don't find a app to use only 1-2(1 on menu, 2 on apps or light games) core and only 4 on heavy games you are lost even if you use a extended battery, because op4x use all 4 cores all the time soo that's sad

Q. "I'm going to set scaling min freq as 100 mhz because my kernel supports it. Hope there's nothing wrong in doing that."
A. Wait! You may want to stay away from using 100mhz during screen-off or screen-on states for three reasons 1) It seems 100 mhz uses more power than 200 mhz. According to tests, 100 mhz accounted to 1 W / GHz and 200 mhz to 0.7 W / GHz, when both the cores were online. 2) 200 mhz can finish same task faster compared 100 mhz and thus hit deep idle soon. 3) 200 mhz is the 'sweet spot' of frequency in SGS II. ie, the frequency used in the calculations based on the optimal energy to run (Ex: In Milestone it's 550 MHz). So , 'energetically efficient' frequency for our CPU is 200 mhz.
Edit 2: for a good govenor use conservative and use this tweaks:
Up_thresold 95
Sampeling_rate 120000
Sampeling_down factor 1
Down_treshold 40
Freq_step 10
(I edited this whit trickster mod)
